Great new spot that opened on Valentines Day. I like the ambience because the restaurant is split into 3 sections. You have the restaurant side with booths and tables, the bar side with high top tables and bar seating and then a patio for the smokers. We went on Friday and they had a DJ on the patio, and a hookahs in the bar area. Now the food was delicious!!! The bar manager Ivy was amazing she helped us choose drinks and even made us some customers drinks. It was a very chill vibe. It works for either date night or family dinner. Appetizer - Skins & Queso! 10/10 (Fried Chicken Skins) Main - Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya! Chicken was cooked a little too long and was dry, but still good! 7/10 The drinks were legit! A decent neighborhood place to have a few drinks and munchies with friends. They offer happy hour drink specials, hookah and live music or DJ on Saturday evening. I went on a Friday evening after hearing so much online talk, initially it was pretty empty but it certainly livened up as the evening went on. Staff are very friendly and attentive, the space is kept clean, and the patio was comfortable. I really enjoyed the drinks, they tasted good without overtly trying to kill my liver with each sip... but those are the ones that go down smoothly and sneak up on you! The food menu is a decent mix of cajun and southern comfort, I personally was not excited about the flavors nor the portion size , but the price was standard. We went for the third time thinking that surely they would have worked out the kinks as a new business but we were wrong. The place was empty we were seated right away but didn't get a waiter until we got up to leave. The problem the first visit was the same we got seated right away but Waite staff didn't come for a good 15 minutes. The food was expensive but decent (not worth what we paid) the food came out no joke 45 minutes after we ordered. I had braised short ribs over mashed potatoes, no other side and it was 30 bucks. The drinks were $15 I got a skittles. It was all diluted with soda and ice and it cost $15. My husband got the stuffed blackened chicken it cost $25 again with rice no other side. My family and I came for brunch today and had a really good experience. We were looking for a place to eat after going to the movies and I happened to find this spot just by. searching for brunch spots and we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was clean, the service was great, the drinks were tasty and the food was good! We tried the blackened catfish, shrimp and grits, collared greens, etoufe and fried catfish. Everyone loved their meals and we decided that we would indeed return. I wanted to try their bread pudding but it wasn't available, so we'll definitely return. The owner introduced himself and made sure that we had everything we needed. The vibe was really nice and I'm glad that we found a new place to visit when in the area. I hate to leave this review but I'm bothered beyond belief. The first issue is that anything that is sold strictly on weekends need to be specified on the menu. The second issue is about 15 minutes after I order, the young lady in the kitchen tells the waiter that the ribeye is frozen and they just put it on the grill, the wings are going in right now and give them a little more time. The waiter is doing his job trying to save face but it's not working for me. Next, there is this tall, young man standing and peeking from behind the wall, everytime I look up, he's staring directly at my table. This young man is literally picking his teeth right where they are putting the food up for the waiter to pick up. There is one young lady who walked out of the building a few times, once we got up to leave I noticed that they are running another business next door. Now I get it but you can't be attentive to cooking if you running from business to business. When my steak did come out it was clearly overcooked and I asked for medium. The reason my steak and the wings were so horrible is based on this young lady not having the time to cook them correctly. Flavor profile was great, was nice and savory and well seasoned. Man, somebody grandma had to be in the back cause the mash potatoes and gravy was just the right level of creamy and tasty at the same time. Meat was cooked to perfection and just melted off the bone tender! The wings I ordered as an appetizer were cooked perfect but were a little over seasoned (little more salty than what I cared for but my wife liked them). Peach cobbler was good but not enough cobbler juice. My wife and I both enjoyed the bread pudding as well. The amoretto sour was too strong but lemonade was on point. Water was purified ( had to mention this cause more and more restaurants are serving tap and I'm nose up bout my water at 39 years old. So very please to know they serve clean water here.) Our sides were the greens and black eyed peas and both were great. Greens might be the best I had. Great texture, seasoning on point, right amount of juice in bowl to drink afterwards too. Wouldn't order the shrimp fried rice again though. Wasn't terrible but wasn't good either. Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the hummus! Hummus and chips surprised me! Had a great time on both visits. Atmosphere is relaxing on one side, and the other is more of a bar scene. The mixed drinks are on point and made by cocktail bartenders who can customize whatever you like. Ivy is amazing! The real secret though is the food! Oh WOW. I wasn't really hungry so I got the sliders which was not good, the meat was hard barely edible and the fries that came with it was over cooked and more like chips. The pasta my daughter got was okay, not worth the price and they had just run out of shrimp so she got one. the cornbread was cold and the rice was over salted.
