I came here to buy N95 face masks during the Novel Coronavirus scare. Yesterday a box of 10 with valve cost $60 (limit 2 boxes per person). Today (2020-01-29) they cost $80 (limit 1 box per person). The 3M brand costs $12 each (normally $6 each). The staff seem very nice and honest. They explained that their suppliers keep raising prices so they have to raise prices. They said there will be no more available tomorrow onward! I also bought a pack of 5 without valve for $20. They also ran out of hand sanitizer so they had to hunt for them today. They only have 20 left. A 118mL bottle cost $5 each which isn't inflated. read more

This neighbourhood old school hardware, paints, and random stuff store is awesome! You don't have to haul yourself to a big box store (Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.). The best thing is the customer service. Not only were we able to buy the P-trap we needed but also got 2 great referrals for a plumber. read more

Came here on a weekday morning to pick up some small supplies. The store opens exactly at 8am, I got there a few minutes early and had to wait in the cold. The store isn't big on the inside but everything is neatly organized and sorted so Most hardware which you need, you will find it there, but obviously didn't carry as much variations as the bigger chain stores. It wasn't hard to find what I was looking for. What they have on the shelf is basically all they have in stock. The staff that works there were helpful as well as friendly, I was looking for a specific type of screw hooks and he brought up so much options and choices which I had to stood there for over 10 minutes deciding which ones are best. After buying what I needed, I realized the type of screws I bought was the wrong size because the label was incorrect. I went back into the store, told them I got the wrong size and wanted an exchange. They were very helpful in trying to help me figure out which ones were the ones I needed. The staff also serves you quick and if they're not there at the counter when you're ready to pay, there's always a bell for you to catch their attention! read more

This place sticks out like a sore thumb on Adelaide. It does make sense though, even with the glut of condos around, as homeowners need a place to buy mud and drywall stuff like spray foam, etc., downtown and not have to drive to get it. Speaking of driving, this place was super handy with the little street adjacent to the store with free parking, at least for a few minutes. Quick service here, just like Jacobs, they are on you as soon as you set foot in the place. Rotblott's goes with the large paint stores in the area like bacon and eggs, so let's hope they can continue to serve the downtown residents forever. read more

This will be your go to store to pick up anything hardware related. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I bought a deadbolt and ended up not being the type that I needed (completely my fault). They took it back, no hassle. Prices are beyond reasonable and really is the only place you should look if you are in the core. Beats anything on amazon or the big box stores. See some yellow, and you're in the right place! Got some keys cut here. Was super quick - in and out in literally minutes. I've since come back and cut three more keys and all have worked perfectly. And all of this for under 5$ per key... I've never had to do this before, but seems like a good price to me! I poked around the store and it seems like they had a decent selection of all things hardware. I noted some real cool lightbulbs - might have to return for those. It really is the best place to go if you live downtown Toronto. It's not the biggest store, but they have pretty much everything you need in the daily life at very reasonable prices. The staff is also very knowledgeable, patient and kind. I had a couple of questions for a grout cleaning project and they walked me through and made great suggestions. This place works for me. I don't mean that I employ this store, of course, but just that when I need hardware-type stuff this is a reliable place to get it. It's also a good place to get advice about what you may or may not need. The place isn't huge, so they are missing some niche items you may want, but they'll work with you to come up with a work around...and that's the way they worked for me. Prices are not cheap for standard stuff, but not horrendous either...Toronto standard. The store is well organized; and though a bit cramped, you shouldn't have any trouble finding what you are looking for...or a person to help you find what you are looking for. I checked out a few reviews of this store before heading down to purchase a few N-95 face masks last week. I missed the boat at Dudley's on Church Street, a few days before where they were just under $3 each, so me snooze, me Lose. When I got to Rotblotts store on Adelaide Street East, I went as per the signs to line up outside the store entrance to wait for a staff person to allow me entry. There was a total of 2 of us lined up to get in. The door opens and we were both greeted quite abruptly and I wasn't getting the feeling of being welcome at all. Hey wait that isnt what the reviews I read about this place reflected. I went to the cash register where the fellow was friendly and I requested some N-95 masks. He told me they sell in packs of five so I said I would take two packs or 10 total masks. Within 15 seconds, I had 10 masks in my bag, 2 packages of 5 each, and all of a sudden, I handed over what would have been $30 elsewhere, a total of $113 for these. I choked on my way out of the store, thinking that if they save me from getting covid 19 I could justify my grocery money for the week and realize there were no choices left. No other options. I doubt I will be going back to Rotblotts any time soon, and if you have lots of money to burn, and wanna pay hijack prices, maybe this is the place for you. read more

