I caught this truck during last weekends "Cincy Beerfest" down in Washington Park, though there were a few shops around that sounded really good, I have heard so many good things about C'est Cheese that I knew I had to try it. Plus they had "The New One" on their rotation that day - cheddar, roast beef, and "creamy horseradish" on tuscan bread. That, despite the oppressive heat, sounded like exactly what I needed/was craving. If I'm going to eat a big boy grilled cheese let's make it as big boy as possible, throw some fancy cream and sharp cheese on there! The service was great, smiling faces despite the fact that it was even hotter over the grill (I've worked in restaurants over fries and grills, never done it in a box truck when it's 90+ before the humidity... respect for that!), and the food came out pretty quick (estimate was ~7 minute wait, took about 5). For $7 the sandwich was a good size, and looked about perfect, little bits of cheese peeking around the golden crusted toast. Unfortunately, I think it could have used a bit more of a cook, because the cheese wasn't the oeey gooey greatness you want with a great cheddar grilled cheese, it was more like it had melted and resolidified into a thicker, slightly softer, chunk of cheddar. Likewise, the roast beef was pretty skimpy and a little uneven, the first half had a thin piece running across it, and the second half (in order that I ate that is) had a big piece doubled up over on itself in the middle, and not much more otherwise. To keep the theme going, the "Creamy horseradish" was really really good... on the parts of the sandwich I could taste it! I would have really liked a lot more than the seemingly little zigzag they had put across it, because the few pockets where you'd hit that flavor combined for a perfect bite. The one thing that was consistent, the bread was wonderful, with crisp toasted edges and a nice crunch. Everything about the food was pretty good, but just not quite right at any one time. If I were to reorder I'd definitely ask for extra sauce and maybe even pay for double meat, because this sandwich has serious indulging promise. As I got it though, not quite the "Best food truck in the city" performance I was expecting, though the staff did their best to make up for that! I'd be more than happy to try them again, but for now they're a 3.5 stars, bumped up to 4 for that service. read more

After a couple of nights enjoying Ault Park's summer dance series, I was finally able to sample a few sandwiches from C'est Cheese mobile grilled cheese food truck bus. The bus has been in operation for a little over a year and prepares all the sandwiches fresh to order. My personal choice on this most recent visit was the PHD, ham, cheddar cheese and brown mustard on Tuscan pane ($6). The mustard added a nice bite to the otherwise fairly standard grilled ham and cheese. The sandwich was filling, though a bag of chips definitely helps round out the meal. My personal favorite and the sandwich we have ordered during both visits is the Bee Sting. This sandwich combines mozzarella, pepperoni, basil infused honey with chili flaked butter on Tuscan pane ($6). The mix of sweet flavors from the honey mixes perfectly with the spiciness from the pepperoni and chili flakes. This is my go to sandwich. Our son enjoys half of the Cheesy Wonder, which is a blend of four cheeses again on Tuscan pane ($5). Again the sandwiches are pretty large, so there is no way he can finish the entire sandwich, but I always enjoy the leftovers. This is a fairly standard grilled cheese, but I appreciate the mix of cheeses to give it somewhat of a better taste. Still the specialty sandwiches are where it's at. Overall, I have enjoyed my two stops at C'est Cheese and would gladly order more sandwiches from them in the future. Get the Bee Sting, you will not be disappointed. read more

