This is a very cute hole in the wall chai shop with lots of things on their menu. I was excited to try it because of their marketing. I tried the ginger chai and the Kashmiri. Chai. The server, Hira, was amazing and made for good conversation My in-laws loved their Kashmiri chai, but I wish the sugar levels could be adjusted. What that told me is that the chai was already readymade. I would have preferred fresh for the price. That said this place is super cute. Really bummed about this experience. I went in hoping for a good cup of chai, but it tasted like it was made from a powder mix, not fresh at all. Food quality terrible - tea over spicy - I am a tea drinker and it's done wrong - they advertise free wifi. I came here to work and use the VC wifi to log in. They refused to provide the guest wifi password saying they were told by the owner they don't want customers using it. The place is empty. Reasons why- simple - 1. Trying to go with a coffee cafe vibe- but they don't have Ca any vibe - no music in the background- no friendly customer service- and no wifi. Food poor quality and tea - is terrible - made over spicy - I drink tea and make tea myself - this tea tastes bitter with overdoing the spices not in proportion to cup served. Guys, if you are drinking Chai you have to see this lady's attitude who is serving at the counter. I ordered an Irani chai . The chai was just a sugar water with some flavor added. No taste of chai at all. I have been taking Irani chai from local chai places. I told her this is not Irani chai. The lady replied "Are you coming from Iran"? I had small kids with me so I didn't argue there. You can't ask a question like that where I am from. Instead of being empathetic, you question a customer. You the chai shai management please teach your staff to be nice. This is not how you can treat customers. I am not a new kid in the block. I have been here more than a decade. Many restaurants came and left their businesses. But we very rarely see this attitude. This is a cute little cafe with spacious seatings and good vibe. Nice decore. Service was ok. Staff was going inside kitchen leaving entire cafe to customers. Someone has to call them out when they wanted to order more. We tried , Cheese masala Maggie : This is Mac n cheese marriage to Indian Maggie noodles . Sounds wild but this combination does work. Noodles are very creamy yet spicy too. This quantity is very filling too. Chocolate chai cold : Again wild choice by my daughter. Surprisingly this worked too. It was cool and refreshing. Hubby took me on a mini date with baby was sleeping at home. Super cute cafe, instagramable Decore, fun board games to play, books to read and yummy food. What not to like about this place. This place was a pleasant surprise in Fremont Hub and tucked away like another Yelp-er mentioned. I think it would be hard to find if you weren't deliberately looking for it as it's inside the Fremont Hub area but I'm glad we stumble across it while we were walking around. We only ordered a Hot Masala Chai (12 oz) to go but we thought the Chai came out very hot, creamy, and had a pleasant sweetness to it from all the delicious spices added. I think the only downside is that I thought the 12 oz. which is their largest size was actually kind of small for the price but it did taste very good. The place itself is also very aesthetic and had a nice vibe to it. I think if I had more time, I would have chilled there longer and also ordered other stuff on the menu. I went to Chai Shai expecting a proper cup of fresh masala chai. What I got was a big disappointment -- the chai was clearly made from instant powder mix. It tasted overly sweet, artificial, and flat, with none of the rich spice aroma from real brewed chai. . No simmering spices, no proper tea base -- just cheap powder stirred into hot water. It felt lazy and misleading, especially since the menu and the shop's whole vibe suggest authentic Indian chai. The staff was friendly, but that doesn't make up for serving subpar, shortcut chai at regular prices. If you're someone who actually enjoys traditional fresh-brewed chai, skip this place. Definitely one of the worst Chais we have ever had. I had Ginger and my friend had Lemongrass and we both could see how horrible the Chais were on each other's faces as soon as we took the first sip. Excess sweetness. The usual tastes of ginger, lemongrass, cardamon with black tea...not discernible. Smothered. Sad. Prefer unsweetened. New chai & chill spot in the area with a bit of confusing decor, lol. You order & pay up in front - we got a medium Irani chai ($5.50) and onion kachori but they made a kachori chaat instead. We said we'd have it anyway and it ended up being FANTASTIC! Easily one of the best chaat I've had in a while. The flavours came together beautifully and kept me wanting more. The chai was good too but I feel the prices are $$$ for an India chai & snacks spot. For ex- the zafrani chai is $6 for a medium (my regular chai spot gives it for $3.50) Their Instagram page says they have weekly music and poetry nights which sounds nice, should drop by one of the weekends. Had high hopes for Chai Shai but unfortunately some things missed the mark. I came with my mom and grandma who love Indian chai. They ordered masala chai and wanted the side of matri but they didn't have it so that was disappointing. Then, they ended up making the wrong order and gave them elaichi chai instead and it was also entirely lukewarm, not hot at all. They did remake it though which was nice and was correct the next time. I got the chocolate chai which I really liked, good flavors and no complaints. The daal kachori was also just okay, and the paneer grilled sandwich was alright. The ambiance is quite nice though and there are cute decorations and seating areas. There are also games and toys. It does get quite loud with the crowd inside. I would hopefully like to come back to give it another chance, so we will see. read more

I'm going to spare this place from getting hit with a lawsuit and leave a helpful review. We brown people looooove our food and our tea hot. That's great that they make it so hot but they need to use better thicker cups. The 8oz tea cup is so thin and the chai is sooo hot that even after an hour, the cup is super hot to hold. It was such a hassle carrying it. I asked if they had the thing you put around the cup to protect your hands and they only had those for the 12 oz cup. They definitely need to get thicker cups or get that for the smaller cups too. Or just let the tea cool a bit! Next let's talk about sugar level. You know everyone's ammi, dad, grandpa, gramma all have diabetes. Watch the sugar. Have a STANDARD recipe. Why is it different every time? Last time I had the pink tea here, it was wonderful! So I came back expecting that but this time today I got the same thing and it had 2-3 times the amount of sugar ! Why? Keep it the same and consistent. Also why is sugar level not adjustable? everyone here has diabetes or something and sugar is easy to customize and add for each individual's preference so make a batch that has less and make the normal one for others. Indoor seating for certain areas can be a bit tight. Ideal for large groups or smaller intimate settings.. There are plenty of games to play that are provided by the Cafe. Service is pretty quick. Stopped by on a weekend. We were requested to use the kiosk for ordering, however, while entering the kiosk, more people walked in an ordered at the counter and they were served before us. I like my drinks lightly sweetened so left that as a note in the special instructions section, and my drink came out piping hot, fragrant and flavorful, and not too sweet as requested. Have a couple of suggestions: coffee was little too sweet for my taste so would love an option to adjust the sweetness level. We went there on weekend evening so we felt like there were little too many tables inside the cafe. If they reduce probably 1/2 tables there would be enough space to move around in the cafe.
