I can't thank Alberto enough! My car wouldn't start but I was able to get it to Cermak Auto Center just before it closed on a Saturday. Alberto explained the process and cost upfront which was much appreciated. He called me on Monday as promised and told me that the part I needed was only made by the company and it was on back order. He assured me I wouldn't be charged a storage fee, as it was beyond my control and that he'd search high and low to find the part - searching car lots, calling around to dealerships etc. He handled the communication with the dealership regarding the placed order for the part and when I was able to reach someone from the corporate office for the car company and they offered to get a rental, pending a separate diagnosis, Alberto was happy for me and didn't try to charge beyond we'd discussed, particularly the storage fee since he now wouldn't be paid to do the repairs. He cared more about my convenience than making a buck and that's superb customer service in my book. I'd recommend this place and Alberto to anyone. read more

This is an update to the review I posted 4 years ago. I've now been coming to Cermak Auto Center for over 4 years. Their service is great, they've always done a great job fixing my car and the prices are reasonable. The biggest reasons I continue to go back are because I trust their work and i appreciate that they do what they can to accommodate my needs. Most recently, I needed a new side mirror for a car that's in Seattle, WA. I sent Alberto a video of the damage to the mirror and he did all the work to procure a new mirror, spray paint it, package it so that it's easy to fly with, and met me on a Sunday to deliver it because that was the only time that worked. They take the time to clearly explain (to someone with no understanding of mechanics) what is being fixed and why. They do a great job communicating cost breakdown. Additionally, they are flexible and work with me to pick parts in my budget and prioritize repairs. The work they provide is consistently well done and timely. I use my vehicle for work so I can give tight deadlines that they can meet. If they happen to have a lot of cars in the shop that day they are great about scheduling repairs and getting them done quickly. Bad experience, takes money knowing customer is willing to pay, inspection should be at a reasonable cost, unethical practices just to make a dollar. Went to get an alignment at other place and they inspected for 20 and would not align until problems where fixed, tried explaining situation for another alignment and no reduced rate, they charge 75.00 for alignment and Marquette frame and alignment charges 55.00, I'll go there. read more

They kept my truck for over a month and still couldn't tell me what the issue was. During the time they held my truck, I never once got a call from them letting me know that they were working on it. The Long Con. Alberto is the kind of businessman who will gain your trust and then rob you blind. I met Alberto about two years ago when I started having problems with my Jeep. By apparently being very professional and knowledgeable about cars and showing me exactly what parts needed to be replaced and why he convinced me to spend thousands of dollars to fix a car that I ended up having to sell for $300 when it left me stranded in New Mexico last August. When I called him about this situation he told me that he felt responsible and that he would help me find a reliable vehicle for cheap. He ended up selling me a car for $2800 (he wanted $3000) in November, which I had to take back to his shop many times. Everything started to break down, I only drove this car once a week but I spent $1000 in repairs until I had an accident because of its defective brakes. When I was on my way to his shop the transmission cable stopped working. He then kept the car at his shop without communicating with me for months. He never returned my calls. I had to show up in person. He told me that the brakes were fine and that the specific problem I had experienced (the brake pedal frozen, impossible to push down) had never occurred when they drove it around, and so the brakes were fine. He also told me that the transmission part was impossible to find because this car (a Honda Passport) was an old model that is out of production and that they had been looking for it for weeks and weeks. I told him that I had no intention of ever driving that car again, anyway, because no matter what he said the brake had frozen under my foot and I would rather not endanger my life again. He looked at me like I was an insane person. He also made inappropriate remarks about my physical appearance. He said that someone as beautiful as me sure needed to have a boyfriend. He talked me into the idea that he would find me a new car of higher value, and that I could trade in my old car. After this I waited and waited. I called him many times to no avail and when he finally answered he told me that he was in the process of getting a lot of cars at auctions. Then nothing for many more weeks. Finally I called him and left a voicemail saying that he had kept my car for four months and that I was tired of this situation and that I didn't want a car anymore and that if he had indeed given me such a GREAT DEAL (since he even then insisted that the car was worth more than $2800) wouldn't he please just buy this car back from me, which I had hardly driven at all in the few months I had owned it. A few days ago I got a call from one of his minions who said that I could come pick up my car. Which I had made clear I didn't want back. In disbelief I went to the shop. Alberto was not there. They told me that they had more or less fixed the transmission cable (not quite, since that piece doesn't exist anymore. They "rigged" it). Again they said that the brakes were fine. And the car had a "check engine" light on and the ABS light on. Still, disgusted with these people I decided to take the car and drive away, because I never want to see them again until I die. Yesterday the transmission cable stopped working again: when in drive the car acts as if it was in neutral, so I need to put it in "3" to be able to move. Plus, I expect the brake to stop working randomly, so I'm always ready to pull the emergency brake. Some fun driving! So yes, please go to Cermak Auto Center if you enjoy being sexually harassed, being treated in a condescending, patronizing way and being robbed blind. read more

