Excellent experience. Friday afternoon right as it opens at 2pm. Still, about 8-10 other people came in with it just after us. The place is somewhat industrial and darkly decorated but has nice big windows so we are getting lots of afternoon rays shining in as well. You definitely get a hipster vibe there, but one without them really trying for it. Our bartender had a fun style and a great personality. She answered all our buzzy inspired questions and came up with three "Dealers Choice" cocktails, which all three of us loved our drinks. Plus, they were nice and solid in the booze factor. I think all the cocktails were $13, but they out serious thought and execution into making each cocktail. Truly hand crafted. Not typically the type to write reviews, but this experience was above and beyond.  Drinks were good, but this woman I met there is what this review is really about... I was finishing off a refreshing bourbon citrus-themed cocktail and planned to head out the door to hit another bar. I had been there for 30 minutes, and the place was dead. Being out of town, I was hoping to meet people, and this quiet Thursday seemed like a bust. I walked out of the Biergarten, ready to settle my tab, only to find this beautiful brunette right before me. The light of her cell phone lit up her face like the full moon rising over the ocean. I smiled, slowed my walk, and when I realized she wasn't just taking a selfie, I had to meet her. Light conversation ensued. Where are you from? What do you do? How long are you in town for? I was interested, but she was with a friend, and they had an agenda to celebrate a successful business trip. Where did I fit in? After 5 minutes or so, her friend found a seat at the bar and waved her over. She said a polite goodbye, and I was left holding an empty glass, swirling a large square ice cube around as I contemplated my next move. Should I stay? Should I go? How do I start another approach? Suddenly, the bar was filling up, and with only one bartender, it was gonna be a while before I could get my card back. What to do?  I wasted no time and walked over to the beautiful woman and, with some bravado, asked if they could help me get my card back by buying their first round of drinks. They enthusiastically said yes! The busyness of the bar was working in my favor. It took a long while to get their drinks. Long enough to get into fun conversations about travel, astrology, and flaky friends. One round of drinks led to another round, which led to shots, more drinks, more flirtations, and lovely pauses staring into this woman's beautiful green eyes. I didn't want to leave. Suddenly, we were closing down the bar (though you really can't close a bar down in Reno, but her friend was feeling no pain). It was time to go.  I finally got my card back and said goodnight to her. I left alone, but the best part was I got her number, and we made loose plans to meet the next day.  What happens next? This is a very nice neighborhood bar in midtown Reno. We stopped in during a snow storm and got to enjoy very well done drink creations and the snow falling out the wi dows around the front. A perfect winter scene. The owner was our bartender. He'll make what you want or ask you what you like and then create a unique drink to match. It worked. My friends and I were visiting Reno and wanted to check out a number of bars in mid-town. One of the bars on our list was "Chapel Tavern". Note: When he learned that we were on a bar crawl, a bartender at another establishment recommended Chapel Tavern, unsolicited. The décor is attractive, comfortable--a lot of earthy wood tones; but there are a lot of hard surfaces, so it can get noisy. There is bar seating, and a lot of communal table seats, indoors and out. It was easy to get the attention of a bartender, and drink orders were fulfilled reasonably quickly. Beer and wine are available, but the spotlight is on crafted cocktails. Our visit took place on a Saturday night. It was busy, but not so crowded people were bumping into one another. We only stayed for one drink, as we wanted to visit a number of places. I don't know if it was just the night that we visited, but the crowd was almost exclusively an under-30 crowd. Chapel Tavern is definitely worth a try. read more

