Chart House is absolutely stunning -- the views, the vibe, the whole atmosphere had me thinking this appetizer was about to be a hit. But unfortunately...the calamari did not get the memo. The dish came out already drenched in sauce, which instantly took away any chance of crispiness. Instead of that light crunch you hope for, everything was a little chewy and soggy, and the sauce kind of overwhelmed the whole plate. Honestly, it looked more like a tossed stir-fry than a classic calamari appetizer. Beautiful restaurant, yes. Gorgeous ambiance, absolutely. But this calamari? Not their strongest moment. I'd definitely try something else next time. Service was okay but I was not impressed.

I've wanted to go to the chart house for years. I had to go downtown early weekday evening and decided to stop in for happy hour with a few friends. The chart house has a nice large parking lot. The building reminds me of an aquarium with its stone and concrete and rounded walls. We went right to the bar area. It was quite crowded, but we managed to grab a small high top for four. This place has beautiful views of the water, but unfortunately, you can't see them when sitting in the bar area. I did take a walk around the restaurant and I saw a very nice salad bar in the middle of the restaurant. I was also able to see the seating arrangements at the window where you can take advantage of the view. I'm keeping that area in mind from my next visit. Happy hour here last for several hours so there's no need to rush. It took a while for a server to recognize us but once he did, we received excellent service. Our drinks and food were excellent, but the high top tables are very tight. So if you order more than two items and drinks it's really cramped. My vodka martini with blue cheese olives was delicious. I actually asked the server if I could have one or two more and he told me they didn't have enough because they stuffed them themselves. I thought this was kind of a weird answer because I've always asked for extra blue cheese olives wherever I go, and I have never heard an answer like this . Perhaps he could've scrounged up one more olive? Chart House had many specials at happy hour which included yummy truffle fries served in an upright cone basket. We also had coconut shrimp & some beef sliders as well as, warm spinach dip. The spinach dip was the only disappointment and I would not order it again. I'm looking forward to coming back for a proper meal and sitting at one of the tables by the window.

It's such a cool place with an amazing view. The service has always been good. The food is decent. The happy hour is great! Highly recommend the pomegranate martini and truffle fries. The ahi tuna nachos are just okay The carbonara isn't as heavy as you'd expect and has some pretty good chunks of lobster. The grouper and mango sticky rice were good as well.

We originally were going to Ruth Chris but plans changed -- and I was pleasantly surprised with our plan b. We ended up doing Happy hour which was tops. They had a great menu with a variety of options for food and drinks at different price points. We had the lettuce wraps, kimchee calamari and the sliders. We liked everything but my fave was the calamari. Service was amazing.

Amazing happy hour! It gets crowded so get there early or be okay with standing! The view across the street John's River is gorgeous (minus the jail). The service was phenomenal even though they were overwhelmed. The truffle fries and the spinach artichoke dip were good!

Matt, Priscilla, and Haze provided great service that was very professional. The view of the river and downtown Jacksonville was spectacular. The prime rib and clam chowder were just fine amazing. The lobster bisque soup, shrimp entrée and salmon were also on point. A very delicious and delightful dining experience !

First let me start with Taylor our server was fantastic. Prompt, polite, friendly - he was spot on. The ambiance was as we remembered it but with a few updates. They kept the same vibe and Chart house has been here since 1982 so it's no accident they are successful. For a Wednesday night, while it wasn't full, it was still pretty busy. We came to experience the Mo-better together November (2024) special. The Chart House family is teaming up with Movember Foundation to support men's health. $5 from every meal will be donated to Movember Foundation. For $90, you choose an appetizer, entree, and side to share, then you finish with a shared chocolate lava cake with freshly made home made ice cream. They ask you what flavor from vanilla, pumpkin, vanilla, or maple pecan when you order because they have to make it when it's ready to be served. We were skeptical but took a chance at this meal and let me tell you we were pleasantly surprised. We did decide to add on the salad bar which for me was a no brainer. Ample options for building a salad, but also constructed Caesar salad available on the bar. Also had some fruit options and a caviar section which I enjoyed. We also had some cocktails and the meal was accompanied by complimentary bread. Pictured is my chocolate and bourbon old fashioned. Our choice of the raw bar appetizer came with 4 oysters, 4 extra large cocktail shrimp, and I would estimate about a 2 oz portion of poke. Our entree' was a filet mignon and shrimp skewer which arrived on a hanging skewer presentation and served table side. Probably 8 oz filet and 4 jumbo shrimp. The side we chose was smashed fingerlings which we both had a serving each. The chocolate lava cake was a great finish. I did take home some filet, shrimp, and fingerlings for lunch tomorrow so serving sizes were more than adequate. Kudos to Chart House for keeping it going strong!

My friend and I went to the Chart House on a show night, which created complications. Although we got there on time, because of some traffic issues, some of the staff had run late so although we gad 5:30pm reservations we didn't get to our table until close to six. We ordered some wine, which took a while; thankfully, we got some very good bread while we waited. We did end up ordering the chocolate lava cake at around 6:09 PM thinking we would have time to enjoy it before we had to leave but we didn't get our food until after 6:30 so we had to cancel the lava cake in order to get to our 7 o'clock show in time. The staff was amazing, the food was good, but I think I would probably not do the Chart House on a show night and if I did, I would make sure to be there at least two hours before the show instead of an hour and a half. The food we did have was very good. I was just sad that I didn't get to enjoy it with the stress of getting to our show on time. The Chart House is elegant and our view of the river was lovely.

