My poor lil Focus needed its A/C recharged (looked at, examined, whatevs) like STAT. I refused to drive it in the 100 degree weather, ya kno? I called up Belmont Auto (thanks to another Groupon deal) to see what time I could make an appointment for. Here's a snippet of the convo: Me: I'd like to make an appointment for Saturday for an a/c recharge and oil change. Employee: Ok, what time do you wanna come in? Me: Uhh, what time do you have available? Employee: (without hesitation) 8am Me: (pauses for like 30 seconds) Ummm, I guess that's cool. Employee: Early, right? Me: Yeeeaaaah, but I need my a/c fixed! It's hot! Employee: No clubbing, alright? Hilarious! It's like this man knew me and my late night Friday habits. Needless to say, I ended up busting up in there at 8am on Saturday, still slightly groggy from the night before. Everyone there was super friendly and amusing. (Case in point, I think one of the owners was given the above mentioned employee crap for watching cartoons.) I really appreciated that the man working on my car (who I swear was the owner) showed me what was wrong with my wheels, my rotors, when I should expect to replace them, etc. Seeing is believing! It turned out that I needed a new a/c compressor (meaning the recharge alone would save my car). They quoted me around $400 and I just had them change it on the spot. Even though the part took a little longer to get to the shop than expected, I didn't mind that much 'cuz they were very apologetic, professional and nice! I'd be happy to come back here and get a quote on future services! Major props: When asked if I wanted anything to drink, the employee dude actually went out to buy a bottle of water! How amazing...and appreciated as I was...*ahem* dehydrated from the night before. read more

Think it's about time I wrote an update for Belmont. Been using the guys at Belmont for all my car's need (major and minor) for about a year now and I still have no complaints. I am a busy, busy person. I like the fact that my time is respected and the service is done in a timely manner. I've gotten everything from oil changes, tire rotations, brakes, and even the gear selector on my car replaced here. I've never felt that I was being "taken" or people weren't being honest with me. I've always had very positive interactions with the owner, Gary, and I appreciate that he (and the rest of his staff) are extremely nice and very respectful. I don't really foresee going anywhere else for my car, and I'm very satisfied with the service I've received. read more

Probably the most unprofessional auto shop I've ever been to. When dropped off, the Audi A6 had a damaged bumper and a check engine light on, but was functioning properly. It took more than two weeks to fix the front bumper, when previously promised that it'd be taken care of in two days. We originally asked for electrical service on the car too, but after keeping the car for more than two weeks they gave it back to us with the new bumper and said they didn't know how to fix the electrical. After we picked it up, the car made it about three miles before it died in the street. The little that they did do to the electrical caused it to lose power almost completely. In their defense they did provide a complementary battery and after much frustration, they provided pickup and drop-off service to try to compensate for all the mess. They offered to take it to another mechanic, but we were reluctant to do anything else to the car for the time being. All said and done though, they dropped off a non-functioning car. Now, we've discovered that they lost our warranty, registration, insurance, and all other documents in the vehicle. Would not recommend. read more

Most auto repair shops give the industry a bad name and rightfully so. Most of the time you have to be leery of them and many times get a second and even a third opinion. Since I have discovered this place, I only need one opinion and this is the opinion of them. I was thoroughly impressed with my entire visit here: the cleanliness of the shop, the friendly service I received and the price of the service. All of the interactions that I observed between the staff and the customers was professional and honest. I am pleased that this place is so close to home. Had my clutch replaced and these guys almost killed me. I had to go out to the suburbs to visit my Aunt who was and has since died of cancer. When leaving the hospital parking lot my right axle boot and tire just fell off. Fortunately I wasn't going 65 mph on I 90 at the time. I had a very positive experience with they guys over at Belmont Auto who were all professional and friendly. They were the low bid for repairs on my Regal and when I called to make an an appointment they were very accommodating to my schedule. I brought it in and we talked over where the damage was and what I wanted done. Once we were all on the same page they told me it would be 3-4 days and even though I didn't bring it in until noon on day 1 it was still done in 3 days. The repairs were exactly as agreed, there was one minor issue which I pointed out that they took care of on the spot. Price was exactly as agreed and the car looked great when they were done. They even did a great job cleaning up the inside and giving it a much needed wash. I would highly recommend them to anybody. read more

