    Seafood linguini
    Jocelyn D.

It's been 6 years since we dined at Chart House. We had a late lunch Saturday, March 14, 2026 & to our surprise the quality freshness of both the seafood & steak was outstanding‼. Definitely recommend Chart House. I intentionally gave 4 stars bc when we entered there was no line yet the 3 employees behind the host area desk were busy having a conversation & didn't stop until my husband asked if we could have a table for two. Also there was a male young Caucasian server that didn't speak in a mild voice, rather more like a blow horn that waited on a table next to us (thankfully our server was not like that).

We went here to celebrate my son's and DIL's birthdays and we were all glad we did. My son made a great choice. He enjoyed the prime rib once again, I loved the shrimp linguini, my husband enjoyed his crab stuffed sole, and my DIL loved her seafood bouillabaisse. Our appetizers were tasty, too - hummus and the crispy, spicy tuna. The atmosphere is very relaxing and located at a great spot along the water. Such a nice touch - the added birthday boy's name on the menu. Too cute! In the area? Check Them Out! PS The Sangria was tasty and the beer was nice and cold. The bread basket made everyone happy, too! LoL

The team at the restaurant was amazing. Our server was so attentive and the team gave us special birthday menus. As much as I wanted to love the food, it just wasn't the best. But love the views of the restaurant right next to the waterfront!

I came across thos place while being a tourist in Alexandria. The restaurant is huge and beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was just okay and so were the drinks. I did recommend this place to my husband who took 5 clients out that might and they all loved it!

I haven't been to Chart House in years until just a few days ago for lunch. The restaurant ambiance was calm and inviting. Our server, Elle, was friendly and accommodating. I ordered the shrimp tacos which were good, but could have used a little more shrimp and possibly a salsa. The sweet potato fries were freshly cut and fried to perfection with a hint of salt. I would order my meal again. Others I had lunch with indicated their meals were good as well, especially the crab cake sandwich, clam chowder and fish and chips. The weather was nice so there was a great view to enjoy and socialize by. If you're in Olde Town check them out.

We had a reservation for 2:15 on a Friday and were seated right away but it wasn't very busy. We got the ceviche and the beet chips were awesome with it. Light, crisp with a good flavor that paired well with it. I do wish there was more quantity with this dish. My entree was salmon. It was really good and the orzo was flavorful. We had a nice water view at our table by the window. Our server was Bob and he was great.

It is my birthday and we made our reservation a month in advance because it is Valentine's Day as well. Got here 10 minutes before the time and check in and there was a wait. The restaurant is old and in need of an upgrade. There was no ambience. The salmon was just ok, the table next to us returned her meal twice. I gave my waiter my knife because it was dirty and he never brought a clean one back. I had to asked the server who delivered the salmon for a knife. This was a first and last visit for me. Nothing to write home about.

This place has a wonderful selection of seafood and a nice view of the harbor. I had the black miso cod and the fish & veggies tasted very fresh. Also enjoyed the sauce that was given to pour over it. The one thing it could have used was a touch of course salt for finishing. Our server Cameron was super friendly and personable. The restaurant has a very classic look akin to fine dining waterfront restaurants. Very enjoyable experience.

    Steak i spit out

The only good thing was the location. Sunday brunch. Not crowded at all, which was a surprise at first. But after the food and service I know why. Terrible service. Had to ask for the wine we ordered. Very very slow. Steak was about half not edible. Tough and stringy. Spit out multiple bites. See picture. Nice location. Maybe I got there on a bad day. But I don't think so. Server said she would tell manager about steak. Nothing. No one did anything. Which is what I expected.

I went here for brunch today. The menu selections are uninspired and much too expensive. The restaurant and the location are both gorgeous. And the service from Caleb was exceptional. He was very kind and attentive and professional and helpful and patient. He did an outstanding job. But the food was terrible. This prime rib hash dish seemed like it was made up of leftover items that were in the kitchen this morning. And it cost 27 dollars!! It was made of the same type of meat that is used in cheesesteaks. But less meat. They should be ashamed of themselves. And the cheddar waffles were dry and flavorless and not good at all. The only item that was passable was the calamari. But that was cold. The flavor was great and the sauce in the top was good. But it was cold. They need to do better.

