Would love to give zero if I could. Showed up and was told first table is available 9:15pm. Made OpenTable reservation for 8:45pm. They give terrible table. Dining hall half empty. They sent us a table at the window and draw a random party from crowd and tell me they were slated for this table. I've found this location to be very different from the one in Annapolis, particularly when it comes to service. In Alexandria, there was no warm greeting, no mention of specials, no offer for dessert--none of the thoughtful touches I've come to expect. Even the basics were lacking; instead of offering to box my leftovers, they handed me a Styrofoam container to do it myself. For a $200 dinner, this felt low-budget and disappointing. Is this the new standard? A great view and cozy fireplace can only do so much if the experience feels more like Five Guys in disguise. I ordered the filet, and my husband had the halibut. He said it was fine. My filet, however, was missing the mushroom truffle butter I specifically ordered. I had to remind the server, and by the time it arrived--when my steak was already half-eaten--it looked curdled and unappetizing. Amazing experience from start to finish! The service was exceptional, and every staff member was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome. Especially their servers Brianna and Joseline. The food was outstanding every cut of meat was perfectly seasoned, tender, and served fresh. The salad bar had a huge variety of high-quality options, and everything tasted fresh. The atmosphere was elegant yet comfortable, making it a great place for a special occasion or a nice dinner out. I will preface this review by saying we only stopped in for a glass of wine while visiting Alexandria. The staff were very welcoming and we were able to get a seat on the patio. It wasn't crowded since it was mid afternoon during the week. The ambiance and views from the patio are wonderful. We really enjoyed relaxing with a glass of wine on a beautiful patio on a spectacular day. The food we saw coming out looked and smelled delicious. We decided to try their holiday dinner prix fixe after we had a great experience during restaurant week. We really enjoyed the Kim Chee Calamari last time so we started with it along with Caesar Salad and Lobster Bisque. I ordered the 10oz Prime Rib cooked medium rare, but it was clearly very rare. It was impossible to get a server's assistance because they were all on the bottom floor. At least the New York Strip was tolerable at medium temperature. I understand that it is very busy and hectic at any restaurant on a holiday. I also noticed other tables at the upper floor were also neglected. I came tonight with a pre-arranged group of over 60. We were seated in a nice room in the back of the restaurant, with a view of the water. The menu was fixed. First course was mixed green salad with dressing. Main course was a choice of (1) salmon with Baja shrimp, (2) shrimp with a salsa, or (3) prime rib. All entrees came with mashed potatoes and green beans. For dessert, key lime pie. I can't say anything other than the food was outstanding. The salad was a nice size. The salmon was perfectly cooked, tender and the sauce complemented the salmon perfectly. I'm going to try to reproduce the corn salsa at home. My partner requested their prime rib medium rare and it was delivered as requested, with the remaining diners who did not request a particular cooking level received what appeared to be medium well. The shrimp dish looked good. Everyone at my table ate all of their entree, leaving only a small amount of potato on some plates. I found the mashed potatoes to be very good and the green beans tasty and not mushy. The key lime pie was also very good. The service overall was quite good. We had our water glasses filled a couple of times and, although there were some delays and need to ask for something twice, there were a lot of people being served at the same time, also ordering drinks throughout the evening. The servers were friendly and worked hard. I have no complaints. If you're looking for a place to host a group, you might check out the Chart House. And I recommend the three entrees I mention above. Amazing meal and experience. Loved every bite. First, huge space on the water of Old Town. Great views with large open windows all around. Really good service despite being slammed on a Friday night. Lots of app options. I tried the Savory Burrata + Prosciutto. It was really good. Unique tastes with the sourdough toast. Really juicy tomatoes and enormous mozzarella ball. I really wanted to try the Coconut Crunchy Shrimp but maybe next time. For the entree, I wanted to try their signature three course food tour with salad, entree, and lava cake dessert (more on that later) but instead tried the NY Strip. It was fantastic. So tender it almost melted in the mouth. Nice flavors with the rub. Very good option. I also tasted the seabass. It was tasty. The sauce was sweet and limey. Good option. The dessert! Wow! It