Not Texan approved. If you are expecting BBQ, this is not it (unless having BBQ sauce qualifies). It's a roast beef sandwich. Wanna know why it doesn't smell like smoked meat outside? It's because there's no smoked meat inside. The Mac n cheese was ok, the sweet tea was good, the baked beans weren't that good, the fries were soggy even before they put their cheese wiz on top of them. Apparently northerners like this stuff but if you've ever been to the south and had BBQ, save money and go to Arby's instead of here, at least you can get an onion roll and curly fries. read more

This place is every bit as good at the original. It lacks the "shack in front of a strip club" ambiance but makes up for it with a clean comfortable atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating and TV's showing sports. We stopped by on the way to Camden for the Alice Cooper concert. I've never eaten a Chaps anything. I got the well done pit beef with onions only. Best pit beef sandwhich I've ever had. Finally a great pit beef place that you know the quality of. Personally I like mine medium rare pit beef on the traditional potato bun. With raw onions, sweet baby rays bbq sauce and a splash of tiger sauce. Great location with plenty of parking. The staff goes an extra mile to keep guests happy. read more

Finally got a GREAT pit beef/turkey/ham sandwich place!!! The pit beef is delicious, and HUGE. Employees are attentive, friendly and helpful I like that you are greeted and welcomed to the restaurant. Place kept spotless! i appreciate there are TWO separate condiment stations, with fountain soda station in between. We've visited about 6 times since it opened, and there is always an employee cleaning and straightening the area. Even the restroom is spotless! One thing that I found innovative and fantastic is that instead of using your hand to pull the door open to exit, there is a "toe pull" on the base of the door. INGENIOUS!!! The food is really good, but the service needs to develop an eye for detail. I have had carry out orders with mistakes in them more than once. Today I picked up an order. I had ordered 4 items. They had ONE rung up when I got there. I asked about the dessert and it was then added on, but NO SIDES! Come on! The man who answered the phone even repeated the order back to me, but did he write it down anywhere? Who knows. If you carry out, check out the WHOLE order before you leave. Frustrating. read more

Chaps is the most overpriced restaurant. The food is mediocre at best and always burnt. Not only was I charged a dollar for a 2oz side of ranch but they used a poataoe roll for sandwiches from Walmart instead of real burger buns. Never going here again. This is my family's favorite Monday dinner spot. The ribs and large fries are always made to order so they are hot and ready for take out or take over to your table. Went here a couple of weeks ago. Food is pretty good. A bit pricey for the amount of food you get I think. I like the different selections of sauces they had to offer. Meats are good. Fries could use some love same as the mac-n-cheese which was weird as it tasted better the first time we had it. They have 2 registers now so not as long of a wait. The only disappointing and frustrating issue I had was I tried several times to get gift cards and was told every time to come back next week. I've tried for the last 3 weeks. We always stop at the Baltimore location on our way down to Virginia every year, and decided to give this location a try. Very up-scale, definitely a franchise. Same great service and atmosphere, same delicious food. The girl that took our order was also a past chick-Fil-a employee, so she got some extra brownie points from me. Even though they don't have the entire menu that the Baltimore location has, they still have the original roast beef sandwich. Left satisfied and very full! read more

First time . 1 turkey sandwich, 1 Rachel sandwich , 1 large fries, 2 sodas = $26.90??? Fries were very dark, limp, and not tasty , YUK!! Rachel sandwich, corned beef way too salty, no thousand island dressing as promised, just a virtually taste flop. Turkey sandwich, reasonably tasty, but she said the main flavor was SALT. Waste of time, waste of money, don't see them being there as long as Gino's was, and they weren't there long either. On a side note, the person cleaning the dining room asked how was the meal , when we told her how bad it was she kept saying" next time tell them extra crispy fries " What next time? I've eaten at the Baltimore location a bunch of times and was never unhappy with a meal. Here, well, slightly different. I got the Big John which I took home with me. The sandwich was good, no doubt, but it was missing something; that smokey taste. The older location smells like a barbecue as soon as you hit the lot, and that fine odor permeates the restaurant. Yup this place is newer, and maybe it will take a little time for the grills to season. The meat was pretty good, and for the money you get a pretty decent sandwich. It is HURTING me to write this review because of how much I love the original location, but here goes. Is this even the same restaurant!? Did someone take the Chaps name, open up a location, and then LEAVE THE MEAT in Baltimore? We are huge fans and were very excited to learn that a second location was opening up. So my boyfriend picked up two beef sandwiches and brought them home to surprise me. Sadly, the quality of the meat was just not the same. We've been to the original location about ten times and have never been disappointed. However, the meat from the Aberdeen location was chewy, fatty, had sharp burnt edges, and was practically inedible. There were bites where I would chew for what seemed like five minutes before needing to spit it out because it was so chewy and grainy. My boyfriend agreed that his sandwich also was made up of inedible beef. It was such a terrible experience that just the thought of eating pit beef makes my stomach turn. Really good food. The sides are great too. . The only thing i don't like is that they cut all of the meat on the same meat cutters. For people that don't eat pork you can get sick from the pork being on other meats. Just ask the manager to clean one a cutter before you order. That's what they told me to do when I come. read more

The pit beef here is really good and they cook it to your preference. So if you say medium you are truly getting some red and pink in your meat. They don't over cook it like most places. The price isn't to bad either. I enjoy the potato role and if you order fries you get a boatload of fries. The other thing I like is they give you the meat and bread and give you a choice of multiple BBQ sauces to put on with the one and amount of your choosing. read more

This location is not the same as the one on Pulaski. THEY didn't have the same menu and I ate a pulled pork sandwich and within about 20 minutes I was violently ill. The sandwich tasted kinda funny but I never had their pulled pork before so I'm thinking it's the bbq sauce. anyway I had repeated episodes of vomiting after eating it and I couldn't believe it. OMG..other than a banana that was all I had eaten that day so there's no doubt what caused my illness......However, the owner didn't think so and surprised me when I called to inform him about my experience. His response was "well we sold 100 pulled pork sandwiches yesterday and nobody else called to complain" ...REALLY??? Anyway let's just say I won't be eating their again....EVER! I got sick and the owner didn't give a damn! A modest apology and I will check with my kitchen staff, managers etc. or something....but to dismiss my incident like I would bother wasting my time calling for something that never happened says he really doesn't appreciate the business of a loyal customer. went here last night I did expect the lines to be long since just open not that long place is still fresh but employee work fast to get all orders made in ready to serve to you so takes no time I will say when reading the chaps website the menu does vary on location which the Baltimore chaps has different menu selection then the Aberdeen spot that was little tricky at first because wanted to order 4 whole wings which wasn't on Aberdeen menu that on Baltimore one so back track only problem is the screen you look at on top before order very small which cant read wore my rx glasses for distance to see far away still couldn't read what hell wanted to order if fix that would be good overall food was good like what ordered staff was friendly would go back at some point read more
