I made a reservation and was sat behind the bar, which is fine, but then a large group took over the table next to us and took our chairs and basically sat on top of us and when I said something I was told "well it's happy hour." Okkaaayy, so why make a reservation if you can just grab an open table at happy hour... hmmm. Our server disappeared for so long that by the time he retuned we were done with our good with no water still and we wanted to order more drinks... oh well. one of my family's go to spots, cha cha's has a fun, vibrant atmosphere with great food and great deals that are different everyday, same every week! they also have happy hour and parking is usually open in the plaza behind the restaurant. staff are always friendly and it's always a good time with great food! Taco Sets their taco options include shrimp, grilled fish, mushroom, chicken, steak, carnitas, and my personal favorite, short rib! each set includes beans and rice. Crispy Shrimp and Calamari ($14) this appetizer is one of my parents' favorites. with a mix of fried shrimp, calamari, and some spicy serrano chilis, this dish has more variety than regular calamari. the shrimp is juicy and the frying is crisp without being overdone or too bready. here they serve this dish with 2 kinds of salsas instead of marinara. Fresh Guacamole ($9) with endless free chips, this guacamole is smooth and fresh mixed with tomatoes and tomatillo salsa. i enjoy the chunks of avocado that haven't been all mushed, adding to the texture and forwardness of the avocado taste. Shrimp Ceviche ($14) the ceviche was quite sour in my opinion, but the avocado chunks in the dish balanced it nicely. however the avocado was limited so it was nice that we had the guacamole dip to pair with it as well as the chips. Here's the good. The food was good. For an appetizer, we got the chicken flautas which were delicious. For mains, we got the carne asada plate and salmon plate. The carne was tender and delicious. The glaze on the salmon was a bit too sweet. We also got drinks- cucumber marg and house marg which was very refreshing after having to send it back multiple times. Now the bad: Upon arrival, the host was super rude. She asked for our reservation but never made eye contact with us. She also told us it would be about 15 mins for us to be seated but the restaurant was nearly empty! Instead of waiting, we opted to just sit at the bar, which had plenty of open seating. At the bar, the interaction with the bartender also bad. We asked for no salt on the rim of our margs, which he ignored. When we asked that he remake the drinks, he simply poured the drinks with the salt on the rim into new glasses, but of course you could still taste plenty of salt in the drinks. When we again asked that he remake the drinks, he gave us the worst attitude, even the folks next to us at the bar noticed and made a comment. OMG! I have just barely been able to write this. I went on Thursday for my birthday. And the gift I received was flan and a case of food poisoning. I had the carnita plate my family had tacos of various meats and they felt it in their stomachs but I had the worst of it. I fear that this place is aesthetically beautiful but what you consume could bring so much harm to people who already have chronic conditions like pain and then have to go through the illness from consuming foods that look good but the chefs should know what the meat has. Stopped by this place for lunch today with a friend. My friend had been raving about this place for months, so I figured I had to make time to come by. The decor of this place is awesome. Very energetic and classy. The customer service was fantastic. From getting checked in to our waitress to the manager checking in on us was all great. Our server recommended the brunch special, but since we are not huge eaters, we grabbed that and couple other dishes. Everything was SO good! I've had these enchiladas and I'm still craving them days later. I've also had their Carne Asada and it's always very tasty. Their flan is also nice to get for birthdays. Chicken looked like ground meat but all three of them was just the meat cooked with no salt, nothing. You shouldn't have to drench your food in sauces for flavor. Ate here for a birthday dinner with a party of 10. This is my second time at Cha Chas but first time at this location. Making the reservation was easy - called the restaurant and received a text and call to confirm at a later date. They informed me of the automatic 20% gratuity and asked if I was celebrating anything. No cake cutting fee. Free parking structures nearby. The restaurant itself was very loud, I think the acoustics are just bad. No one could hear each other and the waitress couldn't hear us as well. Maybe go to the Irvine location for that reason. Otherwise lively environment. The food was mixed. My party enjoyed several drinks, the clam appetizer, and the seafood pasta dish the most. I personally had the crab and shrimp enchilada which I thought was good. While some people loved the short rib taco, for the most part the tacos were not good. The shrimp taco only has 2 shrimp and is full of mayo and onions. I would recommend ordering on of their main dishes, not tacos. The only significantly bad part of our experience was our waitress, Adriana. She didn't come see us until 15 minutes after we were seated and had a negative attitude throughout. Never introduced herself or confirmed the birthday we're celebrating. Never checked in on the table. Several times came to drop off stuff to the table and left as quickly as possible without asking us if we needed anything else. She told us they don't have Shirley temples - highly doubtful given their full bar. I asked to pay for a drink for the birthday girl on a separate tab which she denied. Questions about the menu were blown off. When we informed her of the birthday she said they don't do anything for birthdays - however I heard other parties being sung happy birthday and they asked me about it over the phone several times. Why ask if they don't take it into account? The worst thing was our card got denied the first time due to a fraud check - the person who put their card down went to the bathroom and in the meantime she came and announced to the whole table she needed a new card because the one she had was denied. Terrible etiquette. Overall, I would come to cha Chas again, especially with their great weekday deals but probably not with a large party and would hope for better service read more

This is a really fun place in downtown Brea. Seating is inside or on the patio. The patio looked good, but it was cold out so we ate inside. The service was excellent. Our waiter was so funny. We had a great time joking with him. I ordered the Cha Cha margarita which is more sour and tangy than sweet ( grapefruit and mango flavors). We started with salsa, chips, and guacamole. The chips are really salty. I ordered the three tacos combo. I'm was able to get three different tacos: mushroom, shrimp, and fish. It came with sides of rice and beans. So much food! I was really happy that I was able to try three different tacos instead of eating the same type three times. The mushroom taco was really good.
