When i was asked to go I thought nah because they're not very scary. When I saw the Facebook page and saw how well the costumes were I thought maybe it can still be a good adventure. I have to say this was a good scare. The costumes, props and effects were spot on. Many places are super dark like you can't see your hand 5 inches from your face. I had to take creepy small steps just to feel my way and get through this. Actors were professionally made up. it was difficult to tell if it was a dummy or not. I'm not one to scare easy but this place got me to jump twice. They have learned well how to guide people to the positions where they want them to be to get a good scare. And then when you think it's over, it's just like the in the movies. It ain't. hahahahha Some food trucks are set up in the parking lot so you can grab a bite to eat. Parking is across the street at West Marines. They have security there too for the safety of your vehicle. $15 will get you in but we decided to get the $20 Fast Pass to bypass the line. 2016 Edition! I first found out about the Nightmares Live haunted attraction a few years ago at Dole Cannery, and I had a blast! Fast forward to the present, and Nightmares Live is still going, but in a new location next to Flora-Dec on Nimitz, and they're even better than before! The quality of their scenes is top notch, and their actors did a great job throught the attraction. You can tell that the layout of the whole attraction is well thought out, and the scare plan was executed perfectly. It also helps when you have a couple screamers in your group to set the mood. They've also got some food vendors on premise, and parking is available at West Marine right across the entrance to Flora-Dec. Nightmares Live is going to be open every night for the week leading up to Halloween, so be sure to check them out before they're gone for another year! read more

I've been hounded...um, asked to write a review since I've been raving about Nightmares Live for a week. Like one of the previous reviewers, I've been to the Goretorium in Las Vegas and paid $40 at the door for a 15-20 minute walk through. They Say that Eli Roth spent $10 million on his attraction. I don't know how much was spent on Nightmares Live, but the props are the same quality and the maze is not much shorter than the Goretorium (if at all). I sort of feel ripped off paying $40, now. Well, you have to experience walking through a Hollywood set at least once in your lifetime so you can compare it to others. :P So saying, Nightmares Live is one of the the best horror venues I've been to (Vegas, Niagara, San Diego, Honolulu and Waipahu). Vegas (haunted hotel) was excellent and N.L. is up there with it. Niagara was different (a dark maze with guys with nightvision goggles stalking you). San Diego wasn't bad (another haunted hotel). Scream 808 in Kakaako advertises "Take your kids...", that says it all (anyone taking young kids to Nightmares Live should be bitch-slapped). But, Waipahu was a joke. My elementary school had a spookier haunted refrigerator box maze! I would have wasted 3 hours of my life that I would never have gotten back if I hadn't had my eReader with me. But wait, we're reviewing Nightmares Live, not the "Haunted" Plantation. If you are afraid of clowns, you'd better bring Depends (what's wrong with clowns, anyway?). These clowns bear fangs and weapons and are covered in gore. Okay, so that makes them scary. There's also psycho Santa (is it just men in costumes that freak people out?) and his helpers (they hold people down for Santa, I guess). The severed body parts and shredded intestines look pretty real until you get up close and poke at them. But that was the same at the Goretorium and those are real Hollywood props. The whimpering couple, who started out cringing in front of us, ended up cowering behind us as we made our way through the maze. The clowns kept us guessing where they would pop out from. Ryo, as Kate hinted, if you know there's a pop out around EVERY corner, it's not so exciting because you expect it. DUH! Waipahu, get a clue! After the 50th GRRRRRH in 10 minutes, not so exciting, anymore. 15 minutes of that sh..t and it feels like 50 boring years. Get some props people! zzzzzzzzzzz. (falling off the soap box) And now back to N.L.: So if you enjoy TransWorld quality props (you Haunted House Fans know what this is), Nightmares Live is the best Haunted attraction this island has to offer at the best price. My first time in going to a "haunted" house. Luckily we went as a group through this haunted maze. Before entering, I spoke with the crew members outside. They told us that the actors were not allowed to touch us. Nor can we touch them. Which is good since you hear the people screaming! During our walk, the whole venue looked like a creepy museum. I noticed from the corner of my eye, the first part, a Victorian zombie started to follow us. You can see the neck collar dress and the crazy curly wig. The silhouette does not make it easier. Then on the second half, in the clown section, a large court jester followed us. It makes it more creepier since we cannot see his face. Near the end, a murder in black with a chain saw chased us out! I loved seeing other people run quickly away from the spot! The props were very well made. My compliments to the artists involved in this project! I enjoyed coming here for Halloween. Come with a group of friends! read more

