Been with charter for internet since 2009. About 3 weeks ago, my internet stopped working. After 2 days, I discovered it was disconnected by my driveway with a red tag on it. I chatted with customer service and no one had a clue what this was. By the time I called, it had been 10 days without internet and it's during the holidays, so I wasn't available to have a tech come out because they wanted to enter the home. I had been tossed around on the phone from agent to agent and multiple told me they had in the notes that I refused the tech entry to the home. This was a lie, a tech never came out and I had said I wasn't available for a tech to enter. This is a huge difference from refusing someone to enter. It made me super mad! I decided to get verizon 5g that just plugs in, so we could get some internet going and it seemed to work fine. I decided I was going to cancel charter and use that instead. They didn't want to credit me anything back for the days I had no internet! Said sorry, it's not on them and told me since I didn't want the tech, they won't do it. On top of that, charged me for the next mo! I was like, I'm being punished for your guys issue of disconnecting this in the first place. I had even tried to put the acct on hold over chat and she told me no, I would be compensated those days. Ha! So I was denied a hold AND charged more. I talked to a supervisor, same thing. They tossed me to another guy who got the bill lowered to $25, but they would not credit me back. They said service was still active, even though I was disconnected, so I had to pay. I'll stick to the verizon and not have to deal with the cables that caused all this mess. read more

They lie and steal! Do not do service with them!!!! We made the huge mistake with using them for Mobile service. They over charged us from what was promised. When we went to cancel it, we were instructed to return the phone. After returning the phone, we were still charged over $1090! (And it was already discussed that we were to not be charged, etc). We have been trying to get our refund for weeks (or at least get the iPhone back which we returned). It has become more than a nightmare and everyone we talk to doesn't care and is a complete dead end. We will no longer be using them for any type of service. The internet service they provide is great for my area. The call center customer service is ok to good. I came to this physical location to upgrade from silver to gold package. I was told by the call center to bring in my old equipment to "upgrade" at the same time. I went in today, to the most rude customer service I've experienced. I tried explaining to the woman behind the counter that I was instructed to come in and exchange my equipment. They refused to exchange my equipment and were EXTREMELY RUDE. They had no regard or cared that I was trying to spend more money with the company. I couldn't believe someone would treat a paying customer like they did to me. Someone whom is trying to spend more money with them. Not less. I spent an hour out of my day driving to the physical location and I am extremely unhappy with the (lack of) customer service and especially their tone and attitude with me. The best service in a bad situation. I am not a fan of charter internet services or television services, I am probably the furthest thing from it. I just wish there were better competitors in my area. For Central Valley residents I suggest checking if your area offers Xfinity before signing a contract with charter. I can never do homework or take quizzes in peace. Can't stream movies or shows in the comfort of my own home. Last year we had a technician come out to our house 5 times. Every time they switched out the modem and told us it was "no good". I purchased a $300 router hoping it would resolve or at best help against the problem. It did not. The installation went well, the reps are friendly enough over the phone, however neither of those things make up for the constant phone calls my husband gets to upgrade our service, or the slow, spotty connection. We decided to pay extra for a "faster" connection, since I work from home and my job relies on me having a reliable internet connection. At least once a week our internet goes out; not just for a couple minutes, but sometimes for an hour at a time, and it pisses me off when I have to explain to a client or my boss that I can't do anything right now because my service provider sucks. It's also nearly impossible to get a signal on our laptops anywhere in the house, you pretty much have to be hard-wired in order to get that slow, spotty connection. A couple weeks ago, my husband got a replacement debit card in the mail and had to call Charter to give them the new card number (we're on auto pay). They told him the current bill would go through on the new card, and everything was good. A few days later, they decided to shut off our service without warning. My husband laughed and said "they called me today" Me: "About the bill?" My husband: "Nope, to see if I wanted to upgrade our service...". SERIOUSLY? My husband had to call them and manually pay the bill to get our internet back up again. Good to know your sales department is more diligent than your billing department. read more

