Chicken and Broccoli combination with Vegetable Fried Rice

I tried New Mr China tonight for the first time and can understand why it's rated so high! My only regret is not trying them sooner. This is the best, fast Chinese food around. I picked up and was pleasantly surprised by the bright, cleanly atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. We ordered chicken with broccoli, vegetable fried rice, General Tso's (Made with white meat) and crab rangoons to give everything a try. The food was hot and fresh and the rice was not over sauced. Extremely flavorful all around! Can't say enough good.. we will definitely go back!

Crab Rangoon . . . . I sometimes ask friends what they order when they're judging a certain type of restaurant for the first time. When I first visit a Chinese restaurant, I often use Crab Rangoon as a bench mark. It's kind of arbitrary, but it's good at some places and not so good at others, and it's rare that I like a place with not so good Rangoon. I also usually order some type of pork and vegetable dish, fried rice and an egg roll. Nothing sophisticated on my first visit. Just some basics. I tried to call my usual lunch takeout place and it turns out they are on vacation. I decided to try New Mr. China for the first time. The roast pork and string bean lunch special was mostly good. The beans had good color and a snap that yielded to soft pressure. The roast pork came in the form of lean strips. The sauce reminded of the glaze that you get on boneless spare ribs, but I could have used a bit more of it. The combo came with pork fried rice and an egg roll. The rice was not my favorite. It had larger chunks of onion than I'm used to, and they could have benefited from some additional stir-frying. It also lacked the flavor of my favorite fried rices. The egg roll was very good. The exterior had great color and crispy texture and the filling (most notably shredded cabbage and pork) was savory. What's that? You're wondering about the Crab Rangoon? It was delicious. It came in a nice crispy golden triangle pocket and was filled with some sort of sweet creamy crab-ish concoction. Truth be told, I have no idea what is even in Crab Rangoon. If I was asked to recreate it without looking at a recipe, I'd probably process imitation crab, mascarpone cheese and maybe a little pineapple juice and fruit to sweeten it. But who knows?

So I'm not from the area. I'm from NYC! So wanted to see a good spot around CT area. For first time trying their lunch special pork fried rice with jumbo shrimp with lobster sauce and an egg roll. I order it thru phone at 1:03 and they delivered it 1:26! Amazing service here! With lunch deliveries! I loved everything about the food but their lobster sauce. I'm a seafood lover especially lobster!!! I love the pork fried rice it was delicious and the shrimps are JUMBO..... I didn't want to be bias and give you guys 2/3 stars lol because I love lobster a lot ! I wasn't too happy with the lobster sauce there wasn't actual pieces of lobster it was more of the counterfeit crabmeat ( which I do not like!) I love the actual real crab meat if it's not the actual lobster. My favorite Chinese food in my area at least shed's the lobster meat into their sauce. So I was a little disappointed but other than that ! The egg roll was okay too. That's why I gave 4 stars ! Everything else is great. Next time I'll just order something else that's not lobster . Again! This place is great! Wasn't overall disappointed, it's a good Chinese spot!

The vegetables are super fresh and the food is not greasy. I like to order the combination dinners like shrimp and broccoli or beef and snow peas. Portions are generous and the combos come with choice of soup or egg roll or soda. Their vegetable fried rice is so good! Delivery is fast and efficient. Great little restaurant!

I don't…read moregenerally judge a takeout restaurant by its appearance, but I acknowledge that if Great Wall were a book facing out on the library shelf, I'd go a different direction. Still, Great Wall consistently provides food that is decent to very good, at a fair price. Great Wall's service is very efficient. I live a little less than 10 minutes away. Things usually go like this. I call from from home. Great Wall answers by the second ring. The call lasts a minute and at the end, Great Wall says "10 minutes." I walk to my car and drive. I arrive at Great Wall and my order is ready. That's reliable takeout. I change up my orders a bit, but I frequently order a combo meal with General Tso's chicken, boneless spare ribs, pork fried rice and an egg roll. That's what I ordered tonight. If not for this combo meal, I probably wouldn't order any of these things. But getting these four things together often outweighs the one thing that I most want to order. Pork fried rice's stock was a bit down tonight. It's never a highlight, but today there seemed to be less pork than usual. However, Egg Roll's stock was a bit up. A wash. The boneless spareribs are consistently very good. The pork has good texture and the glaze has the level of sweetness I look for. It's hard to know how to judge the General. The outside is never as crispy as I like, but it is takeout and steam circulates when they close the lid. The sauce has good flavor. The chicken itself is OK. One thing that Great Wall consistently crushes is Crab Rangoon. The shell is crispy and has good color. The inside is sweet and creamy. Great texture and flavor all around. Great Wall is somewhere between 3 and 4 Stars for me. Closer to a 3 tonight. In any event, until another within a 600 second drive can efficiently provide better food for the same price or less, Great Taste will remain my Chinese Takeout Place, 10 Minute Drive or Less Category.

