Great service and beautiful rooms I went to this hotel couple weeks ago and I totally recommend it!

This was my first visit to a Residence Inn and Marriott establishment. It was a Wednesday at 11pm during a heavy rainstorm. It was very difficult to find under those conditions after being displaced by a fire. It's about $100 more than another hotel that I moved onto but the "small" rooms are spacious plus the continental breakfast was delicious at convenient store level. Many of the amenities in the room and the fitness center were not needed. Hallway noise was louder than the cheap hotel though. read more

Our stay was 12/17/24. I was in room 118, a 2 BR suite. We traveled to NJ for mother in law funeral. When I was preparing to leave on Wednesday 18th I had suitcase on bed to put dirty clothes in. Two large red brown bugs came out from under the blanket on the bed I slept in. I took pictures so it is time and location stamped showing I was in room 118 at that time. I went to front desk and asked for manager for emergency as we had to leave or late for funeral. The front desk asked me why and I showed him picture of what I thought were bed bugs. He stated "they aren't bed bugs, they are JUST cockroaches". I was not nice after that comment. The manager arrived and she rolled her eyes at me when she thought I wasn't looking. I told her that I had to leave I was going to be late for funeral but now I probably have cockroach eggs all over my personal belongings. She did not care at all, not one bit. I said I would return after the funeral, she said nothing. No apology and no offer to assist. SHe should have offered to bag my luggage and or keep at the hotel until after funeral. I had to load the luggage into my car taking every risk that roach eggs were on my belongings. I received no help and no apologies. After the funeral I had to return to PA after a long emotional day. I did not want to upset my grieving family again. I called this am to customer service and I was again dismissed. She stated that they had an exterminator document that there was no evidence of bugs. Basically implying that I was not being honest. Even though I have pictures dated and location. Instead of apologizing she chose to question my integrity. If not bad enough she stated someone else would be calling me and hung up on me. I have to get my car professionally cleaned and most likely I will throw all of my belongings away. It is currently bagged and in my driveway. Most upsetting is my daughter is traumatized by this experience. read more

Stay away! For mainly two reasons I am warning people to not stay here. First, the pool is disgusting. You can't see the bottom and there were lots of things in it. Second, we stayed in room 117 and little did we know we were next to a 24 hour gym that had people in it until 1am and it sounded like people were running on a treadmill and throwing down weights in our bed. When we complained the front desk simple said "it's a 24 hour gym". And my question is not why do you have a gym but how do you decide who gets a shitty nights sleep? No sympathy or offer of anything was given. For this reason I will never stay again. The next day when checking out no one asked how our stay was. The free breakfast is sub-par and our room was run down. It was decently clean and roomy if I had to give it a positive. read more

During check in I wasn't able to apply government discount because I "didn't select government discount when i booked/reserved the room. I was told that if I cancel the reservation, there is no guarantee that I would get a room because the hotel was "over booked" at that time. So I took the room at the normal rate. After inspecting the room, I found dead stink bugs throughout, stains on the toilet, and a sex toy under the mattress (that my kids found). I immediately went to the front desk to ask for room service to throughly clean the room (assuming all the rooms were booked as I was told) and was told room service is available by request and the next time room service would be available is Tuesday (I checked in on Thursday). All of a sudden rooms became available. The staff offered a different room, four bottles of water and two bags of chips for the inconvenience (no discount, additional service, etc). I am throughly disgusted with the service and accommodations we received at this location and would not recommend anyone to stay here. The rooms were poorly cleaned, service was bad and the accommodations for the inconvenience was piss poor and unacceptable. read more

