I've been shopping at this location for over a decade. I even bought my first classic flap here. The 3 stars is for my previous positive experiences. I had to knock off 2 stars for my experience yesterday with Sabrina. I came in with a broken sandal to get fixed & she acted like it was a waste of time for her. I came in with my shoes with box and before she even looked at them, she said do you have receipt? Like I stole them or something! Was not compassionate about how my $1300 sandal broke and would help but instead said "not sure if we can fix it and there might be a $85 charge if we can fix," etc. Her demeanor was not friendly, welcoming, or helpful. When I went to Nordstrom Chanel, the SAs there were upset for me that my sandal broke. Sabrina didn't care at all and just ready to get off work. She didn't ask any questions about the shoes like how I've worn them maybe 6x and they shouldn't have broke! I asked for something to drink and she said we're almost closing so denied me and my 3 guests like it was an inconvenience to ask someone to help grab us water. It was the end of the day and we've been walking around so of course we're thirsty. Guess who ended up getting us 4 waters? I asked the nice gentleman who took me to the restroom and he said absolutely! Another lady then brought us waters. Was that so hard? This experience put a bad taste in my mouth. Scored some rocking boots at Chanel & there was a lot of love to be found for this boutique. Firstly, the staff was all super friendly & paid no never mind that I walked in there, in my sloppy yoga pants ... but it's really just a sad social comment on our city that I actually have to intentionally dress down these days, to go to Union Square. These guys get that & there's no judgement. Love you for that! Now, back to the happy stuff....... Which leads me to point #2.....their selection of items - so much more than you'll see online. There are 2 more pairs of shoes I saw in the boutique & not online, that are haunting me. In addition to some pants, a jacket & maybe a dress or 2. I had to keep the blinders on or I would have gone crazy. Again, they get that. As we were walking downstairs my advisor told me he recently had a husband who came to refresh his wife's fragrance & walked out with some diamond earrings as well. Now that's a great husband! Thirdly, unlike other high end designers, Chanel has a world-price, meaning what you see price-wise in France or Italy is what you'll see here. Not to the penny of course but it's close enough to understand they've consciously made attempts to make it as easy as possible, to take their lovelies home & not save it for that big trip to Europe! This review is for Miles Lin!! I stopped in last weekend with my hubby in search for some earrings. I have shopped at the Chanel in Nieman's ( San Diego, SF + and Palo Alto) as well as inside San Diego's Fashion Valley Nordstrom stores. Miles by far has provided the BEST customer service. Overall, I didn't get any snooty vibes and everyone was so welcoming and I was not rushed at all which I loved! Miles packed up my purchase perfectly! I will definitely be back soon for a bag! I love this boutique! I wish that this boutique was closer to home. I would visit often. It was my first time visiting a Chanel boutique not inside a Nordstrom or Neiman and now I solely want to go to standalone boutiques and not buy preloved online. Service: Delightful, thoughtful, proactive. Fortunately, during my visit, it wasn't busy at all, and there was no line. As usual in luxury stores in this area, there was a security guard in the doorway. Upon walking up, he motioned me and my hubby right on in, and we were greeted by 2 ladies. I let them know that I was looking for a mini bag in any light color, and they looked for one for me right away. They had several high chairs to sit on, which I appreciated. I was in a tall boot and using crutches because I broke my ankle. I really enjoyed my conversation with my SA, Emma. She was lovely and she really wanted to help me find something I would love. Even though they didn't have exactly what I was looking for, she found me a beautiful piece for my collection. Sometimes, an SA will just say, "We don't have that" and stand there staring at you lol. She wasn't like that, which I appreciated. I know that Chanel practically sells itself, so great service is always appreciated. Selection: The store had so many gorgeous options. Emma showed me several different gorgeous bags, which made my decision challenging, but this is the kind of challenge im always looking for. She found an absolutely beautiful current season tealish green mini tophandle for me, which I adore. I didn't expect to find such a gem that day so this really made my day. Picked up an order I purchased over the phone with Lissie. Emailed her asking if she had the zipped card holder in the San Francisco boutique and she sent me photos of what the store had in stock. I wanted the caviar leather in black with SHW and at the time they didn't have it in stock but the next week, she emailed back with four options! I was beyond excited as this is usually not available in the store because