    Texas Patty Melt
    Grace W.

I think they are understaffed. We went for dinner on a Thursday night during our trip to Catskills, it was full house with just one waitress working. We waited for a looong time for service and food. Despite the wait, they do served up pretty solid food. We got the soup which was quite salty but the Texas Patty Melt (burger) and Pesto Chicken Sandwich was tasty and flavorful. Causal joint with a full bar, even the waitress was by herself but she's pleasant and really nice. I suggest to go early to avoid dinner crowd and the wait ;p

The staff here was very friendly. My daughter got the hot chocolate for kids but it had too much sweets on top... next time, I would probably ask them to leave off the whipped cream and marshmallows so it wouldn't ruin her appetite for her main meal. Kids got the chicken fingers lunch, and order of bacon. I got the blueberry French toast which I really like. My bow got the regular French toast. We also got a pot of the French press. My favorite was the French press and I did like my blueberry French toast. I wish they had pizza during this brunch hour as I believe my sunwood have eaten more pizza than he did. Chicken fingers. Was very quiet that morning and the setting was very calm.

We visited Chappie's while staying in Roxbury. It's located at the center of a very small town and Main St. There are just 2-3 restaurants in town, but they definitely don't slack on the quality of the food. The smoked trout appetizer is excellent, as are the fries - they are made fresh from real potatoes and not frozen. The menu is better-than-casual gastropub fare (burgers/sandwiches, artisanal pizzas, salads, wings, apps, and a couple of entrees) - pretty simple but done well, and we enjoyed our burgers. Service was great.

I visited Chappie's on a Saturday night so it was definitely extremely busy but it was a little shocking that we made a dinner reservation for 5:45pm and I don't think we were served any food until after 7pm. The food was INCREDIBLE though, I have to say everything coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great, my group enjoyed everything we ordered. Lighting was nice and dim, a little cramped overall but the food was so good, it makes sense so many people want to eat there!

Excellent BLT. Staff was very friendly. I had to get takeout because they were closing. Next time I'll get there earlier.

chicken pesto pizza (pizza of the day) and goat cheese salad with hangar steak

We were in town to get away from the city before the summer kicked off. Lucky for us, Chappies is one of the only restaurants open before Thursday, so automatic bonus points for availability. We had popped in for an early dinner so we could enjoy the sunset in town afterward. We were quickly seated at any table we desired, as the indoor dining space was mostly empty sans a group of 4 in the back. Service was quick, pacing of the meal was fine. Select local beers on tap. Brief but exciting menu. Started with the wings, because why not, and the goat cheese salad with hangar steak. Finished off with the pizza of the day (chicken pesto) and sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Wings were a little overcooked and undersauced, but nothing a little buffalo sauce on the side can't fix. The goat cheese was super tangy and steak was perfectly medium cooked. The pizza was fantastic and a testament to always hearing out the daily specials. The sticky toffee pudding was an instant classic dessert.

Can't recommend this place (and Roxbury) enough. Stopped in for lunch on the way home after hiking randomly... Great service/great food. Fries could maybe have been cooked for 2 mins longer and at a slightly higher temp eg crisper.... But every thing else was perfect so can hardly complain. We didn't have desert but we saw the carrot cake at another table.... And if we could of, we would of.

As the only restaurant in Roxbury (currently), Chappies enjoys a distinct competitive advantage. As such the place can get very crowded so reservations are recommended. (We learned this after waiting awhile to be seated during our first visit). Chappie's is a fairly small place with pubby decor and an outdoor deck facing the main road. We ate indoors both times b/c all outdoor spots were taken, and honestly the room temperature was uncomfortably warm. Our friendly server Rob did his best to deal with the hungry hordes. Loved Chappies' version of regional specialty smoked Catskill trout, served with crusty bread and grainy mustard. Their brick oven pizzas are authentic and scrumptious; I especially savored the white shrimp and bacon pizza topped with fresh arugula. Organic greens with chicken was a nice lunch option too. Chappies' beer and wine menu is just OK. We were told the dinner menu is more extensive on weekends but we weren't there to check it out. Very good experience overall, will try them again once COVID-era short staffing issues are resolved (a common problem in this area now).

My dining companions ordered the short rib, which was much tastier and tender. Perhaps this is one of the places that exceeds when it comes to "turf", but you should avoid the "surf." I also ordered an asparagus soup, which was too salty, but had the texture of a bean/split pea soup. They also served generous pours of wines and had friendly service, otherwise. Keep in mind this is a very pricey establishment. For a dining party of 3 people, our bill was nearly $200 for something very middle range -- it's not the glitzy-est of atmospheres for that high price. Instead, it was dark, dank and basement-like. I expected more affordable pub style food with that feel.

THE FOOD...it was good but I was disappointed in my Smoked Duck app which had three small thin slices of duck. The apricot vinaigrette was the star of the dish. The scalloped potatoes were good & were not soaked in cream & butter which I liked. Hubby had his go to drink, a Manhattan and it was ok. His entree was Pasta Carbonara, it was very good. All in all 3-stars maybe 4 because the ambiance was romantic or maybe that was us LOL.

The wild shrimp dish was incredibly fresh, served over a vibrant mix of garden-picked greens, avocado, watermelon radish, and a flavorful kicker dressing that tied everything together perfectly. The Faroe Island salmon was equally impressive -- perfectly cooked and topped with locally picked ramp-infused butter, served over asparagus and fingerling potatoes. Made a reservation over a week prior to the date directly with the owner Joseph by FB Messenger. (I knew they were catering a party for a nearby art gallery that night, so I wanted to make sure they were available for a private rez. Owner reassured me it was fine and he would make a special rez for me). So imagine my surprise when we walked in and were told by Christina that we had no reservation and no tables were available either! I politely explained that I had made a rez with the owner and showed my phone as proof. She walked into the back and disappeared for a awhile, then emerged and said the owner confirmed my reservation so she would "find me a table". No apology, acted like she was doing us a favor. We were seated at a table in a small separate area by the window that's normally reserved for people with no reservations; it was warm and uncomfortable but I was still hoping for the best. Cocktails were good but diluted with too much ice. We started with the Nonna's meatball appetizer, which was fairly tasty but served barely lukewarm with some cool spots. It arrived at our table less than 1 minute after we ordered it. (Maybe reheated in the kitchen?) My quarter chicken with carrots was a paltry portion for the price and suffered from overly aggressive use of the pepper shaker. (Note the large black flecks of pepper adorning the carrots in my picture). Partner's pasta with peas and truffles was made with with undercooked peas and lots of pepper, he couldn't finish it. Given our offhanded treatment I was hoping for a birthday treat or at least a greeting by the mysterious owner, but none were forthcoming. After the meal our server just said "happy birthday" and handed me the check. Partner's "Paloma Lisa" cocktail was listed on the menu and chalkboard at $13 but we were billed $14. Not a big difference, just an additional petty annoyance to an already unpleasant evening. We paid, tipped and left. I rarely give two star reviews, but that's about right for the birthday "non-celebration" delivered by The Print House. Maybe they were having a bad night what with the art gallery party, but there's just no excuse for lackluster food coupled with truly bad customer service. One and done.
