I have been here several times and each time I really enjoy the food. Their level of spice is up to MY standards. Normal white people cannot handle their extra spicy so only try if you know that you can handle it. If you think jalapenos are spicy, go home and cry because that is pathetic!! The Ka Pow is my favorite with minced chicken. Their lunch special is also a really good deal. Quite the gem in an off beat location. Their Thai Iced Tea is really good, not super sweet and a good tea flavor. It can get a little loud because of the spartan decor, but they deliver so its a non-issue. read more

Absolute favorite thai restaurant in DC/MD/VA area. THe lunch dine in special is unbeatable. You get drink, app and meal for $10. The staff is always more than nice and efficient. The drunken Noodle is by far my most ordered dish (I've been at least 20x over course of 4+ years). This is the restaurant me and my friends come every time we come to see a movie in downtown. It's a small restaurant located around Downtown Silver Spring. Definitely one of the better Thai restaurants in the area. Service is always great. Waitresses are very friendly and greet you with a big smile. It's not too crowded so it gives you a nice space to chat with your friends. The food is pretty good. This time we got the Charm Thai wings, drunken noodle, chicken pineapple, thai fried rice, and bird on nest. The drunken noodle was really good but also very spicy. Definitely had to gulp down a cup of water to finish it ...but it was worth it! Thai fried rice is good as well. I think the difference between Thai fried rice and Chinese fried rice is that Thai fried rice has a stronger taste and more sticky (which I prefer). Bird on nest was one of the special dishes they offered that day. It's basically chicken surrounded by steamed broccoli with fried basil on top. It was average, nothing much to critic about. I personally didn't like the chicken pineapple..I wasn't a fan of the sweetness it has and thought it was a little bland on other flavors. For dessert we got the Thai ice cream (seasonal for about 4$) and mango sticky rice. The ice cream didn't really taste like ice cream. Wasn't creamy at all and had about 5 tiny scoop. I didn't really like it at all... Felt like they just froze some Thai tea. The sticky rice was good (but then again it's really hard to mess up sticky rice). The portion was a lot smaller than what I had in mind. I'd say it makes a good dessert for 2. Nice place to stop by if you're in downtown. Bon appetit! read more

The delivery is prompt, like 20 minutes instead of predicted 45-60 minutes. The food is very good, and had the delivery taken longer, the food still would have been worth the wait! I had vegetables with chicken. My wife had green curry tofu! The rice was perfect. We both ate our entire order, even though our custom is to eat half and save the rest for lunch, haha. I like this place, seriously I went there twice one week... and technically had food from them three times in a week cause we got carry out at work. The restaurant is small but perfect for a small party or lunch pop by. The style is mod Bangkok. The staff is nice. I've probably been there and had carry out over half a dozen times over the last 2-3 months and they have always been attentive. FOOD: They have the BEST crispy duck EVEREH!! ERh... Honest engine. The panang chicken is most delectable. Plus they have a great happy hour $2 BEERS. The lunch menu is pretty good a little pricey but good, you get a drink (soda (refills), thai coffee or thai tea - no refils), plus soup AND entree for $11-13 (depending on the choice of meat or veggies) I really like Charm Thai and hope it's a fixture in Silver Spring for a long time! This is by far my absolute favorite Thai place in the area, seriously. The only thing holding me back from giving them 5 stars is I'm out of their delivery range by less than half a mile...so close!! By far my favorite dish is drunken noodles. I could easily eat it every. single. day. Their spring rolls are also on point. I've been to Charm Thai numerous times for take out and dine in and service has always been great. A couple times when I've called in I've had to wait on hold for a bit before they'd take my order, but that's really the only thing. Sit down service is always fast and the staff is always friendly. There's parking in the back...though I'm not sure now if it's for customers, they recently hung up signs that say "For Employees"..if my husband and I are getting take out, we park there to pick it up. Otherwise there's a public parking garage a block away. I will keep my fingers crossed for them to extend their delivery range! read more