they have limited number in stock. Short Story: A great place for bags in SF! Long Story: I've been here a few times over the past few years and my experience has been quite positive overall. Their sales consultants are easy to work with, knowledgeable, and friendly. As of the time of this writing, weekend are appointments only but they do accept walk ins during the weekdays. You can still make an appointment on the weekdays, though. Their bags are frequently in high demand so you might need to go on a waitlist. Also, sometimes the waitlist gets full and you might not be able to get on it! So, you'll have to keep checking back in. Parking and traffic there can be tough so be sure to budget some time! She went on telling me they wouldn't know when, possibly to check back by end of the month, didn't give me her business card, and didn't want to check another store for me because she "knew" they didn't have it also. While stopping at LV, my bf purchased an item and while chatting with the SA, he told me he used to work at Chanel for 5 years and it was odd Joyce told me to check back in the next months. He recommended I try Palo Alto's location. I stopped by Palo Alto's location, called customer service while in line since it was over an hour wait to get in, and the manager was nice enough to assist me. Oh, they also had one available that I was lucky enough to purchase. You would think spending thousands of dollars here, customer service would be top notch but no, subpar, snooty attitude, who tf are you? Having had the experience of going to other luxury stores on Rodeo Drive, those stores make sure to completely spoil & pamper you. The SF Chanel literally felt like I walked into a Coach/Michael Kors store - rushed, zero drinks offered with narrow and crowded walkways to & limited seating areas. It's really distasteful to Chanel's name and just suggestive of SF's lack of understanding the importance of having a lux enjoyable experience vs. shopping at a fast-fashion boutique. Not to be a total snob but please take yourself somewhere else to drop $10k so that you can actually have a full-blown pamper sesh while you shop. Their bags come with odd markings unique to the leather and if you return within their 14 day guidance with the same NATURAL LEATHER markings it came in you get told you can't return. This location is hit or miss for handbags. I've mostly ran into really nice sales associates, but my friend has met at least one snooty one (one of the sales ladies who speaks Mandarin, I assume she only has eyes for rich Chinese people and us commoners don't cut it). I've come here several times to purchase and return stuff. Almost every experience has been good. Most recently this girl named Clarissa was super sweet and honest, not pushy for a sale at all. Although I don't think I've met a pushy salesperson yet. She let us try on a bunch of handbags since I was super indecisive. I ended up with the Medium CF in black caviar and silver hardware right before the 1/15/21 price increase (basic, I know). For Chanel boutiques, if you make one purchase you can get items shipped to your address going forward. During covid you have to keep your mask on of course. On weekends there might be a long wait, we came around 11:40 on a Sunday (12-5) and we were the first in line. If you're shopping for the first time, don't be intimidated! Just pretend you're going to Target and obviously be polite. It's their job to show you stuff even if you don't buy any. I used to feel bad and we really don't need to. If you want potentially more options or different salespeople, Neiman is right across the street and has a small boutique inside. Usually the line is shorter even though there's less salespeople. Finally got my classic flap medium here! My SA Cari is very patient and professional with me. I was not sure what I really wanted before going to the store. I originally like the coco handle because it is an easy style. Cari let me try the blue color small size. Also let me try the black color medium size. Then she went ahead and pulled out a few medium classic flap with silver and gold hardware. Also different leather on each bag. Finally she pulled the boy bags.......wow can't decided which one!!! Each one has their own characters and matched different occasions! I want all of them. Hahahaha. Cari explained each one pros and cons and give me advice on which one fit my style and body size. I usually don't write much Yelp reviews. However I really feel the need to voice my disappointment towards how Chanel handled their business. My wife and I were at the store on May 27th, it was our first time visiting a Chanel store. First we waited in line for about 20 minutes, then we got greeted by a very nice lady who then directed us to one of her sales associate Annie. After Annie learned that the bag my wife wanted has to be ordered, she didn't seem to give us the time of day to explain the difference in the Classic Chanel bag variations. After spending 5-7 minutes we then decided on ordering a medium classic flap black caviar leather, which the wait time is about 4-6 weeks. Fast forward 6 weeks later, my wife received a text