From the review below, I can see I am not the only one unhappy with this service. First off, I get called at least 2-4 times per week. Asking me to upgrade, add this, add that. Each time I say no. They just don't seem to get it. I understand the sales staff is pushed to upgrade, but your pumping a dry well here people. All I want is the internet, and get this, they can't even provide that efficiently. Why on earth would I add more of your lackluster services?? For months the internet was working great, fast speeds, little downtime (if any), and then out of nowhere it slows down. Netflix, Xbox Live and so on take way to long to load and buffer. So I called to have this fixed, and after the mandatory "did you power cycle your gear" speech, yes I did. Its 2013, most people know to do that now. So they find that my speed is actually less than it should be and will send a tech out. Here's the kicker, if the tech finds something that doesn't have to do with their gear I could get charged $45, OR I can opt for the monthly "wire maintenance" fee at $4.95 to avoid that. So in essence, I was strong-armed into paying for a fee with either choice I took. "Hey we can put our foot up your butt, or just the toes, which one sir?" Wire Maintenance Fee?, they're your wires you take care of them. The worst ever, I was told by a rep, Verna R, that came to our door that there was a special that if you went with them "just internet" that they would buyout your fees from the current provider you are with!! So needless to say, we changed over and NOW I'm told it was not true and the rep was not trained properly and told us wrong info!!! I'm stuck with a $165 early termination fee and I spoke with the supervisor, Joaquin Robinson, who asked me to email all info and he would take care of it.....well 3 weeks later NOTHING!!! Now in collections cuz of lies from them!!! Joaquin Robinson, is NOT a good supervisor!!!! Nothing but ignoring my emails and not fixing the issues they created!!! UGH. We want to like Charter .. really. But they keep screwing up so royally its hard to like them. Granted they have kick-a** internet speeds and that's probably the only reason why were staying on. Other than that here are the litany of reasons why NOT to choose it: - Customer response on the phone: Dang it ... NO . The robotic voice that tries to do everything but connect you to a real live person, does absolutely NOTHING to help. So that by the time you get a real person, you are already in the shoddiest of moods. - limp-wristed, inept, and under qualified technicians- Charter outsources the technical guys that show up at your door. Since they are all trained differently, (and not trained enough on the product) they all have wild schemes on how the problem needs to get fixed. We have a pix-elation issue on our receiver and we've had people over three times already. Each person pulls a different reason out of their ..... em .. head ... and none so far have been correct. Worse, the second guy seriously scratched up our laminate floors. They sent somebody to take a look at the scratches (yes they were THAT bad) and so far we haven't heard zilch. I have dealt with the Turlock Ca office. Let's just say no customer service skills what so ever. Long line one person services that place. Every one hides in the back office. Management refuses to come and talk to customers and non customers who have complaints. I emailed corporate office and the head manager basically told me they dont deal with it, it gets rerouted to me as he giggled. Definitely lack of customer service. I don't find it hard to believe that my three star review is actually above the average, but here's what my Charter experience has been like: Basically I have to give Charter some props because their speeds and prices are better than what we were getting when we lived in San Jose. We do get periods of slower speeds and downtime, although not for the last month or so. We've been Charter customers for about five months now, with a total of about three or four days of down-time in our internet service. When turning everything off and on again doesn't work we call in and usually they can at least let us know what's going on, so that's good. Most of the time they fix it remotely within two hours. Once it was due to a storm and our whole town (including our apartment and therefore my home office, my fiance's workplace, the town library, basically all credit card machines in town...) lost internet connectivity for about two days. They did give us a day's credit for the downtime when we called in, though. By far the worst thing about Charter, though, is the relentless phone calls to upgrade. If it weren't for this I'd give them a 4 star rating. They literally called my fiance 3 or 4 times a week to try to talk us into getting phone or tv service, which he made it clear that we don't want or need. He ended up blocking their number, after which they would call from another one after a bit, and my fiance went through that cycle with them a few times. He doesn't remember if he ever asked them to stop calling or not, since they tended to called when he was at work, and so he had to end the call as soon as possible. When they called (his cell phone) after work one night and I happened to answer, we asked them to take us off of their calling list and have not had to deal with this since then, so at least there's that. read more

