I called to find out if they had a hard to find item. One was in stock. They kept it on layaway. The next day, I picked it up. Their computer system showed that it was being held for me. I paid at the front register and a beautiful 8.5 x 11 receipt was printed for me. The cashier was a nice older lady. A gentleman brought the 40 lb item from the back room and carried it to my car. Excellent service from start to finish. This place is a gem. read more

I cant say enough good things about this Home Hardware. All the staff are very professional and helpful. People from the cashier to Murray the owner do everything in their power to make suggestions and recommendations. I go in not knowing what I need for a project and leave with everything, including instructions on how to proceed. I would never go anywhere else. read more

If you are used to the big box hardware store: Rona or Home Depot, you would be really disappointed at Markham Home Hardware. It is small...really small in all department. But it has been in business serving the community since 1959! If you come on a nice Sunny afternoon, it is jammed packed with seniors shopping in the area. And surprisingly it has a decent collection of kitchenware. BBQ seems to be their expertise. They also provides both sales and services to bbq. I drop by here occasionally if I shopping or eating in the plaza but it is A-OK for something small or you are an Aeroplan point collector! read more

Markham Home Hardware - Hardware Stores Near Me - Markham, Ontario

I like to support local stores instead of the big box dollars funnelled to the US etc. They are very service oriented here and more of the small hardware store of the past. Staff is helpful and if you know the store over time you can get in and out faster than parking at Home Depot, Lowes or Rona. They can be real helpful if you are stuck on a Do it Yourself home repair. read more

Murray Wicks is so incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. It is like an old style hardware store with a heart. No problem finding someone who can help you anytime at all. Special events with traegar and Webber have been so helpful for us. Love it. read more

You won't find everything here but they do have a lot and are very service oriented. Love that it's local and you always find your neighbors here as their first choice for project supplies and advice. read more

I wasted my time driving here. The store has a gas station. WTH? Very strange. And the cashier talks loudly with customers in Chinese. It hurts my ear drums when chinese people are shouting at each other in Chinese across the store - and this was an employee! It must be a cultural thing, but in Canada were are supposed to be more reserved and respectful of others around us. Please take a hint. Never coming back. PS- Store is Super small. read more

I bought a Patio Umbrella at the Home Hardware in Sutton. Never opened the box and had my receipt and decided to return it at the Markham Home Hardware store. Just to be sure that, they will accept my return, I did call them in advance. I was assured by one of the staff over the phone, that it would be a no problem to return it at their store. Got there with this huge box and guess what? Sorry, we don't stock this item. We can't return it, we are independently operated that is all I heard. What a joke, Home Depot, Lowe, Rona they will get my business from now on. Thanks for wasting my time. read more

I don't shop here often, but the crappy service had me realizing why. I ordered some filters for my spray paint gun two months ago at the store, no one ever called me back or follow up so I went into the store to check on the status this morning. Well, the first cashier just walked away from the counter after cashing in the customer in front of me, and while seeing that I was standing there. He never said a word to me or acknowledged me. Second cashier comes along and said to the lady behind me that he will take her next at the opposite cash register, again just ignored me so he can let the lady behind me go first. I spoke up and told him that I was waiting in line too, he reluctantly came back over, impatiently, again no greeting and no apologies. After I explained my situation, he plainly said, well, if we did not call you then it did not come in yet. He finally went into his computer and checked and just said it must be on back order. Again, nothing further to say when the filters would come in, not even maybe follow up with somebody in his order department. Wow, now I know why Home Hardware never made it into a big box store, even if they wanted to, with that level of customer service, why would anyone shop here? Sorry, your store will never be the big players because your attitude is just plain uncaring. read more