While in the area for my friend's son's graduation from the Naval Academy over Memorial Weekend, we met up with one of my cousins in the area for brunch/lunch after we went to Arlington Cemetery. The weather was beautiful. They didn't have outside seating available but were able to fairly quickly seat us inside with a window view of the water. We enjoyed the food and the view. Service was quick and helpful. There were many good choices on the menu and I'm glad we tried the crab items in addition to shrimp & grits and chicken & waffles.

I am incredibly shocked to see this place only has 3.5 stars. I did not check Yelp before coming here, which I usually do, and I usually only pick restaurants with 4+ stars due to experience. I am glad this was a fluke because this places deserves FIVE STARS. Everything was fabulous. Our waitress Caroline was very sweet, attentive, and helpful. We brought our small kid and he got a birthday Sunday at the end with a candle. The hostess was wonderful and allowed us to sit at a table next to the window over the water. The inside was very elegant with a low ambiance. Low lights and clothed tables. The bar was fabulous and had amazing cocktail options. The menu, in my opinion, was not overpriced. The prices were fair for seafood and the experience and worth every dime. They had a great selection for the kids menu. We ordered the Mac and cheese with the broccolini, which was a nice size! I ordered the shellfish dish with scallops, shrimp, and mussels. It typically comes as a boil with bread, but our waitress recommended adding pasta, which was a fantastic choice! The sauce was amazing and light. It was very light but flavorful. The seafood was cooked excellent. You also get starter bread, which was delicious. The crackers and pumpernickel bread were a fan favorite. The butter was fluffy and the bread added perfectly to my dish. I also ordered a small side of the asparagus, which came with a decent portion and was cooked with melted butter and bread crumbs. My boyfriend had the meal with a clam chowder (could choose salad), the prime rib with mashed potatoes, and a lava cake. The clam chowder was excellent. Not fishy and very creamy. All the potatoes, veggies, and clam were small sizes not large chunks. It was amazing. The lava cake was PHENOMENAL. By far one of my favorite desserts. I would order this as a stand alone it was so good. It was perfectly molten with chocolate sauce and nuts on top. It had a crust with a gooey inside. Truly a fantastic experience and would come back!

This place was great! Service was okay, but I get it they were busy, so I didn't take any stars off. Food was on point! Like usual. Noise level was a bit loud but not to the point where you couldn't have a conversation with your meal guest. Overall will come back and I recommend you come too!

The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was amazing, and we had such a great time from beginning to end. Our waiter, Ibrahim, was phenomenal. He took exceptional care of our table, was professional, attentive, and truly elevated the entire dining experience. He walked us through all of the specials -- from the Chilean sea bass to the espresso-rubbed filet mignon -- and everything sounded so good that we ended up trying a little bit of everything. And let me tell you... every single dish delivered. For appetizers we had the Rockefeller oysters, whiskey shrimp and kale Caesar salads. For entrees, I personally had the red snapper entree and the scallop entree, and I also ordered the ribeye for the table. Other dishes included the espresso filet, a Mediterranean branzino along with another entrée featuring crab cake, shrimp, and salmon. Everything was flavorful, perfectly prepared, and beautifully presented. Everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meals. One of the highlights of the evening was when Ibrahim smoked our drinks tableside for us. It added such a fun and memorable touch to an already special night. He also took the time to explain the history behind the restaurant, and it was such an informative and meaningful story. Learning about the history made the experience feel even more special and gave us an even greater appreciation for dining there. Overall, it was an outstanding birthday dinner and an experience I will absolutely remember. I will definitely be returning, and if you're looking for a beautiful restaurant with amazing food, wonderful service, and a memorable atmosphere, I highly recommend checking them out. Go hungry, enjoy yourself, and have fun -- you won't be disappointed.

We also had a reservation but were initially told they couldn't find it without much effort to check. The wait times were extremely long about 30 minutes for our appetizer and an hour for our entrées. After waiting that long, 2 out of 3 of us had to send our food back because it was undercooked. That said, our waiter Reuben was very kind and did what he could to turn things around. He comped some items and brought out bread pudding, which ended up being the best thing we had. The ambience in the bar area was decent, with nice smaller tables and good music, but it was so loud we could barely hear each other. Food overall was hit or miss. The calamari was just okay, but the breading was falling off and the sauce was runny. The clam chowder was actually pretty good, according to my friends. Unfortunately, the entrées were the biggest letdown; one steak came out rare instead of medium well, and my salmon looked slimy and unappetizing. Overall, between the long wait times and disappointing entrées, I wouldn't return. I do appreciate our waiter Reuben though for trying to improve the experience, so shout out to him!