Lunch specials are smaller portion, but good for the price (raised to $12.95 now since my last menu photo) We split a lot of dishes because we couldn't decide: Wonton soup appetizer {4.5/5}: Loved how delicate the wontons were and the clear broth was great for a cold day. Tad too salty though. Lunch special --Braised pork belly {3/5}: Very tender, but kind of monotone in flavor. Very filling! Lunch special --Hot and sour gizzards {4.5/5}: This might freak people out in terms of texture, but I LOVE this texture. Good chew and pops of heat from the peppers and acid from the pickled green beans Lunch special --Cumin dish lamb {3/5}: kind of chewy and not as much flavor as I wished, but not bad! Chicken wings {3/5}: Crunchyyyy. Battered wings, not as much flavor as their chongqing chicken which I prefer, but not bad

Outside is very much a busy shopping plaza in not the best part of town. Inside is a completely different story. Very clean and spacious, lots of booths and tables. Decorated well and a lot to see. The staff were friendly but there was a slight language barrier. We fumbled through the menu and found some bites to try. Food came out relatively quick, and that was a bit to manage because there were a lot of plates brought rather quickly. We got pics and dug in. The bites were flavored well. Nothing felt too greasy or under seasoned. The white pepper chicken was very crispy. But not a lot of chicken on each bite. The sweet and sour soup was both sweet and sour, but balanced enough that you could keep on eating it. The dumplings were fresh noodles and the filling was spiced well. The only flop was the spare ribs. Really tasty sauce, but very little meat on the bone. Had to suck on the bones to scrape enough meat off to make it a proper appetizer. It tasted good, just was not easy to eat. Price for the area was high for the neighborhood. It's got the quality and the flavor to command that price easily, but it doesn't match the stores. It's really good, but know that you're getting the real deal sichuan experience. Expect some heat, some saucy fingers, and some bones, and you'll get some really good bites

Sapporo Premium Beer is Japan's oldest beer brand, founded in Hokkaido in 1876 by brewer Seibei Nakagawa. Known for a crisp, refined taste with a clean, dry finish, it is a pilsner-style lager (roughly 4.7-5.2% ABV) frequently packaged in iconic silver cans. It pairs well with Japanese food and is known for its high-quality ingredients and brewing standards. It was founded in 1876 during Japan's Meiji-era modernization in Hokkaido, it is the nation's first and oldest beer. The world headquarters of Sapporo Breweries is in Ebisu, Shibuya, Tokyo, and it also operates a renowned museum in Sapporo. As for taste, it's a golden-colored, light-to-medium-bodied lager with mild bitterness, a subtle sweet malt aroma, and a sharp finish.. While technically a Japanese beer, many cans sold in the U.S. are brewed in places like Escondido, California, and Richmond, Virginia, Key products include Sapporo Premium Lager, Sapporo Black, and Yebisu. This is THE beer to have with this cuisine (Chengdu or Szechuan). This is good! It's ice cold too! For our appetizers, we are having the Steamed Vegetable Dumplings and Spicy Flavored Jelly Noodles which are dressed in scallions, ginger, garlic, celery and cilantro. These are good! They come with soy sauce. The noodles are made from mong beans. Mung beans (Vigna radiata) are small, green legumes native to India, widely cultivated in Asia, and known as green gram or moong bean. They are a highly nutritious, versatile ingredient, rich in protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, used in both savory dishes (soups, curries, noodles) and sweet desserts, often sprouted for increased nutritional value. Mung beans are easy to cook, require little to no presoaking, and offer health benefits like antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I am also having the Seafood Hot and Sour Soup (small size). This seafood soup is good! Not too spicy! It's similar to the standard Chinese hot and sour soup in taste. For my entree, i'm having the Sliced Chicken with Crunchy Rice. This is made with chicken slices, crunchy rice, black fungus, ginger, scallions, garlic, pickled chili peppers, lettuce and pea sprouts. They fold the crispy rice and put it on top. This is piping hot! Spicy too! For dessert, we are having a Chocolate Truffle (made with Zabione cream center surrounded by chocolate gelato and caramelized hazelnuts topped with cocoa powder), Cappuccino Truffle (made with cappuccino gelato with a heart of espresso covered with coffee flavored merinique sprinkles) and Capps Pistachio (custard gelato swirled with chocolate and pistachio gelato ago topped with praline pistachios). Zabaione (or zabaglione) is a classic Italian dessert made from whipped egg yolks, sugar, and sweet wine (traditionally Marsala) cooked gently over a double boiler until light, foamy, and custard-like. It can be served warm as a sauce over fruit or cookies, or chilled as a standalone dessert, often garnished with berries or biscotti. The name comes from the Venetian word for "whipped," reflecting its airy texture. These are absolutely great!