I used to love it. I always got Pad Thai with Tofu and it was perfect. However, I ordered it for delivery this evening and it seems the recipe changed. Why would you add spices to that dish? There is a reason I get Pad Thai instead of everything else that is supposed to be spicy. I half expected my jasmine rice to be spiced as well. There is absolutely nothing on my receipt or on the menu itself that suggests it is supposed to burn my mouth. I should have read my review before ordering from this place again. It's basically "OK". I reordered the taro custard which I previously said was "pretty good!" - this time, it was just OK. I also ordered a new item "chicken, spinach, and cheese wontons". It was flavorless and lacked chicken...and cheese! I also ordered the laarb and mango chicken. I ordered their food using UBEREATS. I paid for shrimps for both entrees for my husband and I. We got FOUR shrimp each. We just looked at each other in disbelief. This was a complete joke. I ordered shrimp fried rice and pad Thai. Shrimp fried rice were basically fried shrimp rice with barely any vegetables, let alone shrimps. Same with pad Thai. Just noodles. I should have just ordered Chinese and save money on that. I will never order from this restaurant ever again. Money down the drain. Also, I asked for chopsticks and received no chopsticks. Hidden Gem. I was a little worried about this place because of the reviews and the coupons I would see. But this place is amazing. It is a cute small restaurant in downtown Silver Spring. It's very cozy and great for a date night or a small family dinner. The prices are reasonable, especially for lunch. The food is amazing, great texture and seasoning. I got the chef special, crispy salmon. It was perfectly fried and a light spicy sauce with veggies and rice. For an app, I got the special crispy fish salad, which was a great fusion of spices and veggies. There is not alot of fish in the salad, it is more like crispy pieces of fried skin. The pad Thai was genuinely some of the best pad Thai I've ever had and I've had a lot of different places. They know how to season. GOT DAYUM this place is good! Seriously, I am a lover of Thai cuisine and dined around at different DC area Thai restaurants until I found this place. I have eaten here a dozen times and it has never disappointed. It is my go-to place for delicious, flavorful Thai food. Everything I have ordered exceeds my expectations. My favorites are the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) with beef and the Panang Curry with chicken. They also have Thai Tea Lemonade which tastes JUST like lemon and li hing mui ( one of my favorite treats when I lived in Hawaii). As a Thai food connoisseur (check my other reviews) this was the very first restaurant I ate at in the DMV area. My mom and sister were with me; they love thai food as much as I do. And we rave about this place. Every time my mom comes to visit that's where she wants to eat. I even had my mom bring me some food from here when I was staying in the hospital. This is my first time at this restaurant. It's a small storefront right on Georgia Avenue. Based on their Yelp ratings, I was looking forward to the meal. They did not disappoint! I came during peak lunch hours and it was almost full and lots of activity. I was seated right away towards the back almost right across from the kitchen door. At first I was not excited about siting there, but I understand it's a small place and this hallway was the only spot with small tables for one or two patrons. I was actually seated across from the wall that has two maps, one of the US and another World map, a seat for take out customers and a nice plant. The waiter who had also seated me was very efficient and serviceable. He brought me the lunch menu. I was torn between drunken noodles and my staple Pad Thai but went with the latter with vegetables, tofu, egg and basil which was extra (the waiter advised me and I was ok with that). I upgraded to the lunch special including egg rolls and drink (iced Thai coffee ) for an additional $3.... well worth it. The meal was prepared fresh and it came out in excellent timing. The Thai Coffee was a little stronger than I've had before but very good. The egg rolls (2) were cooked just right , and the Pad Thai was right on point.... wish I would have taken a pic but I was so hungry I just went right to it. It was a perfect portion, looked appetizing and had the correct amount of each ingredient. Tasted very authentic. By the way, the cooks and kitchen are in pretty plain view and it caught my attention that they were all women that I could see. They have a very efficient take out service . I could see all the activity of the patrons coming and going. And again, very friendly service. My waiter was amazing. We chatted about his trip to Africa and my trip to Cuba... what a pleasant chat. My meal was a total of $13.25 , $8.50 for the Pad Thai, $3.00 for the drink and appetizer and an extra $1 for the basil. I think it's a bargain!! I highly recommend this place for lunch!! I wish words could describe entirely why I love this place so much. Not only does it provide a wide variety of Thai dishes that have exquisite flavors, but what's more is that I have yet to find a dish that has let me down. The Pad Thai, Pad Ka Pow, and Drunken Noodles are a must if you enjoy these classic dishes but with a focus on freshness, and burst of flavor. The green curry also has a wonderful balance between spices and coconut. Any dish with the tofu is phenomenal, as the tofu is fried I believe, so it had a nice golden exterior but cooked in a way where it's soft/fluffy like clouds. Unfortunately I've relocated out of the area, but anytime I visit - I always make sure to visit Charm Thai. read more

I came here to order pad thai with chicken to go. Flavor wise, I thought it was on point. The noodles were the same compared to others. They had a good balance of the remaining ingredients. I will come back and try something else and to truly get the experience of the restaurant. Until then, I would say this place is a 3.5 to 4 stars. This, is, the, best, Thai food, in, DC. I swear on... well I don't have anything valuable to swear on but if I did, I would swear on it. We eat here on AVERAGE twice a week and that's only because we can't afford it more often. I've been known to eat Charm three days in a row. If I ever move out of the area one of my biggest, sorest regrets will be losing Charm Thai (I'm dramatic, yes). As for practical advice - I've had every vegetarian item on the menu except maybe one or two and my favorites are: spicy eggplant, pad see ew, pad thai, and their red curry. read more

