They also ran out of hand sanitizer so they had to hunt for them today. They only have 20 left. A 118mL bottle cost $5 each which isn't inflated.

Within a few minutes, they walked me through the different Weber grills, explained the advantages of the different types, and we decided that I didn't need the most expensive one. In fact, I could save a few hundred dollars by buying a much cheaper version. And, so I did. I asked how much it would cost to ship it, and how much it would cost to have it assembled. They told me that they did it all for free. Checking a few competitor prices to see if they just folded those costs into the price of the BBQ I was astonished to discover that, no, they did not! This was a free assembly and delivery. That right there is a two hundred dollar value, at the best of times! So now, a few weeks later, I'm BBQing chickens like a king, looking forward to tasty treats all summer long, and I know exactly where I'll go when I need anything else in the future!

I had to bite my tongue as I wanted to call him out on his rudeness. He took the keys and seemed to be having a hard time creating duplicates for us. Finally he gave us our keys, we paid and left. On getting home, four of the six keys were not cut properly and did not work in their locks. I called the store and guess who answered? Yep, this rude individual who now started interrupting me; Not letting me speak. "Just bring them back. I don't need to hear what your saying. I might not be here anyway". I was simply buying screws to attach legs to a table top. I explained that the table top was about 1.0-1.5 inches thick (so I would need screws that are shorter than this). The staff person, a thin guy, maybe 40 yrs old, wearing a baseball cap and a goatee, kept giving me ridiculously long screws, as if he wasn't listening to me at all OR deliberately messing with me. He gave me 4 inch, then 3.5 inch, then 3 inch, then 2.5 inch, then 2 inch screws, even after clearly showing him the thickness of the table top on a ruler that was right in front of him. Moreover, his manner was despicably rude and condescending, sneering every time I said I needed something shorter. Feeling pressured to just get out of there, I ended up buying screws that are probably too long. This person should not be in a customer service role at all! Indeed, he should be terminated as soon as possible! As another recent reviewer noted, it's "not the Dudley's it used to be."

So "no thank you" to corporate hardware services, hello local retailers! This was a tiny place packed with all sorts of items. The staff was interested in helping me find a solution to my problem I was seeking to repair. I watched as they had a rapport with other local businesses and took careful time to discuss how to handle a 'rodent problem' with a neighbour. You only build that kind of trust and rapport by treating people kindly and with care. Discussing the various options including poison was an overheard conversation, but it was telling to me. Customer service is the bread and butter of the retail industry and a good measure of the trustfulness that one can have with a business owner who is attentive and caring. I'm definitely coming back with my business to this store, even though the corporate hardware option is closer.

Cashier tried to deny us the scratch and save promotion because our paint cans were 3.7 litres and not 3.78. She finally relented and allowed the discount after I showed her the advertised cans on the flyer were also 3.7 litres (I also confirmed with the person who tinted the paint for us, prior to having it tinted since it's non-refundable once it's tinted, who said the discount was on all one gallon paint cans). Cashier was also confused about whether the customer could scratch the coupon or if she had to do it herself. She spent about a minute reading the fine print on the coupon even after I told her three times that I didn't care if she scratched it for us. Then after all that, she had to call for a manager to approve the discount and apply it to our bill, who acted like he was doing us a huge favour. Sorry but this was a promotion advertised on the front of the Rona flyer! We shouldn't have to jump through hoops. By the time we were finished paying there was a line-up of about 10 people behind us. Oy yoy yoy.
