I finally got the chance to Try this Houstonian establishedment while visiting the area for a work training. I visited during lunch rush, which it was pretty busy. I ordered a bacon cheese burger, fries along with a vanilla shake. I paid $20, for my meal. The burger was huge and they give you a good amount of fries. Service was great, Its a casual, walk up establishment, they do have available sitting outdoors if you choose to eat on site. My honest opinion, I had better burgers in my time.

Champ Burger is an EaDo staple that I finally had the opportunity to check out for lunch. Coming on a Mon at 1230pm, this place was packed! Love seeing the lunch rush though because you know it's gonna be good. Ambiance wise, this place is very chill. No indoor area, just order at the counter, get 1 of their outdoor patio tables or take it to go. There was a line to order, but service was very fast. Burger wise, this place is just a well executed classic burger. Big, juicy, fresh toppings, honestly nothing to complain about. The onion rings were some of the best that I've had recently, and I ordered their "Texas size steak sandwich" to go as well for dinner, very filling. I'm so glad I finally took the time to try out this EaDo gem. I understand why they've been a Houston burger staple for so long now. I'll definitely be adding this place to the list in my burger rotation, enjoy!

Champ burger has been an Houston institution for many years. Near Downtown, the parking is pretty bad. Need to make sure you note the street signs. But it's definitely worth the journey. After trying a number of different burger spots it definitely wanted to come here again and make sure that it was living up to my previous experience. Just happened to get there at the right time there was nobody waiting and as soon as I placed my order and grabbed a seat, I turned around, and there was a line of approximately 20 people waiting to order. The seating is all alfresco. I ordered a steak sandwich with fries and a drink. The fried steak was tender and moist and the fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The service was friendly and helpful, answered all questions.

I had heard about this place in an article so I decided to try it on my way Northwest from the League City area. First of all, the trains in that area of town blow. There were a ton of stops everywhere. Good news about Eado is that you can work around it if you're quick enough and don't get trapped. An entire train was completely stopped and I was not for that. Parking was easy and you can pull up right in front. Loved the couple who took our order then gave it to us. Ate the fries on my way home and they were hot, crispy, potato-ey and appropriately salted. The burger reminded me of a Whataburger BUT the meat was thicker, tastier, and overall more delicious. Proud to support a local business and we will be back. They have benches outside you can eat at the order came out fast, but also fresh.

I've had this on my "try" list for some years -I always find myself just outside of business hours whenever I'm in the neighborhood. I lucked out last week and made it over just around 10:30. I learned that they served breakfast but I was in the mood for a burger. Here's what you need to know- they take orders in advance. I mention that because there was a steady stream of customers that had already placed orders or were there in person before I arrived that morning. This place is popular. To do it right, I should have ordered a milkshake to go along with the lunch special of a burger and fries, but I wanted to keep it simple because it was so early and I don't usually start my morning off with heavy food. I ordered a burger "all the way" (mustard + mayo, onions) and then added cheese and jalapeños. From my first bite I felt like this is what local Whataburger would taste like. By that I mean, the crispness of the lettuce and onions accompanying you in every bite was incredible. The condiments were not too heavy -because I like mayo, I probably would have asked for a little extra. The burger itself wasn't heavily seasoned which I was okay with but it did have a few pieces of gristle which gave me a panic attack almost every time I bit into one because of my dental work. One of the things I smelled immediately upon getting my classic white paper bag was the scent of the fries. I could feel the warmth through the bag and couldn't wait to get to them. I wish they'd lived up tot my expectations. I felt like they could have used more seasoning and some didn't feel fully cooked to the perfect softness that can be achieved. But I had enough nibbles to be satisfied. If I were to go back I'd prioritize the child cheese fries and a milkshake. Chances are high I will go back. Staff was really nice and they work quickly given all the orders coming in.

I love a good burger and this one didn't disappoint at all

The burger was juicy cheesy and fresh. Placed an order at the window service was pretty quick. Ambience was like your typical burger shack! Fries were fresh but not my cut of fry, I prefer seasoned battered fries. But over a good choice.

This place is an EaDo gem and I appreciate the random person that put me on. The lunch spot for champions. The special is more than enough and the fries are a top tier and can't wait to try the onion rings next time. The burger is great and they make small accommodations but no subs. The staff is definitely the family and are so sweet and the service is swift and you can tell they know they have a good thing and no changes need to be made. I love the benches near the window and the back patio is nice with the fans and garden seating. Alrhough the parking is street there is no shortage and the wait feels none existent .

