I recently visited Cha Papi Cafe during their preview ( Grand opening coming soon......). It is spacious and charming cafe that offers a variety of teas and sweets. Their menu includes treats like mochi donuts, Taiyaki, and numerous hot and cold beverages. During my visit, I tried two mochi donuts: one chocolate funnel cake and the other churro flavored. They were absolutely delicious. This was my first time trying mochi donuts. It's similar to a traditional donut, but the texture is moist, fluffy, and a little chewy like mochi. The flavors of the mochi donuts will change weekly, while some staple flavors will remain constant. To complement my mochi donuts, I ordered a refreshing Fresca, made with fruit purée, tea, and ice. They have a variety of unique flavor options for their frescas such as Strawberry Chrysanthemum and Passionfruit Guava Jasmine. I got a Strawberry Jasmine Fresca, it was light and mildly sweet beverage. It was very refreshing for a hot and humid day. They also serve taiyaki, a fish-shaped pastry filled with ice cream. The taiyaki comes filled with red bean paste or custard filling, and then you can choose your ice cream flavor. Today they had matcha and ube, but the flavors will rotate periodically. You can also customize your ice cream with various syrups such as caramel , condensed milk, or chocolate and add toppings like mochi, sprinkles, wafer sticks, or Oreo crumbles. I decided to get my ice cream in a cup. I got the Ube flavor, drizzled with condensed milk, and topped with chocolate sprinkles, mochi, and a wafer stick. It was delightful, and I highly recommend giving it a try. What made my visit even better was that I got to meet the owners, Brian and Shirley,,who were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Their staff was wonderful too, so friendly , efficient and provided excellent customer service. Here we are! I've been excited for the opening day of Cha Papi since I saw the paper signs go up on the window showing a Mochi donut shape. All expectations were met and exceeded once I finally got a bite of a real Mochi donut made by Cha Papi and it was everything we could've hoped for. Bouncy texture is the difference between Mochi donuts and brioche or cake donuts. I'm especially excited they have various Asian / unique flavors here like matcha, ube, black sesame, and guava. Their Thai ice tea is not too sweet which is exactly how I like it. Pair with some grass jelly and you've got it made. The mango jasmine tea is also delicious and fruity. Some unique bubble tea options here that aren't found at other spots in the area like the black sesame latte, ube latte (which is different than taro fyi), and more drinks I didn't get a chance to try yet. The matcha soft serve is some of the best I've ever had and i devoured it so quickly with the fresh red bean taiyaki cone. I need to come back to get a chance to try everything. The team at Cha Papi have been handling the crowds so well and are so friendly. The spot is a vibe and has potential to be the gathering spot for many in the future. Some tables and couch areas to sit, which I won't be surprised if they fill up quickly as Cha Papi gets their word out there. Stellar first visit. Long lines (expected) but people working were clear about the donut supply. They were great from a service perspective and very accommodating when my lactose intolerant self realized he forgot to change to nondairy milk ‍ Decor was the typical trendy instagrammable ambiance - neon signs and minimalist. Bathroom in the back left. Large parking lot. I got the guava fruit drink and the dirty Ube Latte - both great! Ube latte was a little grainy - likely because of the nondairy milk. This was my first time trying mochi donuts. I found the donuts to be dense and sweet, but not too sweet. I tried the strawberry funnel cake and biscoff flavors. I didn't care for the strawberry funnel cake, but loved the biscoff donut. The donuts are slightly on the drier side but still good overall. For the milk tea, I tried the Jasmine Green and added boba. The tea was strong and you can definitely taste the different flavors. The restaurant was bright and clean. This place popped up in my social media two days before grand opening and I knew I had to go. Before this spot, I was highly dissatisfied with Hartford county's boba and matcha options. Here, they hand whisk the matcha every order and can order it unsweet, unlike so many places with latte mixes. The bubbles are fresh and warm and maintain a good texture even in the cold drink. The matcha soft serve is also a strong matcha flavor, along with the ube. The donuts were very solid, but I probably won't over again at $4.50/ea. My favorite was the churro. The staff is friendly, despite a couple bumps in the road for my order, but to be expected in the first hour or so of opening. I couldn't wait to try Cha Papi. The shop is cute and the staff were friendly. My husband and I each got a taiyaki cone