Rolling out the carpet for their debut at Night Owl Market, C'est Cheese is one of the newest food trucks to hit Cincinnati streets. The theme: you guessed it; everything is made of cheesy goodness. Owner Emily Frank returned to her hometown after living in Chicago to pursue per passion of cooking. C'est Cheese premiered its line of gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and flavored pickles. I was customer #2 to give their truck a try, and I must say, it was delight at first bite. I ordered The Bee Sting: mozzarella, pepperoni, basil, honey, and chili butter on Tuscan Pane. I also went for a side of homemade Indian Curry Pickles. Six thick slices of cucumbers marinate (and pickle) in Emily's own special sauce. She has three flavor varieties to choose from. I was enthralled with the mix of flavors in my meal, and was glad I made the decision to eat here first during Night Owl Market. The sandwich was gooey and flavorful; each ingredient could be tasted, the bread was lightly toasted, and it was not the least bit greasy. This may be the first time I say I felt healthy eating a grilled cheese. Emily and her staff are cheerful and friendly; I look forward to seeing them flourish in the city. I have been trying to catch up with C'est Cheese since last year....and I finally got to try it tonight over at Madtree Brewing. What goes better with great beer than great cheese....and grilled cheese is definitely great cheese. I tried their new sandwich the Nacho Mamma. The Nacho Mamma has LOTS of cheddar cheese, jalapeno peppers, black beans, sour cream, chives, salsa, and corn chips for some crunch. This sandwich was definitely worth the wait. The amount of cheese was just enough that it was still stringy with every bite, but it didn't overwhelm the other ingredients in this sandwich. This tastes exactly what it sounds like. It has the spice of the jalapenos and salsa along with slight flavor of the black beans and sour cream that you would expect in tasty nachos. So if you know me and my likes, I'm a carb girl. Gimme all the carbs and c'est cheese is right up my alley. I'm a fan of the classic grilled cheese and it's probably one of my favorite basic foods so when I hear that there's a food truck serving up their own take on the classic I was more than ready to experience it. While waiting in line I had an internal debate on what to get. Go for the classic "cheesy wonder" with a blend of 4 cheeses on Tuscan pane bread or go adventurous with a blend of honey mustard and ham. Not sure the name of that one considering it must be new or a test because I'm not seeing it on the menu anywhere else. So that makes it bittersweet about my decision of going for the "cheesy wonder." But also it was so good I was more than happy enjoying every one of those cheeses inside that Sammie. I really really wanted to like C'est Cheese since I'm a big fan of Tom + Chee and food trucks in general, and I like to support local businesses but my experience was not a good one. I went to this truck last month during Night Owl Market (NOM) for Final Friday, it was still early so they had plenty of food available and it was during the Midpoint Music Festival. I had early evening "munchies" after a yoga class and decided to stop by the truck on my way to a friends house. I was disappointed when I discovered that all three of their options all contained spicy cheese. I feel like they should have a basic option for people whose taste buds don't feel adventurous at the moment. Besides the three options, they didn't offer much else, just chips and basic soda. I mentioned something to the woman manning the window (who unknowingly to me was the owner), about how I wish they had the option of fries instead of chips, and she rudely said "if you want to lend me 5 grand to buy a fryer, I'd be happy to make you some fries," and this was after I had ordered, so she was being rude to a paying customer. Not cool. Before this comment, I had decided to go with the jack cheese, apple butter number on a croissant for a whopping $7. About 20 minutes later (there was no line) I received what appeared to be a "grilled" sandwich that looked like it had been made with two heels from a loaf of regular bread, and there wasn't enough apple butter for me to taste it, so I basically paid $7 for a spicy grilled cheese. I kind of feel like they make weird combinations to hide their inability in the taste department, even without the owner being rude I still feel like I got gypped. Needless to say I won't be back. But I did feel sorry for the guy that handed me my food at the table, he seemed shy and nice. read more

I'm a beekeeper and I never thought of putting honey on my grilled cheese. Then again, I never really have a hankering for grilled cheese. Until I stopped here. Nothing else sounded good at Washington Park whil waiting for MacBeth to start so I thought 'why not' when I saw the word honey on the menu. The punny name draws you in and the delicious looking menu items hooks you and you can't walk away. I shared the Bacon Me Crazy (gooey cheese, bacony goodness together...that is my happy place). There were two ladies working in the truck and they had quite a line. They were friendly and speedy. My grilled cheese was cheesey, bacony, spinachy, but it felt like it was missing something...I can't say what, but there was something else needed to just knock it out of the park with me. My favorite comfort food in the whole world has to be a grilled cheese. I could never come close to how my mom could make them. Perfect toast on the bread, gooey cheese, almost like Prozac for your tummy. C'est Cheese hits the nail on the head. The fact that I can drive 5-10 minutes from my office in the burbs and hit up a food truck makes my day. They're the only reason I check Twitter daily. While visiting the city flea, my buddy and I stopped at this awesome food truck. We just ordered the cheesy wonder, which is your basic grilled cheese. But this was far from basic. There was ridiculous amounts of 4 different cheeses, and the bread was phenomenal. Really crispy and not greasy. The service was great and the food out quick. I've had C'est Cheese on two occasions now, the first at the Cincinnati Brew Ha-Ha, and the second at the Winter Festival at Mad Tree Brewery. Let me first start by saying, what is there not to love about bread and cheese? I mean, can you really go wrong? Not only has C'est Cheese made a childhood favorite into a gourmet dish, but they've managed to indulge your adult palate while transporting you back to the time when you woke up early on Saturday mornings to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Thundercats. A taste eruption and nostalgia in one bite? It's perfection. I've tried both the Bee Sting, and the Cheesy Wonder and a pulled pork number they had for a limited time. I've seen the C'est Cheese truck everywhere before I finally gave them a try at the CFTA Food Truck Festival a while back. Nothing on the menu really sounded good to me; there was always one ingredient or component to the sandwiches that I didn't like. I asked for a recommendation and settled on the Red, White, and Bleu which I was told is very popular. It was a decent sized grilled cheese with what seemed like canned chicken, bleu cheese (duh) and minimal hot sauce. I only ate half and I will admit it was tasty but I wanted a little more spice. If you're looking for a gourmet grilled cheese experience C'est Cheese is great. If you're a basic grilled cheese fan you might want to skip this truck. read more