I just purchased a home in s.modesto (moffet and river rd) and unfortunately we dont have comcast in the area. Its either slow ass uverse or charter.... Supply and demand, effective charter. Tried to ask nicely to do a self install so I can save myself money but no, it's their way of squeezing pennies out my asshole lol. "The technician needs to come out and make sure the router is working correctly and all that.." aka fuck you pay $100 for setup. I miss you comcast! Lol please expand to the south Modesto locations! Horrible experience and a complete wais t of time. Called for service on 8/7/18, for a cable card phone and internet. They scheduled me for install in 2 days on the 9th. They then canceled the appointment on the 8th and rescheduled for the 15th. I started getting robots calls 4 time daily from the company asking for Authentication, that they were unable to stop and I was forced to block the #. They then canceled the appointment on the 15 and rescheduled for the 21st. It is now the 21st and they show up with no cable card and tell me I need to make another appointment. As the installer was here..I got another robot call about authentication. I called Spectrum only to be hung up on. I called back and they said it's an automated system and they cant stop the robot calls. I'm waiting for them to complete the work then I'm rescheduling for them to deinstall everything... I'm not gonna pay a dime to this company. And I hope you don't either. I never thought I'd say this in my life....but comcast doesn't seem so bad anymore. read more

Charter Communications - Worst cable company ever - Television Service Providers Near Me - Turlock, California

I dont know where to start. I have charter internet and have for about 2 years. I called to bundle my TV with them to see if I could save some money. After talking to their sales rep, I was told that I would get all of these channels, a home phone (which we have never had. We like most, just rely on our cell phones), as well we would get upgraded to the 100 mb download speed. So I went ahead and canceled my service with Dish Network. When the service guy got to my house, he installed everything for the TV. But he had no record of any internet speed upgrade. He and I called the service department, and they said that they could not and would not upgrade my internet service unless I paid an additional $60 per month. They admitted that their sales rep did promise the upgrade, but that they would not honor it because she was wrong. My business is custom software and online services. So a fast internet is very important to me. But Charter was completely unwilling to work with me or take any actions to fix their own error. I kept asking for the next level up representative, and after talking to 5 different people, I got nothing but the feeling that they could care less if I just took a hike. And the fact that I was only saving a cost of about 10 dollars per month, but getting a service that has a completely antiquated look and feel when it comes to their TV software, I was happy to say, "just take this crap away". Charters DVR box is HUGE. It is also out of date, and their user interface is complete junk and hard to figure out. I now have to call Dish Network back and ask them to come out and re-hook up their equipment. I would strongly suggest staying away from Charter as a whole. If you are looking for a company that focuses on good customer service, then I would go anywhere else. Anything has to be better. read more

Note Spectrum tv, cable and internet is owned by Charter. A 3rd party business contracted to sell Spectrum services mislead the company's plan and installation or you could say lied. Note there are levels of installation tech's. It took 3 weeks and 3 tech's and a supervisor to come out to fix a loose cable and bad equipment. The 3rd tech appointment was schedule by cust. serv. Noting needing a senior tech, but didnt have the info that the 2 senior tech's for my area Turlock, Modesto, Manteca were not available and not caught until the time of appointment. Some advise, if you notice a difference in your speed performance or your internet dropping often, CALL and inform the company. I neglected doing this because that sort of thing happens all the time. I noticed this happening for over a month and finally I just couldn't deal with it anymore as I do work from home. When I called, I was told I am paying for a speed and using a modem the speed is not compatible with. I am using the modem the company left for me to use. :-/ read more

