Im not exactly sure how I managed to never review my favorite Pho restaurant. I've been going to Pho Boston for 20 years easy. And interestingly most of the staff is the same. While maybe not the most friendy service, its fast and efficient. Pho is all about the broth and Pho boston does it right. I get 2,7,18, and 3 orders of 25. For die hards you will understand. Very solid pho, very busy, nice staff Came here because of the rave reviews and the weather has been particularly gloomy this spring. So decided to get some good soup to warm the bones a bit. Inside has some decoration but it's light. Lots of seating and booths, and each one had people at it. There was some hints at modernization in their presentation. It very much looks like the influence of the new generation leaking into a very established locale. Located in the same plaza as the awesome Asian grocery and the very good Peruvian restaurant, this place is turning into a bit of a foodie Mecca. Both a good and bad thing, cause it has to be great to stand out but that means the customer has to choose where to go. It's good for everyone, and this place is not starved for business, but it's a hurdle The pho here is some of the best I have had. The broth is strong beef flavored but still spiced enough to be its own pho creation. Noodles are good, proteins are just cooked so very tender and flavorful. The egg rolls were an afterthought, and the beef carpaccio was good but was better to dunk in the broth to cook slightly and impart that pho flavor to the meat. Drinks were good as well, basic but functional. It's not the best pho I've had, but it's really good pho done well and the crowds are evidence of this.if you're in the area and want pho, you'd be hard pressed finding a better place around. Overall, would give this establishment is a 4.5 if I could on here. Finally met up with some family/friends today to try this spot that they were raving about. They stated the wait time to get our table wasn't long at all, since I came after. The ambiance was great, homey, & definitely gave homemade. The staff we spoke to on our visit was friendly. They have a great variety of dish options available, bubble teas, & some beer. I truly enjoyed #26 Tôm, which was a shrimp Pho Bò. I added quail eggs (only option available) & ordered chili oil to go with. I truly enjoyed the flavors, still added some extra sauces to liking. The Ðăt Biêt #19, another Pho Bò dish was also flavorful & the meats were tender. Everyone else also enjoyed their dishes, so no complaints yet. Personally I think the pricing was superrr reasonable for the quantity. Yes, it's slightly higher than some other places I've tried but I am not complaining, just referencing. 12.31.24 This is one totally legit, I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place. Wholeheartedly, I thought I had one here from about 6 or 7 years ago but I don't see it. Very strange. This spot is always very consistent. They have good food here and a huge amount of different entrées to choose from. I've mainly stuck with their pho and different apps during my many visits. There is a huge parking lot so parking is never an issue. They're located right next to A Dong Supermarket which is another favorite by many in this area. The restaurant itself is always clean. Nice, simple with a small fish tank. It's a pretty spacious restaurant. The service has always been quick and very efficient all of the time I've been here. They're quick with getting the food out to your table. To go orders are also ready very quickly. One of my fav's here are their spring rolls with the fish sauce. So yummy. The pho here is pretty basic but memorable. It's just as good with the to go orders eating it in the go. Difficult to eat on the go but you can make it work. There's great hard working people here. They aren't much with conversations but their food makes up for it. I reccomend it. It's worth a stop when you're in the area. Ahhh, there it is, i see it now. The pho was as authentic as it gets service was outstanding cleanliness and efficient everything we ordered from Thai ice tea to fresh shrimp and pork rolls to chicken wings to extra large large pho noodle soup specials were all excellent even got my son and college roommate plates for dinner to go grilled pork chops with fried egg and rice of course. Stopped in here last night after boxing for some re fuel and wow is this Pho good! My friends and I split an order of the shrimp rolls, and the peanut sauce was heavenly. My friend and I went to Pho Boston after I told her how I was in the mood for some Spring Rolls. Pho Boston is a casual Vietnamese restaurant. It's been a few years since I was last here. We each got the spring rolls with shrimp and peanut sauce. We also got something new to the both of us, we got the Vietnamese crape. We also got bubble tea. The waiter was very quick and offered suggestions. The spring rolls were pretty good, I'm not going to say great because the rice paper felt very rubbery, much more rubbery than on any spring roll I've had previously. The contents were fresh and we both enjoyed them with peanut sauce. The Vietnamese crepe was also very tasty, this is basically an omelette stuffed with shrimp and pork. It also came with fresh salad on the side. Unfortunately, the bubble tea was a huge let down. I got the almond flavor, because I don't typically see it as an option. This was the worst bubble tea or anything I've ever drank. It looked, smelled and tasted like almond scented hand soap. It was cloudy white, and very watery, it smelled and tasted very artificial. Awful. My friend got the red bean, hers was better. She told the waiter, that I didn't like mine and asked if I could get a different one. He hesitated then said " ok, just this one time". I'm not sure what it meant but it sounded like I'm there everyday complaining. Last time I was in Pho Boston was in 2019. I got the Taro bubble tea as a replacement, this one was better. It was still miles away from an authentic bubble tea. Pho Boston is a good place to get your preferred Vietnamese dish. I would absolutely not get a bubble tea here. read more

