Fried Wonton strips with sweet and sour

We've had our eye on Chang's for a while, but after another great suggestion from a colleague we decided that we would finally stop by. We walk in and the staff is already super nice, immediately asking if it was our first time there and explaining how things worked. It's your typical Mongolian BBQ restaurant, lots of meat options (chicken, beef, pork, lamb) with plenty of veggies, noodles, and sauces to choose from. The recommended sauces were pretty tasty, but another thing that sets them apart is they have some seafood towards the end of their bowl line- shrimp and calamari. I tried two different bowls (I was really hungry) and neither bowl disappointed me. I tried a beef bowl and a chicken bowl, while my fiancé both chicken and beef into her same bowl. I also tried a few of their shrimp just because I'm not used to Mongolian bbq having any seafood. When we returned to the table with our bowls full and our stomachs empty we were greeted with two bowls of egg drop soup, a large bowl of rice, and a plate full of crispy fried wonton strips. Now finally onto the food- it was all superb. The sauces, meats, veggies, and starches all came together for a wonderful meal, like I said earlier I enjoyed it so much I had to go back for a second bowl. My fiancé loved her bowl as well, but could not finish and had to take it to go. The egg drop soup was good and extra thick if you like that, but personally I'm not a big fan of egg drop soup. Chang's is likely one of the, if not the best, local Mongolian bbq places in the Rancho-Folsom area. We will definitely be returning at some point to fill our bellies again. PS don't forget to get a cone or bowl of soft serve after you've finished your main course!

The best!! Been around for years. I've been enjoying food here since I was 5. Now I bring my kids here. I love the whole family - Connie, San, Kim, the whole crew!!

Best place in town! The chef and the stars are always so kind, welcoming, and beyond helpful! They always have classic side dishes waiting for you when you arrive. And most importantly the food is delicious. You get to make your own bowl, and add your own flavors to it. I will always come back to this authentic place!

I love coming here for lunch. They serve soup, wonton chips with sweet & sour dip and white rice. You can choose meat options, two different noodle sizes, many veggie choices and then create your own flavor with a variety of sauces and oils. Staff is friendly. You can get a to go box at lunch if you've just had a single bowl. Bonus *like* when the ice cream machine is working. Vanilla soft serve, cone or bowl and chocolate or strawberry sauce.

I'm a big guy with a big appetite, and this place always hits the spot. I've been coming here for 25 years, since I was in high school. I've been abroad for a decade and came back to visit, and I'm so happy the quality is the same, and saw the same friendly staff. Ice cream machine after an awesome meal. I really love this place.

OMG sooooo bomb! I can never get enough Mongolian Grill

Chang's has been one of my favorite restaurants in Folsom since I was in high school. I've tried numerous other Mongolian Grills in other nearby cities, and have yet to find any other that I like as much as Chang's. I believe lunch and dinner are both all-you-can-eat, but you can only take home leftovers on your first bowl. This has never been an issue for me, as I've never been able to finish my first bowl, and always end up taking some home. The price is the same no matter what you put in your bowl. I usually start with chicken and beef (seafood options are only available at dinner), and then add tons of my favorite vegetables, such as pineapple, bell peppers, tomatoes, carrots, mini corn, onions, etc. They do a pretty good job of keeping the buffet line stocked and clean. I don't think I've ever had an issue getting enough of whatever ingredients I wanted. Even though the noodles are located in the middle of the buffet, I put them on last. It's much easier to pack down noodles over veggies than vice versa. Once I've stacked my bowl as high as I can, I move on to the sauces. I noticed that other reviewers have complained about the sauces being watered down, but I think that's just because they are cooking sauces, not finishing sauces. I've never thought my food came out bland. I usually add at least a little cooking oil, a lot of cooking wine, garlic, ginger, and then whatever else I'm in the mood for. I don't have an exact formula, but usually add anywhere from four to eight scoops of sauces. It comes out a little bit different every time, but I've never been disappointed. I've loved every bowl I've ever created here. If you don't want any part in creating or assembling your own food, then, this may not be the right spot for you. If you are bringing friends, you may want to make sure they understand ahead of time that they will have to put their own bowls together. I recently brought a friend who made statements like, "I shouldn't have to make my own food. I could do that at home." Maybe some people could, but, as someone who lives alone, it's highly unlikely that I would ever have this many fresh vegetables and ingredients in my fridge all at the same time. Prices have gone up recently, just like they have everywhere else. I remember when a lunch bowl cost less than ten bucks per person, but now it's nearly twenty. Still not bad when you consider that I got like four meals out of my last bowl. Way back in the day, Chang's used to have a full menu, and diners could choose whether to order from the menu or the buffet. I'm not sure exactly why they got rid of the entire menu, but I miss it. They had some of the best cream cheese wontons around. Aside from the AYCE bowl, a meal at Chang's includes rice, wontons with sweet and sour sauce, and dessert. The dessert varies, but usually includes soft serve ice cream with optional sprinkles, chocolate sauce, and strawberry sauce, as well as some sort of jelly roll cake. I definitely don't come for the wontons, rice, or dessert, but usually end up eating some, anyway. Overall, Chang's is still the best Mongolian BBQ spot I know of. I can't recommend them highly enough.