Really scary Haunted House! New stuff every year! Great themes! Really creative. The have the most up to date masks, props and more. Last year they had a Haunted Christmas section. Doesn't sound creepy but when you are listening to Silent Night and walk into a room with dead hanging bodies and a scary goblin Santa chasing you you wanna poop yourself. This year's theme is NightMare Circus. All of the folks that are scared of clowns are in for a treat! LOTS OF FREE PARKING! Halloween is drawing near! My fiancé and I headed here to check out this attraction. I'm a screamer and jump at any little thing. Located at Flor-a-dec and parking is at West Marine. Free parking!! We got the fast pass and away we went! The props were great and very detailed and I screamed and closed my eyes holding my fiancé tight as possible. Totally recommend you come and go with a group of people. It adds to the fun and scare. We went right as they open so it wasn't busy. read more

The midnight train ride was a big mistake. Not worth the $8 for a 20 min ride with a voice recording of Lopaka and a group of FOB from the Philippines talking so loudly and trying to scream and scare the other riders. So rude and obnoxious ANGRY FACE!!!! Disappointing and annoying at the same time. No actors or anything that came out of nowhere to scare you. The stories weren't that scary or frightening to listen to. There were more people waiting to get into the haunted house than the train ride. You can tell it was a flop. The morale of the review is research and ask around what is the best attraction or event to attend on Halloween so you can save your money for something better and leave with a smile rather than a frown on your face. This was my first haunted house event in a long time, the reason is because I hate anything scary!!! I went because I promised my coworkers I would go along with them. The first person we met was a guy named Eddie. He was super helpful and even offered to escort us into the jointed attraction for moral support, I thought that was super great of him to even offer, but of courses we declined his offer. The actual haunted house thing was about 10 minutes long four our group as we had a small forum of 6, and we weren't being held back to much in each room. We were told some groups take up to 25 minutes because they just freeze in place and etc. etc. Bottom line it was worth the $15, because of the actual attraction was good in my opinion, and the customer service provided by Eddie was crazy good. He even waited for us to finish at the exit and asked us how it was, did anyone of the actors scary us or touch us to much etc... Hands down great experience and I honestly wouldn't go back, but I would recommend this place for people to try!!! Small note we went at 7pm when they opened parking was easy and free with security in the lot and plenty workers guiding you where to go! And it wasn't crowded at that time!!!! read more

