April 27/2022: This was a superb dinner...full stop! Started with small sample of a Smoked Tomato Soup. Totally delicious. Followed up with a Charcuterie Board that consisted of 3-4 meats, 3-4 cheeses, 3-4 olives & 3-4 toppings. All we're delicious & totally delivered. My main was the Ponderosa Farms Wild Mushroom Linguine. With sun dried tomatoes. Again. Totally delicious. Our server looked like Drew Berrymore but much nicer. She was very polite & effective. A September 2020 review! Reopened 4 months after coronavirus pandemic with new manager, chef, cocktail program, no wooden bar and tvs hanging over your head, open clear dining. Sat outside on the patio on one of the hottest days of the year - heaven! Highlights included tuna crudo, broccolini, tomatoes with creamed goat cheese. main course was scallops with pork belly - pork belly was a religious experience - I'll let you find out for yourself! Great cocktails and wine pairings as well, perfect for the patio, and Im sure for colder weather indoors Friendly, informed, perfect service combined with great food and drinks make this easily the best place in Maple Ridge - and for miles around.

Had the "tasting menu" and wine pairing and it was fabulous. Can't wait to go again. Miles is helpful and friendly, Chef Gallagher is inspired.

I'd been wanting to try the Chameleon Cafe for a few months, after friends mentioned they had an awesome meal there. Finally was able to drag the boyfriend there on a Saturday afternoon! I started with a mocha because I needed a caffeine fix. It came out tasty but nowhere near hot. Hotter than lukewarm, but not by much. It was tasty though!...until I got to the last few sips and realized the bottom of the mug had a good 1/2 tsp of coffee/espresso grounds. Ugh. Not good. Stuck to water after that, which was delicious! Boyfriend got calamari and a cup of beef & vegetable soup. Commentary from him: "This is the first time I've ever been to a restaurant and NOT wanted to order one single thing on the menu." Hmmmmm I would have to agree with him a bit there. For the meals offered that were within standard lunch pricing for a smaller restaurant in the suburbs, the choices were minimal. Standard burgers and salads and appies. Nothing that screamed "EAT ME!!" There were also more expensive entrees available at $16+, but it was lunchtime. No heavy meals wanted. Bah well. He enjoyed his soup a lot and said the calamari was pretty good as well (though really, who can mess up calamari?). I ordered the ahi tuna salad (I think. Or maybe albacore tuna. It was definitely tuna!), which was pretty good. The tuna was rubbed down in a cajuny spice and was very tasty. Not sure about the salad though; mixed greens with peanuts, avocado and a very sour citrus dressing. I would never order it again, unless I could get the tuna only! Service was pretty good, and the restaurant itself is beautiful! Very cool mezzanine seating area that would be great for a smaller dinner party, etc. I've heard that their dinner meals are fantastic so I'm thinking we'll give the place another try in the evening sometime. We'll see!

This restaurant was disappointing in every aspect.. My boyfriend and I came here for the first time for Valentine's Day last night and had high hopes as Chameleon portrays themselves as an impressive "fine dining" restaurant online, but don't let yourselves get fooled by this. Insanely disappointing. THE SERVICE: First of all, as soon as we walk in, we are greeted by the worst customer service I have ever witnessed. The hostess was incredibly immature, it was shocking to see and instantly made me unhappy within the first few minutes of our experience here. Her method of greeting customers at the door was by asking "Who are you???" or "I don't know who you are" which may just be a failed attempt at some humour, however came off as disrespectful and completely unprofessional, especially for a place that is branded as a "fine dining" establishment. She would constantly exclaim her stresses while organizing seating for people. When a customers would enter, she would *literally* throw her hands up in the air, let out a loud sigh and express her disappointment out loud of how unhappy she is to be dealing with this. Her hand gestures, words and attitude towards hosting customers were unacceptable and childish to say the least. THE FOOD: After witnessing the nonsense of the hostess, we still had hope for the food to be good. However, once again, we are quite a bit let down as they have made a shortened Valentine's menu so we were unable to have the wider choice of options that we had seen online. Even though the choices weren't sounding so appealing, we took understanding that this was obviously done to make this busy day more manageable for their staff. We thought okay fine, not so big of a deal as long as they're putting out good food. To start, we chose the prawn appetizer, however they had run out of that dish so we settled for the lobster tartare. It was pretty okay and we didn't have a problem with it which added to our hopes for the entrees. I ordered the sockeye salmon with asparagus and rice and my boyfriend ordered chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes. Upon arrival my salmon dish looked nice, however had green beans instead of asparagus so that's another thing they ran out of. Some of my rice had hard parts in it and the salmon was dry and the entire dish lacked flavour. I would have had to force myself to finish the plate. My boyfriend's dish upon arrival, was disappointing even by appearance. The chicken looked boiled as well as unseasoned! It was shocking that this is what they had to bring out.. my boyfriend was unable to even eat much of the chicken at all as it had no flavour and had a slimy texture. We could've done a better cooking job of these meals at home! A fast food meal would have been more satisfying than this dining experience... I literally could not think of a worse way for my boyfriend to spend $100. It was also noticeable that the couple next to us was experiencing disappointments as well. They went through ordering 3-4 items which the server had to come back to notify that it was out of stock. I never post online reviews, but this place deserves one.

Expensive and overrated. OK service. I wouldn't recommend it. Good coffee though. The food is mediocre. Really poor effort on the cocktails.

I love their "sides" section of the menu where everything is $6.95. We ended up ordering a few sides to share along with their maple bacon Caesar. The Caesar itself was a bit too sweet for my liking, but it came with a hearty slice of bacon and pickled asparagus. Soup of the day (beef and barley) - FOUR STARS Hearty, flavourful soup - very delicious! Fries and gravy (extra $1.50 for gravy) - FIVE STARS There's something about that dark brown, powdered gravy that reminds me of my childhood. Loved these thick cut fries and definitely loved the gravy! Chicken strips - FOUR STARS It came with 4 pieces of crispy chicken tenders and a side of plum sauce. Chili cheese fries with pulled pork - FOUR STARS Portions were good for $6.95 each. We even had leftovers to take home with us. Service was friendly but really slowed down once we received our food. We had requested for water but our server forgot about it until the end of our meal. She was apologetic about it which was appreciated.