You can smell Belly Barbecue's deliciousness from outside and once you walk in that only intensifies! Everything is cooked to mouth-watering perfection! Their portions are ample. There is plenty to share and the 2-3 platter will feed our family for two sittings. The hubster and MIL raved about their baked beans and I was in heaven with the cheesiness of the grits...YUM! Also, the option today for the blueberry cornbread was fabulous! Their servers are friendly, work hard, and deliver up the smiles. Inside there are seating options for small and medium sized groups. Today we decided that after seeing the movie Michael, we wanted some food because well, Popcorn and a Drink certainly doesnt cut it when you're hungry. Right as soon as we walked in if you turn to the left you get to see a huge menu and with there being so many things to choose from, we choose Tri-Tip Soft Tacos and Pulled Pork Tacos. The wife came over with some samples of BBQ Sauce to try and I first tested the Sweet Fire Heat BBQ Sauce and the Buckhorns BBQ Sauce and just to say that since I dont really do Spice (Except every so often) the Sweet Fire Heat BBQ Sauce wasnt very spicy and the Buckhorns BBQ Sauce was delicious. However when I walked over to get the California Gold BBQ Sauce and I tested that, WHOA!! It immediately hits you in the back of the throat. After waiting for about 4 or 5 minutes the waitress came over with our food. She presented my wife with her Tri-Tip Tacos and then to me with my Pulled Pork Tacos. As soon as I took a bite out of my Pulled Pork Tacos, you could taste the chewiness of the meat because it was so tender. My wife and I then swapped 1 Taco each and after I took a bite out of her Tri-Tip Taco, it then mirrored the same tenderness and taste of the Pulled Pork. It was soft and when I poured the Buckhorn BBQ Sauce on it, it actually added more flavor to the taste of the Tri-Tip the same of my Pulled Pork. I then tried the Strawberry Dragonfruit Lemonade and while I wasn't a big fan of that I decided to just change to Mango Lemonade which was very good as well. Thank you Buckhorn for such a great experience. Oh yeah, when they brought out the Bavarian Pretzel and the Buckhorns Beer Cheese.. WOW!! The size of the Pretzel caught my eye but it was very good as well. And while we spent a good chunk of change, everything here was very well worth it. Definitely a 5 Star place because the food and the BBQ are most certainly ON POINT!

Four of us were doing some Palladio window shopping when we came upon the Buckhorn restaurant. We peeked at the menu and decided to give it a try for an early dinner. One in our group had eaten here previously and enjoyed her meal immensely. Ok... let's go! Ambiance: Big, large, almost warehouse-type feel. Love the open kitchen with all the cooking/barbecuing going on. Super nice bar area with a dedicated bartender. Excellent for a couple or single walking in and wanting a more intimate experience. Enormous amount of tables and booths. And as you enter the checkin area there is well laid out and easy to read menu signs. Love the "do your ordering at the get go", pay, and then relax until your food is delivered. Also a handy/easy concept for groups or anyone not liking to figure out and splitting individual food costs. Food: Delicious! And there was 20 minutes left of happy hour when we came in. Who knew!?! Two of our group ordered from the HH menu and two did not. Beer battered onion rings served with ranch, the Buckhorn Burger and three Char Roasted Tri Tip Sliders all from the HH menu. (Check out those great prices from my HH menu photo.) I ordered the Cabo Chop Salad and added grilled chicken. And a side of lightly salted fries... just because! As requested, the onion rings and fries were delivered to our booth first. Both were piping hot and delicious. They hit the spot. And disappeared fast. Yum! After devouring all of that, everything else came out looking and tasting f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c! Not one complaint. My salad was wonderful and I would definitely order it again in a heart beat. Bar: Great selection of anything you may want. Wine, beer, and cocktails. Impressive HH prices were sweet too. Sean, the bartender, was super welcoming. I chose a Sauvignon Blanc and Sean brought it to my booth in minutes. I could see enjoying a future HH at the bar! Customer Service: Top notch! We interacted with a young woman when we entered and ordered. She was AWESOME. Friendly, professional, quick to answer all our questions as first-time diners and knowledgeable about the many menu items. And again so nice of her to get our order in before 5 for those using the HH choices. A big thank you to her! Both she and Sean made our dining experience wonderful. I am sold on the Buckhorn for great food, drinks, and service. Nice outdoor dog friendly seating. Great for families and groups. Clean! Parking garage nearby. Do not miss the Buckhorn!

