Christmas dinner was good. Unfortunately I wasn't hungry so I didn't get at it like I wanted to but what I had was better than I thought it would be when I saw it. I honestly forgot what I ordered when it came out and I was confused as to what it was when I saw them bringing it until they told me what it was. Once I tasted it, I was completely surprised by the taste and that I enjoyed it so much. That's a slice of tomato that they put the crab cake on. That tomato was cooked to add the right amount of flavor to the crabcake when eaten together although I ate half together and half separately because it was so good that I wanted both experiences. I should've started with the drink because it came first and it was the feature of my night but they say you should save the best for last. If you like chocolate and bourbon or any type of whiskey, you will likely love this drink. You can taste the chocolate in the drink but it isn't overpowering and it doesn't make the drink too sweet. Next time I will see if they can smoke it. I did say next time because I do have to come back and try a meal since I only had an app however, I will say that this app was in the shareable section and I just can't see how you share one crabcake. Food The food is okay--I've definitely had better steaks elsewhere. Service The customer service is lacking. It seems to stem from management and how staff are treated. The manager with the low haircut was not welcoming and came across as rude to both customers and employees. Overall, both management and staff could be more friendly and engaging. They offer specialty cocktails, but they're not promoted or prepared with any enthusiasm. Ordering one feels like an inconvenience, which shouldn't be the case. The bartenders, in particular, could improve their customer interaction. I expected a higher level of service from an establishment like this. Ambiance The ambiance is nice, but there's a noticeable issue with the bar. It appears to be slanted, possibly due to foundation settling. If that's the case, it should be addressed. It's been 6 years since we dined at Chart House. We had a late lunch Saturday, March 14, 2026 & to our surprise the quality freshness of both the seafood & steak was outstanding‼. Definitely recommend Chart House. I intentionally gave 4 stars bc when we entered there was no line yet the 3 employees behind the host area desk were busy having a conversation & didn't stop until my husband asked if we could have a table for two. We went here to celebrate my son's and DIL's birthdays and we were all glad we did. My son made a great choice. He enjoyed the prime rib once again, I loved the shrimp linguini, my husband enjoyed his crab stuffed sole, and my DIL loved her seafood bouillabaisse. Our appetizers were tasty, too - hummus and the crispy, spicy tuna. The atmosphere is very relaxing and located at a great spot along the water. I haven't been to Chart House in years until just a few days ago for lunch. The restaurant ambiance was calm and inviting. Our server, Elle, was friendly and accommodating. I ordered the shrimp tacos which were good, but could have used a little more shrimp and possibly a salsa. The sweet potato fries were freshly cut and fried to perfection with a hint of salt. I would order my meal again. Others I had lunch with indicated their meals were good as well, especially the crab cake sandwich, clam chowder and fish and chips. Inattentive service. Inconsiderate management. I was there with a party of 10 to celebrate a family member's 80th birthday. While we really didn't have issues with the food, the service, or lack of service therof was disturbing. The patron should never have to fill their own water glasses.... multiple times. Erin, the acting manager was rude and confrontational - 100% unapologetic. Her justification was that normal service for a couple of two takes around 1.5 hours, so 2 hours was just fine. I also emailed the GM. I have not received a response after nearly a week. Please save yourself time and effort (especially with Mothers Day coming soon). It is my birthday and we made our reservation a month in advance because it is Valentine's Day as well. Got here 10 minutes before the time and check in and there was a wait. The restaurant is old and in need of an upgrade. There was no ambience. The salmon was just ok, the table next to us returned her meal twice. After that it was ok. Calamari was pretty good - i liked how it remained crispy with the sauce. My main was filet and shrimp, i was able to sub the mashed potatoes for the cucumber tomato salad which, strangely, was the best part of my meal. The filet was cooked to temp (med) but lacked any flavor.. not even salt. The shrimp was plainly grilled and dry with not a lick of seasoning anywhere. I was reminded why I dont patronize this place- id been a couple times before years ago (and to the other location) and never had a memorable meal. My dad's food lacked taste (pasta dish) too- this was Father's Day so i'm kinda upset we didnt choose somewhere else. $300+ for a lackluster meal. This prime rib hash dish seemed like it was made up of leftover items that were in the kitchen this morning. And it cost 27 dollars!! It was made of the same type of meat that is used in cheesesteaks. But less meat. They should be ashamed of themselves. And the cheddar waffles were dry and flavorless and not good at all. While in the area for my friend's son's graduation from the Naval Academy over Memorial Weekend, we met up with one of my cousins in the area for brunch/lunch after we went to Arlington Cemetery. The weather was beautiful. They didn't have outside seating available but were able to fairly quickly seat us inside with a window view of the water. We enjoyed the food and the view. I am incredibly shocked to see this place only has 3.5 stars. I did not check Yelp before coming here, which I usually do, and I usually only pick restaurants with 4+ stars due to experience. I am glad this was a fluke because this places deserves FIVE STARS. Everything was fabulous. Our waitress Caroline was very sweet, attentive, and helpful. We brought our small kid and he got a birthday