Unfortunately this year, Nightmares was a HUGE disappointment. At $13 per attraction it certainly wasn't a cost friendly excursion. PICK UP COUPONS AT TIMES SUPERMARKET BEFORE GOING, and make sure to pick up a coupon for as many of the attractions you're seeing. (So 3 people seeing all 3 attractions should grab 9 coupons.) Ticket line wait time was almost an hour. Trail of Terror: Not scary and very frustrating. You get lost a lot in the maze and the "monsters" have to break character to point you in the correct direction. NO strollers on this one AND it's gravel so you can trip easily. Wait time: 45min - 1hour Nightmare Express: A LONG wait for a very uneventful train ride. One of the big spoilers is that there is a "conductor" announcing when the scares are coming, and there are not too many scares on ride. The "conductor" narrates the ride with a "legend" that, as a person born and raised on this island, was not very good. The vernacular used to tell this "legend" needs a lot of work as he preface EVERY scary thing he said with "rumor has it". The 5 year old in back of me even commented "that wasn't scary at all". This was by far the most disappointing attraction of the night. Wait time: 1 hour (each train ride is 20 min with an additional 15 min for boarding and deboarding. There is only one train, so limited seating) The 13 Haunted House: All of the same props from the years before, but BY FAR the best attraction. We were the "last party of the night" which meant we had a "guide" following us to let the characters know we were the last. Totally not awesome as it broke the mood for being scared. Wait time: None (again, we were the last party) We got to the attraction AT 7pm and didn't leave till after 11pm. If you know the date you're going and don't mind shelling out the extra $$ (it's $13 per attraction PLUS an additional $1.50) BUY your tickets ahead of time online. They have a separate booth for prepaid tickets so it'll save time on a busy night. Needless to say, it was VERY disappointing compared last year. The ticket set up was a little confusing and there aren't many workers to give information. DON'T be fooled by the other "ticket booth" at the start of the Trail of Terror if you get there early and people are lined up there, there is only ONE booth you can buy tickets from. This year is VERY child friendly, with MAYBE the exception of the haunted house. So, if you're looking to be terrified, this attraction in general is not your best bet. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! It's just a money SUCKER!!!! You pay 13 bucks for each event and they herd you like cattle. The workers not helpful or friendly. Walking through the Haunted House was like visiting a museum, all we did was look at props. there was maybe 3 actors that barely attempted to "scare" you. Train ride was nothing special. OHHHHH.......and the wait,....... that's all we did all night!! Wait and wait and wait and wait and wait in lines, with no other entertainment to occupy your time. We went early at 3:30pm and didn't get out of there till after 11pm. I could go on and on about the waste of time and money this place was but i think you get the picture. Alright, so I'm from the Midwest and I don't want to sound like an elitist snob, BUT this "haunted" attraction was A JOKE AT BEST. Featured on the travel channel? as what? what to avoid? I've been to my fair share of haunted houses *dream reapers, reapers realm, Statesville haunted prison, 11th hour, dungeon of doom, basement of the dead, and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head.* on numerous occasions. I arrived at 7:40, 40 minutes after opening and proceeded to wait in line till about 8:10 to purchase tickets, not so bad all things considered for the weekend before Halloween so at this point In the game I was feeling great. on to the three events. Train ride of "Terror" - so the train ride takes 22 minutes each load up, so your basically waiting 30 minutes a ride, so it takes me about 2 hours to get to the front of the line. So, the train ride of terror consisted of some guy telling a subpar ghost story in the dark for 85% of the time having "our minds do the work" as he put it. which is fine for something I DID NOT WAIT 2 HOURS FOR. the other 15% of the time consisted of 4 guys running at us in what looked to be gorilla suits, but couldn't properly be seen because it's pitch black. oh and they blew the budget on some 4th of July fireworks, because that was the only thing people actually screamed at. -1 / 5 skulls. Next event- Haunted house. All things considered this haunted house was nothing horrible, it was just obscenely short, like 10 minutes for 13 dollars, the props were cool, a few actors jumped out and scared the crap out of the group of girls ahead of me, which was good for laughs. All in all, nothing horrible, nothing great. 3 / 5 skulls and finally The Trail of Terror... The maze was h-o-r-r-I-b-l-e *yes, that was necessary*. there was 3 actors in total, the first guy in an alien mask, clapped at me in rapid succession in an effort to bewilder and confuse me, it worked and I laughed. the other two were somewhere in the center, and they shook half empty cans of beans at me. ...No props, no ambiance music, nothing just these 3 actors OH and the mandatory guy at the end of the maze with a chainsaw. 0/5 skulls All in all I will never go back to this event, ever. I understand the actors did their best probably with what they had, but man...they really need to work on this event for it be even halfway worthwhile. read more

My husband's birthday was on Friday, and we go to Max's Restaurant to celebrate every year. During dinner we saw a big crowd next door so we asked the waiter what was going on. He told us it is a haunted house! This being the middle of October and we are in the Halloween spirit, we decided to check it out. I don't really like haunted houses but my husband loves them. Me being a chicken I asked the worker to let us in with another family but they said smaller groups get better scares. I screamed a lot! We were really impressed with the costumes and props they had. The actors scared the **** out of us. We had a blast. The maze is pretty long and at times it gets totally dark in there. I would definitely recommended this to anyone looking to get scared. read more

