We had both toilets replaced because they were around 40 years old and just wouldn't flush anymore. I had them put a bidet on one of the toilets and it's still working fine. Michael then fixed one of our shower heads as it was leaking all over the place. This shower is still working good. Next we wanted to replace our bath/shower which had rusted and could not be fixed. Michael ordered the parts and after waiting a couple weeks or so he and his assistant Gilbert working as a team took out the old tub/shower and put a brand new shower in which took about 4 days to do. This shower looks brand new and we are very satisfied with all the work Michael and Gilbert did. I'm not sure what other plumbers charge but we got great service for our dollar. It wasn't cheap but I feel it was a fair price. We didn't have any problems except one thing that was easily fixed with Michael coming over for less than an hour to adjust. I would recommend Michael and Gilbert they make a great team and they are professional. They lay canvas on the flooring and when they are done they take away all debris. They took both toilets and bath/shower away. read more

Charlie's Plumbing sent their team to fix a major plumbing issue. A third bathroom had been "off stream" for years, due to a flood in the area. To get it up and running again required finding the best way to get the water from one side of the laundry room to the other, when it was on a solid concrete slab! The guys presented 3 possible ways, and then recommended the one that would be least expensive and best solve the problem. Despite an Evacuation Order for the area, they kept focused on getting the 3rd bathroom up and running again! It was professionally done and worked great! read more

Right on! So I'm standing in front of my now running wall heater, typing out this review in warmth. Made the call after trying all the usual stuff people do when there heaters don't turn on. Cari, the nice lady on the other end of the line was very helpful and got a hold of Drew who was still in the neighborhood. We got a knock on the door in about 30 minutes, sweet. Drew, the technician was clean and personable, had a good handshake. Got right to work, explaining as he tested a few things and got it all working in about 35 minutes or so. He cleaned it all up and wrote the tag. That's what I wanted and needed, not a load of CRAP about things. I don't give a lot of 5 star reviews for that reason. I have had this company do 2 jobs that were dis assembled by me and I saw that it was beyond my skill set. They never gave me the stink eye about it, the just came in, did the job and were courteous and professional. Michael is very personable and he does a great job. I am having them come back to complete repairs and install a large shower where the master bathtub was. They are also removing a dishwasher I don't use and a garbage disposal that keeps throwing the breaker. I can't wait til it's all done! I'll post pictures when it is. read more

Big overcharge. I guess Charlie is no longer doing the work, he was great. But the new person bought a helper along. The helper was really a gofer, getting parts or tools for Michael (who states he will get his license in two weeks). The was a one person job, installing a R/O system under the sink, fixing a toilet flapper and fixing the attachment to the Ice maker in the frig. He billed $105 an hour for himself and $75 AN HOUR FOR THE HELPER, A TOTAL OF $180 PER HOUR. He took 3 hours, which included driving time. read more

I was very impressed at the quality of Charlie's work. An unparalleled smell was emitting from my kitchen, or so I assumed. After a few hours, knowing that it was something more than just my eclectic cooking, I called PG&E's emergency line. Less than 15 minutes later my 70-year-old wall heater was shut off for ozing out CO2. "No Problem!" I thought. We were experiencing unseasonably warm weather at the time. I can live without heat. Great local family service. Spot on. Condo was empty for about 3 years. Heater was original and more than 30 years old. Family folks snowed up, tried to figure out if it was possible to update it. The young man who came to my house to repair my wall heater thought he had fixed the problem, but he didn't. That evening my heater shut down automatically. Then I had call the company and said that my wall heater still was not working, the company said that someone would come out and check out the problem, they never did. First, the plumber who came out to my unit, Michael, did a great job. If I could rate only him I would give the man 5 stars. As a matter of fact he is the reason this company deserves any star. Second, whoever worked in the office when I called to ask when the plumber would arrive needs to learn customer service skills and they are the reason I am giving this review. I was told the plumber would arrive between 2-4 pm; I confirmed it the day before and the day of the appointment. I had to leave work early (I get paid hourly=not being paid to go home) so I could meet Michael. Around 3:40, I called Charlies and asked when the plumber would be arriving and the man who picked up said between 4-6. When I said the appointment was for 2-4 he tried argue that it was for 4-6. I told him I confirmed it with the lady who made the appointment and I also tried to mention that I had to leave work early; his reply was, insincerely, "Well mistakes happen, sorry, we are all human you know." That comment shows the integrity of your company. The man obviously didn't want to hear me so I just said thank you and hung up the phone. I work in the customer service profession and I have heard that saying more than I would like. If that is all you can tell a customer, who is making an effort to adjust his workload to meet yours, then you are not business worth investing in. I am pretty sure if a contractor treated this company like that and then tells them, "well we are human", they would be just as if not more upset than I was. Just in case this company doesn't know, its pretty obvious we are all human and that we all make mistakes. I would not have been upset enough to write this review had they just said "sorry if it was a mistake on our end, we will do what we can to make sure it doesn't happen again." But to get the sarcastic remark like I did is just flat out unprofessional. read more

My 90-year old parents live in Salinas and had this company come out when their furnace stopped during a cold spell. SInce I live a number of hours away, I couldn't come and fix it, or wait for any parts. This company came, and replaced the first most expensive thing, the gas valve. After a week, the furnace failed again, and this time, charging their full, very expensive hourly rate, charging much more time than the job should have taken, the next most expensive thing had now failed, the control board, and evidently, also the hot surface ignitor, which was replaced only a few months ago. Hard to figure how all these components all failed at the same time after their tech had been messing with it. Plus, a huge markup on the components of about 3x what anyone can purchase them for anywhere online. So they seem to be the "lets try replacing this most expensive item, see if that works, then if it doesn't we'll try something else" type of technicians, all the time charging you a large hourly rate for a job that shouldn't take that long, and then charging you three times the cost of the part they are seeing will fix the problem. I don't know if there is anything better in Salinas, but know I wouldn't trust them. Since I wasn't there, and don't know what was said, I can't file a fraud complaint with the County, but I just want everyone to be aware, and watch them closely if you use them. read more

These guys overcharged me on time and parts. First it took awhile to get a legible invoice of work detail done. Then trying to get them to answer questions was like pulling teeth! They eventually apologized about a switch on time applied to two items completed. But said I get charged a minimum 1 hour @ $103 per, no matter how long it takes ! 30 whole minutes just to replug a disconnected part back in ?! One entire hour just to replace some easily accessible (under- counter) angle stops and supply lines, @ 200 % Mark-up !! They also did not leave the parts (My Property!) for inspection (got something to hide?!) Woman got a condescending attitude with me and said she will not discuss more, plus I was lucky Charlie the owner was one who did the work or else it would have been more !! After talking with my tenant, turns out Charlie was there with an assistant, who did all the work, while he just stood by reeking of cologne and admiring his big gold watch !! Gee, I wonder how he could afford that ?!? Needless to say I filed a complaint with the BBB. read more