We bought another side, macaroni salad. We requested that the pulled pork be placed on the side and additional sauce. I dislike being that customer with persnickety preferences. But we were, and they didn't blink an eye. Super accommodating. The pulled pork had a deep smoky flavor. Tender shredded pieces. Mmm. The sauce was served on the side. That too was delicious. Hubs had the brisket and wolfed that down before I could swipe a piece. Darn. The potato salad was tasty. Slightly tangy, which I really liked. The place is family owned and operated. It's a sports bar and family friendly bbq joint. Giving off family friendly vibes. But hey, a bar and family friendly? Yes. They both co-exist harmoniously. Talking about sports. The TVs of course are tuned onto sports. All of the screens are strategically placed throughout. They even have framed signed football jerseys from USC Trojans, Denver Broncos, and 49ers to name a few. Pretty neat.

I'm not well versed in Filipino cuisine, but I got working tastebuds and I like what I like. I meandered into the eatery on a recent weekend mid-afternoon. The tables were filled with happy folks enjoying their meals with a line of folks waiting for an open table; that's always a good indicator. I decided to order to go. The owner was cashiering. She was super helpful and engaging. Big smile. I ordered the two item combo $13.99 that comes with rice and pancit. The pancit was classic with all the familiar flavors. Ginisang Pusit. Squid. Soooo good! I never had this dish before. The squid was super tender, not mushy nor rubbery. Perfect tenderness... how did they do that?!? It had a sweetness and slight spiciness. Spiciness without the heat, but packing a bunch of flavor. I'm still thinking about that dish. Pork Kare Kare. It was served with a side of fermented shrimp paste. Not a lot of restaurants provide that shrimp paste, so I was stoked even if it was a smallish portion. The paste was a perfect compliment of saltiness to the creamy peanut butter sauce. Yup, PB gravy sauce. They also sell imported Filipino packaged snacks and pantry items. Plus they sell halo halo. I saw folks with gorgeously delicious looking halo halo. Colorful layers of shaved ice, ice cream, and toppings. The eatery is not particular large, so when it's a full house, it gets crowded cozy.

There's plenty of parking spots as it's in the same plaza as Raleys. It's a smaller shop that poses as a restaurant on one side and a small market filled with Filipino snacks on the other. There's not much for ambience, but it's clean and cozy. The owner served me, and she was super warm and friendly and very welcoming. I had questions about the food and their menu and she was very patient going through all of them. She introduced me to pitchi pitchi which is a sweet and salty cassava dessert that reminds me of mochi. The cheese threw me off a little, but I read that sometimes it's served with coconut flakes. I ordered two halo halo desserts, two combos, the cassava dessert, upgraded the rice to garlic rice, two orders of lumpia, and picked up a couple of calamansi drinks and garlic peanuts as a snick snack. Total bill plus tip was over $100. The menu changes every day, which I think is interesting. And every Sunday they serve lechon for $18 a pound. Check out their Facebook page for updates in case I got this information wrong. For the food, I had half pancit and half rice. I had adobo chicken, butter chicken, and two pork dishes that I don't remember the name. I like that the pork had a good combo of fat and lean meats. I wish I could've eaten it there but we had lunch and then decided to stop here. I felt like the food being warmed up after sitting in the fridge for a bit, It kind of made all of the entrées taste similar to each other. Next time I will vary my order, like I'll get a saucey dish, a sour soup, and a bbq skewer. All in all the food tasted very homey and delicious. It's heavily seasoned. I can see myself ordering lumpia and pancit to a party. Can't wait to go back and try their lechon and pork belly.

