This has been on my Jacksonville bucket list for years, ever since I saw the funky design from the river walk. We were seated near a window overlooking the St. John's River and our city skyline, near the Jags stadium. We didn't request it and I don't know if you can but I would definitely ask. What can I say I'm absolutely disappointed in these so called $$$ sign restaurants. First it was our anniversary dinner which I made reservations for table was not I asked for but we took our seats anyway. Lobster bisque soup had more wine then cream horrible for $16 The crab cake for $22 is a waste of money as it was cold internally and old crabmeat add insult to injury. The dinner was not impressive I had the shrimp and lobster pasta with bacon which was COLD AMD DRY AS F!"&k not to mention small ass portion for $40 over all this is not a $$$ restaurant by any means save your money and cook at home sucks but this is Jacksonville and people Here I think don't know what food is I'm convinced. We used go to marker 32 on beach Blvd every anniversary but I have to let everyone know how they cater to only people they like and bump customers out of their reservation to accommodate a jaguars manager I'll never for get that . Somewhat disappointed. The staff seemed indifferent toward us. Took over 10 minutes after we were seated to get a drink. Our waitress was not knowledgeable about the menu. She had to go to the kitchen to get the answers to simple questions. When leaving we noticed they had put a tablecloth over the salad bar which means they were saving it for tomorrow. Nothing is fresh. Our fish, which was the special, I could tell it had been frozen. It was not flakey like grouper is normally. The fish was mushy. A bit overpriced for what you get. read more

Expectations were high based on the pictures I saw but food was a bit of a disappointment. Our steak was totally burnt on the outside and mashed potatoes tasted overwhelmingly like garlic powder. The service was good though, our waiter was also our host and bartender and I've got to feel for the guy who is probably over it at this point. Investments need to be made in the kitchen. Everything is as subpar. My food was cold by the time I finished detailing the shrimp, I wouldn't have order that if the menu would have provided the proper information that the stuffed shrimp had tails. My boyfriend had to use the bathroom, he picked the perfect time because if he hadn't he would've had a kitchen staff in his personal space making a table. Understandable you have to make a table but we were already cramped, which brings me to my next point We made reservations and got an absolutely horrible view, let me rephrase I got a view. My boyfriend wasn't as fortunate the glass was dirty and it's mainly the fact that he chose this restaurant *for the view.* he made reservations *for the view.* and then the cherry on top when we received the check our waitress left a heart on it. My boyfriend and I went here because the hotel we stayed at was right across the street and they told us it was great. We walked in and said it would be an hour wait (more than half of the tables were empty). We said that was fine and went to the bar to get drinks while we waited. Our drinks were good. I ended up getting a Bloody Mary which tasted fine it wasn't the best in the world. But my boyfriend had an old fashion which was REALLY good. We looked at the menu and WOW! everything was very expensive. We ordered the fried green tomatoes for starters then oysters for our main course. The Fried Green tomates weren't all that great. The batter was over powering and I ended up having only one. They oysters were just pain oysters, nothing special. When it was time for the bill it took the waiter FOREVER to give us the bill. I don't plan on ever going back and the only reason it was good was because of the company I was with. read more

The Chart House is coming back into its own. They have great, affordable bar snacks, good strong alcoholic beverages and prompt and efficient wait staff in the bar. Chart House is one of the best places in the urban core to go for bar snacks. It's parking lot is starting to fill up again. All that is needed are a few repairs here and there to things like cabinet doors and drawers. The Chart House is a unique icon of Jacksonville which is deserving of historic preservation and first rate food service. I am very pleased to patronize this wonderful venue once again. We urge everyone downtown to give it another chance. read more