and split a donut. The treats were great!! I loved the sesame ice cream. The cone itself was cute, but probably not something that I would order every time. I found it to be a bit bread-like, and less exciting to eat than it looked. My husband ordered the matcha and sesame twist, and his was good too. We were really impressed with the Biscoff donut. Neither of us have tried mochi donuts before, but we loved the chewy and light texture. The flavor and appearance were awesome too. I was a bit shocked by the prices. It cost nearly $22.00 for two average size ice cream cones and one small donut. The prices don't necessarily make me want to rush back; however, I will try some donuts and ice cream again in the future. I would also like to try some of their drinks. Finally got to check this place out in a Friday morning, they have been so busy on the weekends, I have been waiting! There was a small line, but it was inside the building and moved quickly enough. Staff was very pleasant. I was on my way to event that had food so I came just for the mochi donuts (I would have loved to have gotten a latte or taiyaki!) and they didn't disappoint. I have been dying to try a kochi donut but the closest places I know are NY or NJ! I got one of every flavor that they had that day and split them with my sister and boyfriend. I loved the chewy texture and the glaze flavors were great! The ube churro didn't seem to have much flavor to it, maybe because it was a sugar, but the rest were bangin'! I can't wait to go back and try the rest of their stuff! It has a few tables so as long as they aren't too busy, you could def enjoy some time there. I hope they do well and stick around! read more

Finally got a chance to try this cute desert spot on a rainy day in the afternoon on a weekday. I have been trying to come here for weeks on the weekends when I'm off from work, but this place is so popular as I was so long, I never got a chance to go away. I'm so glad I finally got a chance to come in. Our group ordered the taiyaki with red bean paste, and a mix of the Matcha and roasted Matcha, ice cream with chocolate syrup, wafers, and a little Matcha candies on top. We also have a mochi doughnut. Both items were absolutely delicious. That's why Akki was warm and the ice cream was very flavorful. Yeah, it's soft like good soft serve should be. The Rebbie piece was only at the very bottom of the teriyaki, fish shaped pastry, but it was warm and sweet. I am not generally a fan of mochi doughnut, and I have tried many including famous spots in California. However, I will say that this one was very delicious. It was nice and crispy on the outside from the front though, with a nice, chewy center. I would definitely return Again. I just hope that someday, this place loses some of the type, and I will be able to come here on random times throughout the week without having to wait in line for 30+ minutes. read more

Stopped by here after going to a dong. Got their classic black milk tea with boba and a Hong Kong milk tea with boba. The Hong Kong milk tea is the way to go, better tea flavor balanced by the sweet milkiness from condensed milk reminds me of my childhood. My fiancé got their lemon poppyseed donut and was a fan. I didn't get the taiyaki soft serve cone that day - mainly because I didn't see what flavors they had for soft serve. Maybe I'm blind, maybe the flavors were somewhere super obvious and I just missed it. The staff was very busy but they were friendly and everything we got was freshly made. The restaurant was very clean even though they were super busy. My boyfriend is Filipino and he was excited to see some Filipino flavors!! We ordered the Ube ice cream Taiyaki with sprinkles and Mochi, half dozen of Mochi donuts, and four different kind of drinks. The soft serve Ube ice cream was soo good and perfect paired with the taiyaki.. me and my boyfriend ate it very quickly. The Mochi donuts were warm and I could tell they just made them.. they were perfect lightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. It was like eating a fluffy donut pillow of sweet and tasty delight. We tried each flavor and I loved every single flavor. I visited the store a day before the grand opening not realizing they were not open yet! Needless to say, I went for the grand opening. I got there at 10:30 and met a LONG line, they opened at 11 and I left at around 12:55. Though that was a long wait, the service and the way they handled this grand opening was amazing. The line was moving quickly with all things considered. As soon as I stepped in I knew I would be a regular because of how pretty and inviting it is inside. The ambiance was giving social media feed for those who like the looks. The important part though the FOOD. The matcha latte I got was great, not watered down and had a good sweetness to it (IF U LOVE SWEET, you should pick another drink as this is for people who prefer more of an earthy, milky type of drink).
