My amazing pool maintenance company-TLC Pool Service and Repair -Deron! Deron is super picky and been in the pool business forever. He only works with Scottsdale Pools-Dustin. My neighbor also referred him and I watched them at work and was so impressed. They designed and built our neighbors beautiful pool and back yard. We already had a pool/spa but it needed resurfaced-going from plaster to pebble tec sheen. We also needed a great deal of tile repair. WOW! Scottsdale Pool exceeded our expectations-which were already set very high! Dustin the owner came out initially to go over every detail. He is outstanding in his field. He is SO knowledgeable and answered all of our many questions. He explained the entire process. He told us what day his crew would be out to demo the pool. They showed up at 7:00am (as soon as HOA allowed). They worked non stop until the pool and spa was completely chipped out. Everything was hauled away that day! Next came his amazing tilers-Dago and Cindy. They did the mortar, set, grout and sealed waterline tile. They also repaired tile and rebuilt the entry way. Lastly was the application of the BEAUTIFUL Pebble Tec Sheen. We actually had Dustin pick out the tile bc he has amazing taste and so much experience. I am so glad we had him choose bc it looks absolutely gorgeous! Dustin was in constant contact throughout the process. I was in awe of the entire process and the work ethic of his crews. I knew I was in good hands bc I watched a HUGE project go in at my neighbors. I certainly was in the best hands and I am forever grateful for this incredible company who stands way above the rest! He himself doesn't make those repairs but can contract someone to. I have American Home Shield so I filed a claim and within minutes, PDQ Pool Repair called me. First, when I go through AHS, it is usually DAYS before the contracted company calls, and I often call them first, so I was already in disbelief about how quickly PDQ contacted me. He let me know he was going to be in the area and would swing by in about 20 minutes. PERFECT. He got to work immediately and replaced the motor then came and let me know the work was complete. I am still in total disbelief about how this all happened- the prompt, friendly, professional service. I cannot believe he fixed it same day and didn't have to schedule multiple follow up appointments are wait on AHS for approval for a part. Earlier this year, we had an issue with the pool that needed repair and I asked Zach (Owners son and our pool tech) to have his dad call me for the repair -- never got a call. I ended up fixing myself. In July my wife traveled home and we noticed that the pool basket was missing. I had her check and sure enough the secondary basket next to the filter motor was packed with debris, never checked and could have easily overheated the filter motor. I called Zach and asked him what had happened, and he replied that the pool basket had broken previously and that he did not a replacement with him, so he called Frank - his dad was called and asked him to deliver one but he like before, never showed up. Today I get a call from Frank indicating that at the end of August they are terminating our service without any notice whatsoever. That he had other customers that were paying more thus he needed to make room for them. Not even a quote to see if we would pay him more. No advanced notice - no complaints prior - just cancelled our service knowing full well we are snowbirds and he would be putting us in a bind . I tried to reason with him explaining the past issues we had, which he turned a deaf ear. Bottom line - as Mr. Murphy said, this guy is unreliable. We did nothing but pay our bills timely as invoiced and we get this from him. Would never recommend anyone use this company. What a disappointment.

Within just a few months of completion, one small section began peeling and crumbling. The repair itself appears to be minor, but getting the company to stand behind its work has been nearly impossible. I've sent numerous texts and emails and made multiple phone calls. On two occasions, I actually spoke with someone who promised they would come out to address the issue. Both times, no one showed up. It's a shame because the majority of the work was done well. Unfortunately, quality work also means standing behind your product and responding when something goes wrong. A small repair and basic communication could have easily resolved this issue. Instead, months of ignored messages and two missed commitments have turned what could have been a positive review into a negative one.

WARNING -- Upselling Over Troubleshooting, and Ongoing Negligence…read more After months of frustration, I'm sharing this so others can make an informed decision before hiring this company. The core issue: my saltwater system wasn't producing chlorine. Rather than properly diagnosing the problem, the team repeatedly added stabilized chlorine -- driving my cyanuric acid level above 100 ppm, which now requires a partial drain to correct. When I pushed for answers, they dismissed a simple fix and instead recommended a full system replacement and conversion to Pentair for over $2,800. I replaced the salt cell myself for $400. The system worked perfectly within minutes. A basic 15-minute diagnostic would have identified a worn-out cell. Instead, I was steered toward an unnecessary $2,800 replacement. During this same period, algae developed, my pool crawler was left offline despite my requests to address it, and no one flagged that the system had stopped producing chlorine entirely. I had to catch every failure point myself -- which is exactly what I was paying them to prevent. Eight months later, it got worse. We discovered their technician had put DE (diatomaceous earth) into our filter -- a filter that is not compatible with DE. This caused damage that we are now paying to have cleared and repaired. This was not a series of honest mistakes. This was a pattern of negligence, misdiagnosis, and upselling at the customer's expense. I'm left with chemical imbalance, algae damage, an incompatible chemical added to my equipment, and repair costs that should never have existed. Choose your pool service provider carefully. We wish we had.
