I chose this hotel for myself and my family to stay at the day before and after my wedding since I had an early start time, and didn't want want my family to have to drive all the way back to Brooklyn after the wedding. This was also about a 15-20 minute-ish drive away from the venue (the hotels closer to the venue didn't seem so great). Here are some of the pros and cons: Pros: 1. There's a kitchenette - I didn't use this but it was nice to have the option. This would be useful if I was actually traveling 2. Continental Brekkie - this was actually pretty good. Better than most of the typical continental hotel breakfasts I've had. They had breakfast sammies, breakfast bowls, and they even had POG! (passionfruit/orange/guava juice, which is popular in Hawaii) 3. Free parking 4. Rooms are spacious Cons: Honestly, I can't really think of anything, other than the fact that we couldn't get an Uber from there at 5:30 AM on a Sunday. But that's not the hotel's fault. That's just the nature of its location, which is expected. So PSA: if your wedding venue is nearby, this is a great place to stay! We did not get ready at the hotel but if you need to, this would be a viable option since the rooms are spacious!

It seems like when last it was renovated it was done in a hurry, as we had several issues with our room to the point where we had to switch. In the first room, the outlets were loose and separated from the wall. The bathroom door was difficult to open and close and made a loud noise in doing so. The door to the refrigerator was not cut to size properly, so it was also difficult to open/close. Lastly (and most importantly), the shower had no hot water and hair stuck to it from prior guests. When we called to the front desk, a very nice lady named Brenda helped us quickly get into another room. The beds were very hard in both rooms, I did not get much sleep in the hotel as a result. To add insult to injury, the bar was closed until further notice. We were told that due to a management change they needed a new liquor license. We were given a free breakfast for our room change inconvenience. We will not be staying here again.

Additionally, the perks of a microwave, laundry room, and free parking are all pluses to me. I've stayed at a couple hotels in the area since I spend a third of time traveling here for work. While the MC Hotel is probably one of the "better" hotels in the area, it's just not worth it to me. I much rather prefer the Courtyard Marriott. Close by is the Doubletree Hilton but those rooms lack a microwave and seem older and dirtier. The walls are thin no matter which hotel and this place is no different. Staff is generally friendly and helpful. The Bistro serves food that is good enough for when you don't want food delivery or to go out. Other than that, no complaints...I found it sufficient for long work stays.

So we went to the front desk to ask they said someone would bring to room. 3 days later we still have NO hand towels. Also, a friend went to the front desk to ask if they could call us down. They informed the person we weren't here. She stated I just dropped them off. They again stated we weren't here and told them there wasn't anything they could do. Speaking to manager the next morning, she didn't seem to be upset nor did she care. BTW: we still never got hand towels. For 700+ dollars they definitely need better training and a staff that supports their customers.

I was still skeptical after someone told me it was a nice hotel. My room was nice and spacious although the wallpaper was outdated. Not a huge deal. The bathroom smelled like bleach which is great since it was spotless without a hair in sight which I usually see in hotels. The mattress was firm, and the pillows weren't flattened, small and old. The continental breakfast was a bust, but the staff was really nice, and they accommodated me well. I even got a shuttle ride to the bus stop. I was impressed for sure and If I'm staying in the area again, I will return.

The lobby has a small section where they sell different drinks and snacks, and even ice cream treats. Although we did not eat breakfast there, they do offer complementary breakfast in the morning, which consisted of a variety of items including bagels, scrambled eggs, cereal, and a couple of other hot items. In addition, they have a bar downstairs that also sells some bar food items. There is a pool, and a small gym as well. This wasn't a bad place to stay, it is very close to the University, and it offers some nice conveniences, but the rooms could have been more comfortable.

There are minimum packages but they try to accommodate and their prices are competitive compared to other places we've looked. They are good at partitioning spaces and having multiple events that do not interfere with each other. There have been a couple of hiccups with needs (electronics, table/chair setup for instance), and the food is not stellar, only okay. (Case in point, I ordered my steak rare and the other person at my table ordered it medium well. They came out the same. Meanwhile, my friend at a different table got his rare. So was that mine?) Since the conference rooms are back behind the main desk, I've interacted with desk workers and watched people check in or out. I've spent time in the bar. I've visited multiple bathrooms and can say they have been recently upgraded to high standards. Overall they do OK here, but again, that's speaking to everything except actually staying here.

Getting here is also part of the adventure, as it's located at the interchange of Interstate 80, Route 46, and Route 23. The circumstances where you would stay here include if you are traveling alone on a budget, are only staying here for one night, and you can't get a better deal elsewhere. Parking is not an issue and there are plenty of spots. Due to an event leaving out later than expected, I arrived here after midnight, but had no problems checking in. My room was on the backside of the complex and was easy to find. Initial impressions of the room was it was lean but acceptable with a comfortable bed and nice pillows. Room looked somewhat recently renovated and included a mini-fridge. Sink that was located outside of the bathroom also looked newer, but the shower was by far the least modern feature of the room, and didn't have the best pressure or flow of hot water. TV had very few channels for being Direct TV. When looking at the room the next day, there were some wear and tear issues with the sheets on the bed I had not noticed the day before, and the large overhead light in the room did not work. Neither of those two were deal breakers. The complimentary breakfast was mostly carbohydrates such as bagels, waffles, and cereal, along with some juices. There were no eggs or meats so I did not partake. While I did not use it, the pool looked nice and well maintained. Quality Inn Wayne is very much a sleep and leave motel, but if you can afford a better option, do so. If the complimentary breakfast was better, I would have bumped the rating up on this motel.