would make for a great Dr. Seuss novel but it didn't make for a great dining experience! This past Sunday, I attended a surprise birthday party for my second mom who was turning 70 at the Chart House. Upon arriving, we were told we could not be seated even though we had reservations because half our party was not there. Once we were seated, our servers greeted us, but the service itself was slow. We waited an hour to get drinks and bread. While waiting to get food, my second mom noticed something moving out of the corner of her eye and when we turned around we saw the Chart House Mouse crawling around the floor. Imagine a 70 year old 6'4 woman jumping around to keep her feet off the floor. The mouse traveled from one side of the room, to under one of guests coat, to another guest's feet. All of us were pretty disgusted by the matter, pointed out the mouse to the server and he ran to get the manager. After 20 minutes of sitting and wondering where the mouse and gone, the manager never came out. She spoke to my sister but never came out and addressed the whole table. We all were upset by the lack of care and sense of urgency that she possessed. We immediately left. I will not be returning to the Chart House. read more

After riding the tour boat around Dc to Georgetown and back to Old Town Alexandria we got off and had dinner at the chart House on Labor Day Saturday 2023. It was first come first serve to sit outdoors, and the servers are hostesses were very sweet about giving us a table in the shade. Ty was our waiter, and he was very attentive to our request, the place was very busy but had a beautiful view,. The coconut shrimp was a little over cooked, that she crab soup had very little crab, and the crab dip flavor was a little spicy. That's why they lost a star. This was my first time dining at chart house in Alexandria. My family went for Mother's Day and eating with a water view was aesthetically pleasing to say the least. There was a preset Mother's Day menu 3 course meal for $72 which wasn't bad at all. The server was extremely pleasant and did a great job. I ordered the lobster bisque soup which was very rich and great taste. For my entree I ordered the surf and turf which was very good as well. My brother and I ordered the Mojito flight for two. I wasn't too much a fan of the mango or the strawberry one. However, the blackberry was pretty good. All in all. I will definitely be making my way back and you should try it out as well read more

Came for a congratulatory dinner and originally had a party of 8 but we ended up with only 6 and they accommodated us beautifully. The restaurant itself is nice looking. I ordered the filet with shrimp add on and it was cooked perfectly. However, It need a little more seasoning. It was a tad bland. On the other hand, the shrimp was overly salted. The scampi sauce was fine but the shrimp were very salty, k couldn't even eat it. My husband had the NY strip with stuff shrimp and it was ok. He said he would order the filet next time but it was still decent. The only reason he ordered the NY Strip is because the filet was too small. My mom had the stuffed shrimp and she said it was good. We had crab dip for an appetizer and again it was pretty average. The savior was our waitress, I forgot her name but she was soo sweet and accommodating. She was an African American young lady. Party of 8 for my mom's birthday! Server was so nice, but they lack communication and attentiveness. It seems as if they are extremely understaffed for such a high volume restaurant. Majority of the food we got was so tasty it just sucks we waited almost an hr for the first round of drinks. So annoyed we just ended up ordering for the next round once we got our first. Me personally ended up not getting anything for entrees because my sister ordered the last order of prime rib. I was so disappointed because I tasted hers and it was so good. Because the server felt bad he told me to have free range of the salad bar. I was honestly happy about that, but when i got up there. The salad bar was pretty much empty. After getting back to my seat I tried to flag anyone down for silverware and everyone pretended not to see my hands or me saying "excuse me." I tried to even get the attention of one of the managers and no one stopped by to table touch or apologize for things being missing off the entrees or things taking too long. If the table was handled properly we could have been in and out within an hr and a half. Instead we ended up being there for almost 3 hrs. Insanity. Our bill was almost $2500 so it should have been suberb... it's time to revamp staff members and managers. We go to chain restaurants with lower price tags and get treated like royalty... we wanted to try more upscale for my mother's birthday... make the taste of the food match the service for the prices on the menu. read more

