Haven't been here since they had a mummy themed Halloween attraction about 3 years ago. I'm glad they're back and with a new theme each year. This years theme is the Mutant Massacre. This attraction was way better and I love the fact that all the proceeds go to the Kailua Onstage Arts Theatre. We parked a little bit down the street at the Safeway parking lot. The staff are still very friendly and funny when they're in role. My kids and I love horror and scary stuff so we enjoyed this attraction. read more

Purpose was to bring my 11-yr-old and 8-yr-old sons for a fun yet spooky Halloween experience and goal accomplished; they loved it! Quality Costumes, great presentation and awesome performances-- they were all great! Arrived 10 minutes early as advised to do by skeleton key hawaii. Staff didn't even come outside until past my appointment time to start setting up. Stood in line and waited 30 past my appointment time for the haunted house in the hot sun. Got sunburnt. Went into the haunted house, which was extremely dark and hard to navigate around. Lost one of the guides along the tour and wandered around in the dark for a little bit. While following another guide, a floating cow on a pulley landed on my head. CarnEvil of Screams was the most fun I have had at a haunted house!!! My mother has taken me to such attractions since I was just old enough. The venue was great for all weather, and the decorations were just creepy enough. All the actors were 200% committed to their roles the evening I went. I felt like I may have made a mistake risking my life at one point in that maze of horrors! And that's exactly what I paid for LOL . There was one place that several of us got lost and a little stuck in the strobe lights. But the workers turned us around as a psycho led us to what we thought was safety. My friends and I went to the 2018 event "CarnEVIL of SCreams" last night (October 13th) and had a really great time! We decided to buy the general admission since the line in front of us only had about 10 people. A spooky clown guy talked to most groups as well as the head lady/man at the head of the line. They helped to pass the time (maybe 15 min wait) and raise the anxiety. We entered with no expectations and were continually surprised to find things we thought were not real, were real people. We screamed and cowered nearly the entire way! My one friend was freaked the majority of the time, and my other friend and I were pleasantly, repeatedly surprised. Yes, it was fast and furious, but we so appreciated their costumes, their timing, and how much energy they put into organizing and acting that we were super happy we went to experience their production! This was my first haunted house in almost 2 decades. I made it a point to bring each of my kids to something really scary when they were old enough. This was my 13 year old daughter's turn and let me just say, this child is Fearless. This makes it a tall order to live up to and I needed reinforcements : another friend my daughter's age, to deflect from my whimpering, and another friend my age, to temper my trembling. I've noticed a trend in using very scary clowns the past couple years (Thanks Stephen King), but this venue was based on the theme "Carnival of Screams" so THIS is where you would expect to find them. And for people who like scary clowns (like my daughter) they did NOT disappoint. I was thankful we could buy our tickets online, so that was already a plus. Next, we waited in a very short line, and a fiendish looking man in a top hat, and another character started working the crowd, walking up and down and getting the goosebumps and chicken skin riled up for the impending scare. It was very LOUD, so we were really thankful they told us ahead of time, so we could bring ear plugs. This is also really helpful for those of us who are scared easily: if they are whispering something horrific, we can't hear them. There were twists and turns, and great decor that really gave a great Carnival vibe. A two-headed, creepy, siamese twin ladies greeted us, and as we get turned around, we are told to follow a terrifying clown in order to get out. "No thanks. I'll just die here in my puddle of shame". We had a wonderful time, and it re-invigorated my sense of exhilaration in the harmless kind of terror that Halloween season brings. read more

One of the scariest haunted houses I've been in in a long time. A group of friends and I went to Kailua to check it out, after seeing Jorge Garcia from Hawaii Five-0 on the news. From the moment we stood in line, we were engrossed in the experience. Mummies walk the line just to creep us out. (Oh and Jorge Garcia was just there, helping people in line, and hanging out for pictures and talk story. It was pretty cool that he was so down to earth.) Walking through the doors, our haunted house experience began with intricately detailed ornaments and decorations. That continues throughout the entire haunted house. Every room has a lot to see. I actually had to go through twice, to see it all. Mostly because I ran through the first time. It was pretty terrifying. The characters make this scene. Getting chased down a hallway by a mummy is frightening. Everything about this haunted house is well done. The actors are great. The decorations are really well done, and the theme is nothing like I've seen before. We went through twice, and if you get scared as easily as I do, I recommend you do the same. read more

