I contacted this company a year ago when my a/c unit died. I saw the LibertyAir sticker and decided to call bc they installed it with the previous owners. It was so hot in my apartment and they were able to assess. I ended up going with them to place a completely new HVAC system cost me 12K. It had an air scrubber that I was not forced but encouraged to get. I was never forced into anything. In fact, the tech that came in asked me questions bc he didn't want me to spend a lot of money on the a/c unit, which I appreciated. I ended up getting the a/c with all the bells and whistles. I was referred to their home loan program that lets you do 18 months with % interest, and that has been a life saver. So, I was actually really disappointed that within a year I had to contact them bc it was leaking and had a clog. They were able to come at night and unclog the pipe. I signed up for their every 6 month check/tune-up. So another couple hundred dollars there... I like the company a lot as they are responsive. I just wish that the tech that came didn't leave a mess on my carpet, but overall good experiences!

However, my complaints with Bounds Heating & Air stem from their business practices, lack of pricing transparency, and poor communication. Earlier this week, just days after my wife and I welcomed our first child, our AC stopped blowing cold air. While the unit was cooling, the blower motor had failed. Since Bounds had installed the system when the home was built in 2013 (their sticker was still on the unit), I assumed they would be well-suited for the repair. I called on Tuesday, and they sent a technician who diagnosed the issue and quoted me $1,420, plus a $90 diagnostic fee, bringing the total to $1,510. While I had seen similar repairs estimated between $800-$1,800, I needed the repair done quickly and didn't have time to shop around, especially with a newborn in the house. Scheduling Issues The technician was scheduled to arrive between 3-5 PM the next day, as we had a doctor's appointment earlier that afternoon. However, I received a text just before 2 PM stating the tech was on the way--meaning no one would be home. When I called the office, they claimed the appointment had been scheduled for 1 PM and that the tech was actually running late. I still had the original voicemail confirming 3-5 PM, but despite the miscommunication, they did send another tech later in the day. The technician arrived around 4 PM and completed the repair in 40 minutes, which I appreciated. However, after researching later that night, I found the blower motor itself typically costs around $500 at retail, and likely less for a contractor. Lack of Pricing Transparency The next morning, I received an invoice--but it was not itemized. There was no breakdown of parts or labor, no part numbers, no taxes, and no indication of whether the parts used were OEM, aftermarket, or remanufactured. I had never seen an invoice so lacking in detail. When I called to request an itemized invoice, I was told that Bounds does not provide itemized invoices and that it was "not standard practice." After pressing the issue, I was eventually contacted by a manager named John, who explained that Bounds uses a third-party national company to determine pricing and that they would not disclose the cost of parts or labor. I expressed that while I understood a markup was involved (as is common in many industries), a business should still be able to break down what the customer is actually paying for. If the motor cost around $500, that would mean I was charged $920/hour for labor, assuming a one-hour minimum. When I pointed this out, John refused to provide any further breakdown and made it clear the owner would not either. Essentially, the response was: "We're not going to tell you what we paid for anything. Tough luck." Final Thoughts I have never encountered a company so unwilling to provide basic pricing transparency, and I will never use Bounds Heating & Air again. I strongly advise others to seek out a business that values clear, upfront pricing and better communication with their customers.

They arrived on time, were all friendly, easy going, and efficient. They worked great together as a team, laughed at all our dumb jokes, answered all our dumb questions and cleaned up after themselves. Their prices were $2-3000 less than the other quotes we got. They came out and quoted and completed the whole job - including cleaning all our ducts - in less than a week. We chose a variable, top of the line unit which was extra and so worth it - we couldn't be happier. The system they installed is literally an A/C dream. It's quiet and efficient and has brought the humidity down to under 50% without our having to lower the temperature to freezing. Even the outside unit is quiet - it just hums sweetly! Our old system blasted out cold air and that's all. It was so noisy we had to turn the TV up when it was on, plus we ricocheted between unpleasantly cold and then increasingly hot and sweaty. We can now adjust the humidity and/or the temperature and the new system maintains both without our having to crank it up to overcompensate. Because the humidity is so much lower we have been able to turn the temperature up. Because this is a smart system it maintains the temperature without veering wildly. We are super comfy day and night at 2-4 degrees warmer than before. We have been told to expect to see some serious savings in our utilities bill. Two words: ETHICAL and HONEST…read more My six year old a/c unit froze up. I thought it was the dirty filter. To play safe I called out my original A/C company, MId Fla Heating and Air. Their tech, Joshua tells me the blower motor is bad. Cost to replace over 2K. After some slick talking he convinces me to drop 9K on a whole new system. Thankfully I got bad vibes and called Babiones. Two techs arrive promptly (within 3 hours). The lead tech, Jeremy says the motor is fine but it was not getting a "call" AKA signal to ramp up. He does some diagnostics and finds a bad thermostat ($260) Big difference in price!! Basically Mid Fla was unethical and dishonest. They did many other unethical things but you read about their tactics in my review about them on Yelp or Google. This is about Babiones and as I said at the outset they are honest and ethical. Sad to think that in the heat of the summer companies like Mid Fla prey on seniors on a fixed income. Hats off to Babiones. I intend to find the biggest megaphone I can and spread the good word.
