I think this is the best Persian food in Great Neck. There are plenty to pick from but the quality, flavor and preparation are better here.

The baba ghanoush was excellent, it had a rich texture and a slightly sweet aftertaste that was very unique. I ate it with the veggies served alongside, as well as some rice later on in the meal, but honestly could have wolfed it down on its own. And then for mains, I had the fesenjun, a sweet stew with chunks of marinated chicken, served with a plate of rice. It was out of this world, with a thick consistency and lots of meat throughout. If you're up for a classic Persian dish and feel adventurous to try a sweet stew, I strongly recommend the fesenjun. And then throughout the meal, they kept bringing complimentary dishes that were outstanding. From the tahdig with ghormeh sabzeh on top, to the plate of hummus, to the fruit that came with our teas for dessert, all such a nice touch! Colbeh is excellent, come hungry and you'll be very pleased.

I finally got the chance to go since I happened to be in the neighborhood for another event. They have some basic Persian dishes on their menu but I found the menu a little limited. But still, enough for us to get excited about. We samples the below items but in the end, I thought the food was average. Not bad at all; just average. Here are the menu items we shared (by 5 people): #3 Kashk Bademjan (eggplant) $8: great dish; well prepared! #11 Patoug Special Salad (small/$9): there was absolutely nothing special about this boring salad. It was just lettuce, tomato & cucumber, and nothing else. The veggies were fresh though. Definitely use the white and green sauces on the table! #13 Tah Dig (crispy rice) $11: this was a small portion size but terrific! #15 Torshi (pickled veg) $8: basic; comes in a small bowl. #22 Kebob Kobiden (2 ground beef kebobs; comes w.rice) $20: you have the option of white or brown rice. We had brown rice, which was very good. The ground beef kebobs were pretty good! Don't forget the white sauce! #34 Gheimen (Mutton Stew; comes w.rice) $20: small portion served in a small bowl. Tasty stew. Comes with a plate of white rice. -- Complimentary bread: served warm and was fantastic! Customer service was friendly and nice enough but we felt a little rushed at the end, even though the dining room was half empty. "Suggested tips": on the bottom of your check, there are "suggested tip" $ amounts. Do your own math to figure out how much tip you want to leave!! Warning: their "suggested tip" is based on the after tax and after credit card fee prices. (See my photos). This is wrong!! Tips should always be based on your total BEFORE tax and BEFORE cc fees!! (Why would you pay a tip on the tax and cc fees you pay? That's ridiculous!). Parking; plenty of metered parking as well as free residential street parking available. Note to management: Please do not keep the dirty dishes bin in your dining room!! Besides it being unsanitary, the smell of garbage penetrated the air in the entire dining room. Yuke!

Updated review! Still going after all these years!…read more This time for dinner. We got an appetizer platter which was fantastic but very pricey, if I'm remembering right it was $36ish and just because of the price I would not order it again. We also ordered the obligatory kebabs and cherry rice. Of course we loved them. For the first time ever we tried some desserts. I just ordered the oddest sounding thing. Falooda. Now I'm dreaming of eating it again! Rose/Lemon ice with little noodles! There was also some tart cherries in juice on the side and a lemon wedge. The waitress was so nice, she had to explain how to eat it. Just dump the cherries on top of the ice & noodles and a squeeze of lemon. It was delicious. Best dinner I've had in a while!

The combination platter is a great way to get a taste of a variety of meats. The barg is marinated beef that is so soft and tender, it's truly delicious, the jujeh is chicken that is big pieces and is so juicy, and the Koobideh is ground beef that has so much flavor. The albaloo polo rice is my absolute favorite. The sweet and sour cherries, almonds, and pistachios compliments the basmati rice so well. It is my favorite rice hands down! I can eat a whole plate for myself, since it's so light and fluffy. Service is great, the wait staff is accommodating, and the food comes out quickly. The ambiance is nice as well. Plenty of seating, and has a nice view of Main Street. I always enjoy eating at Ravagh. Plenty of food, and I never leave hungry!

When we sat down, we were served pita and tzatziki sauce. It was good! We ordered off of the lunch special. I had the Kubideh Kabab and my friend had the boneless chicken Kabab. The kababs were not dried out and they were very tasty, well seasoned, and not salty! With the lunch special, you get a choice of lentil soup or salad. I went with the soup and I'm glad I did! It really hit the spot since I haven't been feeling very good lately. We shared an appetizer of falafels. To be honest, it was a bit too dry for me. The service was great and our waitress was very nice. She gave us plenty of time to look at the menu and order. The restaurant is quiet overall but there isn't a lot of seating available. The rice feels so soft in your mouth, it's almost like eating velvet. It balances out the strong and bold flavors of the chicken perfectly. As funny as this may sound, the real MVP of the dish is the roasted tomato. Delicious juiciness. The first time I went, the owner was kind enough to gift us an order of homemade Saffron Ice Cream. I ordered Baklava on top of that and it was so good that I had to buy half a pound to bring home to my family. Every single one of their appetizers are delectable, with the Hummus dip being my favorite. I've been there twice now, but am not opposed to return in the near future.

The service is very attentive. Right when we sat down the host gave us water which was nice. The waiter was a little too attentive, kept coming up to us to ask if we were ready to order when we were not, and just kept coming and coming every two minutes. They give complimentary flat bread which is tasty. Our Persian friend mentioned usually Persian restaurants give the bread with herbs and feta rather than just plain. We did find on the menu the herbs and feta was an extra cost. We had the kebab combo and subbed cherry rice and salad (which is cucumbers and tomatoes) and also exchanged the ground chicken kebab for a chicken breast kebab. The standout was the steak kebab and the cherry rice. There were so many cherries in the rice, and it was both sweet and savory. I couldn't stop eating it. The steak was super juicy and well seasoned. I also really like the roasted tomato on the side, basil and pickled cabbage. We ordered a stew, think it was Ghormeh sabzi. It had a bunch of herbs in it, and beans and a dried lime. Was told not to eat the lime. It was a very strong and rich stew, I took a couple of bites. Don't think I could have eaten the whole thing. It's very strong. It's our friend's favorite Persian dish and she loved it. There was one dish we wanted that they ran out of but they gave us a couple of dollars off the bill which was nice. The kebab platter came with koobideh, barg and chicken with subbed the white rice for cherry rice which turned out to be the star of the show. Even as a Persian, I have never had that rice before.Somehow, and it quickly became delicious. And I immediately text my mom and asked her why she had never made it for me lol We also got ghormeh sabzi which as I told my friends can be hit or miss in flavor and if they would actually like a stew like this. They both actually enjoyed it, and I thought it was pretty close to my mom's recipe. The only sad thing was that we ordered tahdig but the table next to us had ordered 2 large plates and they had no more, which was odd given it was only 1pm and the restaurant opens at 11am. Overall good experience, love that they played Persian music to give it a real deal feel. Will be back!