Halloween is my fav. I love going to every possible HH I possibly can. I lived in LA for 6 years so my standards a pretty high when it comes to this stufff. I screamed the whole way through!!! Can't say I have ever done that before. The walk thru seemed a little fast but maybe because I was running. Lol. I wish it was longer but I would definitely do it again. I've been in Hawaii for 3 years and this by far was the scariest HH. Great job guys!!! Omg so fun. These pics are from outside the HH. We waited 15 minutes max, parked out front. Yes we were Lucky!! This is my first haunted house so I didn't really have high expectations. After I already bought my ticket I heard it was only 6 minutes long ( I think it was actually 12 minutes total). The reason I went to this one and not the one in Waipahu is because skeleton key let you buy tickets online ahead of time. But I heard the Waipahu one is way more scarier and about 20 minutes long. We still had a lot of fun and I was scared because even The Wizard of Oz disturbs me. We saw Jorge Garcia but didn't go talk to him. The nice thing about this haunted house is there is a bar next door where people pre and post-gamed. Then we went to another bar nearby for dinner. If we had gone to Waipahu I think there would be less options nearby. read more

Terrible value. Bought 11 tickets at group rate which cost me $154. Waited 2:45 hours for 2-3 min walk through. It is marketed as is a high-end haunted house like expensive resorts Like Disneyland but does not deliver it all. Will never get that 3 hours back. What a waste. Feel ripped off. read more

Save your money!!!! We waited 2 hours for a 3 min walk in the haunted house. Props and theme were great, however we walked away feeling like we got scammed. I know this is hawaii and space is limited but this space was the size of a large closet. I'm thinking most people who gave this place a good review are "LOST fans"of Jorge Garcia. read more

Horribly long 2 hour wait in the line diminished the experience. As a group of 24 we arrived at 6:45 pm on Saturday, 10/21/17 for the 7pm start time for the over 12 yr old experience. Our tickets were purchased in advance online which tacked on an additional cost of almost 3 bucks to each ticket which pretty much negated the group discount. Upon arrival, there were a few groups of keiki sporadically emerging from the place. There were probably 50 people lined up in the general admission line and about 30 folks in the fast pass line. They did not start taking ticket holders until about 7:15pm, and at that point, only took 4 people at a time, mostly from the fast pass line. We did not move at all in our line for about an hour. There were breaks of about 7-10 minutes between groups allowed in. The fast pass line moved much faster though it was still quite slow in both lines. Around 8:30 pm they stopped letting people in altogether to give the actors in the haunted house a 10-15 min break. Then it started moving again and they increased the group size to around 6 people at a time. We divided our group into 4 smaller groups and finally got in about 9pm. The experience nice itself was okay. The props and costumes were very very good. It was not gory at all and my 8 year old kid was fine throughout. It took about 10 min to get through, of which the first 5 minutes were being held in a lighted room which had artifacts and things to look at while waiting. I think I screamed about 2 times and others in the group were startled about 8-10 times throughout. Upon emerging there was still a significant line of folks waiting to get in. The experience had a lot of staff inside and outside and a couple of mummy skeletons wandering around outside to entertain the people waiting. Please keep in mind there is no restroom available on site and no food, backpacks or other large bags allowed inside. I do not recall any strobe flashing lights inside and there were no interactive things we had to do. Overall it wasn't bad but the long wait kind of ruined the experience as we were getting tired, bored, hungry and thirsty while waiting for 2 hours to get through. It also felt like they were rushing the groups through after the break as the line was moving a lot faster. My suggestion is to not buy online but show up early and buy at the door. There is a canopy tent set up to pay or show your online purchase to get your wristbands for entry. They punch a hole in the wristband so be sure to put it on slightly loose. Also wear comfortable shoes for enduring the wait. Parking was good at nearby shopping centers and on the street. I hate giving this a two star, b/c the costumes were cool and actors nice, it was just SUPER short.....like 3 mins to get through. Not worth $15 + fees. A short experience would actually be 'ok', but the price needs to be about $5. So, as long as you know that up front, go for it. For $15 a person, you could bowl 3 games, go to the rock climbing place or have a nice dinner. The kids liked the Keiki night...trick-or-treat was a nice add. However, I was hoping they would try to lightly scare the kids..at least the older ones. Not very haunted for my kid. read more

Fun fun fun... it's been years since I went in a Haunted House but some friends and I went on Friday night and after a short wait.. (okay we splurged for fast lane... ) went in and began our wild journey through scary tableaux on the darkness alive with the dead ... I think we all agreed that the pre-show experience taking pictures and interacting with the mummies was a great set up for what was to come. Everyone seemed to come out simultaneously screaming and laughing and I know we had a great time, specially seeing Jorge Garcia who designed the house and some of Hawaii's great character actors letting loose. This was a really tremendous haunt. It is clear that the owners put in a lot of time and effort hand-crafting all of these props and making the best use of space and effects. The vintage video at the beginning, the old photos, and the other harrowing props really place you in context and get you into the narrative. If you aren't screaming the entire time, pay attention to the incredible details; it is what sets this haunt apart from so many others. The actors are also great, and there are some cool surprises that I won't divulge here. I also heard that props and other elements have changed during the run, so your experience might be different if you go again. Pretty cool that the owners continue to change it up to provide a different experience. Overall, it is a top quality, professional haunt that is hard to find on island. I would definitely go again. Parking across the street is plentiful, and there are some great bars nearby for an after-scare beverage. read more