I have a distaste for Marriott ever since the one in Tulsa last year charged me $100 incidental fees for a five night stay. I ended up staying 3 nights, and got my money refunded. This hotel is a Marriott property. It is kind of outside of Wayne, or maybe is it hard to find. My Garmin brought me to a large ice skating rink, and the hotel was past this, up a hill, around the corner. The lobby faces the back of the hotel. I went to check in, and it was paid for on the corporate credit card. They asked me for my card, for incidentals. I am here for 18 nights. Any free time will be spent 30 minutes east. They charged me at first, 160. I asked, "for what?" They said, "20 for the movies you will watch, the rest for your needs you might have." So I said, "I have an iPad with Amazon Prime and Netflix. Why would I pay to watch a movie?" They made the incidental fee 140.... Ka- Ching, I handed them my MasterCard. and promptly emailed my company. The room is pretty. Very well lit. The first room they gave me, I had to turn on the refrigerator by plugging it in. It went bump bump, klunk, ding, dong and smelled like a compost. So they gave me a different room. It is beautiful. Well lit, huge t.v., full kitchenette. Nice couch, a desk, a high bar table, full sized refrigerator. With this room, they gave me a list of places to eat, about 50. They said, "some even deliver." There's nothing on the list noting who delivers. When I complained to my company about the costly incidental fees, my company called the hotel with the corporate card. The hotel wouldn't budge and remove the charges, and put it on the corporate card.. I mean, I was prepared for $50, but not 140, its expensive to eat out in thisvarea of the country.The money is pretty much taken care of...the bad taste in my mouth about Marriot just got worse. I am giving them 3 generous stars for the room and breakfast. I am not touching their t.v., who knows what they'll charge me? read more

What a great place! We stayed at a suite for only one night but was quite impressed. The rooms were quite large and the kitchenette was well stocked. There were pots, pans, plates and utensils for extended stay. Each room has there own bathroom. Unfortunately, I took off one star from my review because one of toilets wasn't flushing. We called the front desk and they quickly took care of it. The hotel comes with free breakfast. And the food was great! They had biscuits with gravy, make your own waffle station and the usual hot food. There's also a pool, fitness room and lots of parking. The staff were very friendly and quick to respond to any requests. Wish we stayed for longer. read more

We've have stayed here approximately 4 maybe 5 times because my husband does training for work down the road, we reside in CT so we travel for a week to sometimes 2 weeks and stay here because it has a kitchen and makes things easier if and when we brought our small children. Having a kitchen here has always made it feel like we were home and not in a hotel, however this week we stayed here and we are beyond disappointed. For starters, they gave us a room accessible for wheelchair access which we don't have but no big deal it's fine. Our bathtub was dirty with stains and some type of rust/mold, around the rim of the toilet we found hair. Our flat sheet has a black spot and the duvet on top a yellow, however they smell cleaned maybe just stained and idk if the company changes them out or continues to use them even stained like that. During the week it was time to wash dishes in the dishwasher, but the dishwasher wouldn't close, after a few minutes I finally got it to close to only have to call maintenance to open it because the latch wouldn't open - they proceeded with they need to check if they have the part if not they'll order it and it would take a few days. Maintenance was extremely nice and professional. However we leave tomorrow and the dishwasher is still broken so I've been washing by hand which is fine but had it been someone wheel chair bound I'd feel terrible for them. I figured I wouldn't complain cause we've been here before a lot and we've never had issues besides mold on a cheesecake piece which wasn't really their fault. I went to target and bought cleaning supplies and I cleaned the toilet and bathtub myself as well as the kitchen counters, table, and desk. I hope that our next stay is as pleasant as it has always been. read more

