My AC went out after 3 power surges in a row. Well I own a portable unit so it wasn't an emergency. I contacted a local (less than a mile away) HVAC company and they made an appointment for the next day and said they they would be here between 9 and 11 am. The reason I am sure is because I joked with the receptionist that I wasn't out of bed by 11. So the next day at 11:30 I called to see when they would actually show and only got an answering machine. I left a message asking please call me and let me know. Then at 12:45 I called again and this time got the receptionist. I asked when was the guy coming because you told me he would be here between 9 and 11 and she said she never said that. I has to remind her that I even joked that I wasn't out of bed at 11. Anyway I cancelled appt because I consider customer service to be important. Then a neighbor gave me a number of her ac guy and he told me he would come by that day...but was a no show. Same thing next 2 days. So I finally decided to call Charles Berg Enterprises even though they are over 20 miles away. I called around noon and they said they would have someone over in the afternoon. They also quoted their hourly fee and said it started from when they left the office until they returned to Gainesville city limits. Sonded ok to me. At approx. 3:30 pm a tech drove up He introduced himself as Andy and went to work immediately as I explained to him what happened to the ac system and he started testing stuff and fixed the furnace blower and then went to the compressor and fixed what was wrong with that. Andy was very professional and efficient and also very amiable and easy to talk to. He explained everything that he was doing and it only took about an hour and the ac was purring and blowing cold. Then he went and calculated the charge and wow was I surprised what the cost was. Pleasantly surprised. Charles Berg will be my go to for now on. Signed up for yearly Preventive Maintenance. First time young kid, probably still in school didn't put the casing back on correctly, caused short a couple of months later, called my installation company, the fix cost me 80 dollars plus a tip. Second PM trip, another kid who couldn.t get the unit going again, after an hour he finally got it running after fixing the wiring he messed up. Hate to see what else they screwed up in a month or so. Their TV commercials are pure BS, and after reviewing their "good" reviews online I wonder if these are real. One other thing, they never called to see if I was satisfied with either repair job, only time a service company never called back to see how things went. read more

Unreliable. Vice President visited my home after requesting a quote for installation / replacement of a whole unit. 10 days later I'm yet to get a response. I called and asked the office several times and even left voicemails directly to the one that was out here. He came promptly to the appt. but never heard back from him/ them. I highly recommend using Charles Berg for a new home a/c or service and repair. They have been very professional, friendly, and are honest and reliable. I recently had a bad blower motor on my unit that was installed by my builder in 2011. I had no idea that it would still be under warranty. They could have charged me for a new motor and labor, but informed me that the part was covered under warranty. I paid a fraction of what I anticipated.
