I stopped this Ceremony location this past Saturday afternoon, and surprisingly, it wasn't too crowded. It's one of those "abandoned warehouses turned coffee shop" with a traditional-raised panel replaced with glass as windows. There's "Coffee should be something special" painted boldly on the exterior and some trees to provide shade for outdoor seating. The inside was nice and cool, and the barista was helpful when making recommendations for the pour over. POUR OVER - MKT PRICE I got the Colombia Los Pinos (Washed) which has grapefruit, dark chocolate, and creamy tasting notes for 6.75. I really enjoyed it, as it was fruity and not overly citrusy with a bit of bitterness. Each pour over comes with about 12 oz in a glass carafe that you can poor into a ceramic cup to enjoy. I loved this pour over and would recommend drinking it in the cafe to avoid getting that unpleasant waxy taste from the paper cups. Overall, great coffee shop to spend time in with good coffee. Ceremony is definitely one of my favorite roasters in the DMV, and I try to make time to stop by whenever I'm near one. read more

The inside is very pretty but the drinks were not worth the prices at all. We got matcha lattes that weren't made properly made. They put the matcha powder directly into the milk and mixed it up. It was so chunky, we gave them back and I got an earl grey tea beverage that was so nasty, it did not get drank either. Whether or not you agree with certain policies, a coffee shop is not the place for activist-led interference with government operations. I stopped by the Ceremony Roastery this past week when I was in Annapolis for work. The location is where they (you guessed it) roast their beans, so even though the building is large, the seating area for enjoying a coffee is on the smaller side (maybe four small tables and a bar area). But the service great, the coffee is as good as you'd expect at a Ceremony location, there's ample parking, and the building smells great. Definitely a place I'd be happy to return to. read more

Order a cortado with oat milk, banana praline latte, and purchased two bags of beans to pull shots for home. My cortado was delicious delicious. I was told the latte was tasty as well. I've started pulling shots with the bag of antithesis and the espresso has been delicious. I look forward to trying out the synthesis soon enough. read more

Nice space and good coffee, but service and attitude leaves something to be desired. Rolled up at 3, minimal selection of baked goods at that point but asked if I could have the lone chocolate croissant warmed up (it had clearly been sitting out for a while). I was told curtly that "the toaster is turned off at two." Like what? It was sitting right behind her and there were no other customers. It was an hour before they closed. When I said I was curious as to why, the server said something about how they were usually finished with bagels by 2 pm, which didn't seem relevant, and seemed annoyed to be asked. I passed on the $7 cold croissant, so the shop lost that sale as well as leaving a bad taste in a customers mouth. I try to patronize small artisanal coffee shops as opposed to chains to support local business, but one would hope to have a warmer experience with a more customer friendly attitude. read more

Many other coffee shops in the D.C.-Baltimore area brew their beans. It's from this location that they roast all of their beans. My little family stopped in on a Sunday morning while on our way to Rehoboth Beach. The space is well designed with a large garage door that opens during warmer weather. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Their coffee menu is always on point with several seasonal drinks throughout the year. My wife ordered a decaf latte and I a vanilla latte. Modern coffee shop with beautiful outside garden. Lovely outside dining area. Fresh roasted coffee fills the air. The greeting was welcoming. The Terrapin iced coffee drink came with a touch of old bay. The Terrapin iced coffee was very good. I was hesitant to add the old bay but glad I did. The mint strawberry lemonade was refreshing and tasty. The mint leaf was a nice touch. Only disappointment was that they ran out of baked goods. read more

Ceremony Coffee on Russel St should change its name to "Ceremony Public Dog Park." Though Ceremony serves food, dogs roam freely inside inside the small coffee shop, shedding their hair on tables and in the food. Dogs wander behind the service counter, and drink out of the same mugs and glass cups as customers (the previous manager named Katie said dogs at Ceremony can share customer glassware because its washed after dogs use it. Dogs sit on and lick food off of the same tables customers use for eating and drinking coffee. Dogs of any size are allowed to wander around without leashes. Animals are given priority over hygiene. One couple even regularly puts their disgusting dog throw toy, covered in dog saliva, on the customer tables. read more

Ceremony Coffee Roasters is a small-batch coffee company that provides, single origin, blends, espresso, and decaf options. Nestled in a business/warehouse area, there are only a few spots to park your car. The cafe is small, providing a modest selection of baked goods and their menu of coffee and cold brew. I was interested in checking out their small-batch cold brew, which came in a can and is in a mini fridge by the entryway. I tried their Seasonal Cold Brew (single origin that had coffee notes of bing cherry, vanilla and being creamy) and their Nitro Cold Brew (a seasonal blend that had coffee notes of milk chocolate, a sugar cookie, and being creamy). I thought both of these were just okay - they were strong and could have complemented a sweet baked good well. I personally didn't taste the 'creamy' aspect of it. We also had a regular croissant to go, which was a little dried out and cold. Service was friendly, and the cafe itself is small and had limited seating. Cool spot, definitely worth the hype. They've cultivated a very hip vibe and the coffee is really good. No indoor dining right now (and no bathroom) but there's a lovely patio out front where you can enjoy your coffee and treats. There wasn't a ton of pastry selections when I went--only 3 options I think--but the blueberry muffin was really really good. It was bursting with blueberries. I also got a pour over which they brought out to me. It was very delicious. I was considering buying some of their nitro cans but I was worried they'd go bad if I left them unrefrigerated til my drive home. Next time I'll bring a cooler. One thing I found very cool was that this place backs up to a little dead end in a neighborhood. I had a nice stroll around it after finishing my coffee. read more