Gosh, I can't believe that I haven't written a review for C'est Cheese yet ! Over the past few years, Cincinnati is experiencing a very vibrant food Truck scene, along with the rest of the nation and I have to say, that this food truck is my favorite among them all ! C'est Cheese is omnipresent at all the major events in the downtown area and also in the suburbs, wherever the event involves food ! They offer a wide variety of sandwiches, the most popular among them is the "Bee Sting". I have been regularly eating at this food truck for the past two years, yet I am embarrassed to say, that I have eaten very few sandwiches from "C'est Cheese" which are not the "Bee Sting" ! As you have guessed by now, the Bee sting is my favorite sandwich. It is a grilled cheese sandwich with spicy pepperoni , some basil infused honey, and mozzarella cheese in a Tuscan pane that is smothered with butter mixed with chilli flakes and grilled to perfection. This sandwich has a complexity of flavors with the cheesy, spicy and sweet flavors hitting you at the same time ! You guys have to try it , you won't regret it ! All the sandwiches are very innovatively named eg "Green Lantern", "Ph.D", etc. The names and description of the sandwiches are neatly displayed on a board by the ordering window. The owner, Emily is very friendly and has the ability to engage each and every one of her customers in conversation. In fact, I have noticed that most of the customers that come to the food truck are regulars and the owner knows each one of them personally. The repeat value of the customers says a lot about the business. Along with grilled cheese, they also have soda, water and chips for sale. All items are reasonably priced and the sandwich in itself is very filling. I have been to C'est cheese with several of my friends who were visiting me from out of town, and they loved it as well. As an experienced "Grilled cheese" eater, let me give you a few pro-tips for this food truck : 1. They have a frequent customer card. If you are a grilled cheese aficionado, then this is a chance to get a free grilled cheese. 2. For those days when you don't feel like cooking food, I have ordered a "Bee Sting to go" from C'est cheese. I just had a sandwich packed without grilling on the truck and grilled it myself at home the next day, and voila.. I had yummy grilled cheese for lunch the next day ! I work downtown and had the pleasure of running into the C'est Cheese food truck near fountain square and think I found a hidden gem. During NOM, I made sure I tried out something, ANYTHING, on the C'est Cheese menu. Grilled cheese? What could be more perfect gooey-ness than that? The Bee Sting had the perfect salty combination from the pepperoni and mozzarella and completely satisfied my expectations of what a gourmet grilled cheese should be. Add in the surprising sweetness of the basil infused honey, it was altogether a sweet and salty combo melting in my mouth (heaven). Additionally, I just want to add in how much I love the food truck itself. I'm not even sure if you can call it a truck since it looks a little more like an RV or van, but the fun exterior design added to the fact that the vehicle isn't a normal truck with a boxy shape definitely sets it apart from all the rest. read more

I hit up C'est Cheese at the Walnut Hills Street Fest (which was awesome, by the way) and, wow! They serve up an awesome grilled cheese sandwich! As a sidenote, as a vegetarian, I've probably tried the grilled cheese at about every establishment in town, and this was among the best I've ever had. I went simple, just the 4 cheese wonder, but they have a whole range of different combinations and cheeses that I anticipate trying out in the future. I tried to hit up C'est Cheese at the City Flea a couple of months ago, but by the time I got to them, they were out of food! So luckily I got the hook up from C'est Cheese while at Brew Haha. I'm an idiot and kept saying, "We need to try CEST cheese." My friend just giggled at me. I've been to France once and I should apparently never go back lest I make a fool of myself. I was desperate... not for that, well maybe. ha ha. Anyways, I was tailgating at the UC football home opener and City BBQ was out of food and I saw no other options. I was starving and I become quasi-Incredible Hulk if my blood sugar drops, so I needed something fast. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a woman eating something cheesy and sandwich-like, and I immediately asked her where she got that, to which she replied C'est Cheese...over there. I went into a half sprint and quickly located my oasis of cheese. The nice lady (Emily???) taking my order quickly dispatched the 4 Cheesy Wonders I ordered and I became normal again and my group inhaled their grilled cheeses as well.