Oh, Chapel... sweet Chapel. How I love you. Let me count the ways... Guys, seriously, if I've been here once I've been here probably about 50 times. I LOVE Chapel. When you walk through the red front door of Chapel, you're immediately in a dark and rustic-looking bar. I love two of the staple bartenders there, Sean and Lex. They are always willing to make Ben (my bf) or me something when we don't know what we want. The fountain of knowledge between those two is something so wonderful and awesome. They're just good humans and they always, always, make me smile. I love that Chapel also has a menu you can order from. Your coaster is actually a Taro card image and it always gives things such a cool vibe looking up what you got. The powers that be at Chapel regularly switch the menu and are always looking for ways to shake up cocktails. But fear not, there is wine and beer on draft if you'd rather go that way. If you ever need a great place with reasonably priced beverages to take someone, Chapel has got you covered. If you're so lucky to come across Sean or Lex, ask them for a Dealer's choice - you won't be disappointed. If you're there in Summer, grab a Frose.... After a busy week I visited Chapel Tavern around 8pm on a Friday and ordered a drink at the bar. The bartenders were efficient and attentive and I waited no more than a minute before someone as able to assist me. The bar back was extremely friendly and diligent. The menu is full of creative and delightful options. I love that they are encouraging the creativity of the bartender and the adventurousness of customer by specifically listing a dealers choice option. I started with the Dr. M. Often I've found that cachaça is treated like it is exactly the same as rum, not so at Chapel. They did an excellent job of building a delicious drink around the unique flavors of cachaça. Plus if you put chartreuse in anything I'll like it (even hot chocolate!). Next I had the Front Row Fatality, a lovely sipper with some of the clearest ice I've seen! Maybe it's covid, maybe it's the smoke, but I had the back patio all to myself. The plants on the back patio help to make you feel separated from the hustle and bustle outside. I love Chapel! The ambiance in this place is absolutely wonderful. It makes me feel cozy and safe which is a must when going to a bar during a pandemic. The drinks are always outstanding and the bartenders are extremely creative and skilled at their craft. COVID-19 When I walk into Chapel, I am always greeted by someone who has extra masks, sanitizer, etc. Their tables are spaced at least 8 feet a part and they are very good at following the capacity limits for their business, unlike most other places right now. It feels extremely safe. DRINKS Every time I have been to Chapel, I've tried a new drink off their cocktail menu and have always been absolutely blown away. Their cocktails are always perfect- an exquisite balance of unusual flavors. BARTENDERS The first few times I went to Chapel, I had a really rude, pretentious, unhelpful bartender who seemed generally annoyed by his customer's presence (though he did make great drinks). Because of this, I didn't go back for a couple of years. The last few times I went, I had the most lovely, gentle female bartender who has made me the best drinks I've ever had in my LIFE. Got off work late and decided to come here and have a drink. There were a few people in the bar and it was nice looking and the music was not bad. I ran in to someone I knew as a child. It was really nice. As I was sitting there, someone from work also walked in so we started as a cocktail after work turned into a little makeshift party. I ordered a Cadillac margarita on the rocks in the salt my usual go too. The girl bartender told me they did not have Grand Marnier but she would make nice versions of a Cadillac margarita. It tasted pretty good. One of the guys that work there, Danial bought a round of drinks. I had a shot of the chela. And the guy that I work with, but another round of drinks. I decided that I better head out I asked for the bill, and it was $38. I asked her why, she said ' didn't you say put the round on your tab?' I told her I didn't, she apologized and then went back to the cash register. She brought me the bill for one drink and I looked at large amount. I asked her to adjust the bill and to my surprise, not only not adjusted, but my credit card was charged $38, $23, and $25. Wtf, that's horrible for 1 cocktail. So yeah, I like the vibe, but careful on the charges as she seem to take advantage of unsuspecting patrons up charging the bill. I think any local would agree that chapel is one of the nicest bars in town. Nice cocktails and beer collection. I like the low lighting in there which gives it a bit of relaxation type of mode. Great place to hang out with friends and be able to talk and actually hear one another bcuz the music isn't too loud. Great service, my friend wanted a cocktail he had two weeks ago but he forgot the name of it. I was very surprised that the bartender remembered what he had two weeks ago and brought it for him. For one most normal folks are still working, but if you are a spirit hound or cocktail lover craving a sidecar of education, this timeframe allows you to engage with the super informed staff while you mostly have their undivided attention. Some of my most exceptional experiences at Chapel have