Everything BJ's did wrong, LZ did right. From the host counter, to seating, to even the smell of the place, it was right. Table spacing, right. Decor, right. Waitress, right, right, right!! She took our order and didn't even have a pad or pencil. I thought well, it's just the two of us, but I saw her at the next table, 4 people with lots of options and she didn't need to write a thing down. We started with drinks and candied bacon. Just great! Hardly anyplace has diet coke, only Pepsi, but LZ has my diet coke. Thank you! We each ordered from the $15 menu. Me some sort of BBQ bacon cowboy burger thing and my wife had shrimp tacos. I asked for medium rare and it came medium rare. The lettuce and tomato slice were cold, the burger hot and the bun warm. Right, Right, Right. I substituted fries for onion rings and got plenty. The oil was good, not the freshest, but that's o.k. too. Some sort of dipping sauce, no ketchup, but after tasting the sauce, I didn't need any ketchup anyway. I did salt the burger and rings, but that's just me. Most folks would find them seasoned well enough as they were. The meal comes with individual sized dessert. I had some sort of brownie/ice cream thing which was awesome! My wife had the banana pudding. It was exactly like homemade. The wafers were fresh, not soggy, the pudding cold and chilly. While the brownie was warm with gooey sauce and a solid scoop of ice cream. All was right with dessert. The only thing I would have liked was our waitress to check on refills, but I did fine as it was a tall glass to begin with. We were on our way to Harris Center for a concert and this was a great place to hang out before and probably after too, if we were with another couple. No left overs, we ate every bite and enjoyed ourselves. We will be back regularly.

Food deals include half off all appetizers ("smaller") and tavern pizzas (flabreads). Specialty cocktails, wine, and beer are discounted a couple dollars and well drinks are nicely priced at $6. We came around 4:30pm and there was a lot of seating available. The hostess was welcoming and our server Evelyn was great. She had a chill and pleasant attitude and was very efficient with our requests. Kitchen was quick to bring out my poke nachos, and our combo pizza and chicken wings came within 10 minutes. My husband had to send his lemonade back because it was carbonated, but they fixed it right away and it was perfect. The poke nachos was stacked high with crispy wonton chips and diced raw tuna with a spicy aioli sauce throughout. The buffalo chicken wings were sauced just right and still a little crispy. I heard the server tell another patron they can do bbq sauce or naked if you do not want buffalo sauce. The flatbread pizza wasn't as crispy on the bottom as I'd like (probably because of all the toppings) but the edges of the crust were good with a nice chew/crispy ratio. Overall, food was delicious, and at half off, definitely worth it, Since there were only a few patrons in the restaurant at the time, it was fairly quiet, but I've been when it's packed, loud, and lively. Iron Horse Tavern is always a good choice for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, and especially for Happy Hour!

We decided to try something local and came across Big Island Hawaiian BBQ, which was a close enough drive from where we live so we figured, why not give this spot a try? Overall, we had a really great first experience. The quality of the food stood out right away as everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. We were honestly very impressed with how good everything tasted. Even though the portions aren't as packed as some other Hawaiian BBQ spots, the food absolutely hits all the Hawaiian flavors and cravings we love, and we left very satisfied. The pricing was decent (slightly cheaper than other Hawaiian food spots), the interior was clean and well-kept, and I appreciated the designated sauce station on top of having sauces at each table for convenience. To top it all off, the Pineapple Dole Whip was the perfect dessert as it was light, refreshing, and such a great finishing touch. Another big thing to note is that they offer Musubi Mondays, where you can get 50% off musubis. My husband immediately noticed the sign for it in the front of the store and was so excited. We thought how it was such a sweet deal that we are already considering coming back on a Monday just for that to stock up on musubis to eat at home. However, there is a max of 2 orders per customer for the Musubi Monday deal, but still totally worth it to try. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is purely because of portion size compared to other Hawaiian places. The spam musubis are also a bit small in size compared to other places that make spam musubi but the teriyaki sauce that goes with it makes it better! That said, the quality, taste, and overall experience definitely make up for it! This is officially going to be our new go-to spot for Hawaiian food moving forward, and we're excited to come back again soon!
