I love the professional and friendly service that every associate offers there. They are knowledgeable and for a smaller-sized store, seem to carry everything. read more

very hot and cold customer support. am i bi-polar or are they? and it's always been like this for over a decade. it just isn't comfortable shopping there. read more

Not the Dudleys it used to be. I have shopped at this location for many decades. The staff used to be wonderful. I went in yesterday with my partner to get some keys cut. While discussing with my partner how many keys we needed. a very rude skinny man with a baseball cap on basically told me to shut up as "he" could only talk with one person at a time. I had to bite my tongue as I wanted to call him out on his rudeness. He took the keys and seemed to be having a hard time creating duplicates for us. Finally he gave us our keys, we paid and left. On getting home, four of the six keys were not cut properly and did not work in their locks. I called the store and guess who answered? Yep, this rude individual who now started interrupting me; Not letting me speak. "Just bring them back. I don't need to hear what your saying. I might not be here anyway". Needless to say I will not be returning to this store ever again. read more

I just had one the worst customer experiences I've ever had at this place. In the past I could count on friendly service at Dudley's, but I doubt I will ever return. I was simply buying screws to attach legs to a table top. I explained that the table top was about 1.0-1.5 inches thick (so I would need screws that are shorter than this). The staff person, a thin guy, maybe 40 yrs old, wearing a baseball cap and a goatee, kept giving me ridiculously long screws, as if he wasn't listening to me at all OR deliberately messing with me. He gave me 4 inch, then 3.5 inch, then 3 inch, then 2.5 inch, then 2 inch screws, even after clearly showing him the thickness of the table top on a ruler that was right in front of him. Moreover, his manner was despicably rude and condescending, sneering every time I said I needed something shorter. Feeling pressured to just get out of there, I ended up buying screws that are probably too long. This person should not be in a customer service role at all! Indeed, he should be terminated as soon as possible! As another recent reviewer noted, it's "not the Dudley's it used to be." read more

I did not go to the store. They did not have what I needed but they were very good to me on the phone.

you won't find friendlier environment and don't let the size for you ;-) good things come in small packages. This place has everything despite its square footage. Hats off to the staff who have always got the right answers and always carry just the right items. Don't worry, if they don't have what you need they will help get it for you. The exact hardware store every neighbourhood should have. read more

5 stars all the way. Staff is very friendly and gives great advice. Highly recommend them

Had a terrible experience...rude staff... Nope I'll go to Home Depot or Canadian Tire...bye bye Dudleys. read more

Brutal Really overpriced items Had an experience recently with a woman working cash who was rude and dismissive. I'll travel out of my area to Canadian Tire in the future. What a shame. I generally try to support these smaller businesses. read more

Today I went back to exchange the incorrect product I talked about in my last review. Of course, the person behind the counter tried to give me the same incorrect product again. I told him another clerk had put the correct product behind the counter to ensure there were no more mix-ups but he could not see it. A more knowledgeable clerk came along and told the first one that I was right and got the correct product from behind the counter. No one apologized or said a word about the poor service. read more

Gave me great advice for getting rid of mice! Perfect local hardware store, they really have everything you could need in there.

Just came out of my car I had my mask in my hand she was sitting 4 m away behind the desk. I open the door and stayed in the door frame. As soon as I open my mouth she attacks. I tried to put the mask on since I saw she's getting close to me and she doesn't care to attack me physically I just left the store I didn't want to risk anything in my opinion she was rude unprofessional I'll take my business elsewhere never go back. read more

Dudleys used to be a wonderful place to shop on Church Street. However customer service has taken quite a downturn. There are several recent reviews all stating the same that formally loyal customers have been receiving rather rude and somewhat hostile service from a few of the employees. The owner was made aware of this, as I hoped something could be done but unfortunately was met with blame. It is unfortunate as I truly love to support small local businesses but customers also need to feel support. read more

Extremely helpful. Helped me realize I was purchasing the incorrect wall anchors and select the correct drill bit too. Had no problem returning and exchanging items on another occasion. From the outside it doesn't look big but has a surprisingly large range of products. Would highly recommend for all your hardware needs read more

Steve, your store is incredible, but customer service is so lacking. I was in the store yesterday afternoon and and there was a man screaming, splitting, threatening to smash the windows. I watched as your new staff( Chris) manage move him away from the window. But Jen, was screaming at Chris like she didn't know what to do. Seriously, Chris, has been working in the neighborhood for years, as Head of Security, with fantastic customer skills defusing mental health and The Village Community. I love coming into the store and support LGBT but I refuse to come in, if Jen's customer service skills don't improve, I can't see coming to the store unless she is not working. Kudos to Chris for defusing the situation and still having a smile on her face. Courtney read more

Dudley Hardware saved the day for me. I went to Home Hardware only to find that they had closed early. The other hardware stores in the area had closed at 6 but Dudley's was open until 7. I made the trek over to the store just in time to get what I needed just before closing. Unfortunately the staff seemed more interested in talking between themselves than helping me find what I needed. I realize that I was coming in just before closing, but why don't you provide some customer service to get me out quicker so you can close? This unfortunately stopped this from being a 4-star experience. read more

Hands down a store with amazing customer service. I just recently purchased a new condo and I was in need of completing a few odd ends on the old place before renting it out. I must have come to this store at least seven or eight times in the past few months. The staff here are always ever so helpful. I show them my pictures of what I need to fix and they offer suggestions on how I can fix it. Honestly, I couldn't ask for a better shop and it's just around the corner. Their prices are quite reasonable given that they are smaller than your big box stores, but their customer service will win you over every time. Earlier this week I was in a bind. I had purchased an item and had it cut to size... or so I had thought. I was at the rental unit and without a hack saw to cut the custom piece. I really didn't want to go to them for free services, but I had no choice given my time constraints. Within three minutes I was out of their store with my metal piece cut to the proper size. No charge. I offered to buy them coffee but they politely declined. I will certainly be popping my head into this store before going to the other big stores, even if it is a bit out of my way now. Keep up the great work guys!!! read more