I found out about Belmont Auto Enterprises through Groupon, but they are now officially the only place I will take my car. They've done oil changes, put in new shocks, and significant body work for me, and each time I have been more than satisfied. Gary and the guys are knowledgeable, friendly, and seem to genuinely care about the quality of their work. This place is great because they don't talk down to you like some mechanics do, but take time to explain and show you things so you know exactly what is going on. I had an issue crop up with my brakes, and I returned to Belmont Auto. I had another remarkable experience, with the owner, Mr. Kinsler. Upon my arrival, one of his staffers did a quick analysis, then they explained to me exactly what the problem was, how they would fix it, and how long it would take me. I didn't even have to come back at a later time, because they were able to service my vehicle at that time. You hear the horror stories about mechanics ripping you off. But, my experiences with Mr. Kinsler and the rest of his staff have been outstanding. I trust their experience, their expertise and -- just as important -- their pricing. I also see how shops service particular makes. My wife has an Acura, and I have a Saturn. Belmont handled both with no issues. I would highly recommend giving Belmont Auto a chance to serve your car needs. read more

I had a great experience with these guys, particularly Gary, the owner. I bought a Groupon for an oil change. In the days leading up to when I was going to go in, my car started overheating a lot. When I finally took it in, Gary said it was not to worry, and that he would take care of it, and it wouldn't be expensive. All true words. I had a leak in a radiator hose and was about a gallon short of anti-freeze. He fixed it up and topped me off, and had it ready the next day. He also gave me a list of other things that needed fixing, but clarified that he just wanted to let me know what was wrong with the car, but in no way was I obligated to have him service it. He said if I knew someone else I could take it there, he just wanted to let me know. Very much appreciated. Gary seems like a very reasonable and down-to-earth guy. I'll definitely be going back there if I need an honest assessment. If you go in, ask for Gary. read more

I am very satisfied with the work and integrity of Belmont Auto Enterprises. I am not one who usually writes reviews, but Gary and Belmont have given me a great reason to write a review. After my initial visit to Belmont I had some issues with my transmission following a flush, and Gary called me personally after reading a review and worked things out with me. He could've ignored my issues, gotten an attitude with me, and told me that my issue was none of his problem, but instead he was fair and took responsibility for what was going on with my vehicle. We were able to reach a reasonable agreement on how to move forward, and he was more than kind to me. I respect people who do great work and I respect people even more when something goes wrong and they're willing to take responsibility for it whether or not they believe it was their fault or not. That's good customer service and that's good integrity. He could've given me the "I do this for people all of the time and no one comes to us with issues" line or the "well, you're the only dissatisfied customer" line, but instead he explained to me (professionally) what the possibilities were and how he was willing to work with me. Gary is a good guy and because of him I'd consider coming back to Belmont Auto Enterprises as a regular customer. read more

So... I was completely distraught when I wrecked my brand-new 2010 Honda FIt! Damage to the driver side door. This is the worst thing that could happen, as I work in real estate, and need my car! I took it to get estimated to a Body Shop in the west-loop, and I was gonna have it fixed there as well. There were some things that bugged me about that shop, so I called around to the different body shops that my insurance company also worked with. The owner at Belmont Auto, Gary K. actually answered the phone and took the time to answer all of my annoying questions. He was very helpful and patient. He works like lighting speed-he had my door order the next day. He even called my insurance company to ask were my check was. When I called, he was either there and I spoke with him directly, or he returned my phone calls very quickly. I dropped my car off and they had it all fixed and the door painted in less then two days. The car looks better then it did the day I drove it off the lot, I'm not kidding! They even washed it. It was for sure needed a washing too! So Gary and Staff is efficient, and just really awesome people in general. They take great care of their customers. I had to heckle Gary a bit to get my car back-I can't work without it- and he made it happen in no time! I am happy to know that I have a body shop to count on for the life of my Honda. If your car needs taking care of, it is in your best interest to go to Belmont Auto Enterprises. They are friendly, professional, honest, and very knowledgable about their trade. Everyone I spoke to was wonderful, but Gary (the owner) and Carlos are especially great. I came in with a Living Social deal for Pothole Damage Safety Inspection. After that was taken care of, they let me know I would probably need new tires soon but did not pressure me into making a purchase that day. I asked for more information about the condition of my tires, and they showed me where they were worn down and took the time to teach me about tires so I could make an educated purchase whenever I was ready. I was so impressed with their service and the price they quoted me for 4 new tires, I went ahead and got it done that day. While I was waiting for them to finish working, they answered all the questions I had about how to keep my car in great working order. There was one tiny mishap where a tire pressure sensor accidentally fell off while putting the new tires on, but they took full responsibility and resolved the issue immediately. These guys are clearly passionate about their work. I highly recommend them and, while I don't look forward to my car needing repairs, I do look forward to doing business with them again. So I had a gas pedal that was stuck to the floor. I had to have it towed to this shop and of course expected an arm and leg to get it fixed. That was not the case Gary came out reached under where the pedal was and reattached the tension cable in a matter of seconds. He told me there was no way he was going to charge me for a two second fix. Unbelievable ! I can bet that any other shop would've took the truck in and tried to make the situation into an easy profit. I've also come in before for brake work and they handle the entire situation with my warranty company and getting me a rental without a hitch. Wow...everyone always worries about trusting the guys working on their cars...these guys are 100% legit. I brought my 05 Chevy Cobalt in for body work. Rather than saddle me with a bill, they quickly told me it was a muffler problem and gave me an easy fix I could do myself. Did not charge me a dime and referred me to a trusted muffler place, all in about 5 minutes. I would recommend these guys to anyone. Straight-shooters are such a welcome find when dealing with cars! Belmont Auto did an excellent job with the repairs on my vehicle. I believe in constructive feedback, and there were a couple of things that could be improved so: 1. Callbacks. When a customer schedules a call back, please make sure to follow through. . even if just to say 'we're still working on getting an answer for you'. 2. Do not over promise and under-deliver. When I am told my vehicle will be ready in 2 weeks, and it takes a month, that doesn't reflect well. I would rather be told a conservative timeline than an encouraging (yet inaccurate) estimate. That being said, the repairs were very well done, and the shop likely didnt have much control on the timeline considering my terrible insurance. 4 stars. read more