NEVER ever fall for Spectrum trial period for free..it's not. A direct sales rep. knocked on my door and claimed she's making follow-ups on previous subscribers. As she started and along her sales promo, I asked several times "is it free", and answered "yes". Said I can discontinue service if I'm not satisfied after the trial period. Router and modem came 02/11/21, can't do self-installation (don't know where cable outlet was) so I called Spectrum and told my problem. Apple TV equip delivered 02/13/21 and tech installers came a little later. When every equips were set-up, instructed to make Spectrum acct. and was surprised to see they're billing me $140.84 during trial period! Sales rep. FAILED to mention you have to pay and if not satisfied is money back guaranteed. What's worst was I noticed I was being billed w/ Spectrum Voice when in fact I have no home phone. When I called Customer support to cancel service, was transferred to a supervisor. Told her why I was cancelling and was told I must pay even though I don't have a home phone. I insisted on cancelling so she said okey and return the equips (03/13/21). Returned all equips 03/15/21 since following day was Sun. 03/11/21 received email bill $156.00 for services covering 03/11/21-04/10/21 + 140.84 from the trial period totaling $296.84. Remember, I cancelled 03/13/21 and returned equips 03/15/21. So why will I pay for date coverages when I'm not using and cancelled the services. Then, 03/13/21, a bill totaling $599.32 was emailed to me w/ "unreturned Spectrum router, modem, and Apple TV". So I called them again to explain I returned all equips and even gave them the tracking numbers. Put me on hold to verify and lo and behold they'll clear my account but I have to pay for the Apple TV quip ($202.02). Told her I did not even order Apple TV and different from Spectrum TV. So I was told it's mine now and not returnable to them. So I asked "can I use it in some other way and was told NO, have to have Spectrum TV". And I can sell it by my self.. LOL. So bottom line... do not fall prey to their trial period as additional charges will be added in your 1st bill. read more

When I think of Charter I always picture the little Monopoly guy, because they have a monopoly on providing Internet service in Piedra Viva aka Livingston. That greedy little frieker with his stupid top hat. I am actually surprised that someone has not written a review for Charter. They suck so hard they could beat the Oreck challenge. The traffic in Modesto still sucks less than Charter. They suck more than Russia invading the U.S. Finally they suck more than Osama Bin Laden's dialysis machine. I live in Waterford which is a story in it's self. So my choices of internet are very slim. Charter and now AT&T U-verse. Which of the two evils did I pick. Well Charter of course. Been here a little over a year. Charter reps have been out here so many times, I know the guys on a first name basis. They say that they need to replace all the wiring here in the park, but can not get owners approval. Great! No internet, just TV. How am I supposed to get answers to my questions when I don't have internet. I live on the computer, Go to school on the computer. Order lots of stuff on the computer and yet I constantly have problems. When it works, it is great. good speed. Would really suck to get dropped from school just because I don't have internet (3 weeks) (1 week) days in and out. What is a person to do? I changed to AT&T U-verse.We will see how that goes. let me explain this absolute NIGHTMARE!!! Thursday of last week internet goes off and on off and on. So I make a appt with a tech to come out on sunday. Sunday comes and the tech doesnt step foot inside my house and says its something to do with the outside. So he has to have the maintenance crew come to look at the line. Now Monday is here and the line crew says it has something to do with the inside of my house. Now Tuesday the tech looks inside my house and tells me its something outside my house. Now the geniuses have finally realized thats its the main hub that needs to be worked on and it will be fixed first thing wednesday morning. Well We are now on Wednesday and it was fixed this morning and somehow they have managed to screw it up again and its back to not working. With 5 houses in my neighborhood having the same problem you would think there would be a little bit more urgency to get this fixed. Guess what they have told me now? TOMORROW ANOTHER TECH WILL COME. The absolute worst tech support I have ever had to deal with. FIX SOMETHING!!!!!! update-After a week of trying to get this fixed. They came out and fixed it and the last few technicians were more than knowledgeable. They more than made up for the nightmare of the previous week. I even recieved a letter a couple weeks later from a higher up at charter. Very impressed how this was handled. No problems ever since. But I would suggest have a senior tech come out to do ANY of your work if you have problems. read more

