Recently I visited my hometown after many years of being absent to assist with a family emergency. One bright morning, I needed two things very badly: coffee, and a workspace. Chaffee's Brewhouse provided excellent drip coffee, espresso, and more. The service from the employees was excellent-on point, patience, informed, professional, and even better-friendly-the kind of friendly you only get from small midwestern towns. More importantly: there is food provided, and several rooms and areas to enjoy your food and drink, and Chaffees had an excellent quiet room that allowed me to setup my laptop and submit multiple million dollar proposals in while I drank my coffee. I can't wait to come back to town, if only for the coffee and the one thing I didn't get to do there: have a beer/cocktail at the end of the day. We got the egg and cheese sourdough bread sandwich! Service was friendly, and the ambiance was great! The seating is plenty inside and out! Different vibe so it's not just a brew house it's coffee which is the reason we came for! :) One thing to mention it seemed the staff was new so give them grace as many were not able to answer certain answers about tea choices. However they were willing to add more milk to my drink when it seemed it did not have any, especially as an avid coffee drinker. read more

I want to start by saying that the food was good. Unfortunately the woman who "greeted" us and took our order when we arrived was not welcoming, pleasant or helpful. She seemed more focus on her phone than helping us. She was unable to answer questions about the menu and seemed put off by asking questions about customer favorites or recommendations. When we left she could not be bothered to look up from her phone to acknowledge us. On the bright side - the kitchen staff were friendly and interactive, the food came out quickly, and it was a nice quiet place to sit and visit with my friend over a long lunch. read more

I was walking around Tipp when I noticed a sign that said "soup and sandwiches." Recently, I enjoyed a delicious zucchini soup at a similar cafe in Troy, and my hope was that they would have something unique here as well. No such luck. They said they don't have soup in the summer. I ended up trying 2 different pop tart flavors. The customer ahead of me got a pop tart so I figured "why not?" I also got a coffee, which was not bad. Based on food alone, I'd give them 3 stars, but I knocked one off for false advertisement. read more

I wanted coffee after work so I went into this place because Tipp doesn't have a coffee shop open in the later afternoon. The girl couldn't even say hello! Strike 1. I ordered a cold brew with a flavor. She poured it out of a CAN! Strike 2... I couldn't believe what I saw...all of the coffee equipment that I could see in the back and she poured it from a can! I guess it's all for show...I had to ask for cream...she asked me if half and half was ok, but with a pissy attitude...Strike 3...I'll never go back! read more

What a great place. Tons of beer on tap to choose from! We had a pale ale from Lock 27 - great beer! We also had a charcuterie board with herb goat cheese, manchego cheese, nice olives, pepperoni, fig jam, 4 kinds of crackers, prosciutto ham and stone ground mustard. It was all great! September 20, 2020 Finally a brewery in Tipp City! This place is across from Harrison's on 2nd Street situated in the historic part of Tipp in the Chaffee's Opera House building from 1867. Their mission is to provide patrons with craft beer, cocktails, wine, and mocktails in an inviting and completely renovated space, which they managed to do. This isn't a large pub so it won't accommodate large parties but if you want to take yourself and a few friends, this makes a great spot to soak in the history at a bar which is built with wood sourced directly from a family farm. The large caulk board has the list of drinks. There is also a paper menu of the draft list. According to their website this pub "...combines Lisa's love of mixology and wine with Shawn's knowledge of beer and draft systems. As the owner of Miami Valley Draft Systems, Shawn meticulously designed and installed our 18 tap system. This system showcases 12 beers on tap with an emphasis on Ohio breweries. There will be four wines offered on tap, including two reds and two whites. The remaining two taps will be include a seltzer offering and a "mocktail" that can be served as is or can be used as mixers enhanced by our full bar of liquors - also with an emphasis on Ohio distilleries." Perhaps they will carry their own label at some point in the future but that isn't in the immediate plans. Chaffees Brewhouse is a new business in downtown Tipp City offering a nice spot in the downtown area to enjoy a cocktail, wine, or one of a dozen draft selections. We stopped in on a Thursday night and enjoyed two beers each, which sounds easier than it is. The selection is a well-chosen variety of flavorful beers, ranging from IPA to stouts. Something (or 3-4 things) for everyone. With the help of a sample, we each chose our second round and enjoyed everything... makes me want to go back and try a few more, though. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, also effortlessly sanitizing the space in between clients. There are four distinct seating areas, including an outdoor patio accessed from the back interior door or the side alley. Nestled into a historic space, the newly renovated space is very charming and well-appointed. Seating is comfortable and spaced well. read more

Quaint local bar with craft brews and cocktails. Small and cozy, locals were friendly and they use a lot of Ohio made spirits and brews.

For Tipp city, this is a cool micro brew bar with a array of gourmet cocktails. There is plenty of room with a room upfront and a room in the back with socially distanced tables. I think you can get a snack cheese board too if you like. We did not order food but we tried both ipas on tap. They were alright, I would have liked to have known which brewery they are from but I didn't see that info. We only had time for one but if I go again, I think I would opt for a signature chocolatey martini. read more

This is a much needed addition to a nice small town. We stopped in for drinks before heading to coldwater. The staff was friendly, and although the bartender needed to be walked through how to make a few drinks, it somehow added to the charm of the place. It unintentionally added a "create your own cocktail" feel. They have a great beer and wine selection and some limited spirits. They could use some decor to charm up the place a bit, but we enjoyed it none the less. Tipp City badly needed a good place to drink. Next time I'll try the charcuterie. Yes. Chaffees Brewhouse - a glass of beer on a table - Breweries Near Me - Tipp City, Ohio

I have relatives and friends in Ohio and some live in Tipp City. During a recent visit I asked where we should go for some nice atmosphere and a good selection of beers, and I was encouraged to go to Chaffees. I called a local friend, and my wife and I met him there. The experience was quite good as the bartender was helpful and allowed my wife to sample a brew before selecting one. Nice place overall. But now here's the rub. We get our bill a few weeks later and the place billed my credit card 2 x's for the same 3 beers. I thought not a problem, I'll call them and they will be able to see the error and they can reverse the bogus charge quickly. Not so fast. After several unanswered calls with messages, I finally was able to speak to someone who said they'd have the manager call me back. Ok, well ...(days pass)..... no call. I called again and left a message.... crickets. I then went to my credit card company and disputed the charge. My card company said Chaffees would have about a full month to respond. Well guess what, the very last day they refunded the money back. Hmm so that's what bad beer tastes like. As a business owner myself, the owners of this establishment should know that their utter disregard for the normal good practices in business reflects poorly on them and that establishment. My advice, steer clear of this place and have a beer somewhere where they don't double charge you and ignore you after the sale. BTW, if you want to run a tab, they keep your card behind the bar.