What a gorgeous restaurant!! Perfectly situated on the water's edge overlooking the Potomac River, I throughly enjoyed dining at Chart House. This was one of the first times in a while that dining at an upscale restaurant, I was just as excited with the drinks and food menus!!! Because I was spoiled for choice and there is only so much one can order in one sitting re: food and drinks - I am already plotting my next visit! Particularly so that I can order drinks off of their table side drink experience!! The coconut crispy shrimp and NY strip with mac'n cheese were tip top!! The creamed spinach was also *chefs kiss* !! She actually told us that "she wasn't sure what she was walking into" when she was requested to come to our table. We called the manager over after we were given the wrong bill. While we really didn't have issues with the food, the service, or lack of service therof was disturbing. The patron should never have to fill their own water glasses.... multiple times. Erin, the acting manager was rude and confrontational - 100% unapologetic. Her justification was that normal service for a couple of two takes around 1.5 hours, so 2 hours was just fine. I also emailed the GM. I have not received a response after nearly a week. Please save yourself time and effort (especially with Mothers Day coming soon). We ate at the Chart House for Thanksgiving with a group of nine. When making reservations very early, we were told they couldn't make reservations for a party of that size, but when we arrived and ate, there were at least two tables arranged for parties around the same size...one of which went empty all night. We, instead had to make two separate reservations for four and five people respectively. They told us they couldn't seat us near each other or even on the same floor. We had requested at least the larger table be on the first floor because we had one family member in a wheelchair. Once we arrived and checked in early for both reservations, they were running about 45 minutes late. They ended up saying they only had a four person table on the first floor for us to accommodate the wheelchair, so we arranged our group to accommodate while we waited further for a table for the rest of our party. Even after this conversation, they later said they couldn't find the rest of our party for the second reservation, though we hadn't moved, and cancelled it. After interceding at the hostess stand, we were eventually seated across the same dining area from each other which was OK. It turns out though that there were a number of four and five seat tables that went infilled during the evening (about three hours). The food was good and the wait staff was attentive , but it appeared there was not enough wait staff and they were harried. I had the seafood lingui, which was tasty, but the three shelled clams included had not opened and were not able to be eaten. I asked the waiter if I could trade them for some open ones, and he needed to refer it to a manager. No manager showed up, even after the waiter kept checking on it, until I was done eating my meal. They did not offer any real apology or mitigation for this sizable portion of a costly seafood meal. While the food is worthwhile here, the experience was very substandard for what should have been an upscale restaurant. I would not recommend it to anyone for this reason alone, and most definitely not worth the price. read more

I highly recommend requesting a window seat with your reservations especially if it's your first time. The menu has several options without being overwhelming. Lastly if you're a chocolate person, be sure to get the chocolate lava cake - it's that good!!! But be sure to tell them with some notice as it takes 30 min to cook. Wife and I arrive just before noon and decided to eat before touring King Street. We shared an appetizer of shrimp, mango and avacado. Very tasteless. Wife got blackened chicken salad, Very little dressing ,chicken tough, small portion. (her opinion) I ordered the Wasabi encrusted Ahi which I expected to be grilled or pan seared, WRONG. Ahi was 5 thin raw strips encrusted on one side. Same thing very little dressing on very small portion of greens.Disappointing for over $70. I ordered a drink they had run out of the ingredients for it and when I asked what he'd recommend for something similar he was like "no one ever orders that so I don't know," which seemed dubious as they'd run out of the ingredients. My mom's fish was super undercooked and was pink inside when it came out. Other items came out cold. They have a course meal which many of my party got. I opted for the stuffed shrimp! It was really yummy but I didn't like the side that came with it. We went to chart house for Father's Day. Because it's been a while since we've been there and I knew my mom would appreciate this. Our waitress and seating were great and the main food was excellent (as usual). BUT the cheesecake was subpar and room temperature which leads me to believe I got sick from eating this. I could've gotten better cheesecake at the cheesecake factory and paid less. I don't expect to pay chart house prices and get sick from the meal. read more