I enjoyed Nightmares Live so much, I went twice!!! I even paid the extra to skip the long line the second time!!! This is the best haunted house on the island, so far. I tried the others and was disappointed by the lack of quality props. It's not scary if it looks fake! Some of the manikins looked real (and some WERE real as we found when they jumped out at us:). I'm glad that there weren't scaracters in every room because too many actors deadens the senses (like at the Haunted Plantation - I actually got bored after the 50th person dressed as the Ring Girl jumped out at me - yawn). The props can campare to the Eli Roth Goretorium in Vegas. $13 for a maze this long is a bargain! I paid $40 at the door in Vegas to get a similar experience!!! I should have just gone through Nightmares a few more times instead! :P As I write this, my friend is texting me to go tomorrow. Hell, yes! read more

They at Dole Plantation in Wahiawa now with 3 attractions. The train was one 20 min ride through the plantation fields at night. Was ok but to dark for see anything or anybody. The maze was junk. They playing radio, the scarers was just walking around and it's only a small part of the maze not the whole thing. The Haunted House/Tent was the best. They get lots for see in the different rooms, the scarers are real good, and the line is short. The clown room was the best. Clowns no scare me but they had me jumping and my wife screaming. They was pro. Wasn't to bad when we went friday night but I would only spend money on the haunted house and maybe the train. read more

This is my first haunted house experience and it was more fun than I expected. Something you should know about me is that I was one of the most reluctant people that was asked to go to a haunted attraction. My friends had a very difficult time convincing me to go as I am petrified of scary things. You would not find me within a mile of a scary event, or at least that's what I thought. Surprisingly, Nightmares Live was more fun than I expected. Well worth the money. The first thing I learned about this attraction, is that I was once again not prepared for the line ups.... I should've brought my DS or snacks for the lineups. For next year, I will definitely bring something to do or something eat while lining up. The first attraction we went to is the haunted maze ($13) . This was the scariest attraction for me, because I didn't know where the actors were going to pop out from! I was paranoid the whole way through! I was tugging and hiding in between my friends who were also screaming their heads off. The freakest thing was the actor who came up to us and shoved her face right infront of mine. Holy that surprised me! I tried very hard to remind myself that they are just people in costumes! The next attraction we went to was the haunted house ($13)! This attraction made my night! our group was split up into 2 groups as only 3-4 people were allowed per group. So 4 of our friends went in first, then the remainder of us went in a few minutes after. Oh boy I was so paranoid! there were curtains draping over each door; that made it even creepier. Every so often we would hear screams from other rooms. My group managed to catch up to the rest of our friends. Surprisingly, we didn't meet any scary person until we caught up to the other groups. Once we caught up to our friend, I couldnt stop laughing!! omg! my friend was so hysterical that I thought I was going to pee my pants from laughter! And here I thought I was going to pee my pants from fear. lol!! Thinking back to this experience always make my day! After the haunted house, we went to line up for Nightmare Express ($13) --- the haunted train ride. The line was long......again I wish I brought some entertainment! Luckily there was a magician walking around providing some form of entertainment to the people in the line. I was very amused with the magician because his magic tricks were pretty awesome. After waiting for a little over an hour, we boarded the train. It was raining so we had to put the side covers on (thank goodness because I was freaked out about this ride!). The creepy half burnt face dude was at the front of the train telling us that "beings" were going to climb aboard and sit with us on the train and what not. I was expecting that! The train took us around the plantation area and actors were running along the side the train trying to scare the passengers. Some people were screaming out of fear, others were screaming for the heck of it, and I was just sitting there trying to keep warm (yes, another thing I learned about this experience --- always bring a sweater). Although the actors were not scary, I did find myself a little creeped out because the plantation field had a very different feel to it compared to the other parts of Dole. I was keeping my head down to make sure I don't see anything I didn't want to see. Overall I am glad I sucked it up and went with my friends to experience a haunted house attraction. I can now confidently say I am excited and ready for the next one! OTHER NOTES: Parking: There was plenty of parking when I went. Food: Food is available for purchase there. I would bring cash just in case the vendors don't take plastic. My friends and I went to Lobster King afterwards as none of the food was very appealing during the time. This is my third year experiencing Nightmares Live haunted house and I have to say it's probably the best haunted house on the entire island of Oahu and gets better every year! I love haunted houses and I'm somewhat of a connoisseur...went to 4 of them last year on the island of Oahu. :-) You can now I'll buy your tickets online, and then walked right up to the ticket booth to get them. No need to wait in a long line out front. So glad we bought the tickets online first! This year we tried the haunted house and the haunted maze. The Maze is outside and is very dark and there are no lights unless you bring a flashlight or use your cell phone. The haunted house was awesome and had all of the great elements you would expect. We did not do the train this year but it looked fun. Also there were several stations serving food and beverages which was a nice addition. I recommend getting there when they open right at 7 p.m. If you go at night on a Saturday night because there are crowds. All in all a great experience and I'm looking forward to doing this again next year! read more