Happy hour is great! They have wonderful drinks on happy hour. I luv the pomegranate martini! Super good! We had the sliders, which were good but the truffle fries were amazing!

I've been here once before for happy hour and everything was amazing. However, I visited again for my birthday and the service and view were amazing. However our food was not that great. I mean it was good but something was missing. Still giving them 5 stars with hopes that it was just an off night.

Great ambiance on the river. This has been a Jacksonville staple for a long time. We first visited back in the 80's as a very special occasion restaurant. It lost some of its appeal in the early 2000's, but on this recent visit, we were pleasantly surprised. The inside was renovated, the service was excellent, particularly our server, Taylor, did a great job, was very polite and attentive and friendly. The food was well prepared and tasted great, with good sized portions. We will definitely add the Chart House back to our destination restaurant list.

It's been 40 years since I was able to get back to enjoy this fine restaurant. The food is out of this world delicious. Wife had the Prime Rib and I tried the 9oz filet. Incredible flavor from both selections.

We hadn't been here in many years. Made reservations for a large party. The food was great, especially the salmon. Our server, Heather, got everything right. The restaurant building has a fascinating history. The cost is somewhat pricey but worth it.

I enjoyed the food; however, I think some details were missing or off for the price point. For example, the rib eye was requested for medium temp; however, it was medium rare and very chewy. The broiled ocean platter was kind of skimpy for the price point, and the shrimp & lobster diavolo were pretty good (though lobster wasn't very tender and slightly rubbery). I also wasn't given a pasta spoon- so had slight difficulty eating it. It took quite a while for us to get our food, approx 45 minutes? Our waitress was very kind and checked in- but forgot the lemons I had asked for- for the waters. We had inputted in our reservation request to not be in the center- and we were sat in the middle; though, 80% of the tables were empty. So, all in all, it was good but for the price point, I had higher expectations.

They let me sub a HUGE side salad for the fries. Enjoyed the vanilla ice cream a lot but not the apple tart. The tart was 90 or 95% cinnamon bun and i could hardly find apples. Fruit tarts are usually more fruit than crust; thats what i expected. Apple cinnamon bun eould be a better description. Beautiful ambience indoors. Lots of parking behind the restaurant at 4 PM on a Friday.

An island of 4 seats that look at the other diners sitting at the tables inside. It's odd and Colette told us that the owners were planning on building an expanded space in the near future. The tasting menu is a seven course meal. If desired, you can choose to add a wine pairing. We got one wine pairing that we split - it was more than enough and the Brine folks were kind enough to put the wine into two glasses. As for the courses we had for our meal? Course 1 Champagne PEI oysters Each oyster included a different topping. There was butter. And chorizo. And caviar. Each was delicious and very different. A perfect way to start the meal. The champagne was also a great. Course 2 Riesling Yellow tail (hamachi) crudo with pineapple. The pineapple was prepared three ways. And while the wine was very dry and minerally (is that a word?) it worked PERFECTLY with the sweetness of the pineapple. To me this pairing worked the best. Course 3 Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand Tuna tartar with aioli on a fried panko crusted seaweed cracker. The tuna flavor was delicate and worked well on top of the seaweed cracker. Again, the wine worked very well with the flavors of the fish. Course 4 Chanin blanc Salad with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, vinaigrette and butter and mashed potato and potato crisps. Lettuce and mashed potatoes? I don't know how. I don't know why. But it works. Really, really well. They're like mad scientists at Brine and they may be building a monster out of body parts. But darn it the potato/salad combo was fantastic! Course 5 Oaked Chardonnay Lobster cannelloni This was probably my favorite dish. The lobster filling was awesome and I literally wanted to fill a cup with the sauce and drink it through a straw. If you're not going to try the tasting menu I would highly recommend this for an entree. Course 6 Waygu shortrib and scallops and parsnips Ochetti langhe nebbiolo The scallops are sliced thin, which I liked a lot. The shortrib was good. I like parsnip, but I felt that its flavor overshadowed the flavors of the beef and the scallop. It's a tasty dish, but wasn't my favorite. Course 7 Cheesecake bread pudding with bourbon ice cream Chocolate pearls chocolate marscapone orange chocolate cake Solera 1847 Creme dulce Sherry Colette brought us two different desserts to try instead of each of us having the same. Both were fantastic. I think I liked the chocolate cake one more while my wife really enjoyed the cheesecake. The sherry was fine but didn't really add anything to the desserts. Course 8 (extra) Sugar cookie with vanilla ice cream and caviar. This was an extra treat that they brought. A cookie ice cream sandwich with caviar on it. Again, why does it work? I don't get it! But it was super tasty. We were both really full by this point but ate it all! Each course isn't a huge, but by the end we were stuffed. And splitting the wine was a good way let us drive home! The tasting menu is a great way to try Brine and the many of the flavor combinations they're putting together. It's not an inexpensive meal. But we knew that going in. The cost may turn some people off, but this was a fantastic meal with some wonderful staff. I don't play video games too much anymore. And I don't remember the Pac Man song. But I love food, and I know that if you do as well you'll love Brine!
