Amazing tea, glad to have something as good as Molly tea nearby! Staff is also really friendly and lovely :) will be coming here regularly

Looks sooo similar to MollyTea! Their interior is sooooo gorgeous!! Line was pretty short, ordered on the kiosk. After placing an order I waited in the back area and noticed their menu, they had more drink options :( kiosk only had the tea drinks! wait time was about 20 minutes, they're still new. omgggggg their tea is sooooo good. They specialize on oolong and black tea. This will be my go to now whenever I come to the Bay Area!! Way better than Molly tea! I ordered the ChaHalo Black Milk Tea Frappé with pecan whipped cream. So good I finished it on the way back to my car! Tastes similar to brown sugar milk tea and the pecan whipped cream was sooooo nutty. My friend ordered a large Jasmine Lemon Green Tea. Omg the biggest cup size I seen in my life it was funny and we loved it! Had a good laugh and it was very refreshing and citrusy. Worth the money!! After we received our order, the cafe and line got really busy!

I ordered the Jasmine green milk tea light ice 100% sweet, and OMG so delicious! The Jasmine flavor is so apparent which I love. So fragrant, highly recommend if you're a jasmine milk tea fan. I'm glad I tried this place, can't wait to try other flavors next time! Highly recommend. Staff was super friendly and welcoming, and the decor is beautifully authentic.

I've been eyeing this spot for a while and finally got to visit on a Saturday morning shortly after 11. The inside of the shop was clean and beautifully decorated. There is seating along the wall but this is mainly a pick up and go spot. The menu was a bit limited compared to other places and most of their drinks were focused on tea drinks rather than fruit teas. My kind of place! I ordered a large roasted oolong milk tea, 30% sugar and less ice with boba. The total came out to $7.99, which is a tad steep. The employees were very welcoming and let me know that there was about a 5 minute wait for the boba to be ready, which wasn't an issue at all. I liked my drink (30% sweet was perfect) but was a bit disappointed that the drink was very milk forward. The tea taste is very mild. With the menu having a heavy focus on tea drinks, I was expecting the tea to shine. I enjoyed the texture of the boba and found it mild in sweetness despite the description saying brown sugar boba. Given the price and the mild tea flavor, I'm not sure if I'll be back but I'm glad to see another boba spot in Berkeley!

Tried the location in New York this past April and when I found out they opened one up in Berkeley I was so excited. My best friend and I may be crazy but we will drive an hour for good boba. And this is much closer. Pretty great experience. Interior was very nice, they made really good use of their space- did not feel cramped to me at all and was very pretty. Great for a nice chat or catch up. We came Saturday early evening, I ordered the Jasmine milk tea with whipped cream and pecans 70% sweet no ice and it was same great quality as in New York. Service was fast and did not wait long at all. We came after 6pm so free parking. Plenty of street parking but it is close to a busy intersection so be mindful of that.

My boba cravings required a boba fix. Chahalo did not offer an array of flavor options, it did present quality with two oolongs I had never tried before - rock and osmanthus. Both teas were included in the Homemade Boba series along with a fresh milk option. I purchased all three, one for each of us. This series only comes in the size M (medium) with fresh milk as the only option, the sugar and ice levels are adjustable. The Fresh Milk with Homemade Boba ($7.49) was 100% sugar, no ice for my little - she LOVED it! The milk tasted so clean and crisp, at 100% sugar it was not too sweet and the boba was flavorful with a perfect chew. The Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea with Homemade Boba ($6.99) had a lightly sweetened floral green tea taste. It was SO good. My husband enjoyed it. The Rock Oolong Milk Tea with Homemade Boba ($6.99) sounds intimidating if you Google 'rock oolong'. The flavor was rich, complex with layers of flavor. If you enjoy a purer form of oolong, this one's for you. I loved mine, wishing I had the option to upgrade the size from M (only size available for the Homemade Boba series) to L. The prices are insanely inexpensive for the quality of ingredients used. The interior is clean, contemporary and comfortable. The cashier was very friendly, patient and assisted me with the options of customizing available to me. The order of three drinks was prepared quickly. The bag given to hold the drinks is such high quality and adorable. I will definitely reuse it. The only con, the straws are not strong enough to pierce the plastic protecting the drink. We used the end of a pen to make a hole first then entered the straw. My straw curled up and was pushed into itself attempting to pierce the plastic covering. Don't do it! Definitely worth a visit. Returned the next day for round two, but the store was closed at 12:49p. Says they open at 11a 7 days a week. Sucked! I drove out of the way to do a pickup. Call ahead, I will moving forward.

My friend and I decided to try out this tea shop. You order on the kiosk and they make the drink pretty fast. I got the Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea and the Chahalo Black Milk Tea Frappe. I got both with 80% sugar and less ice. The Black Milk Tea was very light in flavor. I liked it better when the whip cream melted and mixed in the drink. The Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea had a more fragrant taste so I prefer that one more.

I was excited to try this new boba spot on University Ave! The inside is clean and has a cute aesthetic. There is limited seating inside and ordering is straight forward on a self serve kiosk. I ordered the jasmine milk tea with boba, less ice, and 30% sweet. My drink came out shortly after I ordered and the service was friendly. I enjoyed the floral notes of the jasmine tea. The amount of sweetness was perfect. The only thing that was a bit odd was the after taste from the creaminess but overall it was good. I would come back to try their other drinks like the osmanthus oolong!

New boba shop in Berkeley! The menu is smaller than most boba shops, and it looks like they specialize in tea. I got the Black Milk Tea Frappe (which is not a frappe, but it does come with whipped cream). The drink was delicious but a little rich. I loved the toasted nuts on top. I would likely revisit if I was craving more authentic tea flavors!