Pure garbage company with terrible service and questionable (at best) business practices. After experiencing their substandard service for over 2 years, they claimed I did not turn in their tuner box. They told me I owed them over $200 for this box, and I called to let them know that this box was taken by their technician when I had my Tivo tuner put in. They had to give me a receiver for the Tivo to work, which I turned in when I moved. I told the guy we no longer needed the tuner from Charter so he took it. I should have been receiving about $10 off every bill for not using it, but never did. Also, their service would be out for days at a time and they never offered us any discounts on our bill. When I told the customer service person we had given the box to the technician she said they don't take them because they are independent contractors. Ok, so I've moved and had the whole house searched and it isn't there, so . . . maybe this should get written off since I have been overpaying for two years anyway? Nope. They never contacted me again, never sent me another bill (they had my updated address) and a year later they sent me to collections. This is how they treat the people in their community. I have two small children, always pay my bills, and now I have this single collection on my credit which has made me pay more for everything I am financing. They could have at least let me pay the 30 or 40 bucks they sold the account to the collection agency for, but no. They are despicable. Do anything you can to avoid using their services. read more

Absolutely the worst DVR in the industry . If it records at all it doesn't record in HD like I wanted it to . Records the same program on multiple channels or locks itself up . Can only record 2 things at once and cannot change the channel .They just recently upgraded my house connections which should've been done years ago , but I pay a premium price . Installed on the 20th. Plugged phone in late on the 21st. By 9:30 am on the 22nd, I had three solicitation calls. Each one had my name. CHARTER SELLS YOUR INFO! I've been on hold over 15 minutes in order to complain. The rep told me the supervisors DECLINED to take my call. I told her to tell her boss his job is customer service, and this customer requires service or I will take my business elsewhere. ATT is still an option. At this point, I'm about to drive to their offices here in Turlock to complain. 20 minutes on hold after selling my NAME is unacceptable. The call ended up taking 32 minutes. Most of that was on hold. I spoke with John from the Phillipines. When I said that his agent told me he declined to take my call, I said that wasn't the problem. The problem was that he didn't come. I said what should have taken ten minutes has now taken over 20 minutes, and that was unacceptable. I was "compensated" and told my number would not receive further calls. We will see. read more

My wife made an appointment to change our phone/internet/tv from U-verse to Spectrum a week or so ago. It was going to be a significant savings.... Today the tech comes to install everything, all is well, until we get to the phone. They didn't get the authorization from AT&T to transfer the phone number so they advised we had to wait another week to have the phone transferred. The problem is, we have a bundle with U-verse, so we'd be paying two bills waiting for the phone to be transferred. I mean, who does that? Comes to do a job and can't complete it! So after getting the run around and being lied to for hours, we decided that going with Charter Spectrum was a huge mistake and cancelled it all. Read some of these reviews before choosing charter. Sure enough, at first it was sorta shitty. Frequent disconnects, not reliable at all. Though I believe this was due to them expanding their infrastructure to enable 60mbs speed. The 2-3 months, there was probably a total of maybe 100 hours where my internet was down. Not terrible when put into perspective. About 9 months later and I haven't had any issues whatsoever. Charter has fixed their shit and it is solid now. Consistent 60mbs speed and no drops. Definitely recommend in the turlock area Update: Now a year and a half later, still no complaints. read more

They routinely double and triple bill for specialty services, their internet service is down more than working, and their customer service.department is rude and unprofessional. Crystal in particular is rude, arguementative and looks for every means to try to make the problem the customers not the company.
