If I could give it negative 5 stars I would. How many times can you screw up a burger. Then when a group orders you forget half the order. And when I go back to argue that you forgot a few things you have the balls to ask me dumb ass questions. Never ever will I order from this crappy establishment. I go to sparkles and they never ever mess up an order. read more

I have been coming here for over 30 years. Grew up in the area and have just been enjoying the burgers and shakes. I don't live nearby anymore, but come over every chance I get and has become a favorite of my grown children. Best burgers in East End. read more

This is my favorite mom n pop place to eat at in Houston. I used to come all the time when I was a kid. Prices have changed but the taste and service is still the same. Haven't been in over 2 years and when I finally got a chance to go and saw everything was literally 2$ more I was hurt however I love this place. I go and get the same thing every time! Definitely a good place to go with a less than 10 drive from minute maid, BBVA and downtown. I recommended it! Shakes are very good as well, pair it with the steak sandwich and you got the best combination. read more

One of the best burgers around! I used tonwork down the street and would come to Champ Burger for breakfast and lunch and have never been disappointed! Champ burger with chili cheese fries and pink lemonade WHAAAAT! The grilled ham and cheese was my favorite. Bring cash as it is the only currancy they take. Call in your order prior to going to get your food faster, but the wait isnt usually long. read more

1st time coming, omg this was the best burger I've eaten in a long time, and I love my burgers. The hamburger was massive, could only eat 1/2 and ate other 1/2 for dinner. My husband and I will be back. read more

It was so good and I'm very picky about burgers. But I love this mom & pop burger joint. The burger was huge. Took a while to eat it actually. But it was delicious & not greasy. It was dressed & prepared like I would do myself. It's really a good home style burger. The staff was also very friendly and sweet. My food came out pretty fast. I definitely will become a frequent customer. read more

Did anyone else get sick from eating here on 05/18? I got major food poisoning from a burger and fry meal that day. The one time I had it before (about 3 weeks ago) it was fire though so I still give 5 stars. I won't be going back (decided to change my eating habits after feeling like sh*t for two days straight lol) but don't let that deter you, the food is good af. but I just wanted to know if anybody else has been on their death bed after that day... read more

Been going there since 1974 as a kid. And now as an adult I'm still hooked on them Great Homemade Burgers !! If you've never had them , your missing out on a Good Burger and Good Serve. Must try read more

Legit local burger shop. Burgers are cooked right and made to order. The lunch special is only $8 for a burger, fries, and drink. Just walk up to the window and order. 5 min later, your order is done and you go home. I opted not to eat there because it's all outdoor seating and it's 100F outside, but the seating there looks adequate. Bottom Line: I'll be back for the awesome value lunch special. read more

I was near downtown and passed this place and all of a sudden had a taste for a burger. You walk up 2 the windows, order from a menu and wait for your food. You don't pay until the food is bagged and ready. I ordered the champ burger with swiss cheese and an order of fries. This has got to be one of the best tasting burgers I've had in a long time!! Fully seasoned, juicy and was a nice portion. The fries on the other hand were hot and fresh but bland in flavor. There's a place to sit and eat outside but it was a bit chilly out. They seemed to have a lot of traffic coming through so they must be doing something right. I will definitely be returning! read more

Champ Burger - Champ burger with swiss cheese, no onions or tomatoes. - Burgers Near Me - Houston, Texas

They have the best burgers!!! Orange sherbet shake is a must try. Tastes like orange dreamsicle. I get a plain jane cheeseburger with pickles and mustard. These burgers are large enough for two people. So is the order of fries. You can call in your order to pick up or eat it there. Cash or credit. Their website has a menu, the hours and phone number. No public restrooms. So, go with an empty bladder. Outdoors only. Worth the visit. My husband has been going there for nearly 35 years! Go!!! read more

The purveyor was very polite and seemed to know everyone and if you are a first time customer like I was he took the time to describe the food. The kitchen which can be seen from the ordering window was immaculate and the aromas were amazing. I had a breakfast sandwich and my brothers had tacos. They were down right delicious. If you are in the area give them a shot. Loved it read more

Is there a 6 star option? Place was awesome. Super delicious burgers and the staff was on top of it during the lunch rush. While waiting I noticed a bunch of old timer regulars ordering and catching up with the staff. Always a good sign of a good neighborhood spot! read more

We order breakfast tacos from Champ Burger for our company meetings. They are always quick and the tacos are delicious. There have been instances when we needed many more tacos on short notice and they are always quick to accommodate! Love the tacos here, YUM! read more

Thank you Yelp for helping me find Champ Burger. I saw that it has been around for longer than I have and I only found this place while waiting during jury duty. Shame on me! Great, sloppy burgers, nice fresh fries and yummy strawberry shake. Nice, little outdoor seating area and pleasant, fast service. I will definitely back! Highly recommended. read more

Damn good burger. When I worked close by, it was a struggle not to go here more than I should. There are some hidden gems in EaDo and this is definitely one of them. read more

Wow! What an amazing burger and a great team at this location. I have eaten here twice and will be back.