Zero, Zero. Zero Reserved a room for my son's friends that were coming from out of town to celebrate his 21st birthday. When we arrived in the room it was myself, my wife, and the four young adults that were there for 2 nights. When we started unloading their bags there was a knock on the door. It was the manager, last name O'Dell. He proceeded to tell us their policy is only 4 to a room. My response was I understand. My wife and I were getting them settled then leaving. This is where it gets good. Mr. O'Dell proceeds to tell us that if they get one nose complaint they will be asked to leave. We weren't there for 5 minutes and they're being profiled as teenage trouble makers. These kids flew in from all over the country and don't even drink. The manager was rude and wouldn't listen to reason. He was condescending and talking to me as if I was a child. Marriott is doing themselves an injustice having a manager that has no interpersonal skills. He doesn't realize that my wife is a banquet manager that sends the hotel a lot of business. Not anymore. Funny he was so worried about the 4 quiet kids in a room he didn't realized the pot smoking that was going on 2 doors down. Way to be observant. So if you don't like the smell of weed and don't appreciate a condescending manager then I wouldn't suggest staying at this judgemental, stereo typing facility. Needless to say. Residence Inn in Wayne, NJ? What the? I stayed because I was attending a wedding nearby and didn't want to deal with finding a ride back to Jersey City. I was scared reading the reviews, but in the end, I didn't think this spot was so bad! Far from luxury my friends, but by no means a dump in shambles. It's in the middle of nowhere, but they do have a shuttle that can take you anywhere locally, although going to Macy's was the reference point in which they gave me. The rooms come with a nice little kitchenette and it seems that the rooms are updated and on the newer side. The bed was a bit small and definitely not top notch, but it made do. Free breakfast* and internet are wins! Overall, this spot is solid. Don't come in expecting luxury, limit all expectations and I think you'll be ok. * I definitely did not mess with the free breakfast. read more

We stayed at the Residence in while our house was under construction. I specifically searched for a hotel that accepts pets. I was a bit worried that a pet friendly hotel would not be very clean, or smell bad, but it was totally immaculate and there were no pet smells throughout the hotel or the hotel room. The staff were all very friendly and helpful as well. We got a one-bedroom suite, it was clean, bright and I was SO impressed at the bathroom- utterly mold free, which seems to be hard to come by these days. The kitchenette was convenient, clean, and well equipped with cooking and eating utensils. The only disappointment was the bed was not very comfortable, it was supposed to be a Queen bed, but it did not feel that big at all and was pretty soft/saggy. The breakfast provided for guests in the morning (for free!) was great, they had lots of options for protein and even fresh fruit-- not just cereal and muffins. If we needed to camp out during construction again, we would definitely come back here! read more

Horrible! I had a previous bad experience here but I decided not to post a review - all good people and places do poorly once in a while. But now I have to post, to save the next guy thinking he will get a quiet result nights sleep in this hotel. Best way to say it - remember in high school when you would rent a room, spilt it 20 ways, fill the bathtub with beer, and stay up all night ? Well, that's what this place has basically become. The business model is - take care of the long term business traveler with a big room, lots of cozy home-like amenities, and alls great. But in fact what happens here - just like in high school. Pay $175 bucks and stuff 10 people in a room. The problem - noise !! Unbearable noise! Twice in a row I've had the same problem, twice in a row a horrible rest. Ok - thanks for the free night , but honestly I would pay double just to sleep. And that's just what I am going to do - elsewhere. Lost a customer for life at this place, and I will think 10000 times over before I ever pice another Residence Inn! Go elsewhere - you will feel better in the morning for it ! read more

The hotel is so nice and my room is the best, two queen size beds with personal bathrooms, huge mirror that slides hiding the closet,three tv's, fireplace in the living area, full kitchen with dishwasher, but for some reason the maid always have the dishes cleaned by the time I get back everyday the workout room is nice, it's equip with several workout stations, swimming pool is nice plus it's indoors Hot tub is a nice spot to relax after working out or shooting basketball!!! The hotel serves food every Monday thru Wednesday with drinks.... Only down side is the location because of the ice skating arena, traffic has the road packed at times read more

Great hotel! My husband and I were in awe when we walked into the room. We've never stayed at a residence inn before--literally a small one bedroom apartment--full kitchen(stove, dishwasher and full size fridge). Plus they had an indoor heated pool and jacuzzi and basketball court. The cleanliness of the room was amazing. Super clean and didn't have to worry about anything. Breakfast comes with the stay and they had some great selections. And water pressure!!!! read more