message from our sales associate Annie saying the bag has arrived and if its ok for her to process the payment with the credit card # we had provided. My wife texted back yes and to please process order and ship to our address. However, my wife later receives a phone call from Annie saying that there must have been an order issue, since the bag she received was a different/smaller size and asked if she wanted that one instead. My wife did not want the smaller size, so now we are told that we have to be back on their "waiting list" for another month or two. Keep in mind that we didn't know there was going to be a price increase from Chanel 8 weeks ago, and now not only do we have to pay an increase of 10%, which translate to about $800. This just doesn't seem right. What went through my thoughts when my wife told me the story, was, what "if" they received our order in size medium and perhaps sold the bag to someone else who they thought was more important and that customer wanted to purchase the bag before the price increase? I don't know how far this will go but there is a saying, while a happy customer may or may not tell their friends their good purchase experience they had, but an unhappy customer will tell 20 plus of their friends and family. I just really hope that I'm the only one who experienced this unprofessionalism at this Chanel location. I went to Chanel today to browse and tried on a few pairs of shoes. After browsing I noticed that I couldn't find my personal purse. I tried to stay calm and I informed the sales associate that I couldn't find my bag and went across to Neiman Marcus where I was last. I couldn't find the it in Neiman Marcus and then started to freak out. As I was canceling cards I let the Chanel staff and security know that I could not find my bag. They were very attentive and swift to action they went to check the security cameras. They helped to keep me calm and a security guard from Nieman's let me know that they located my bag. I really want to share my thanks to everyone at Chanel. Before I "lost" my bag the staff was great. Giving everyone a personal shopper to accommodate you while you browsed. And offering refreshments. From telephone call to shop, my customer experience with this location was stellar! I was in search of a pair of ballet flats released this SS18 that I saw in a department store, which unfortunately did not have my size. I called ahead to see if this boutique had a good selection of ballet flats in store. The sales woman confirmed they had several classic styles, as well as some of the seasons new release. I headed over to have a look. It's a small shop and always has a crowd. Somehow the staff is always ready to help. They are unbothered with the summer rush of tourist shoppers, giving everyone a warm welcome. I dashed upstairs to find I was the only one in the shoe area. The entire Chanel shoe collection all to myself! Yes, thank you. I had the undivided attention of the sales clerk who patiently helped me with 3 different ballet options. At check-out we spoke briefly about the day and discovered that one of her colleagues was from France. We spoke about the World Cup and how France was going to crush Belgium in the semi-final. Allez les Bleus!! Very professional, pleasant customer service. I didn't feel rushed, persuaded or find any hint of snootiness. Alex prepared my bag with precision befitting Chanel. I walked out the proud new owners of a pair of classic, Chanel ballet flats. Conflicted on this experience. The training for ALL employees needs to change. I apparently needed to call to make an appointment in order to get into this store (I could just stand in line). The customer service rep on the phone asked what I was looking for and I described to her a certain pair of shoes. She said "that was vague" in a very condescending way. I finally got an appointment (3 weeks later). The sales associate was professional and not too pushy. I got a sense that he wasn't expecting me to purchase anything and that I was just there to browse. It turns out I didn't need to make an appointment. There was a queue set up on the side of the entrance available!!! I was very disappointed in the disorganization of the front of staff. I get it---Chanel is a highly desirable luxury brand which doesn't need advertising or obsequious groveling to push their merchandise onto eager consumers. Nevertheless, I expect a top-notch level of service at any business that dares to charge their customers four and five figures for purses that haven't really advanced in design in decades. We did not receive that level of service at the Chanel Boutique near Union Square. Our sales associate demonstrated a shocking level of disinterestedness and ennui during our entire encounter; he probably assumed we couldn't afford anything there. The boutique was a lot smaller than I would've expected and they had a surprisingly limited selection of products. The store was immaculately kept and the staff were predictably trendy. We got much better service at the Chanel counter at Nieman Marcus, just a block or so away, where we ended up buying just what we were searching for. read more