happened during this golden hour. This is the time for window shopping the shelves for that obscure spirit you've been curious about, and trying it. You'll get an up close look at the bottle and a great story from the staff, along with a description and probably some other spirits you should try based on how you enjoy the one in front of you! Flights are my favorite thing to do at this time. Much like the "Dealer's Choice" cocktail option on the menu, I enjoy throwing a few related spirits at the staff to see what they suggest along the same lines, and then taste them with them! I am so looking forward to this again in the near future. My friends and I headed over to Chapel after shopping around in Mid-town. It's incredible that the construction has been going on for years, it's really Angering the locals that complain that their businesses have been poorly effected by this. Come On Reno! The bar looked like it was closed, but my buddy opened a secret red door and inside we went. It was a beautiful atmosphere inside with the bar it's self climbing up the total back walls, super cool. It's so nice to see all the different brands of liquor. My friends ordered a souped up hot chocolate and a hot toddy. They were both delicious! It had a few people around on a Saturday afternoon. The bar chairs were metal with metal seats which aren't too comfortable for a long haul but very nice for a hour. I just love local bars that have a great designer drink menu. My family owned bars in Chicago and Wisconsin so I've been tending bar all my life! Great spot! I will definitely return! read more

Super cool whisky bar in midtown, Reno. I had a short trip this week to see one of my favorite bands and this place was hidden gem! They have a wide selection of single malts including islay ones. I had the most delicious cocktail in my life (i usually dont drink mixed drinks) which was called Cafe Bravado; definitely recommend. Interior was amazing, music was great, bartender Sean was friendly and very knowledgeable, and the price was super nice (Im from Vegas, so I'm used to pay 20 bucks for one shot of single malt). It's easy to find seats anywhere you want. And over the years you get to know the bartender, and they know you. Sara is fabulous!! Summertime Sara creates great refreshing cold cocktails with fresh squeezed juices. And now that fall is here, its time for hot drinks. With a wall of whiskey behind her, her Irish coffees are perfect. The Spanish coffees are a treat to watch, the flames sparking, sugar melting; but even more delicious to drink. If you feel like a cocktail with a treat, order the Wakey Wakey- Chapel's version of a Bloody Mary with all the trimmings. Each is custom created as ordered, so please be patient. Chapel is a great place to grab a drink in Midtown! They have indoor seating as well as a front and back patio. There are times I've driven by and it is packed with standing room only, but every time I've gone in there have been places to sit and short wait times for a drink. Chapel is located in a well-traveled area that is walking distance to many other midtown businesses. The place has a really nice aesthetic and plenty of drink options so that there is something for everyone. I got a frosé the other night which is a frozen rosé drink. It was served in a small glass bottle that resembled a milk bottle! It was the perfect drink to sip while on the patio in a summer evening. I have enjoyed my visits to Chapel, but there hasn't really been anything that puts this toward the top of my list for bars in midtown or downtown. I met a work friend here for a drink. I love the look of Chapel Tavern, wood walls (except for one accent black textured wall), wood counter tops, nearly floor to ceiling drinks behind the bar - all artistically displayed, and one side of the Tavern is full windows. They also have an outdoor patio which is pleasant to sit in during the summer. My friended order two (I believe German) beers and I ordered a warm Mulled Cider. My friend loved her beers. The Mulled Cider was amazing! I'm a sucker for a good cider and Chapel Tavern did not disappoint. It had a complex flavor profile: slight citrus, apple, spices and the perfect amount of liquor. I thought it was a cool touch that they serve the drinks on Tarot Cards. Shawn our Bartender was extremely friendly. He went out of his was to make certain that we enjoyed our time there. The mixologists and the selection of liquors are second to none at Chapel. A great selection of unique and delicious drinks are offered. It can get quite busy but when the bartenders have time, they love to talk about their creations. The also have a great deal ok knowledge about the liquors they serve. The Chapel is large enough to accommodate large groups and small enough to be intimate- the outside patio is nice year round.
