    Chips salsa

Place was surprisingly packed on a weekday at 4pm, so service was a bit slow but not unreasonably so. They were very friendly too! The inside is bustling and in a small space but has a lot of windows to look out at the surrounding rock landscape. The free salsa was very fresh and nice. Got the burrito and huevos rancheros. The burrito was good and filling. I'd say the huevos rancheros was the better dish of the two

Cuter inside than out! Quickly sat and served which was nice. Chips and salsa not the best but the food was pretty good. Maybe just needed some hot sauce for the salsa.

Steak and chicken fajita - delicious!

Don't let the rustic exterior fool you! If you enjoy Mexican food (or even if you don't), this is a must try. Quaint, yet authentic... friendly service, large portions, and a delicious meal awaits.

This place is nothing fancy. Our server was attentive. They served free chips & salsa, that were good. They have a very impressive menu! Octopus tacos, tuna tacos and much more. I had the enmoladas (3 tortillas with chicken& cheese with mole sauce) that were very tasty! My husband had the flautas with pork in green sauce. They were delicious! They also had a nice selection of drinks. Our food was very reasonably priced.

I was staying one town over for a night but there were only 2 restaurant options so I ventured back into Torrey and chose Chak Balam based on high reviews. You wouldn't even know it's a restaurant from the outside, looks closer to an abandoned bungalow in a grimey lot at first glance, but the interior decor is homey and festive. Ordering was such a pain. I just wanted chicken mole with double rice since I didn't want refried beans and they didn't have black beans, but somehow that took 8 minutes to get my order in properly. Luckily I realized I was being over-charged for an extra side of rice before I paid. There was also some bogus take-out fee they tacked on. The food was ready fairly quickly, it looked good, smelled good, and tasted fresh with plenty of flavor. It's pricey but the portion is probably enough for most to stretch into a next-day lunch with leftovers. The chicken was fork tender and the mole was rich while not overly spicy. I'd return for the food, but not if I was in a hurry because placing a simple order is unnecessarily difficult. Keep an eye out for undisclosed fees too.

Food was good and atmosphere was fun with the Halloween decorations! I had gotten the battered fish tacos where the menu said it came with a creamy chipotle homemade sauce which you can tell by the pictures, it did not come with that. I was pretty disappointed since that's why I wanted to order that. Without the sauce, the battered fish tacos were so dry. It was literally fish, tortilla, onions, and cilantro. The birria taco was a redeeming factor.

Queso tacos and the chimichangas were bomb. The salsa also has a nice kick to it.

Food was excellent. They offer a great variety of food at a solid value. The food was authentic, but they are able to cater to people with dietary restrictions. Great atmosphere. The orchata is hella good, just make sure you like cinnamon and it's pretty thick. If you are craving Mexican food you can go wrong here.

We've been here twice and both times in the off season but it was still packed. We love the traditional decorations on the wall. They made for great topic of conversation while we waited for the food. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was mostly good. Very good carne asada and carnitas. The refried beans were nothing special but good. The only thing that was really bad was the rice. They must have cooked at high temperature because it was mushy on the outside and chalky in the center. We like going to Torrey and this a good place to have a nice meal.

Staying in Bicknell after visiting Capitol Reef National park and needed a place to eat dinner…read more This place had lots of positive reviews so this was our choice. Wow! Reviews didn't lie! It's located in Torrey- you can spot the gravel parking lot with lots of cars in front. In fact we actually didn't see the restaurant because there were 2 rows of cars parked in front-a good sign! The menu was varied- from pizza ( more about that later), steak, salads, sandwiches, trout, mexican food. Good selection of alcoholic drinks, beer and soft drinks and even ice cream floats. The meals came with a choice of salad or soup and choice of baked or mashed potato, fries or vegetables. I ordered the steak sandwich which was strips of steak with grilled vegetables -onions and peppers, cheese and a spread of guacamole. It was served on crusty ciabatta bread. I asked for no added salt on the steak and they graciously accommodated me. It was nicely seasoned and didn't need the extra salt. The meat was nice and tender. Hubby ordered the starter dish taco (2) and it had a large piece of battered fried fish. It was crispy and moist. It could be an entree! I saw other diners order the burger and it was thick and large. Another party ordered the large pizza- let me tell you it was huge-almost big as a lazy susan. It could easily feed four or more. And the price was so reasonable- $23 for the premium pizza and $22 for the others. Looking around, all the meals that came out were generously portioned. No wonder the place was full! In spite of the steady flow of customers, the staff was very friendly and helpful and came by to refill waters. We didn't have to wait too long for the food in spite of the busyness. For those wanting a good meal after a day in the park, come here!

We also had a root beer float but was rather small for being a large on the receipt. Interior was up to par as well as the service.

Just found my new taco spot far away from home…read more Since I've been trucking for almost a week now, I've had the chance to try new food spots on the road -- mostly takeout, no sit-down -- and this place genuinely surprised me. The food was hot, fresh, and way better than expected. If I'm being honest, it was kind of a shocker. It's almost sad to say, but this was better than a lot of what I've had on my recent occasions in San Antonio. I stopped in quickly since we had to get back on the road, and from ordering to food in hand it took no more than 5-7 minutes. I ordered three mini tacos at $3 each, which is a solid price for Utah. I went with one carne asada, one lengua, and one adobada, all topped with cilantro and onion, served on fresh corn tortillas. The tortillas were soft, warm, and clearly made fresh. For salsas, I had two salsa verdes and one salsa roja. The salsa verde was classic and mild -- very fresh and flavorful, though I personally prefer it a bit spicier. The salsa roja delivered exactly what I was looking for with good heat and great flavor. I almost ordered tacos suaves, but I was really craving the mini tacos and I'm glad I went with them. Next time, I'll definitely try the tacos suaves. Everything tasted freshly made and not rushed, which made the experience even better. The restaurant is located inside the Flying J off Interstate 15 (Exit 112), and I was also impressed with how clean the Flying J itself was. Great service as well -- the guy at the counter was friendly and welcoming. This stop turned into a great meal and a new memory in the small town of Beaver, Utah. I'll definitely be back if my routes bring me through again. Highly recommend stopping by Beaver Taco if you're passing through.

They were delicious! We asked for red sauce, green sauce, paid a little extra for pico de gallo, and the nice lady working there gave me pickled jalapeños upon request.
