Our water heater burst back in late February. We were directed to CCS to repair the damages to our home and could not be more confident, excited and very happy with the work they did. They are transparent, respectful, understanding and a pleasure to work with. MISTAKES will happen so please allow for that during you rebuild. Had David to help us with our home and was not happy at all with his service. He had poor scheduling and also didn't do what he promised. My wife and I told him that the people who put new drywall in our home didn't do a good job and that the painters he hired were not great at all. We had a great experience with CCS! We had a roof leak and mold in our sunroom and were pretty stressed about it all. David came the day I called to inspect things and we go the work underway quickly. Robin handled the mold removal and drying and he was great! Very personable and responsive to texts. Once that was taken care of, George was the project manager for the reconstruction portion. He was very friendly and explained the process well. There was some downtime before the reconstruction started because I didn't pick the new floor and paint - that is the only improvement I can suggest - they should have told me to pick the materials sooner since I've never done a remodel before. They did help me get the tile I wanted at a lower cost which I was happy about! The finished product looks great and we were really pleased with the attention to detail. They even came back to fix our french doors that had never closed properly even though they did not have to do that and was not part of the contract. After the initial mold removal we had a second roof leak and David answered my call during the record breaking rain and assured me it would get taken care of. We own a home in Camel Valley / Del Mar and had a first floor water leak that required renovating the entire first floor. This first floor renovation involved the entire kitchen cabinetry and kitchen island, 1/2 bathroom, dining room, living room, great/family room, all flooring, and drywall/painting. At the beginning of November when we first noticed that water was leaking from our second floor bathroom down to our living room, we had no idea where to begin. My wife and I were very unimpressed with David at CCS. They were recommended by the remediation company that fixed some water damage under our kitchen sink. One of the first concerns I had with CCS is that according to the CCS profile on Yelp it says "Staff Wear Masks". Well this was not the case when David came over to our home on multiple occasions. One would think that in the middle of a pandemic, a contractor would be wearing a mask in your home. My wife and I also thought David was being a bit judgmental with us as well. He had asked us if we used our microwave, and made some offhand comment about how bad microwaves are or something like that and he doesn't use them. When it came to getting an initial quote from David at CCS, it was like pulling teeth and he did not provide an estimate on time and seemed to get annoyed at me when I was asking him when I would receive the estimate a day after he had promised to have it to me. After all of these occurrences, my wife and I lost faith in CCS as they did not seem pretty professional and appeared to be "flying by the seat of their pants." Several days after receiving the final estimate from David at CCS, David sent me several texts following up seeing if we wanted to move forward. David was supposed to provide some sample of cabinets and countertops to us and after a month of dealing with him, this never happened. When I told David when we would get samples, he said he would provide the samples after we decided to move forward with the work. At this point I told him we want to hold off on using them for now. I promptly received a text from David telling me I owed him a $450.00 "scope writing/negotiation fee" for providing an estimate and talking with my insurance company. He said he had mentioned this when he had first come out to our house, and that is not true. He never said anything about this fee or provided any documentation detailing this fee. Honestly, if any contractor wanted to charge me a fee to provide an estimate or talk to my insurance company, I would tell them to take a hike. This is the cost of doing business. I would think they would make up this fee when you are paying them 10s of thousands of dollars to remodel your kitchen. I told David that I would not be paying this fee as he had never mentioned it or put it in writing. He got pretty upset at me telling him that and I told him that I would not be doing business with his company. read more