The bedroom in my suite had a door. The Yelpiverse knows that is a ticket to success as far as my hotel preferences are concerned. I detest the open and/or partial privacy wall in a "suite". So, gold star for that feature. The complimentary breakfast was meager but the spacious and pleasant dining area recouped some of the points lost for the culinary deficit. The cookies in the lobby were a welcome sweet treat and pick me up. No problems with the WiFi. The fitness center was well equipped and in working order. I did not get the chance to use the pool. The only complaint I have is that the place was being renovated. And I was apparently in a room very near the construction because I heard everything from the crew moving and pounding to the soundtrack of music they were laboring to. My suggestion is to work in segments and refrain from putting guests in rooms that are in the area that is currently being worked on. Aside from that I was pleased with my stay. read more

Maybe it's because I grew up staying in fleabag motels, but I was really impressed with this place. I was put up here for an interview and I wasn't expecting much, but I was very surprised to see how nice the kitchenette was and the fact that the bed is in a separate room. It really does make it feel more home-y, which is great if you've got other things on your mind. It was nice and quiet too - no loud neighbors! The free breakfast had the BEST pancakes too, oh my goodness. The downside is that if you don't have a car it's about half mile walk to restaurants and shops and some parts of the road don't have sidewalks, which makes exploring the area kind of difficult. read more

Such an amazing experience here!! I stayed here after my wedding at the Tides Estate the weekend of 7/27/2019 and worked with Bridget. She was able to help us accommodate our guests by booking rooms Friday & Saturday night. All of our guests loved their stay here. We were able to drop our welcome bags off early and all of our guests were welcomed with warmth and hospitality. We were able to use the lobby area for our after party with no complaints! All rooms were clean and comfortable. At breakfast on Sunday, which is supposed to be from 7-9:30, one of the servers at breakfast heard that not all my guests had woken up yet, and she told me she would extend breakfast to accommodate the other guests. This was HUGE!! We are soooo appreciative!! Thank you!!! 10 stars!! read more

We showed up to find that they had upgraded us from a one to a two bedroom and they were just putting out a free pizza buffet. Now add in the large pool and pool area and how could this go wrong?! I'm thinking 5 stars here, right?! Well, we got in the room. Ugh! The smell of dog hits like a truck! I saw guests everywhere with dogs, so I wasn't surprised - there is obviously a market for dog friendly hotels. But this hotel is large, can't they reserve rooms just for guests with dogs? And let the rest of us live dog smell free! Then the room doesn't look that old, but it looks like it's been hit by a truck. Big, dark stains all over the carpet, dents all over the fridge and stove, chewed on dining chairs, the couch has some stained, ill-fitting homemade cushion covers to cover who knows what, the furniture is all banged up, shelves hanging down at saggy angles, broken bedroom window sash that won't lock so they just screwed a piece of metal above the window so it won't open and fall apart more, livingroom window has lost it vacuum so it's all fogged up, there is hardly anything not beat up, broken, stained, cattywompus or smelly. It is so shabby and then combined with the smell - I just feel itchy and uncomfortable. And I bet the hotel charged some guest big bucks for all this damage and pet deposits and then never did the repairs! read more

Worst hotel ever. Was told their outside area closed at 11. First night we were kept up past 3:45 am because of a wedding party. Asked the manager the next morning to switch rooms and he declined advising that it would never happen again. Next night were were awoken at midnight because they allowed another wedding party to hang out outside. The reason given is because they would be too loud inside. Alcohol everywhere. Guest in the lobby inebriated and slurring speech and manager did nothing. We are checking out a day early now. We are Marriott members and will never stay at any jolted owned by this company again. The fact that this manager didn't care about us or the other non-wedding guest is disgusting. Could not rate this hotel poorly enough. read more