The people who work here are soooooooooooo helpful. They will spend half an hour happily giving knowledgable, genuine advice, at the end of which, they may happily sell you just $1.26 worth of nuts and bolts. Such a great local business!! They're dog friendly too! read more

Hooray for the local hardware store! In this day of Canadian Tire's and Home Depots, it's great to have a local option next door. What really makes this store are the staff. I'm not a home repair expert, and when I really need some advice, this is where I come. I'll tell one STORY: I needed to figure out how to mount some blinds in a concrete wall, so I brought in all the mounting hardware, my various drill bits, and left my pride at home. They were more than happy to help me figure out a solution. I really wanted to tip them because the cost was under $2 as they're perfectly happy to sell you screws 1 at a time. The SERVICE is EXCELLENT. They can get a little busy, but the staff has always been happy to help without hesitation. The PRICES are a little all over the map. I've found items that were eminently reasonable like various fasteners and the like that were priced comparatively to the big stores. I also found some things that were priced at just silly price points, like the mops. You have to be a bit selective about your purchases here. The only other negative point is that as a smaller store, they won't always have what you need either because they don't stock it or out of it. I'm fine with that...it's the trade-off for the personalized service. read more

I adore this little shop. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly, the stock is practical & well priced plus the staff has always been helpful to me. The variety of stock reflects the size of the store. It's small, but they've taken the time to make sure it's practical & frequently needed items. Sand paper sold by the sheet, light-bulbs, paint, key cutting, general tools - that sort of thing. Even when busy, the staff have always been great. I tend to show up half way through a project saying "I need 5 more of these, please!" and showing them a staple/bolt/hook and then they'll dig around and find the parts I need. read more

THis is by far the best hardware store in Toronto with know how to spare. THey may not have wood, but they've got just about everything else and they can tell you how to fix any problem. And guess what? They're friendly!! A real change in this day and age. Long live Dudley's. Cathi Bond read more

What a great local hardware store ! I've bought a number of things in here in the past year and it always surprises me that everything I've come in for is always here and at a great price. The store is small, the customer service is absolutely outstanding ! Today I came in for the little magnet closure for the kitchen cupboards ...yes I'm still having issues here and yes they had exactly what I needed. Thanks Dudley Hardware ! read more

I really loved going here because it is like the cool local hardware store and the people working there always had great insight for my projects. The staff have always been great and super knowledgeable/helpful, but unfortunately I had a pretty terrible experience last time I was there. An employee (blonde woman) was really so rude, it was almost unbelievable the way she spoke to my husband and I. Even the other employees were in disbelief. I actually had seen this same woman be rude to clients before but this was pretty bad. She really came off as aggressive and unfortunately I don't know if I'll feel comfortable coming back :/. Hopefully your experiences will be different! read more

A perfect local hardware store - they've got it all packed in there. I'm a fixit newbie and am shy sometimes to ask for help or guidance but the staff at Dudley's have always been friendly and knowledgeable and comfortable to be around. It's a neighbourhood delight. read more

Just a great mom-and-pop store. It is small, but for those small jobs around the apartment, they're perfect. And the staff, just resoundingly wonderful. Some of the things they sell I could probably get a bit cheaper at Home Depot. But patronizing this wonderful store is worth it. read more

The guys in this store are fantastic, they give such great advice and are not trying to make a quick buck off someone who does not have a clue about DIY, hardware, and basically all things construction (yours truly). I could not recommend them enough and if you live in the neighborhood I would urge you to go here for all your DIY needs! Thanks for the help guys. read more

Today I went there for Curb-Side pick up to buy soil for plants. I specifically went to this store in an effort to support not only local businesses, but also businesses on church street as I have seen a lot of articles about the businesses on Church Street struggling and wanted to support small business in my LGBT community when possible. The man (I believe one of the owners) at the door was extremely rude to us when I asked the difference between the two brands they sell as I wanted something organic and without chemicals in it. He sent it to look through the window at them, where it was impossible to see since we cannot read the back of the bag. I felt he could have been more polite especially being a small business and that church street is petitioning the Federal Government to help businesses on the street. This is the second time I have had rude service there, and ironically it was the 2nd visit I had too. A little more than a year ago I had keys cut there that didn't work and the person was rude as well. This small business must be doing well if it can afford to be rude to customers resulting in them just walking away. Very disappointing as it would have been nice to support a small LGBT business, but I also won't give money to rude owners. read more

They're always helpful and knowledgable (coming from a girl who doesn't know shit about how to fix things).

The finest and nicest people you will ever meet. For those everyday fix-ups and painting you can find it at Dudley's.

Very service oriented. If they don't have it, Steve can order it for you. Love having a neighbourhood hardware store like Dudley's.

Very friendly. I went in there looking to replace a triangular quick link from a Blast Straps suspension trainer that bent out of shape and wouldn't close. They showed me the closest thing they had, explained that it probably wouldn't do the job (after I said what it was for), then let me use the vice grip in the back to fix my broken one. read more

Amazing staff , very helpful, always polite and quick, a great neighbourhood store, lots of Selection for a small store

If you seek personalized service (something the Canadian Tire store located up by Church and Yonge Streets is notoriously bad for), this small hardware shop is the place to come. While the selection of items doesn't comapre to Canadian Tire, their service is what makes this store stand out. Offering general home improvement items and paint, this Village business is a great example of a traditional mom and pop store that outdoes the larger big box rivals in town when it comes to customer service. read more