Came here for some coffee one morning a few weeks ago when I was in town with the bf and a friend. As the name would suggest, they are a coffee roaster, and it looks like their coffee is served throughout MD and it looks like you may even be able to find their products at specialty markets also. They have their owned cans of nitro cold brew, as well as bags of beans, merchandise, and of course, freshly brewed coffees. I decided to try one of their spring signature drinks: the Spring Fling. I also got a can of cold brew to go. The bf got an iced drink, and my friend got a matcha latte. I really liked the Spring Fling. It wasn't overly sweet and it tasted as flowery as you would expect, without it being soapy or too perfumey. My party enjoyed their selections as well. I tried their canned cold brew the next day, and it was pretty good as well. I suppose if you're a fan of their coffee, this location would probably be ideal if you wanted to pick up their freshest roasts and beans. read more

They are a small batch roastery where they sell their beans, espresso drinks, and treats. The roastery is modern industrial which is seen in their design and packaging. The coffee bags have a clean and simple design. You know exactly what you're getting when you buy one of their bags. Their coffee descriptions are fun and they describe their flavors like dessert. We both wanted cold coffee during our visit and chose the white shakeratos. It's a shaken latte and it's delicious. Just the right amount of sweetness. The coffee itself is delicious. This place is so beautiful on the inside! I got the Holy Basil Tea and my sister got the Matcha Lavender Lemonade. We both enjoyed our drinks and they were served quickly considering the tea had to be brewed before serving. The indoor seating is open but has been spread out to adhere to social distancing guidelines and the store does not accept cash at this time. The baristas were all very friendly and were patient as we made our decisions (which took a while since we were new). I would definitely recommend this stunning and unique establishment to anyone looking for a place to get coffee. read more

This cute, hidden coffee joint screamed hipster to me - but in a very good way. It's hard to locate this little shop, but it's worth a visit! The roastery is available for viewing, kind of like a brewery or winery. It's cool to see where the magic (beans) happens! There are seasonal specialty drinks, and I'm a sucker for anything trendy and unique, so I had to go for the "Tokyo Spring" which is green tea-based. I'm weird and asked for a cat-like foam design, so I got a "cat paw." I'll let you decide what you think it looks like. Either way, it was really sweet for the barista to entertain my Instagram-fueled desire. Very cute coffee shop with unusual and delicious drinks. Indoor seating includes a long tall table and three small, 2/3 person tables. There are 3-4 additional tables outdoor and the area has a sail shade cover. Parking is plentiful. Now my favorite neighborhood coffee shop. I had driven here before not realizing that you can access it walking via McGuckian street or russell via car. They do have a couple spots for parking I'd you drive coming from russell ave, but I highly recommend walking. There's a lovely setup outside for sitting while you wait or to enjoy the weather when it's nice. They also have a menu posted on their window wall so you can decide what you want before entering. Pre COVID you can enter and order at the counter, but depending on the day they have a table right by the door for ordering so you're not entering all the way. This also prevents any waiting inside for the coffee. They have a shelf for contactless pickup and online orders as well as hand sanitizer. You are allowed the bring your dog in for ordering and the wait time is usually no more than 7 minutes. There are pastry and granola/hot oats options for food, but if you're going on a weekend I recommend ordering online for pickup. Home delivery is also an option when ordering at least $100 but it's a great alternative if you miss the coffee shop experience but want to quarantine. If you're in the neighborhood, take a stroll and get a cup of joe! read more

Went here twice while in town visiting family. Both times I bought the Black Shakarado with and extra shot and a touch of cream and a touch vanilla syrup. It was so, so good. The coffee is strong and had the perfect roasted flavor with almost a hint of chocolate aftertaste. It was the perfect pick me up each morning. They offer some snacks like trail mixes and breakfast items but I did not indulge in those. The service was friendly and they were clearly helpful in helping me choose what I wanted since I came back for more on day 2. This location also includes the roastery, which wasn't roasting at the time but was really neat to see and added a nice touch to the atmosphere. Looks like this place was converted from an old garage bay, and I love the industrial feel of the place coupled with the big windows giving a ton of natural light. I got the nitro cold brew and they didn't bat an eye at me requesting to use my Keep Cup to keep it eco-friendly. If I weren't getting on a plane later, I would've definitely bought some of the nitro they sell by the can - it was really good and they have beautiful packaging. I set up shop in the corner and worked for a while, and the seats against the wall have outlets available for those needing a charge. There was soft music but it was quiet enough to get a lot done without distractions. Glad my buddy recommended this place to me, and I'll be back if work ever brings me to the Annapolis area. read more