My husband took me to Chart House to celebrate my birthday. Terrell made our visit very special and memorable. The food was delicious and the view of the river was spectacular. This was the PURRFECT dining experience for us on Thanksgiving Day. So grateful for Chart House. The building itself is a feast for the eyes. The food look, smelled, and tasted divine. My favorite? The baked brie and the "autumn salad". But, seriously, it was all delicious. The sole disappointment was the chocolate lava cake dessert - there was not much "lava" to it. BUT it was a delicious warm brownie served with the most exquisite vanilla ice cream!! One of the top-5 winning points here was our waiter, Bobby. Seriously, as three women we don't often get a good table or good service. Bobby was incredibly attentive, anticipating our needs before we realized them ourselves. I cannot express to you how impeccable his timing was. There was even a moment when he asked if he could bring more bread and we said no only to realize moments later we actually wanted some. And he was right there! Smiling and attending to us. The TIMING! Oh, my goodness, when you have a feast like that, you want the plates to come out in order and without delay but also without pushing the clock. And - WOW - did they deliver. The best, most delightful 2-hour dining experience I've had - possibly ever! - on a Thanksgiving. As we were leaving we accidentally dropped our cheesecake leftover. What did the do? Immediately replaced it with an understanding smile. No muss, no fuss. Brilliant! Well done! Keep it up! We will be back! read more

We had a part of 11 for dinner last night, I made the Opentable and also called to confirm over a week in advance. There was not adequate staffing to handle our table and we had a concert to get to. Our reservation was at 5:45 pm. Drinks took forever to come out, and food did not come out until after 7 pm!! We ordered as soon as we could and could tell that it was going to be slow so we even asked for our checks to be processed right after we ordered our food. We didn't get out of there until 7:30 pm, almost 2 hours after arrival, due to food not coming out til 7:00 and then an entire steak entree was forgotten. My friend had to scarf down her $55 steak alone because everyone else had already eaten and we were waiting on the steak. The restaurant didn't even comp her meal or try to give a discount of some sort to make up for the mistake. If you have somewhere you need to be, even 2 hours of allowance for dinner with a big group might be a stretch and you'll find yourself rushing. On the positive side, the food was very good. Steaks, tuna stacks, salmon, shrimp, etc were high quality and delicious. Overall - I'd consider going back for happy hour but wouldn't pay those prices again for that experience. read more

Made a dinner reservation with my girlfriend, and I could say we were terribly deflated on this experience when I made the reservation. We attended March 9 at 8:30 and we got there at 8:25. The host still told us we had to wait for a table even though there were tables open. I asked for a secluded area with a view of the water, and they sat us at a table away from the water which was hilarious. We didn't get water as soon as we sat down for 20 minutes, our server was some young lady with dark hair and she was running around like a headless chicken. She forgot my truffle butter for my steak as well. The food made up for everything, however, really good food. However, the service was terrible, and even the host as we left, gave a snarky look as we were leaving. It's a shame that a restaurant in a good area with good food could have such terrible customer service. read more

The food is pretty good here and so is the service. The dishes are fresh and the quality of the ingredients as good as well. I ordered the corn, spinach gnocchi, grilled shrimp and scallops for $38. And it was worth every penny. The spinach gnocchi was made from scratch and was so soft and creamy. My dish definitely could have had a few more pieces of it. The shrimp and the scallops were grilled perfectly. My husband order the prime rib (Callahan Cut - 18 oz) for $41.50 with mashed potatoes. He seemed to enjoy it. The salad bar runs about $18 if you're not purchasing anything else but can be purchased for an additional $10 if you have purchased an entree. The salad bar had so many options and some of my favorite things to eat on salad. They also have pre-made salads with various fresh ingredients for example: pasta salads. You could also ask the chef to make salads in the back and have them brought to the table. The dressings were homemade which is always a plus. They even had anchovy and caviar. I did order the crab, mango, avocado stack as an appetizer, which had a few hard pieces in it that I could not detect exactly what it was and it wasn't nearly as flavorful as expected. I've had this several places and I've never had the blue crab presented as some type of crab salad on the top. It also didn't have very much of the lump meat which was disappointing. I also had the steam oysters which were just okay. It wasn't the best nor was it the worst. The presentation of all the other dishes were great but the oysters were a little messy. Chart House is a part of the Landry's group of restaurants, but they do one heck of a job to make your experience memorable! I've dined at this location several times & it has yet to disappoint. The food is outstanding. Most recently, I tried the Thai Coconut Ginger soup on their winter menu & it was exceptional...so good that I wanted a second bowl! The salad bar is always a winner--you can't go wrong. Crisp vegetables, prepared cold salads (definitely get a scoop of the blue cheese potato salad!), freshly tossed Caesar, & even a decadent display of caviar & its accoutrements. The service is impeccable. We recently went to celebrate my Birthday & the staff & our server made the entire evening special from start to finish. Yes, it's pricey, but a worthwhile treat. And go for Happy Hour! It's a great way to try discounted cocktails & apps & still enjoy the atmosphere of this lovely restaurant. read more