Super late review. I LOVE haunted houses, so Nightmares Live was a must-do for me. Prior to going, we actually picked up coupons at Times Supermarket ($3 off each activity, per coupon), but we ended up not using them. My friend warned me that the line was crazy and we were better off buying them online. If you plan on going next year, it is probably a good idea, but overall I thought the attractions were not worth it. It was $13 per attraction, with an additional processing fee online. I spent about $60 for me and my husband, for two attractions. When we showed up, we still had to go to the ticket office (a separate line from those that did not pre-purchase), to pick up the actual tickets. We did the Trail of Terror and haunted house. The trail had a decent wait, about 30 minutes, which was probably because they tried to give some distance between each of the groups to maximize shock chances for the actors. They cut off a VERY small portion of the Dole maze for it, and roped off all the paths they did not want you venturing into. Sadly, even though the activity was in the dark, you can pretty much tell where the actors are hiding. And we did end up catching up with the groups ahead of us, so we probably lost a lot of scare value. As other yelpers have mentioned, the actors did break out of their roles to point us in the right direction. I think this kind of defeats the whole point of a maze... The haunted house was better. It was a very small temporary set-up tent that they managed to get a lot of stuff in. Certain parts were actually kind of creepy. However, the activity was still super short. I feel that $10 or less would have been more justified. I'm glad to have done Nightmares Live, just to see for myself what it was like, but I will probably save my money next year. read more

Descent haunted house. One of the better ones in the island. They were slow the night we went and allowed us to go through twice. If you like to be scared don't go through in a big group. I enjoyed it so much, from the variety of themes inside the attraction itself to the suspense you get from walking and expecting jumpscares! This has to be one of the most disorganized attractions I have ever been to. There was almost no parking available, a ridiculously long line, no one who worked there was to be seen for the first hour, and when you got closer to the front, it was even more chaotic. Incidentally, the first employee we saw (after waiting in line for the first hour) informed everyone that the train was already sold out -- although we had gotten there at 7 pm when the first train was scheduled! That was why we went there in the first place. After spending that long, we decided to stay and check out the maze. The wait to get into the haunted maze was 2 hours and 20 minutes! And once inside, it wasn't very scary. The actual trip through the maze was 12 minutes. Not quite sure how these could be the same folks who were at Dole Cannery last year, as it seemed like an entirely different experience. Don't waste your time and money. Possibly the haunted house was better but the maze was a huge disappointment and the wait time and the lack of staff or signs made it even worse. read more

This haunted house was hauntingly scary! The combination of the scary monsters and the overall decorations of the space was absolutely stunning and added just the right amount of creepiness to it all. The vibe of the entire place was great as well: good food being served, the screams from the inside of the tent, the anxiousness of the people waiting in line, everything was just great. Nightmares Live was awesome! It had amazing actors that made the whole thing seem so realistic- you couldn't tell if it was a prop or a person at some points. The haunted house had so many different elements to it that added new fear around every turn. While the haunted house was full of sudden fright, the train ride had a slow eerie edge to it that left me thinking all night. Both of them were very good and there was great food for sale afterwards, nothing better to ease your fear than some fantastic food :) read more