They are a few blocks away from me, and time and time again, when I'm getting home late from work (almost every day), I put in an order with Charm Thai as I take the exit, and it's ready by the time I park. I've also dined in at the restaurant on rare occassions, and the food is even better when it's served piping hot to you. 3.75 stars. Charm Thai is solid, standard Thai food for a metropolitan area. While the restaurant itself lacks any real sense of atmosphere, if you focus simply on the cuisine, you will probably be satisfied. The "salmon crispy" with garlic sauce is considered one of their specialty dishes, and I was impressed with how a dollop of the garlic glaze gave instant flavor to an otherwise bland breaded salmon. I usually order crispy salmon with panang (to take advantage of the brilliant flavor combination of coconut, peanut, and salmon), but the garlic version (and frankly, the more common preparation) at Charm Thai might sway me to move away from my general coconut milk heavy dipping sauce for this fried dish. Overall, this was an enjoyable entree. We complemented the order with a Thai eggplant and shrimp dish. This dish could have been spicier, and it was like a never ending treasure hunt trying to find the shrimp. We also ordered tofu green curry. The base curry was well executed and the tofu managed to hold in tiny buckets of the flavorful base without suffering too many textural issues. While the preparation here wasn't as complex as those I have seen at the top Thai restaurants in DC, it certainly was better than average. Charm Thai probably best compares to Sanphan in Capitol Hill. It is basically a solid neighborhood Thai restaurant that is great for delivery. love coming here for lunch. the dishes are a pretty decent sized and you can order a small appetizer - eggroll or tom yum soup and a drink (can order the famous thai iced tea) for about $12. you can have your pick of a meal and choose your meat, seafood, or veggies. i have ordered green curry chicken (comes with rice, eggplant, bell pepper, bamboo shoot, basil) or panang with chicken (yumm.. with that savory peanut sauce with coconut milk and lime leaves). none of the sauces taste super heavy. this place is pretty small though and during lunch time during the week day (depending on what time you go) gets pretty crowded. i'd def recommend this place to try around the silver spring area! read more

I've been here a couple times and I will keep coming back. It's cheaper than my other fav, Thai at Silver Spring. I usually find metered parking nearby, but if I can't find street parking the Wayne Ave garage is close enough as is the Metro garage. The food is great, I've had a variety of items on my trips here. Heads up, the pad thai does run a little sweet, and the spicy crispy duck is pretty fatty but actually spicy and totally delicious. The service has always been good. I studied here for two hours once and no one ever bugged me about vacating my seat. They didn't keep interrupting me asking if I needed something either. The ambiance is pretty utilitarian. No frills, open-ish kitchen, cafeteria style seating (chairs and benches with movable tables). Not somewhere for a nice, quiet evening or romantic date. All in all, this has become my new place for thai in Silver Spring. read more

Loved it! It loses one star because it's not the best Thai I've ever had (just being picky), but it was really good! I got the pad see ew. I'd never had shrimp with Thai noodles, but the combo was really good. Kind of wish there was a little more shrimp though. My friends had tofu with their noodles, and they weren't a huge fan, so I wouldn't recommend that if you don't eat meat (maybe try the veggies or seafood, if you eat that). Charm Thai is a new addition to the restaurant row on Georgia Ave. My husband and I stopped by on their first Saturday night for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. The interior of the restaurant is small but clean and modern. You can tell it was just renovated so 5 stars on the appearance. The menu has the typical Thai favorites along with a few specialties we had never seen before. We started with their chicken satay which was one of the best I've ever had. The chicken was marinated in a yellow curry and cooked perfectly- still juicy and not overdone. The peanut sauce was amazing. For entrees, I had the pad thai with tofu and my husband the crispy duck. The crispy duck was a beautiful plate of spicy, crunchy deep fried slices of duck topped with fried basil. He was in heaven. I tried the pad thai with tofu. It was a very generous portion with lots of cripsy tofu and sprouts. I found the sauce to be a bit sweet for my taste and was hoping for some Sriarcha which was missing from the table. It really needed some hot sauce but I wasn't offered any. I wish I would have asked because on my way to the restroom I saw little condiment trays with all types of sauces! So definitely ask. We thought the food was wonderful and no dish was over $13. I think the service just needs to work out a few kinks. The waiters were very nice and helpful but they seemed a little overwhelmed.