Chairs are comfortable. Dislikes: The Oscar style topping on the Filet Mignon steak was a bit pricey considering the size and the asparagus was woody, hard & burnt on the ends. The salad bar was about average at best. They did offer a couple of unique items but other then that, I've seen better choices. Butter for the bread was bland. Ohhh no no no. I haven't been this turned off from a restaurant in a while. 6:15pm reservation for a BIG birthday. My dear family member turned 70. What a 2021 blessing after all the heart ache from covid. A blessing! We sit down and our sever didn't come to us until 15 mins later.. ok no big deal. We finally get to place our drink and appetizer order. Let me put it to you this way.. 30 MINUTES LATER OUR APPETIZERS COME OUT! Our drink are nowhere in site. 10 mins later after the appetizer come FINALLY the sever comes and I have to ask for our drinks.. ok so you do the math with time. We've been here FOREVER. So we get the first round of drinks. TheN Another 20 to actually order our meals. And let me tell you we chose this place over CAPITAL GRILLE... not to be a food snob but I quickly realized we weren't in Kansas anymore... I'm livid. I knew it wasn't going to be a half decent evening. That was the understatement of the year. So where are we, drinks at this point are being delivered and then right away we are placing a new ordered as we now know they are going to take a life time to get it. Dinner orders placed and 45 mins later it comes out. Im pretty sure I laughed out loud. Everything is charred and horribly burned. The shrimp burned, filet burned, Brussels so hard you can't get a fork into them. I'm spitting FIRE. I'm mortified I took my aunt here over capital. My husband at this point is upset and embarrassed he went to request a manager. It's now 8:30pm... the manager, sir i'm sorry but you need to take course... as I am explaining all of our issues he doesn't know how to handle the situation. "Im sorry, would you like a piece of cheese cake?" I didn't know whether to laugh or flip the table jersey house wife style ... clearly our statements weren't good enough as far as complaining about the awful service and horrific food. I then told him the establishment was a joke for high end food based off their prices and they in-fact should be embarrassed... as they should. They brought us out lava cakes... THEY WERE HARD AS A ROCK! I died laughing I couldn't help it at this point.. what else do I have to lose lol. He graciously took $100 off of our $400 bill as if that were supposed to make up for something. It was never about the money... $400 for a 70th birthday is NOT an insane amount as we expect a amazing meal out of it with a lasting memory! Long story short never again. This was our second time to the Chart House in Jacksonville. This restaurant had been around for sometime in the city. Very interesting architectural design. My wife and I were there for Valentine's Day dinner. We went for the special which is $140 for 3 course meal with multiple permutation options. 2 glasses of wine ($13 each). We added the octopus appetizer ($19) which I encourage you to try. Plus tip ended up being about $230 or so. +/- Valet Plenty of parking and valet is available if needed. We had a table between the kitchen and the windows and we were able to see the kitchen staff scrambling with people's orders on a busy night working non-stop. We are very thankful that they are spending time away from their loved ones so that they can prepare dinner for us. Two separate managers stopped by to give us updates on our orders... We understand! I wonder if it is because people complained about the wait. We wondered what type of society we are becoming that we demand or "deserve" to be served before others during a busy night out? Came here for my wedding anniversary. Read the mixed reviews and was debating on going somewhere else, but I'm glad I didn't. Food was delicious, I had oysters and Prime Rib, my wife also got Prime rib and she also had multiple plates of salad. Solid 4 stars for the food I would return just for that. The Service was fantastic. Very friendly & knowledgeable of the menu. Our waiter made multiple suggestions if we were wanting seafood and made suggestions if we were wanting steak. The river view we had were some of the best in Jacksonville. Great views of the stadium, Vystar area, hart bridge and main street bridge. I seen multiple views saying the place was outdated. Is it an old building, yes. Outdated, no. It's an old building that adds to the experience at least in my opinion. When you add the food, service and views I'm giving it 5 stars. I went to Chart House during a work trip and enjoyed it. I have a serious gluten allergy and the waiter was knowledgeable on what I could/couldn't have. They have a separate gluten free printed menu which is terrific in concept but it still included slightly questionable gluten-containing items (ie, herb "crusted" prime rib). Anything the waiter didn't feel certain on re: gluten, he double checked with the chef and other waitstaff, which is tremendously appreciated! As far as the F&B, I had the house wine, octopus, salad bar, mahi and mashed potatoes. Everything was great! I was also scouting the restaurant for a potential event and it had a great vibe. Their semi private dining area feels much more like a private area. My only nit picky comments is that the restaurant has a slight musty/"dated" smell when you walk in (maybe from the waterfall or the carpet?) and the windows need a thorough cleaning in order to fully enjoy a crisp view of the water. read more