Based on a combination of factors including food quality, ample parking and seating, proximity and familiarity, Pho Boston has been my most frequent source of Vietnamese cuisine since my wife and I moved to Newington. Due to the Pandemic and the fact that I wasn't an active Yelp reviewer until last year, Pho Boston is one of several businesses that have played a significant food role in my life that I haven't reviewed before. I am a big fan of rare steak pho aka Pho Bo Tai and this cold weather had me craving pho. So I visited Pho Boston for lunch. I ordered the rare steak pho and egg rolls aka Cha Gio. I think Pho Boston's pho is good, but I think the egg rolls are great. They're filled with a combo of ground pork, dried mushrooms, shredded carrots and vermicelli, and then deep fried and served with lettuce for wrapping and sweet and sour fish sauce for dipping. The texture and flavors are terrific. The pho broth is satisfying, but there is at least one area place that has greater depth of flavor in the broth. The rare steak was good quality. The noodles were decent. The accoutrements (Basil, sprouts, lime, sauces, etc) were on point. There's a first-time "pho" everything! Tonight was my very first time trying, Pho! I was in the area and saw Pho Boston located in the plaza I was shopping in and decided to give it a whirl! I was kind of in a rush, but thankfully, as soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted and brought over to a booth. We were given paper to-go menus, and to be quite honest, it was a little confusing and overwhelming being a first-timer. There were so many options that all kind of sounded the same. Our waiter came over and helped me order, but I decided to go basic, and I went with the shrimp pho. Even though it sounds basic, it was full of flavor! The cilantro and onions in the soup really gave an extra taste to the broth. It was served with a side dish of bean sprouts, limes, and jalapeños. The table had hot sauce and chili sauce on it to add in as well if wanted. This establishment is more of a takeout/ quick meal kind of environment, but I did like the fish tank in the corner by my table! It added some color and fun to my pho experience! I did enjoy my soup, but it was a bit pricey. I'm glad I got to at least try it and hopefully learn other ways to order it in the future. read more

My wife and I ordered Bún Tôm, Thit Nuóng, Chá Giò and we both were quite disappointed. The pork was way overcooked, dry and lacking flovor. The vegetables were carrots and lettuce only, without the addition of diakon radish, bean sprouts and cucumbers which are customary in many other Vietnamese places we dine-in. The Chá Giò weren't crispy, lacked flavor and simply had no eye appeal. Even the condiments were lacking. The nuoc mam, in my opinion, was either poor quality or watered down while the chile garlic sauce wasn't nearly up to par. We hadn't dined there in many years because of a bad experience back then, apparently nothing has changed. Unfortunately Pho Boston is off the list, there are better Vietnamese dining options. read more

I ordered the Pho Boston, the chicken with yellow noodle, pork spring rolls, chicken wings and washed it down with a Chang lager. The soups were great, hot, balanced in flavors. The spring rolls tasted fresh and were nicely rolled. The wings were perfectly cooked, they got a nice color on them and were very crispy. They were a little bland though. Service was fast and friendly. Ambiance was great. The crowd was very diverse and happy. I've been here many times and it is my favorite Pho spot in CT. Pho Boston despite its name is a Vietnamese restaurant located in West Hartford. They are known for their pho. There are so many variations it can get overwhelming, but the main differences are just the meats and the size. I got the bun cha gio (vermicelli dish with egg rolls), dat bien pho (beef pho with tendons, rare steak, brisket, flank, and tripe) and goi sua tom (shrimp salad with jellyfish). The beef pho was delicious and very filling with a medium sized bowl. It comes with plenty of bean sprouts, which I surprisingly liked with my broth. Would definitely get pho from here again. The bun cha gio dish is like a noodle salad. It fell short for me. The egg rolls were good but the noodles with the dressing tasted a bit plain. I had better. The shrimp salad was ok. There wasn't much jellyfish. If you've never had jellyfish, it doesn't have much of a flavor. It just adds snap and crunch to the dish. I had a much better shrimp salad elsewhere in the area. I've been coming here for the last ten years, thru pandemic and all. Was here in the winter and I order takeout for my family of 3. First day of spring, decided to come grab soup for dinner. Ordered 3 soups (2 beef/1 chicken), wings, and 2 bubble teas, usually around $40-50. The total TODAY was $91.55. For the same everything. In fact, Bubble tea: 2 @ $7.50/ea. ($15) wings: $16.95 soups: 3 @ $16.95/ea 82.80 + 8.75 tax= not a weeknight dinner for a family. Doubling the price on the entire menu is not worth the cost of losing customers. Phö 501 is charging $11 per soup. Not coming back. Can't afford it anymore. Highly disappointed. read more

We come here often and food is always bomb. We drove from New Haven cause we were craving good pho and we've never had any issues before until today. All the staff were extremely rude. We arrived at 8:30, 30 minutes before closing, with the intention of eating quick and leaving before closing. My partner and I have both worked long in the service industry so we try to be considerate. As soon as we got in the first thing they tell us is that we need to order now - cool, so we order within minutes. They brought out the typical water, plate of condiments, etc but when I asked further for extra things, I felt as if the server got almost angry. They forgot to bring us the extra things and didn't check on us at all. Look, I get it's almost closing time and you guys are trying to leave, but it made me feel so uncomfortable by how all their staff was behaving that I quickly asked for a to-go container and could barely say another word to them. The only person who was nice was the old lady working the register. Unfortunately another customer came in after us and received similar hostility. So overall - food is good but don't expect them to be nice and grateful for customers who could possibly send them home a few minutes late. read more

If you come to the Asian grocer (Adong), you will certainly know of this Vietnamese restaurant. Been a customer for years now, and although I have no complaints about the food, I certainly wish the restaurant was better maintained and adorned in a modern way - although they have improved over the years. Menu has plenty of options to choose from and are both in Vietnamese and English. Your orders are taken promptly and food doesn't take too long to come out. My favorites to get are their pho bowls and their pork chop fried rice - you can never go wrong with their pho soup, or their fried rice (just savory and seasoned enough without being too salty or feeling like they are too much cholesterol-inducing). Honestly nothing better than the umami wonton broth, wok seasoned/fried flat noodles, velveted beef, crispy deep fried quails with sambal and hoisin.
