The roasted potatoes with peppers and onions

How have I never been here before. I've driven by so many times and never stopped. This is without a doubt, the best butter chicken I've ever had! The naan is delicious. My husband got some roasted potatoes with peppers and onions in it. That's delicious too. I'm just sorry that I didn't take pictures before I dug in. It is not a place to come to for atmosphere, but I like sitting here and being in a very relaxed atmosphere, not pretentious at all.

1/4 Chicken W/2 Sides & Drink - Charga Chicken, Biryani Rice, Masala Fries

Was pleasantly surprised with the large menu of options to choose from. I went with the 1/4 Chicken W/2 Sides & Drink and specifically wanted to try the charga chicken. The meal also came with a drink. I chose the masala fries and biryani rice for my sides. Everything was cooked well and had tons of flavor. Will come back again!

I wouldn't have thought we needed another chicken joint, but then again, it's unfair to call Charga a chicken joint. It's so much more. Let's start with the sides. The variety is truly awesome. You have the standard rice and fruits and potatoes (sorry to call them standard -- the potatoes are really good and the rice is infused with saffron and cilantro), but then there are all the Pakistani-influenced vegetables and legume options! Incredibly flavorful chickpea and lentil and spinach stews, spicy green beans, crisp tomato and cucumber, grilled vegetables... the list goes on and on. And then there's that chicken: there are four varieties to choose from: the specialty here is called Sajji and it's marinated and flame broiled with a mild but Berry flavorful spice mix. It's tender and juicy and the sun is somehow thin and crackling. It's really good. There are other chicken options including a spicy peri peri, a traditional Peruvian pollo a la brass, and Charga, which is a skinless flash-fried specialty. I haven't tried them yet because the sajji is so good. The owners are always there and incredibly friendly. You really want to support a business like this, and thankfully the food and the prices make it a no brainer to continue doing so. The menu goes well beyond rotisserie chicken to a variety of sandwiches, bowls, and wraps. Even burgers I haven't tried it all yet but I have a feeling there are no misses coming out of this kitchen.

Charga 1/4 Combo w/2 Sides

We were looking for a restaurant after visiting Gettysburg and saw Charga on Yelp. We thought we'd give it a try....if you're thinking of going...DO IT! This is the best food we've had in the DC area over the past week. Wow! Get the Charga! So much flavor, it's ridiculous. The plantains and naan were great sides too. Great service, great food!

Went back as promised, this time for carryout, and the food was mostly fantastic again. We loved the butter chicken, chicken tikka kabob, sajji chicken; chick peas, spinach, and rice were all delicious, as well. The peri peri chicken was also very good, but not for the faint of heart as it is covered in their spiciest sauce. Only negative was the masala fries, which were soggy by the time we got our food home, but nicely seasoned. The dipping sauces are also all fantastic. Will definitely be back.

Charga chicken with mixed veg and channa

Had the pleasure of eating here last Saturday, and everything was amazing! I'm happily carnivorous, but the non-meat items were so good that I filled up on those before I even got to the delicious charga 1/4 chicken I'd ordered. Their lentils, chickpeas, and mixed vegetable sides are amazing. Service is so friendly and helpful! Will definitely be back!

Solid rotisserie chicken. White meat moist as it should be. Try the Sajji style chicken, lightly marinated in spices, with lots of flavor.

There's no signage saying it's a halal food ? Nor on the menu

Everything on the menu is 100% certified halal and the owner is very proud to let everyone know that. They recently became the new management so I think they just have not gotten the chance to update everything yet.

Is it Halal?

Yes, it's halal! As soon as we saw the sign, we knew we had to go there 😄

You have a choice of chocolate chip hotcake, blueberry hotcake, pecan waffle or waffle with blueberry toppings. Like my review of its other location, their food was good and reliable. Our server was distracted though. When I ordered my food, he did not say that I had a choice between bacon, sausage, or ham. He said, "It comes with bacon. Is that okay with you?" To other customers who do not know that they have options, they would probably just say yes or no. Since I knew, I had him change it. When it came to payment, we were offering 3 credit cards to divide the check. However, he initially just got one of ours but before he reached the register he realized he only got one of our cards so he went back. He then gave each one's check one at a time with only a pen for everyone. Nevertheless, would still give this spot a 4/5.

About that $23 salad: The portion is a little skeet (that's an STL term - look it up) but the chicken was honestly juicy and flavorful as hell. And, the salad was full of very fresh spinach, and maybe other greens, as well as a good dressing. They provided a healthy amount of shaved Parmesan, which is my favorite. I would definitely order this again if I knew I was going to be around for a while and really wanted a salad. The vibe inside is so cute. It's the kind of reliable spot that anchors the neighborhood, especially since it's one of the few quality joints within walking distance of our front doors. Kellie and the rest of the crew are fantastic. They've mastered that perfect "local hang" energy--they provide great service with a side of "don't give a shit / don't take shit" attitude. It's authentic, unpretentious, and exactly what you want when you're looking to decompress. It only took a quick 10 minutes to receive our entire order, which was 3 burgers, a crispy fried chicken sandwich, loaded fries, and 2 milkshakes! I was very happy with how efficient the service was and the most important part, how delicious every bite was! The smashburgers are made with 100% halal beef and they come out HOT with perfectly crispy edges on the patties and a juicy center. We ordered 3 burgers and each of them stood out in their own way. You can get a single, double, or triple patty burger and add whatever toppings to it too. The jalapeño burger was the star of the show, it had a such a nice and spicy kick to it. I wasn't expecting much but this burger had HEAT! Another favorite was the Juicy Lucy. It was packed with grilled onions and the patty was stuffed with cheddar cheese. A super messy and cheesy option that was definitely worth every bite! I liked that Jon's Joint offered other options too such as loaded fries and fried chicken sandwiches. What I found unique is that for the loaded fries, you can get it with falafel and make it spicy! This time, they had run out of the falafel so I am excited to try it next time.
