I came to Hacker and Krain a long long time ago to purchase a chef knife. I recently came back to…read moreget the same knife sharpened, and as usual, this was an incredible experience. The shop owner is an extremely knowledgeable person. Not only will he walk you through the process of purchasing a kitchen knife (it's not as easy as you may think) he will also tell you wonderful stories about the history of the knife you are about to purchase. All knives come with a "lifetime promise" that the shop will not charge for sharpening something you purchased at their store. Almost 5 years later, the shop owner stayed true to that promise (no receipt required, of course). You can also visit this store to sharpen knives that you have purchased elsewhere. There is no charge for this, but the owner will ask that you kindly place a donation for paediatric cancer research. What a wonderful idea! There are both Western style and Japanese style knives on display, as well as a few pocket and steak knives. I personally don't remember them all, so you will have to visit them to get the full list. I would definitely recommend this shop for anyone who is passionate about cooking, and even if that is not the case, I would still drop by on a day off to enjoy some wonderful stories and check out a very interesting store!

There's an abundance of kitchen supplies from fancy gadgets, baking wares, kitchen storage, tools, and many more of things you didn't know you need. If there's a specific kitchen ware you need, you'll likely find it here. The owners are also very friendly. They know their stuff and are always happy to help. I always enjoy having a look through and seeing what I can find. Depending what you're looking for, the value is really quite a huge range. Compared to William Sonoma for example, you'll find fancy items here for a little bit cheaper. But there are also things you can get from Amazon or in local stores much cheaper. I.e. they priced a potatoes ricer at $43 sale price, but you can get it for $35 online. If you find something you really want here, just take a second to check the prices if you don't already know it. Make sure you're getting a good price. Sometimes it's a good deal, other times it's not actually. Either way, I love stopping by here

I saw Allison's review of this place, and looking at the photos they seem to have a large selection, so I thought I would give this place a try. We were able to get a bowl big enough for Pho, and this place has a fair amount of dinnerware, but not as vast as expected. They do have a nice selection of different kitchen/small household appliances with reasonable prices. They have dinnerware items of different themes, cutting boards, tons of chopsticks, and so much more. They have a large warehouse at the back for businesses/restaurants I suppose, but this store is definitely open to the public. Since they have the biggest selection of chopsticks, I would get chopsticks here next time. Review 99 of 100

This one is located in Heartland Centre, which can get pretty hectic, depending on when you go. I went on a Sunday afternoon, which wasn't bad. I got a parking spot fairly close to the store. For a while, I have been looking for a funnel. I have a number of water bottles that have a narrow opening. I like to load hot tea and iced tea in these bottles that keep their temperature for many hours (12 hours for hot and 24 hours for cold beverages). One of the staff there asked me if I needed any help. He found them a few steps away from where I was. I was so close to the funnels! I thanked him for the help. I got three silicone, colourful funnels for $6. If you subscribe to the store's mailing list, you get even more discounts and exclusive offers. I love this store. It's clean and bright. I'd come back just for the helpful staff, including the woman who cashed me out. (142)