I will spare many of the detail and just get my review up. I went for an oil change, and radiator flush months ago. They didn't fill my radiator back up, which lead to the radiator itself almost exploding on the freeway. When I went back minutes later I was told that they didn't top off the fluids, despite the fact it had no fluid in it, so by top off I think they meant to say, refill. Later on I found out they apparently don't top off any fluids, windshield washer, brake, power steering etc. So, don't count on that being in their service, however they will try their best to find things wrong/serviceable that do not pertain to the service you are paying for, which means it took two and half hours for an oil change and radiator flush. When I came home and wrote a negative review they offered to win me back by offering free brake pads, which I declined, I thought it a nice gesture but figured that was enough and maybe it was a mistake, also I would rather not have someone who forgot to refill a radiator touching my brakes. Then upon finding more things wrong with my car I reposted my review, at which point the owner wrote me on Saint Patrick's Day, when they were closed (do the math on that, what are most people doing on that day) a condescending email where he questioned my intelligence and belittled me. I then of course took my review down again not wanting to deal with them any further, until today when I finally decided, that even if he emails me another belligerent tirade, someone needs to leave an honest review on them for any other current or potential customers. On a follow up note. Anyone reading this should know Belmont wanted to charge $250 for rear brake pads. Its not a bad deal, it's only a hundred more than doing it myself. But, if you want to save money and go over to a great place. Go to Green Wheels at 1540 N. Western. They just changed both rear brake pads for $180. Make sure you call and set up an appointment. read more

I have to give a negative review to this place for the lack of customer service and unusual work practices. I was sent here by an insurance company to get my car's bumper repair from an accident. My gut instinct told me not to leave it here but if I wanted my car repaired I had to do it. I am not sure if most of their positive reviews on here are from legit people or women who don't know much about cars(no offense ladies). But my experience at this place was similar to most of the negative reviews instead. I dropped my car at shop with them and was told it would be ready in three days. After the three days passed I called back and asked if my vehicle was ready to be picked up. Instead they told me that it will take another three days because other parts needed to get ordered. I was not told specifically what parts. But I thought it was weird because it was supposed to be a paint job. I still agreed to call them back within three more days. When I did call them back the second time. They gave me another excuse that my car was still not ready due to the cold weather conditions and that it could affect the quality of the paint. Then they asked me to call back in a few more days and check to see if was ready then. There goes another red flag because we were having really good weather that entire week. I guess they waited until last minute when it got cold to do the paint job. At this point my car has been with them about a week and a half. After nearly two weeks they called to let me know my car was ready. When I got there to see the paint job it did look good. Except for the part where the bumper wasn't fully waxed and polished. So I had to wait another fifteen minutes for that to be done. No biggie. As I waited I did notice one of the bosses who works inside the office was getting impatient and rushing the workers to finish up polishing my car so that another car can come in. I thought that was rude because it felt like I was being kicked out right after I had already paid them. Finally, after the workers finished cleaning and polishing the bumper. I drove my car out of the shop and I did noticed that my car was pulling to the right side of the road and it just felt weird. I didn't really give it much thought then and figured it was probably just the snowy road. That is until a month later when I received a ticket in the mail from the city of Chicago for $250 dollars. For parking illegally in some alley miles away from where I live. When I saw the location where this took place I realized that my car was supposed to be in the shop during that time. I called them and asked for an explanation. The guy on the phone just told me that when you sign the release forms you give them authorization to drive the car and that he was sorry that happened. And that in the city of Chicago it's impossible to not get a ticket with them having so many cars. When I asked why the the car was so far away from the shop and who was driving my car during that time. He said that it happens for many reasons and that all of that information is disclosed in the agreement when you sign the repair forms. He also seem very eager to hang up the phone. I am not exactly sure what they did with my car for those two weeks or who was driving it in potholes. But now I'm in need of a wheel alignment. They also didn't care to address the ticket issue and easily just washed their hands by telling me that once you sign the release forms it is not their responsibility of what happens to your car. This place is shady and I would think twice before recommending anyone to them. read more

