Fun time shared with adults and kids! Devon gave clear instructions and was kind and patient with some of us that were first timers.

There are stairs to take to the second level on the outside. Once you get upstairs, there's two sets of doors and they are the set of black doors to the right which has a little doorbell button that will have VR on it. Ring the bell and the adventure will begin! Currently, they have just the one VR escape game called "Space, Magic, & Time" which was all developed in-house. Their goal is to make many VR escape games for physical escape room locations to add on as a supplement to their escape room choices. Since this is our second VR experience, we felt kind of hooked! They currently have 8 spaces but the max the design of the game currently is for 4 people to play together although they can run two games simultaneously. Each player gets their own VR box so there won't be any bumping into each other situation. Currently their VR headsets are connected to a wire but they will be wireless soon as the wire does tangle as you move around in the game but we didn't find untangling it much of a bother in our game. "Space, Magic, & Time" starts out in a mission control center where you'll be given your first assignment. Each assignment gets harder as it progresses. There's a good mixture of puzzle solving and physical aspects to the game. At one point, we felt like we were actually shooting a real bow and arrow as there was tension felt every time we pulled back. We didn't feel any motion sickness although if you have a fear of height, I think you can definitely practice conquering that in the VR world first. As we get introduced to the VR more now, we can definitely see a trend of where escape rooms might head to next, not replacing but definitely an add on, to the physical escape rooms. *For more info, check out my Yelp profile.

Sometimes there is a group already in the room, and while there is a comfortable waiting area, you do not want to hear what is going on or it will spoil your own game. So if the previous players are going over-time or you are extra early, it is best to wait downstairs in the Logos bookstore until it is your booking time. There were about 7 empty stalls in the parking lot when I arrived at 5:45pm for my 6pm event. Up the stairs is a little landing. You press the button that says "AVR" and it rings a bell to let you in. Gerard welcomed us, gave us safety tips, and made sure we had tons of fun! We all had a great time. I'm going back with my kids.

They have cute blue seals and a few brown reindeer to push Keiki along while you glide over the ice. The line is indeed very long to get your skates ie our entrance time was 7 pm, it's 8:10 pm and the kiddies are yet to get their skates and be on the ice. You must sign a waiver before stepping foot into the squarish shaped rink. Tonight was K/Pop theme nite from 6-8 pm... you know, Soda pop song and characters in costume. Christmas icons decked out in lights: reindeer, stars suspended from the ceiling and draped teal twinkling bulbs are strung like a circus tent chandelier. Okay it's 8:23 pm and a new group is on the ice. Some obviously have had practice before. A few vendors selling snacks and bracelets with what looks like The Polar Express movie projected on a screen against a back wall. It's quite stunning but I've seen even more wow on a massive scale off island.

The two kids that were working seemed almost bothered and uninterested in us and it was like everything was a chore -- from simply telling us about the waiver, to "welcoming" us, to introducing us to the room, to giving us clues, to "congratulating" us at the end. Everything seemed forced, like we made them wake up early or something, and they could barely crack a smile. At the end, we got a half hearted "come back soon." No thanks. I also played the room we had today before, and it seemed like they toned things down a bit and it was just meh. The first time I played this room we needed more than the 3 clues and barely made it out at the end. This time, we made it out in less than 30 mins lol. We're not THAT good. The room was mediocre, the staff is mediocre, and sadly this place has gone downhill. Go to the Ala Moana escape room if you want a great experience and a staff that makes you feel like they want your business.

I've done the Depths and Timeliner and they were both a ton of fun, especially since I was basically a different person for both experiences. For the Depths I went in with a close group of friends and their goal was as fast as possible, no hints, and the most intense about solving; while I on the other hand felt I would just be in the way so I stood happily to the side drinking my energy drink. Also, can you imagine trying to solve these things while inebriated? Wild. Timeliner was a different story considering I went in with my family whose goal was to solve it by any means necessary, so we took a few hints. But I felt like I had to contribute a little more and I had a little more room to breathe and contribute without being in anyone's way. This made me realize, I actually do love escape rooms! And it's not to say I didn't have fun in the Depths, I just gotta know where I stand LOL. Something I will say is that since I had an 11 month old, I knew that it just wouldn't make sense for me to pay to play, but I would be too worried about my baby to contribute or even enjoy it - so definitely get a baby sitter, especially if you feel that the kids won't really enjoy it. Although, I would bring my baby to GBGS (with earmuffs) which was the original plan but that got booked before we could book it.

Staff here were friendly, and also helpful in helping us with the escape during, especially since this was a family event with a younger kid, they probably felt bad for us, and we were not doing great overall, lol. Definitely exceeded that 3 hint limit! The room we did was the Y2K one, which was certainly a fun blast from the past room. For those who were 90s kids or fondly remember the 90s, this will definitely be your jam. The room itself was wide ranging of difficulty, while I wouldn't recommend for beginners, it's certainly got a good balance between difficult puzzles and easier ones. The room is also good for kids. Nothing jumpy with it that happens with this one, though, they might miss a lot of the references. But hey, if you're bringing your kids here you can tell them all about the things in there, "Back in my day...", and remind yourself how old you are! Anyways, don't want to say too much and give anything away. Have fun with the escape at Breakout Waikiki!

The customer service is what made this a 5 Star experience for me, the room and equipment was ready when we got there. So you could drop your party and food off then park across the street. The restrooms were clean. What we also liked was that we were able to plan our get together on the website. So, plan ahead for both your party and Kapolei Karaoke to make it a 5 Star experience. I do highly recommend Kapolei Karaoke and Escape Room for your next party or get together. We'll be back!