If you're upgrading the lobby maybe start with you rooms that have stains on the walls starting from yellow to almost looking like poop. The carpet was stained, the chair in the room was suspect to say the least but also had interesting stains, along with the blinds having suspect stains as well. The beds were awful. I don't expect the grandest from hotels but the bed not only was advertised as two queen and ended up being full beds, but they were so old that they sunk in. The one bed was so sunken in you couldn't comfortably lay in it unless you laid in the sunken part, and that just felt unsettling. The sheets looked yellow and stained, nothing smelled washed, and don't get me started on how the floors clearly weren't swept, even in the bathroom. A bathroom is crucial to keep clean. The floors had hair all over that brought instant disgust, the tub was rusty and stained with dark patches, and the ceiling seen better days. Clearly this place hadn't been upgraded, cleaned properly, or touched in years and that is gross. Not that this can be changed in a way but the walls were so thin I got to hear a couple screaming and withing about their gambling addictions and relationship problems with cheating. Thought wyndam had standards but they clearly haven't been on site. I should've taken more photos but just trust me, don't go.

Located in Montclair, NJ, just…read moreoutside NYC, the decor in this boutique hotel is sort of 'artsy Ralph Lauren'--classic plaids mixed with modern art and sparkly modern accent pieces. Each detail has been considered and seemed intended to delight: from the whimsical portraits of famous Georges in the lobby, to the selection of French pastries and cheeses at breakfast, and the Dyson hairdryers in the guest rooms. There were fun surprises at every turn. Where else can you eat a yogurt parfait in an adorable Emma Bridgewater French pedestal bowl under a large portrait of AOC? As someone who is a big fan of sweets, I was just tickled by the sight of the colorful selection of candy in the "secret" candy closet (which although perhaps is a poorly kept secret, was a surprise to me!), as well as the Häagen-Dazs bars in the ice cream freezer. We stayed in the Harry room which was just off the library and featured a cleverly curated collage of framed photos of famous Harrys--Harry Houdini, Harriet Tubman, Debbie Harry, and some less easily identifiable Harrys, which generated conversation (was Buddy Holly's name Harry?). I understand each of the rooms is decorated similarly, each with a different name. We enjoyed tea and cake in the library at tea time. The George offers a complimentary wine service every evening with several selections of wine as well. What an experience--a solid five stars--I hope to return soon.

The lobby is cheap and badly lit, which sets the tone for the whole place. The elevator was unheated and dimly lit. Then we got to the floor, which was dark, except for the dimly lit walkway to the rooms. The hallways had this weird bluish glow from the fluorescent lights. There was a weird smell, too. We get to the room and it was badly lit with the same weird bluish light. The phone to the lobby was disconnected, as was the alarm clock, and there was no jack to connect the phone. You could see major water damage to the walls, and we found a carpet beetle on the floor. (I had to use AI to determine whether it was a carpet beetle or a bed bug; they look similar.) Thankfully, no carpeting in the room. At this point, though, I didn't want to imagine what bodily fluids a forensics tech might find on the bed. No way did I want to sleep in that bed. So what makes it scary? In addition to the poor lighting and darkened areas of the hotel, the garage is poorly lit and filled with garbage that offers perfect cover for a derelict or a mugger. Also, the doors from the garage to the hotel are wide open and no key card is required to enter the hotel from the garage level. Problems began as soon as I reached the front desk, as it took the owner or manager nearly 10 minutes to figure out how to check me in. Once I got to my room, things really went downhill. The floors had obviously not been cleaned or swept because there was dust/dirt in the corners, a candy wrapper by the bed, and dead insects scattered about. The paint job on the walls was atrociously done, and was chipping in spots. The room smelled musty and there was water damage visible on the ceiling. At least the sheets looked clean. The bathroom looked dingy. The lighting was very low, as if it was not good for guests to see the place in full light. It definitely did not look like the AI-enhanced photos shown online. The parking garage is apocalyptic. Be grateful you can't smell the photos I posted. The lighting was dim. There were piles of trash leading to the unsecured door into the hotel, behind which there was plenty of space for someone to hide. Boy, they sure know how to make guests feel safe. Checked out as soon as I got back to the hotel after the work event. It was worth driving a few hours after a long day to avoid staying here. How this place still gets business is beyond me. Businesses, if you're looking for a place for your guests or employees to stay, please don't subject them to this place.