It was another staff member who actually provided a majority of the service - she brought us warm bread, delivered our food, and refilled our drinks multiple times. When it came time to pay, I paid in cash using a larger bill. The server assumed I was giving a large tip and was about to walk away with no intention of giving me my change. I made no comment of "keep the change" I then had to awkwardly ask for my change back so I could leave a tip separately. He proceeded to ask how much change I wanted, putting me on the spot and feeling pressured to leave a large tip (mind you, I was going to already leave a tip). Because of this, I ended up leaving a much larger tip (over 50%) than I had intended, especially considering the level of service he provided us. I understand that I could have been more firm about asking for all my change back, but guests should never feel pressured or uncomfortable when paying. Overall, the service experience with our waiter overshadowed what could have been an otherwise enjoyable visit.

And who doesn't love a good warm bun with butter? The entrees were really beautifully plated and delicious too. The catfish was our favorite with a delicious broth, poured table-side. I've never had a bison steak before - but this one was perfectly cooked with cippolini onions, chimichurri and sweet potatoes. The plating on everything was absolutely gorgeous. And for dessert - a spongy apple cider cake and creamy chocolate cremeux. I don't even like apples, but this cake was amazing. It had beautiful accompaniments as well. And the chocolate cremeux was served with beautifully poached pears and cranberries. We loved both. Our waiter kept our water glasses full, knew all the details about the menu and was so pleasant and prompt. Absolutely love it here!!!

I was unhappily surprised at the experience at Vermillion during restaurant week. I brought my…read morehusband here on his birthday because we had an amazing experience two years ago with a thoughtful menu, delicious bites and cocktails that were well explained. It seemed like the server was very busy tonight (which I understand because it's restaurant week) but we got no explanation of anything on the menu, getting a drink order took about 15 minutes for my husband, and worst of all when I ordered the wine pairing none of the wines came out before or with the courses and nothing was explained at all about what I was drinking. Not even a quick, this is a Cabernet Sauvignon. I was shocked! How do you have a wine pairing where you just fling down a glass of wine and run away? So I had a little blind taste testing with no answers. The food didn't even compare to the last time we came. Everything was fine, but nothing I would return for. We had the beet salad, the acorn squash salad, the short ribs, the bison steak, and some sort of chocolate dessert with pears in it. I had explained some food allergies and although the final receipt had those allergies marked, the dessert came out covered with one of my allergens and I had to notice, chase them down to tell them then wait and get it replaced, which they were very nice about but made me concerned that everything else I've been eating might've not have been safe. Again, last time I was here I felt completely fine afterwards and they were very on top of avoiding cross contamination for my celiac disease. Ultimately, I wouldn't come back here -- I was so disappointed at the experience when I really wanted a special night for my husband's birthday. I was shocked that this was recently named one of the top 50 restaurants in NOVA and had so many positive recent reviews. What am I missing? Majestic café, Josephine, Thompson's Italian are all tastier options a short walk away.

We missed the recent banned speakeasy but heard it was great. My foodie bestie and I finally made…read moreour way here a few weeks ago. We've had this place on our list for quite some time. They're located inside the Morrison House. Seems like a nice place to stay. I'll be adding that to my list. We enjoyed our experience. We had an early reservation. Finding nearby parking wasn't an issue. This place is cozy and cute for a date night or night out with friends. It's not big enough for a large group. We enjoyed the live pianist. Wondering about the attire? I would suggest smart casual, business casual at a minimum. You can put on a fancy dress if you'd like too! The drinks and food were amazing! I loved the kalabi Toscana and the bistec entree (chef's choice and that day was waygu). It was soooo good! I was greedy and wanted more. I just have to visit again. Service overall was top notch! Kudos to our main server, Rodney. He was amazing! Thank you!

When we arrived, there was a piano player in the bar area, which added charm without being too loud. The service was fast and helpful. The food was delicious, my favorite dish was the octopus, though I also really enjoyed the steak. The pork belly was another standout, full of flavor. They also offer an innovative cocktail menu. Overall, a charming spot that balances sophistication with comfort. I'd recommend it for a date night or ladies night.
