Crossing Waipahu St was like being in a live Frogger game; only later did the police show up to direct/stop traffic for pedestrians, which was very much appreciated. I don't want to be a real live ghost at the corner after being squashed by a speeding motorist. PRICE: $21.00 cash only. You have reserve your time slot online, then go in person and pay up the cash. Stand in the line that leads up to the metal cubicle that opens up to magically reveal a table that will take all your money. ATM on premises. TOILETS: Port-a-potties. Dark too. Don't drop your phone into the abyss. DRINKS and THINGS: It was really hot in October. We ended up buying bottled water for $2 at the "snack cubicle" - another metal cube that had water, juice, candies for sale as well as those glow stick necklaces that light up and make you an easy target in the dark for the actors to scare. PHOTOS: No photography or video recording inside the HP. They are serious. If you get caught they will escort you off property. ATTRACTION: you wait in line at the entrance of the tunnel that leads you to the many cute plantation homes, the paths are lit with those mini candles on the ground. If you're lucky you're going on OCT 28, 203 SATURDAY on a full moon, so you can see better. Each home has a bunch of scare actors that dart across you, come up to your face, skittle on the floor, jump out from behind doors and corners, slam and pound the floor and boards. WEAR SHOES. One of the actors meant to slam the floor with his foot only to stomp on my husband's (protected) foot. Scared people may back into you and step onto your feet as well. If you're easily spooked, you'll get a lovely thrill and scream your head off. My son didn't scream once, but he's not easily scared. My husband screamed once. I screamed the whole way. I wish there was more scenery other than dark dimly lit rooms. There was only one memorable one, a barber-shop that had some light in them. If the owners of 17A are reading this, let me come do the mood lighting for future haunted plantations, I can make the houses a LOT scarier with blue, green, purple, red or orange lighting or a combo. I do my own haunted scenes at home and use theatrical lighting to make things pop. TIPS: Take cash, pee/poo at home, wear covered shoes, drink cold water in your car before walking over, wear diaper. RETURN FACTOR: Only if my vocal cords can handle it.

Ample parking in Ward theater parking lot. There is no specific time reserved so you need to go there early and check in. Once checked in you will get a text message when its your groups turn to go. We waited about 30 min to check in then another 1.5 hours from check in to getting inside. The time spent inside the haunted house was about 20 min. Overall the actors and the set up was good but the wait was pretty long it would have been better and more efficient with set times to reserve.

Fast forward to the present, and Nightmares Live is still going, but in a new location next to Flora-Dec on Nimitz, and they're even better than before! The quality of their scenes is top notch, and their actors did a great job throught the attraction. You can tell that the layout of the whole attraction is well thought out, and the scare plan was executed perfectly. It also helps when you have a couple screamers in your group to set the mood. They've also got some food vendors on premise, and parking is available at West Marine right across the entrance to Flora-Dec. Nightmares Live is going to be open every night for the week leading up to Halloween, so be sure to check them out before they're gone for another year!

I have to say this was a good scare. The costumes, props and effects were spot on. Many places are super dark like you can't see your hand 5 inches from your face. I had to take creepy small steps just to feel my way and get through this. Actors were professionally made up. it was difficult to tell if it was a dummy or not. I'm not one to scare easy but this place got me to jump twice. They have learned well how to guide people to the positions where they want them to be to get a good scare. And then when you think it's over, it's just like the in the movies. It ain't. hahahahha Some food trucks are set up in the parking lot so you can grab a bite to eat. Parking is across the street at West Marines. They have security there too for the safety of your vehicle. $15 will get you in but we decided to get the $20 Fast Pass to bypass the line. This attraction was way better and I love the fact that all the proceeds go to the Kailua Onstage Arts Theatre. We parked a little bit down the street at the Safeway parking lot. The staff are still very friendly and funny when they're in role. My kids and I love horror and scary stuff so we enjoyed this attraction.

I have gone to this one for the last three years. It seems every year there are less and less…read moreprops and money put into it. Rooms look very empty. Only decorations are trash bags and small kine stuff. It doesn't seem like they really try very hard. They just think making it super dark and having lots of strobe lights will hide the lack of decorations and effort. We waiting for 30 minutes to get in...and we were the only ones in line. It was a Monday night and no one was there! Why did we have to wait? The staff seemed rude and more concerned with socialzing with each other than the customers. I'm glad I didn't pay full price. Hello Groupon. Lastly....it was hard to find. It's on the backside of a building around back. There is NO parking. There was a sign saying free parking at Restaurant Row. Folks that's a walk... AND last time I checked restaurant row was not free. They didn't ask if we needed validation, so I assume they don't do it. They got two stars rather than only one because I liked their theme. I also liked their signs.

Walked over to Kapiolani park, then the tennis courts. Lopaka told us stories throughout the entire tour. You do get to participate, I don't want to give too much away. You'll walk away with memories and stories to share. There is walking involved on this tour. Bring a jacket. Park at Waikiki Shell or the metered parking between the bandstand and the tennis courts (Kalākaua Ave). I can't wait to go on the next tour!