My first visit. This was an okay burger joint. Good burgers; good fries. However, it wasn't anything to write home about. If I'm spending $12.80 for a double bacon cheeseburger, then I want it to at least be memorable. Quite honestly, I would have preferred a burger from Five Guys. read more

The best real burger in town. It's always yummy and the fries are always good too. On a nice day sitting outside with a good root beer. They use the great small soft ice. You can have you burger your way. read more

Great food at this neighborhood staple backed up by family service. Must haves; cheeseburger, any of the shakes. They also have a chef salad with grilled chicken that's superb. Call your order in ahead of time, as they can get busy around lunch time. Love Champ Burger! read more

This is the absolutely BEST burger place in all Houston! Been going there for 30years! It has the freshest vegetables and the burger meat is absolutely delicious as are the fries. This place will forever be my favorite burger place ever. My only complaint would be the working hours. They close at 5pm every day and don't open weekends. I wish it was open longer. read more

My new go to for a tremendous burger and outstanding chili fries. I'm from Cali where the shredded cheese is greatly appreciated on the chili cheese fries unlike Texas everything is cheese sauce. Lol but Champ Burger totally gets it I love it!!!!! read more

Completely good burger. Nothing amazing - it's a pretty basic, not too terribly seasoned burger. It is HUGE for the price, though, so for under $5 you can be really full and happy (it is cash only, so be prepared!) Apparently the line can get long right at lunch time, but I've stopped it around 1:30 and it's been non-existent. read more

To all my vegetarians out there...looking for the best veggie burger (black bean pattie) champ burger is the one to go. The whole burger itself is juicy and flavorful. I've tried other black bean patties and they were dry and stale, I highly recommend this burger joint. - Yalixia Abarca read more

Eh, it's ok. Normal greasy spoon burger, nothing special about it at all. Fries are mediocre. Only outside seating but that's ok. Place looks dirty inside and some food handlers not wearing gloves. Not going back. read more

Been going here since I was kid back in the 70s. The steak sandwich hasn't changed. Still as good as back then. The burgers are delicious! I moved away after I graduated and used to come by and pick up burgers for my mom and me when I would visit her. They still remembered me. Food and service #1 in my book! read more

This is my favorite hamburger joint. It's a family owned business and the staff is wonderful. I love the cheeseburger and the chicken sandwich. Awesome onions rings and fries too! read more

So surprisingly disappointed yesterday. I drove from Channelview to get my steak sandwich fix because this place always delivers deliciousness. Picked up my order only to find old dried out fries and the driest steak sandwich ever. It was like it had been sitting since that morning or even the day before. NEVER had this happen before. read more

I love their burgers, they never disappoint. I wish they could develop another restaurant near league city.

An old school, walk-up to order, burger joint. Sadly, places like this are slowly disappearing. Champ Burger has all the classic, hamburger stand vibe and a menu to match. For me, part of the magic is in the aromas exuding from the kitchen. It conjures up memories of old time burger stands replete with the smells of beef on a flat-top, fryer oil, onions, mustard. Seriously, this place should be cloned. I used to come here any time I was in the area (I worked in Webster, TX at the time) Outstanding burgers! Excellent Onion Rings! Fantastic owners! Double Meat Double Cheese, Onion Rings and a soda. I no longer live in TX, but visit once a year. Rest assured I will make every effort to get over there. Until then, hats off to team Champ Burger!!! Bravo! read more

I'm a Swiss mushroom burger type of guy so that's my go to order when checking out burger joints. Scanned the reviews of Champ Burger and figured I'd give it a go. The line/wait was around 20 min but I was expecting that so it didn't faze me at all. The patty was nice, hand formed, juicy, with freshly sauteed mushrooms. The reason for the 3 stars was both the bun and the fries appeared to be your typical Sysco products and not homemade or locally sourced, freshly baked. With that said, I'll probably give them another try and I'll update my review at that time. edit: I went back and had the swiss mushroom burger again and it was better then when I originally had reviewed them I've upgraded my rating to a 4 from a 3 star. read more

Maybe not the tastiest burger in town but the atmosphere along with the simplicity of the food makes this place feel very homey. Great lunch deals, and fast service (except during lunch hours). Orders can be placed via phone, and they are now accepting credit cards. read more

Don't bother calling ahead. The phone ahead line is a joke. You will have to wait in line twice to get your food. Even with a 40 minute call ahead you will have an addition 20 to 25 minute wait. It is never ready on the first wait and ask at the walk up window, so you have to step back and wait while other people who are also standing around "second waiting" come up to check, get and pay for their food. Super slow for people who are trying to fit into a 30 minute lunch time. I would love to say that the hamburger was awesome and it was all worth it, but the meat had gristle in every third bite, 100% beef, yes, but cartilage is part of the beef. Honestly, if you are looking for an old fashioned hamburger with butter on a toasted bun, just go to Dairy Queen or Whataburger. read more