I was obsessed with ChaHalo (aka Cha Hua Nong) when I tried it in Xian a few years back. Loved it again in New York Chinatown and was SO EXCITED to see that it just opened in Berkeley!! We went on a Sunday afternoon and ordered at the kiosk right away. Waited a little over 30min for the drinks. Loved that there were some chairs and tables to hang out while waiting. Osmanthus milk tea was very floral with a strong osmanthus flavor. Roasted oolong milk tea was definitely nuttier with a clear roasted flavor. Both drinks were a bit watered down (maybe cuz we got large?) compared to my previous experience at other locations, but still stronger in tea flavor than most other milk tea spots. The drinks do run a bit sweet as well. Overall, I think this is one of the best spots for oolong milk tea in the Bay Area!

3.5 stars! This is the newest hyped up tea spot in the Bay! I'm kind of torn because I do like the tea and the hand made boba, but maybe not together. The boba has a caramel-y flavor that I think overpowers the tea. Because of popularity, the wait is also kind of long so be prepared if you go some time soon. I think there are too many custoners to keep up with for the staff. When your order from the handmade series, you need to specify "series" because they might accidentally overcharge you as milk tea with add on boba. The staff was nice enough to correct it for us though. On the plus side, they do have specials like free magnets, bogo half off, and free totes for social media posts. The interior is cute but very small spaces/seats.

I actually came here a day too early last week; they weren't officially open yet. Should've known when there's a plank to cross lol. Finally made my way back here again though! There's an ongoing promo where the second drink is 50% off. Their free fridge magnet for first 100 customers promo ended yesterday though. Aesthetics here are really good. A lot of lighting and seats for people to hang out. I noticed they have a small drink selection but definitely feeling that quality over quantity vibe here. Tried both their rock oolong and osmanthus oolong milk tea with handmade boba. I recommend getting 0% sweet to get that good tea flavor. The handmade boba was pretty spot on too - warm, soft, and slightly firm in the center. The brown sugar didn't come off too strong but yeah I definitely recommend 0% sweetness level here. Will be coming back to try their other drinks. Side note: Y'all gotta be careful when paying though because the self ordering kiosks default to 15% tip.

They have an extensive menu of tea, I decided to get the black mango tea, which is indicated as high caffeine. They told me to keep it to less than 1 min steeping or else it gets oversteeped. They were prompt with coming out with my tea leaves and teapot, and gave me a towel to put your teapot on in case of spills It was bitter, but definitely has the fruity notes I was seeking. I was able to make several potfuls of tea which still had some flavor in them, so the leaves seemed to do well with re-steeping. They provided me with a kettle so I could continually reboil the water, so I felt it was decent value (since total it cost only slightly more than the average boba costs nowadays). I'm thinking I'd like to get the lychee or hojicha next time. The worker didn't mention to me if they offer milk, which I wish they did. But they do sell snacks. The bathroom is clean. They have free wifi but the day I was there, unfortunately they were having issues with the wifi. They have a 2 hour time limit on weekends, but no limit on weekdays. I appreciate that they have outdoor seating, for those who are airborne illness conscious, and also so you can enjoy nature and sunshine while having your tea. A lovely spot overall, right on San Pablo Ave so you can take the 72 bus lines to reach it.

Each table has its own kettle so we got to brew the tea ourselves. I know tea always comes with brewing instructions but I never really paid attention to those. However, this experience made me realize the importance of brewing tea as instructed to fully enjoy the flavors and notes each tea offers. Overall, my friend and I had a great experience. Their strawberry matcha is also delicious, with a fresher, juicier strawberry flavor than a lot of other spots. I would honestly give this location 5 stars based on the drinks and regular barista interactions alone, but my last experience was really off-putting. I noticed that people often study there with laptops, so I came in with mine and brought a small lunch from Oori down the street to make a morning out of it. I've done this before without issue, but this time, a woman with crazy eyes who seemed to have a higher role came out and very abruptly scolded me, saying, "You CAN'T eat outside food here," while aggressively pointing toward the door as if I needed to leave immediately. I completely understand having a no-outside-food policy, and I would have had no problem following it if it had been communicated respectfully. But the way she approached me felt unnecessarily harsh and honestly pretty upsetting. I apologized right away, packed everything up in a panic, and left. After processing it, I realized how inappropriate the interaction felt for something that could have been addressed with a simple, polite reminder. Overall, Asha has great matcha, a cute space, and friendly baristas, but that experience really left a bad taste in my mouth. Just a heads up: the drinks are good, but you may want to be careful about bringing outside food in, because the policy might be enforced in a pretty unpleasant way.

The bakery itself seems to mainly be a takeout spot, with minimal indoor seating which felt pretty inconvenient given the limited space for customers, however it did seem to serve more of a purpose as a waiting area anyways. The structure of the bakery leaves a bit to be desired as well, as we found the glass display cases as the only form of menu, so being in the front of the line while still deciding what to order caused some unnecessary anxiety. Regardless of those nitpicks, the baked goods themselves were pretty good! Service was instant, and all of the treats looked delicious--it was hard to choose what we wanted! Our favorites were the Thai Tea and Ube Coconut Mochi Donuts. Both had really strong flavors--the Ube in particular was very clear in comparison to most other Ube desserts in my experience. The textures of the mochi donuts were really well done too, with soft exteriors and chewy, glutinous interiors. The same can be said about the Mochi Muffins, though with crunchier parts around the edges. We found the contrast of textures to actually work really well! However, the flavors of the Muffins were lacking a bit--the Red Velvet didn't stand out much, with the frosting tasting a bit too sweet, and while the Five Spice had a really interesting flavor, it was also a bit too sweet, drowning out the more unique citrusy flavor. Overall, however, all four of the goods we had were enjoyable eats, and would definitely return some time to try out other flavors!