I must be going crazy but I'm giving a paint store 5 star! I am re-painting my condo and I decided it to do it myself. After an afternoon of guidance and tips from my dad, I felt somewhat prepared. I yelped to locate a paint store nearby and was surprised to find something in the central downtown core. I fully expected this to be some kind of fru-fru posh paint shop, but when I arrived it was obvious I was completely wrong. Stepping into Rotblott's is like being transported to a small village hardware store. It's full to the brim with home reno items, with paint stuff upstairs. Everything is really reasonably priced. What's even better is the staff - mostly 20s something handy guys who don't try to upsell you. The paint guy suggested I check out the $5.99 gallons of paint to see if there was any colour that would suffice, vs mixing me a can for $21.99. Was really impressed that they didn't try to get more money from me. 5% discount if you like their facebook page. I will definitely be back here! read more

A great alternative to Canadian Tire. When I lived by the Thompson, I used to walk by this place on my way home all the time and wondered what this big yellow building named "Discount Warehouse" was discounting. One time I was buying tools at Canadian Tire Eaton Centre, and they were severely understocked, I, for some reason, thought Rotblott's might have it and dragged my bf there to look. Bingo! They had EVERYTHING. The prices are equivalent, or sometimes slightly cheaper than Canadian Tire, but not by much. If they don't have something you're looking for, they will point you in the right direction too. The owner is always there and always good at giving you advice or upselling and marketing his store. A cool place for some good deals on hardware stuff. But a little bit of a dangerous place for hoarders. They've got some cool stuff that you may not find other places - and some bulk stuff that you can save money on. I had a great experience here when I was repainting my apartment this summer. Very helpful staff, and their mix-master was able to match any colour we gave him and it was much cheaper than other paint stores. We did have to return one day when he wasn't there and they gave us a bunch of discounts for our trouble. Plus they have a selection of mis-tints for $8. I might be the biggest fan of Canadian Tire you could meet. In fact, if they served fine food, I'd never leave. But, not having a car to transport the sometimes cumbersome loads I often purchase there, I had to find a solution closer to home. And now that I discovered Rotblott's, I promise - unless I get a car again - I'll never look back. Rotblott's is the quasi-Dollar store of home renovation. Granted, you'll be hard-pressed to find anything for a dollar, when it comes to hardware and renovation supplies you won't find better value. The $5 cans of paint on the second floor is what they've built their marketing strategy on, and with good reason. When you consider big box stores charge upwards of $20/gallon you're saving 75%. You may not find the exact colour you're looking for, but if you're not fussy you can pretty much find a shade in your ballpark. Knowing I couldn't find 2 of the same colour (in the haphazard mound of sometimes dented paint cans) to cover the massive wall of my condo, the staff recommended getting 3 shades of a similar colour and mixing them in a 3 gallon bucket. What? You can do that? You sure can! Worked like a charm - and I got 3 gallons for less than the price of 1 would cost at the Home Depot. I've been back many times to pick up such items as saw blades, wood filler, appliance casters, caulking, a dry mop, batteries and decking screws - and I've never walked away disappointed. In fact, I leave happy knowing I scored what I know is the best deal I could find on the items I purchased...and they do cash-back! The staff are knowledgeable, albeit not always the most friendly or energetic, but one thing you can count on: they're there when you need them. read more

DON'T SHOP HERE! Toronto! They are selling N95 masks for $60 to over $100 making a disgusting and selfish profit. When I asked them why the masks are so expensive the answer was, "Well you know, we don't know when we'll be able to get more." That isn't a reason to over charge scared and vulnerable people in your community during a global crisis. When I was in the store I witnessed them sell 5 masks for $80 to an elderly man. Either give them out for free for people in need or donate them to our frontline workers who are risking their lives every day. I will never shop here again. My recommendation is for one thing: Paint. Upstairs they have a mountain of mistinted paints for $6 a gallon. I grabbed two colours that were fairly close to what I wanted and mixed em together at home. My living room slash kitchen is HUGE! I had enough of this gorgeous perfect colour to do the whole thing with a bit left over, for $12. The rest of the store is nice, they have an enormous selection of coloured tape! Prices are reasonable but not super cheap, helpful staff, lots of neat stuff. But go there first if you need paint. read more
