Just ordered take out from here and the drunken noodles and pad Thai were delicious. Even the presentation was nice when we opened up the boxes! The owners seemed very friendly and the interior was modern and clean. My wife and I live across the corner and we were happy with the price and quality of the food. Was here a week ago while visiting from Colorado. Best Thai food I've ever tasted. My friend who taught English as a second language in Thailand for a year said this was the best Thai food she has had in the states. We have many Thai option in the area and this ain't it. We've ordered teriyaki salmon and it's $17.95. Salmon was cold inside. Beef salad, beef was chewy. Sweet and Sour Pork was pasty and powdery. Basil chicken was all mushy and pasty too. We had a few fried rice and the rice were all mushy. We were looking forward to trying out the new restaurant. It was extremely disappointing and wish we didn't eat. Lots of MSG! No drinks for 2 adults and 2 kids was $61! Wait, we haven't gotten to service. The food took so long, two tables left without their food while we were there. Hope that's just a grand opening thing for service. Food has to improve for sure. Today was my time trying this place. I gave it a go because of the 4 star reviews. I ordered to go, and although the owner was really nice, I am more than disappointed in the food and its quality. I ordered 3 main dishes and a mango sticky rice dessert. The veggie yellow curry wasn't even cooked! The veggies were still raw and the potatoes were hard and crunchy. The mango sticky rice was old and the mangos were hard. The rice wasn't even sticky! They used regular old stale rice, poured coconut sauce on top, and called it mango sticky rice. I ordered 15 minutes before they closed for lunch time, and instead of cooking the food correctly, they rushed it just to take my money. $60 down the drain. The food was very bland as well. I was excited to see that Cha had taken the place of the old Taco Bell, even though I do miss Taco Bell. Cha is very delicious. We have had drunken noodles which are my favorite, yellow and green curry and pineapple fried rice. I recommend them all. Glad to have a super convenient Thai option in San Ramon now. read more

The best Thai food in the area! Decor is classy and inviting and the service was great. The must-try appetizers are the vegetarian spring rolls and the mango salad was delicious. We were here during happy hour on a weekend, ordered chicken satay, veg spring rolls, Thai fried rice and fried banana with ice cream. Everything was good, I personally enjoyed fried banana the most it was very crispy and not heavily coated with batter unlike other places. I do not write reviews(I read many though) The last one I wrote was 10 years ago. But, we frequent Cha Thai often and I think they are well deserving. I cannot say one negative thing about this establishment. Food is fantastic! Service is on point and so personable. This is our go to for Thai. Both the appetizers and entrees are delish!! Have yet to have anything on their menu that is not fabulous. From the roti or Rangoon to their pra ram(their peanut sauce is soooo good), and all currys to the Larb salad.......It is just all so so very good.Their contrasting flavors of hot spices with sweet, light flavors is abundant on the entire menu. Their vegetables are so fresh and cooked perfectly. They will accommodate any requests to make your meal perfect such as spice level etc.... and will always nail it. As long as we live in this area I do not think we will patron any other Thai restaurant. read more

First time being here I ordered a Thai boat noodle soup on a cool evening. While I enjoyed the beef stew, beef balls and rice noodles a great deal, the soup was way too oily and loaded with artery-clogging fat even though it was very delicious. It was my third time but it's the final strike! They want to give their food some twists which doesn't really work out. For instance the tum yum soup is full of cabbage. The broth has so much cabbage in it, it stinks! I ordered spicy; it's mild and way under seasoned. Then there is the basil chicken that had every vegetable in it and hardly any chicken. I asked for mild, it's spicy and greasy. The yellow curry is atomic hot! I asked for mild. And finally the pad thai; how can you mess that up? Well let me tell you that when they take liberties with their recipes, like add cabbage to pad Thai, is when they fuck up a decent pad thai! Got an order to go - shrimp Pad Thai and Thai iced tea. Pad Thai was much sweeter than the Pad Thai we were used to, and the portion wasn't that big.
