We got the pad see ew, drunken noodles, tom kha soup, and panang curry. We did family style and we still had a bit left over to take home. Good service. The employees are nice and accommodating. What a nice find! We were looking for a new Thai restaurant, one which we had not yet tried or had heard about. Then it pops up on Yelp! The menu had many different dishes. We opted for 2 of their daily lunch specials; Orange Chicken and Chicken Pad Thai, with a side of egg rolls. Our lunches came with a very nice salad. The dressing was most delightful. Our entrees were both delicious, but also plentiful. Our leftovers will be enjoyed tonight! The service was excellent. Absolutely no negative comments in this regard. I had read in other comments how the air conditioning had been set on Antarctic. Well kids, it still is. But considering the heat and humidity, the coolness was more pleasant than annoying. Surprised i havent written my review until now... ive been here about 10 times at this point and has always been consistent when it comes to quality freshness and flavor. Every order has been made to order which is ALWAYS a good thing. This has been the best Thai restaurant in Orange County in my opinion thus far. All the flavors taste very authentic. The food here is great. I've been here twice for their lunch specials now. The Pad Thai has more of a fish sauce smell/taste compared to other spots in my option. I prefer the pad kee mao with beef! Can't believe I've never been here and I live down the street! It's hidden in the corner of the Joe Shmoes parking lot. When we walked in the place was pretty crowded and I felt like since it's a small place they were short staffed cause there was a lot of dirty tables and we just sat at the only clean one, besides that the food was so fresh and delicious. Shrimp pad Thai was a good noodle consistency and loaded with shrimp. Allergen alert : crushed peanuts are packed in a tiny cup separately. Also very flavorful, not too sweet. Mildly spiced. Green chicken curry had sliced chicken breast, bamboo shoots and basil in a slightly sweet creamy coconut base. Comes with a side of white jasmine rice because you gotta have that with rice!! They have the best chicken satay skewers: the chicken is marinated and quite moist even with grilling. Peanut sauce and sliced peppers in vinegar on the side. Spicy Green curry chicken had lots of flavor. My husband and I enjoyed the basil roasted pork belly in medium spicy. It was the perfect heat for this delicacy and the pork belly was still crunchy. Our waitress was super attentive and she came back a few times to ask us if everything was ok. We came in around 2:35pm on a Saturday so there was no one else dining at that time. We are frequent diners at Sweetee Thai and I'm telling you, the quality, quantity and taste of Chaba's food surpasses Sweetee Thai. That's just my opinion. I tried Chaba again for Friday dinner. For the first time, I ordered the chicken satay for the appetizer, chicken yellow curry, and our fave beef fried rice for entrée w Thai beer, Singha. My hubby likes this beer. Well, everything was good, but the chicken satay (skewer) was so big, not completely cooked, pink color. The server didn't charge and recooked them. For me, I like the yellow curry w chicken. It has the chunky potatoes, carrots. I chose the medium spicy. Little kick...you can choose how spicy you like. The service is not too fast, not too slow. They have lots of to go orders. I want to say the restaurant is closed on Monday. This is a casual, comfy restaurant. Not too expensive, the portion is big. I tried some pad thai, fried tofu, and orange chicken before so I ordered the chicken yellow curry and chicken Satay. I noticed the yellow curry is so popular, you can choose how spicy you like. I like the chunky potatoes in the curry w white rice. So flavorful, little kick! Spicy! But the chicken Satay was not met my expectation. I like the small thin skewer, just one bite size. Got lunch chicken pad Thai. This was my 2nd time trying this restaurant. 1st time I had beef salad and it wasn't good but I wanted to give them benefit of doubt that beef salad not their Forte. We've tried other Thai restaurants in the Cerritos, Cypress and Los Alamitos area and this one is consistently great. The food was decent. I got pad Thai, it had good flavor 3.5/5. I also got fried wontons. They were stuffed with chicken 3/5. The prices were fair. The service was just okay, a bit slow. When we walked in we had to go to the counter to let them know we wanted a table, no one to greet us at the door or ask how many were dinning. They sat us in the middle and the AC was on full blast(all other tables around were for 4 people and we were 5 so this was the only choice). After a while we asked if they could turn it off. They did for a bit but then