It's always very intimidating to go to an auto shop. I can handle going in for a basic oil change but when it comes to anything more than that I am very apprehensive. I highly recommend this place for your cars medical needs. You will be greeted by a professional and knowledgeable staff. All recommend work will be followed by very detailed information and very competitive pricing. My car was fixed with new brakes and rotors and I feel safe driving my car once again. DON'T TRUST THIS SHOP!! My girlfriend works nearby and it was convenient for her to take her car in and have a tire repaired. After repairing the tire they told her she immediately needed new front and rear brake pads and rotors at a quote of about $400. She took her car to her "trusted" regular mechanic for a second opinion and he informed her they were lying. She has over 60% pad life remaining on her front and rear brakes. Which for her is at least 2 years of driving. If you are looking for an "HONEST" mechanic to work on your car this is NOT the place. read more

Happy to be using this shop right in the neighborhood for my 2010 Subaru. The work was done well. I'd have given another star had my brake pad and rotor resurfacing been road tested before I picked it up. This would have saved me the inconvenience of a second visit to get the front rotors replaced, which were unsafe at high speeds. This place deserves not one star. I walked in on September 24, 2016. The person I first encountered was Alberto. I told him I needed to have the transmission on my car looked at as it was not running. He said he would arrange for my car to be towed to the shop and give me a call when they had answers. I handed him my key and left. He took down my information, but didn't even bother to ask what kind of car he was looking for to be towed. That should have been my first sign. I notice my car is gone from the private parking lot it was in. I'm sure it was Alberto. Because he said my car would be towed. A week goes by, I called the shop 3 times Everytime going to voicemail. I finally get a call through. It's Alberto. He tells me my car never came to the shop. And that someone must have really needed a Honda. He didn't care. Just like that. It was over. Not once did anyone call me ever. He didn't even bother to reimburse for nothing. Now Im stuck with no car. How does that even work? DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PLACE. it needs to be shut down. Steer clear of this con artist. I live in the south suburbs and saw their ad for discounted wheel alighnment. Brought it in there and waited a good couple of hours while I thought they were doing a wheel alignment. I noticed the mechanic taking my car for a test drive and it sounded like the wheel alignment they did was actually worse than when I brought it in there. I could hear the car squeaking all the way down the road. The mechanic brought it back in to the bay and continued to work on it. He handed me a print out claiming my wheels were aligned. When I drove away, I noticed my car veered to the left hard. These guys DO NOT know what they are doing. Stay very far away from this shop. read more

Do not recommend,they've been trying to figure out my check engine light for months,about $600 later its still on. I have been very patient because I live near, I don't think they have the knowledge or equipment to pinpoint the problem. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE My car was misfiring I took it here because it was close to my house after paying a $65 diagnosis fee they told me it was my air compressor and thermostat that needed to be changed they also recommended new antifreeze and treatment and they were going to add freon total coast $768. I agreed. After all the repairs were made my car was still misfiring and they claim that my car was blowing out the new air compressor so the kept my car for further diagnosis after almost two weeks they gave me back my car claiming that the computer needed to be updated for the misfire and they didn't have the software too and that my evaporator core needed to be changed and that was going to be $1000 extra I didn't have that kind of money In the end they unplugged my air compressor so now I don't have air con and I still had the misfire. After talking to several mechanics they all agree that the air compressor had nothing to do with the electronics or mechanics of the car to cause a misfire. I was sooooo mad I didn't want to pay for something that I originally did not go in for. I went in for misfire not because I was not getting any cold air. I ended up paying the $768 because honestly I was afraid that they might further damage my car. Beware this is a customer predator Shop If you don't know anything about mechanics they will take your money and have no shame about it. They talk a good game like the snakes that they are. This place does not know what their doing, they don't keep you informed and in the end you might end up worse than what you came in. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. FYI: I took my car to CARX and the misfire was caused by faulty spark plugs and spark plug wires they have been changed and now my car runs great. But I still don't have any air con. read more

Just had one of the worst experiences of this place I had been coming to this place for over 3 yrs and never had I ever had a job done with the worst results they tell me they replace all these parts and that's why labor cost was so high and when I take it to my other mechanic spot to double check there work I find out they didn't replace all the parts that they had told me at first and that's not all never receive a receipt for the work they performed telling me they would email me a receipt and kept calling for a couple days until a mechanic decide to finally pick up the phone and tell me to call later cause no one is in the office that could help me get my receipt so never again will they receive any work from me again and worst of it all is that personally the owner told me after all this that he hopes that I never bring my vehicle here again that goes to show he has no shame to scam you and steal you for your money read more

I first visit Cermak Auto Center about 9 years ago. My first experience was for and issue concerning my vehicle passing the emission test. I receive a filer for the emission test site recommending me to cermak auto center, so I drove right over. I was greeted by a young man by the name Alberto Morales. I had been to many auto repair facility's but was always curious if they were honest as well as being attentive to their customers. For example: providing not only honest prices, but good customer service. I can say that Alberto & his staff provided all of the above from the first visit. I said to myself this could be the beginning of a long relationship and it has been up to this day. I thought this guy is young but he displayed all the quality that I expected from auto service center. Like they say your company is only as good as the employees that work there. Not only did I developed a lasting relationship with Alberto but as well with work-men-ship. As we all know cars can be unpredictable because of unseen reason,even after you just fixed one problem another one could be on its way. That's cars for ya!!! As of today I'am still a loyal customer to Cermak Auto Center. There is not other center I would even consider.