If the restaurant is at full capacity, there will be a tight maneuver with seating and getting to/from table. Matre D was knowledgeable and welcoming guests for dining. Our waitress was subpar for customer service and the menu. Please do not insult patrons by calling me "honey". Waitress could not count to 4! Lack of experience and glasses to begin the dining experience. Placed orders and she could not even remember what was ordered. I stated my order 3xs and hoped it would be arrive as requested. Ordered the Chart prime rib small size, medium rare with 3mashed potatoes and side of mushrooms. Others on the party got coconut shrimp and salad, plus the grouper and salad bar. Plus some glasses of wine. Service was downhill with the waitress. Maybe she was having an off day or a scenario of wanting to be and do something else. She was a complete ditz and lacked the ambition of bring in customer service and hospitality industry. Not to mention, I had to fill my water glass each time except the first due to lack of attention. The food was edible but nothing to rave about. Prices were well above average. The temperature was very chilly eating and I could not shake chills from being so cold. My nose felt frozen as if sitting in a hockey arena. My parents chose to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary here, and they invited me to come eat dinner with them. We have always heard of this Jacksonville spot, but have never had the chance to visit. When you pull into the parking lot, you have the option of complimentary valet or self-parking. I went with the latter, since I have a new car and am hesitant to have anyone else handle my car. There were plenty of parking spots to choose from, and I was able to walk in. There is a gorgeous, but loud, waterfall when you walk through the doors. The first thing I noticed was the beautiful atmosphere inside, with low lighting, wood, and unique art all throughout the restaurant. I was able to check in with the hostess and sit down at a table with a view of the water. There is an option to sit in the bar and lounge area, where they offer happy hour specials not available in the dining room. I stuck with my favorite drink at the moment, rum and coke, with my choice of rum being Captain Morgan's. I ended up having two all together, and they were well blended! My mom ordered the Moscow Mule, which she said tasted delicious. My dad is a craft beer fan, so he stuck with Bold City's Mad Manatee and Duke's Brown Ale. Our server was super friendly and made sure that the evening was special for my parents. He was gracious, full of suggestions, and accommodating. There was no room for complaints, since everything went smoothly. We started off our meal with the hummus platter appetizer. It is large enough to feed three people (or more), and comes with perfectly shaped balls of kalamata olive hummus, avocado hummus, and red pepper hummus. They are served with sides of pita bread and crispy fried plantain chips. We all enjoyed it and wiped the plate clean. For dinner, we all chose different dishes. I chose to try the 10 oz. Chart House Cut Prime Rib, which was a large portion for me and came served with Yukon mashed potatoes. It was my first time trying prime rib, so I didn't realize how fatty the meat would be, so keep that in mind if you are more of a filet mignon eater. But the meat that I did eat without fat was juicy and tender. My mom chose the Snapper Hemingway, which was a delicate, buttery fish with vegetable orzo as a side. My dad went with the stuffed shrimp, which I noticed he didn't share with anyone else, so it must have been good! Finally for dessert, my mom chose the creme brulee, topped with fresh raspberries. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful night. I would highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions! I believe that the visit was worth every dime spent. Food was delicious, I had Prime Rib and also had Oysters as my starter, service was top of the line, very friendly and knowledgeable of everything on the menu. We had a fantastic view of the Saint John's River. I read multiple reviews saying how outdated the building and decor was, I didn't feel this way. Is the building old, Yes.