Champ burger w/ cheese and extra pickles

I have been wanting to try this place for a while based on reviews, finally made it out today. Ordered the Lunch special- Champ burger, fries, and a medium drink, it did not disappoint! The burgers are pretty big, juicy, and very tasty . The fries were hot, fresh, and the perfect size, not too thin or too thick. The lady that took our order was very sweet and gracious, we enjoyed talking to her while we looked at the menu. The outdoor seating was clean and well shaded. Only negative is they only gave us one napkin in each bag, still can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu.

Hear me out! This burger spot is top tier. There needs to be 10 stars available to rate this place because they delivered a quality burger and it was stacked! As an LA native home of the best burger joints on the west coast. Argue with your mama not me! Champ Burger takes the lead of the closest thing to home. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and loaded. I got the champ burger with cheese, bacon, grilled onions, jalapeños, tomatoes and lettuce. No need for a double patty, this is not your in n out size burger the one patty will do just fine. I thought my cousin was exaggerating after the first bite until I tried mine and she wasn't. It was the real deal! All I'm going to say is if you are in second ward stop by and give champ burger a try. Not only is their food good but the prices are great, give good portions and the staff are nice. This is a burger stand vibe so whether you want to eat in the outdoor seating area or take your meal home the Champ Burger team got you! See for yourself and support this business!

Got a parking spot on the street right in front

This spot had been on my list for a while now. I waited so long that the anticipation really built up. Once I finally tried it, I was not disappointed. I had the chicken fried steak sandwich and a side of onion rings. The sandwich was good 3.5/5, not great. The onion rings were great 5/5. I went at about 2:30 pm, there was a line, not long, but longer than I expected for the time of day. I will definitely try a burger the next time I stop by, definitely recommend.

Great burger place. Made fresh at window or can call in advance. Nice sitting area outside, but a little hot during summer.

Food comes out quickly and you are able to modify it however you want! There are coloring sheets for children and wifi. Lots of seating to eat (both indoor and outdoor). There is a soda fountain and water that is self serve. Definitely a place to hang out with friends/family and grab a quick bite to eat. loved the SWEET SOURDOUGH as the bun since it was slightly sweet and had a nice squishy like chew. The sourdough element really gives it that tug that I love in bread. the patties are thin, lacy, and smashed. Nicely salty and seasoned. for the sauce I would recommend the SCALLION AIOLI since it was warming and garlicy adding a really nice punch of flavor. the SWEET POTATO FRIES were a delicious side (crisp, piping hot, tasty). Overall I have not much to knock burgerchan on - besides their lack of lettuce wraps as an option haha but they do offer your burger on a bed of lettuce. they also have super fun unique milkshakes like vietnamese coffee, black sesame, etc (I'd try that next time). lots of sides and protein patty options in case you don't eat beef. they also have chicken, turkey, and falafel.

Similarly to their more popular location in Memorial (#2), this outside of this Bellaire spot doesn't immediately tell the full story. The interior has an industrial vibe, with the high ceilings and overhead fixtures, but as converted into a solid dining space. The large tilted mirrors in the main area are reminiscent of the now defunct Helen's (#3) and makes for a fun (or perhaps distracting) visual. The spacious layout allows breathing room for all kinds of groups. Service has been good overall, and prompt throughout every visit. The American bistro inspired menu has a decent amount of variety that spans from brunch to a tasty weeknight dinner and a drink. Their starters have a variety of tasty bites that include the white truffle eggs, wicked wings, prosciutto-melon burrata, Mama Pauley's meatballs, and a very addicting chipotle pimento cheese dip. While I appreciate the vegan-friendly hippie chickpea croquettes, it needed just a bit more seasoning. Their bacon double cheeseburger has been deemed "insta-famous" and it certainly didn't disappoint. It's juicy, a little messy, but a lot delicious. It paired well with their large cut fries (consider upgrading to the truffle fries), but the house made chips are also a good light bite. Their salads are equally fabulous from their classic caesar to a hearty cobb salad. I wasn't as impressed with the crunchy Asian salad, but thought their faro salad was a thumbs up. Understandably, the priciest meals are some of their grilled and house specialty meals, such as a prime tenderloin filet ($42), Mediterranean roasted redfish ($36), twelve hour ribs ($29), and rosemary-lemon chicken ($29), all of which are solid. I feel the buttermilk chicken tender platter ($19) is really meant for children, but is great for any tender lover in the bunch. Their weekly "features" are a series of daily specials that range from prime rib nights on Wednesdays and ribeyes on Thursdays, and "kids eat free" specials + their happy hour give folks plenty of reason to check it out. ___________ ( #1) Especially during their seasonal deals which can sometimes include steep discounts.