Very clean, well kept room. Stayed here for a Saturday night for a small staycation with the family and overall had a very nice experience. Hotel seemed very busy, but not a peep was heard when it was time to hit the hay. Free buffet-type breakfast was fully stocked and well kept and clean seeing how busy it was in the morning. Kudos to the hard working individuals who do this each and everyday as you are always overlooked, but only needed when someone wants something.... Pool area was very busy at night. read more

Had to find a hotel in Wayne, NJ for myself and co-worker for a two-week stay. We were able to get a Suite that has two separate bedrooms with bathrooms and a common area with a kitchenette. Our room was very spacious and clean with no issues. We were surprised to find a very good breakfast buffet with freshly cooked scrambled eggs (not the microwave ones or packaged omlets) as well as a variety of meats, cereals, pastries, oatmeal, cheeses, fruits, and waffles. The orange juice and apple juice are not diluted like I find in all my travels. It only got better as we were given either a dinner or desert along with beer and wine Monday through Wednesday at their social gathering in the evening. The staff was very friendly at the front desk and helpful. Washers and dryers were sufficient and clean. Did not try the pool or hot tub, but the fitness center is above average for this level of hotel chains. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend it to anyone traveling. read more

I'm glad I read Expedia reviews and not yelp reviews before booking our room here. My nephew got married in Haledon and we didn't want to drive back to LI. The room was super clean, laid out nicely, the basic amenities that you'd need. We were excited about the free breakfast... Until we realized it ended at 9:30. Sorry, but on a Saturday morning after a late night wedding, that was ridiculous. Also, the front desk was short on help and had to wait a while to be checked in. It was a little noisy, but we didn't experience the noise that lots of Yelpers mentioned. Overall a solid 3 star review, maybe a little better. read more

Excellent choice if you plan to stay a few days and use the kitchen A nice new hotel with comfortable accommodations and helpful staff. You can't go too far wrong here. Most of the floor space is devoted to the kitchen and living area, leaving the bedroom a bit cramped, so if you aren't interested in the kitchen a residence hotel may not be your best choice. I had a guaranteed room reservation and walked in exhausted after driving over an hour from JFK at almost midnight only to find that they decided to give my room away and send me away to another hotel. I am a female traveling alone and only have my point GPS to get me from point to point in my business travels. What is the point of a GUARANTEED reservation if they do not honor. I will NEVER be staying at this "hotel" again. And I had stayed at this hotel several times before too. My co-worker had a room with a leaking ceiling, broken towel bar and a broken toilet that he was told he would have to wait until the morning to get fixed. Dealing with this hotel has been the most difficult and stressful part of planning my wedding. We chose them for our hotel block because the rooms are beautiful and the price was affordable for our many out-of-town guests, but they have made so many errors in booking our rooms and left our guests hanging. The receptionists are professional, respectful, and never got nasty, but there must be something wrong at the administrative level.... When we booked the hotel, they we asked about how many rooms we should book for our 60+ guests. They said that they start with 10 rooms and that we would have "no problem adding rooms after those filled up." Well. After those rooms filled up, they said that there were no rooms left at the hotel because they had booked two other weddings for that weekend! They completely mislead us. They told us that we could have our guests book rooms at the Hilton that is also on the property, but we wanted everyone to be together. What would they have done if there wasn't a second hotel on the property?? Also, some of our guests called to confirm their reservations and they had the wrong room type, even though our guests had confirmation emails with what they had reserved. They had to call corporate to get anything done correctly. All in all, the rooms were nice and we had a good time, but it was a NIGHTMARE to plan with this hotel, and I'd suggest you look elsewhere. read more

We have stayed here a few times, but this last time guaranteed we never will again. I had a pair of jeans stolen out of my room, and I called several times, and although they said they would call me back, they never did. They said they would do an investigation, but what good would that do! Not once did they offer to compensate me for my loss. I thought our belongings were safe when we left for the day, but we were obviously wrong. Do not stay here, unless you have a lock on all your stuff.