Sunday at the end with a candle. The hostess was wonderful and allowed us to sit at a table next to the window over the water. The inside was very elegant with a low ambiance. Low lights and clothed tables. The bar was fabulous and had amazing cocktail options. The menu, in my opinion, was not overpriced. The prices were fair for seafood and the experience and worth every dime. They had a great selection for the kids menu. We ordered the Mac and cheese with the broccolini, which was a nice size! I ordered the shellfish dish with scallops, shrimp, and mussels. It typically comes as a boil with bread, but our waitress recommended adding pasta, which was a fantastic choice! The sauce was amazing and light. It was very light but flavorful. The seafood was cooked excellent. You also get starter bread, which was delicious. The crackers and pumpernickel bread were a fan favorite. The butter was fluffy and the bread added perfectly to my dish. I also ordered a small side of the asparagus, which came with a decent portion and was cooked with melted butter and bread crumbs. My boyfriend had the meal with a clam chowder (could choose salad), the prime rib with mashed potatoes, and a lava cake. The clam chowder was excellent. Not fishy and very creamy. All the potatoes, veggies, and clam were small sizes not large chunks. It was amazing. The lava cake was PHENOMENAL. By far one of my favorite desserts. I would order this as a stand alone it was so good. It was perfectly molten with chocolate sauce and nuts on top. It had a crust with a gooey inside. I came to Chart House on a Saturday afternoon. I was in the area strolling my kids around and looking for a stroller friendly spot. Chart House conveniently has a ramp leading to the entrance so that you don't have to lug your strollers up some stairs. The view of the water is beautiful on a nice, sunny day. The wait time was about 20 minutes without a reservation and we were seated in about 10 minutes. We ordered the following: - Seared Peppered Ahi Tuna - This is ideal to share between two people. This comes with Avocado, Cabbage Slaw and Wonton Salad. This was okay, not terrible and not amazing. The downfall of the plate would be the wasabi... it tasted like it came out of a tube. - Smash Burger - This comes with Diner Sauce, Cheddar, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions and Pickles. You also get a choice of Skinny Fries or Sweet Potato Fries. Again, not terrible and not amazing... it was okay. - Lobster Roll - This is a classic Maine Lobster (served cold). I was not a fan of this... I like my lobster served in chunks versus finely shredded. The flavor was lacking. This also comes with a choice of Skinny Fries or Sweet Potato Fries. - Kids Chicken Tenders - This was honestly the best thing that we ordered. The Chicken Tenders were perfectly cooked, juicy and flavorful. This also came with a side of Skinny Fries. Despite the majority of our food being average, I still think this is a great option if you are in the area due to the view if you are able to be seated outside and the wonderful staff. The food came out super fast, which was such a blessing especially with two young kids we know our meal time is limited! The staff were pleasant, polite and attentive. We were checked on multiple times throughout our meal. I may have just ordered the wrong menu items so I would definitely come back if I am in the area to try other menu items :) read more

I went here with my family over the Easter holiday, and we had a pretty bad experience. Our waiter was unfriendly and didn't have any knowledge of the menu when we asked for recommendations. I ordered a drink they had run out of the ingredients for it and when I asked what he'd recommend for something similar he was like "no one ever orders that so I don't know," which seemed dubious as they'd run out of the ingredients. My mom's fish was super undercooked and was pink inside when it came out. Other items came out cold. I've found this location to be very different from the one in Annapolis, particularly when it comes to service. In Alexandria, there was no warm greeting, no mention of specials, no offer for dessert--none of the thoughtful touches I've come to expect. Even the basics were lacking; instead of offering to box my leftovers, they handed me a Styrofoam container to do it myself. For a $200 dinner, this felt low-budget and disappointing. Is this the new standard? A great view and cozy fireplace can only do so much if the experience feels more like Five Guys in disguise. I ordered the filet, and my husband had the halibut. He said it was fine. My filet, however, was missing the mushroom truffle butter I specifically ordered. I had to remind the server, and by the time it arrived--when my steak was already half-eaten--it looked curdled and unappetizing. Holding the standard in Old Town, the Chart House won't disappoint. Plenty of parking options in Old Town from street to lots. The Chart House is easy to find and sits right on the boardwalk. I enjoyed a wonderful liquid appetizer in my scorched apple Manhattan. They made a whole show of it at the table as they torched an apple peel and created a smoke that would live a hint of taste and smell with the bourbon. It was made beautifully I also ordered the Chilean sea bass with the Baja shrimp covered in island spiced salsa (mango and pineapple pico). Fish was cooked well, the shrimp were humongous. The rice pyramid complemented the tastes well. My buddy had a squid inked linguine.with shrimp and scallops. It looked just as good. FOMO was happening for sure. Another friend had a chocolate brownie and fudge volcano. I wasn't hungry, but I couldn't stop myself from having three bites... I will preface this review by saying we only stopped in for a glass of wine while visiting Alexandria. The staff were very welcoming and we were able to get a seat on the patio. It wasn't crowded since it was mid afternoon during the week. The ambiance and views from the patio are wonderful. We really enjoyed relaxing with a glass of wine on a beautiful patio on a spectacular day. The food we saw coming out looked and smelled delicious.