turned it back on. I understand why they turn it on since it seemed it was the only vent in the whole place so I'm sure it got hot in the hallways near the restrooms and other areas. Unfortunately we were sat right under it so it was extremely cold. We were shaking and my friend got a runny nose during the hour we were there. We ate quickly because it was too cold and asked for boxes to take the food home since we didn't want to stay any longer. I heard another table complaining to each other that it was cold, even though they had sweaters and weren't directly under it! Also, fyi they charged an automatic 18% tip to our bill. We dined here last night for the second time in maybe a year. The food seemed even better than I remembered. This is a smallish, cozy family owned and operated restaurant. I give the food a solid 5. The service could have definitely been better, hence the rating. There were two working, both younger looking, perhaps brother & sister? They certainly could have added a third person, especially on a Saturday night. The male was standing behind the cash register 80% of the time. When we walked in, I don't know for certain, however I do not recall hearing a greeting. The female was serving a table and the male was on the phone possibly taking a food order? It appeared they do a good amount of take-out orders. Therefore, we just seated ourselves. Very shortly we received menus. I noticed the male answered the phone, put the caller on hold, then handed the female a couple dishes to serve THEN came over to take our order. He didn't really seemed rushed, just rather a bit detached. No greeting, no asking, how are good....just, are you ready to order? Frankly, I wouldn't have put a caller on hold. We were seated close enough that he could have just said, we'll be right with you. I watched as the female seemed to be the main one to work the room, taking orders, serving and bussing tables. As patrons left, no comments from either one, such as, "thank you for coming." The food came out fairly fast which I appreciated. We had pad Thai & pineapple fried rice with chicken. The flavors were explosive in the mouth. So very yummy. Both dishes came out of kitchen hot! Which I love. You could just tell they came right out of the kitchen immediately after being plattered. We had leftovers enough for approximately 1.5 servings at home. Again, flavors were terrific and had just right amount of wetness. I would certainly recommend this restaurant based on food, generous servings and quick service. If there is an owner or manager reading, I would recommend some training in customer service skills which, if added-just might take the number of patrons each night, to a higher level. Just adding, "thank you for coming in tonight, we look forward to seeing you next time." AND when handing menus to patrons, ask, "have you dined with us before?" If the answer is "yes", it gives your server an opportunity to say, with a genuine big smile, " well, welcome back!" If the answer is no, your server can inquire how did you hear about us? These answers, provided back to owners, can give insight for future marketing. And, if the answer was no, after asking the fore mentioned question, your server can make some recommendations, perhaps mention best sellers making sure to mention starters too to help increase the ticket. They're generous with their portions of beef, chicken, and shrimp, all cooked to perfection. I'm glad I went with medium spice because his full spice was ultimately too hot for him. Comes with salad and a heart-shaped serving of white rice. I also ordered a papaya salad because I almost always order papaya salad when eating Thai food--ever try making papaya salad? It's hard work and I was quite happy with their large serving of it. This place took over the previous Thai Restaurant (that was actually the name). I tried two items so far. Spicy Basil Leaves with Ground Beef and Fried Egg had great flavor and heat (for medium spicy) but ground beef was tough. I don't know how that's even possible, but I ended up spitting out about 20% of the meat because they were very tough and chewy. Some pieces didn't even look like ground meat, but more like long strands. If I ever get this again, I might have to go with ground chicken instead of beef. Quite disappointing because this was one of the items listed under Chef Specials. Pad See Ew was very flavorful as well. I ordered this with chicken, which wasn't too tough. I would order this again as my whole family liked this dish. Given the tough ground beef, I really should give this place three stars, but I'm giving it a pass since it's still quite new. It is a little small on the inside so there can be a wait if they get really busy. But it is so worth the wait. Friendly and efficient staff. And they do serve rice with their curry.