I find it very unsettling that after "5000" oil changes I end up getting this bad experience. I'm not trying to fabricate anything. I'm just stating the facts and my experience. 1. Yes, I was explained that I needed the oil pan replace and not to drive it until I fix my oil pan. Which you smoothly mentioned you can fix for $400, but it WAS AFTER I CAME BACK WITH THE COMPLAINT. 2. Yes, I signed a waiver saying that you guys are not liable for this ghetto rig on my car. After all you did tell me about signing this waiver AFTER you did the job on my car (Which was suppose to take 15 minutes and took 3 hours) and you were about to hand me the keys.)....hmmm I wonder what would of happened if I didn't sign it? (Slick move on your end) 3. So, this is what you call going out of your way to help people? Geeze how unfortunate.. I'll take it as a lost. Won't be coming back... The guys at Belmont auto are great. This is a shop that you can trust to get the job done right. My 2016 Subaru crosstrek was in a hit and run half the car the destroyed. They went the extra mile sourcing all genuine Subaru parts and making sure there was no evidence the wreck had ever happened. Mike went out of his way to make sure the job got done to factory standards. I can't recommend them enough for major collision work on new cars. I bought a Groupon for Belmont Auto.... always a bad idea as a way to check out a new company. My car AC just stopped blowing cold air, so I got a Groupon for an AC system "tune-up" at Belmont Auto. They did the dye test, recharged/refilled the system, and it seemed to be working. Well, one week later the AC was "broken" again. I had only used it once. I took it back to Belmont Auto, eventually. They re-tested and said I had a leak in the AC condenser. They replaced it. And it lasted for less than one summer. Then the AC was dead again. So I took my car to a new place to diagnosis it this time. They said the condenser was leaking everywhere and I needed a new one. It appears that Belmont Auto had placed a defective part. I called Belmont Auto to tell them about it and ask what I should do. Was passed from one person to another who expressed concern, and said "Can my boss call you when he returns?". Then no call back. I would not use them for my bicycle or to fix a flat. First when I had an accident the tow truck driver delivered my vehicle to Belmont and while in the hospital I received a call in the emergency room stating they have my car and will do the repairs. I had several conversations with the owner dealing with my issues from the start and since they started I had to pay for the service that had been done and the storage. Caught in in a ambulance trap they did the work and didn't fix the repairs (13k of work) and promised repairs on the points that wasn't done correctly. Brand new car still has damage from the accident. Poor work and service. Showed all concerns before the ok and after they push you out the door with sloppy work. read more

Awful experience. Owner was rude from the get-go, and the moment he heard groupon he basically lost interest in serving me. Kept me on hold for ten minutes and basically avoided entertaining a groupon. Then the woman on the counter said they do groupons on saturday only!! Only during a four hour window!! Where as the fine print on the groupon does not say Saturday only. So that was fairly deceptive and unprofessional. Why do a groupon when you cannot entertain it? Another business that does groupon to increase sales but then chooses to yank the customer around. Avoid this unethical place. read more

Horrible customer service. Call 1 - insurance company sent me to them. First guy was nice said he just needed estimate from the insurance company and he would call me back with next steps. Call 2 - tells me I need to wait until after holidays to make an appointment which is fair. Call 3 - tells me I need to sign a Repair Authorization form and could I come in to do that? Uh no, since I don't have a car!!! I ask him to email it to me. No email sent. Call 4 - finally emails me the form. Call 5 - mam we need full payment before we can work on your car. Seriously?!!!! They couldnt do the flush without it as it was leaking everywhere... Gary ordered the part. i left my car. They game me a ride home. My car got a ticket, but they even paid for it. After calling around for quotes on a wheel alignment, i found this great place. i checked out the reviews on yelp and ended buying the yelp special offer for 75 dollars worth of work for 50 bucks. It turned out I needed a front and rear alignment. Instead of doubling the quote I was given for the rear alignment, I was only charged an extra 15 dollars, a savings of 60 dollars!! I was also I informed and shown that I had muffler issues an was given a quote for the work. There was no pressure to get the work done there and the owner called over to a muffler repair shop down the block and told me I should go there. Saved me well over a hundred dollars. It was a great experience, I will definitely be giving them more of my business. Honest people, friendly, and quick. read more
