I was very skeptical of this place because it is so unheard of to have 4 different noodle dishes from all different countries (Vietnam, Japan, Malaysia, and China). Incredibly friendly, super cool owner Ambiance: This place stood out to me. The outdoor and interior design was handmade. I personally like this better than the beef noodles but that's only because I'm a huge coconut milk curry fan Beijing beef noodles $15 (8.5/10): This was yummy, the beef cubes were nice and tender. The soup feels more complete after putting in chili oil, the oil is more for flavor than spice. Wished this contained a lil more veggies in it Pho $12 (6.5/10): As a Viet person, I hold pho to a high standard and this falls short. It's not bad for $12 but the traditional flavors aren't strong enough in the broth. The flavor felt lighter and weaker than normal pho. The meat cuts are different but they're good. Lots to be improved on this if it can be as good as the other noodle soups I had here. Five-spice braised wheat gluten $7 (7.5/10): This appetizer has a sweet and savory taste to it. It contains kao fu, wood ear mushrooms, and boiled peanuts. This would complement better with a dry dish than with the soups in my opinion. I did a some research on the owner, only for me to learn that she's not only a chef but also an artist! I'm assuming she's the creative director of the restaurant design which explains the cute cafe aesthetic. The food was really tasty and cheap. For $14, I get a heaping bowl of Laksa Noodles that is protein packed and flavorful. Although, it would've been great with some additional bean sprouts, something to offset the savoriness of the dish. The five stars this time were for the shitake mushroom and soy-clam mash. The spicy one with the red oil in it is the right one. It is similar to the orange sauce at La Victoria in that it makes everything else taste screamingly good. The restaurant served it in a chilled bottle, but I found out later that eating it chilled wasn't the best thing to do. To unlock its full potential, I had to take it home first, to sear it in a hot skillet, to the point where it caramelized and stuck to the bottom. This lifted the already addictive flavors into even higher orbit, like how it works with sizzling black bean sauce with scallions for Dungeness crab or Pacific rockfish. There was something else in the mash which made it special, but it could have been scallops, or dried shrimp maybe, or crab. The three look similar when mashed up. read more

Nice little place with noodles and dish options. It's near the SJ city hall and has an artistic interior. The owner and staff were really interactive and friendly. The lady told me they just opened on the 2nd and there are 3 $6 coupons if you order through their app. There are also self-kiosks and a self-serving area for tissues and utensils. I asked for spicy recommendations which led me to order the beef noodles. There are many seats and you can sit anywhere after ordering. The order came pretty fast and they gave me some free sides(spring rolls and cheese wontons) while I was eating. Those were crispy and good. The owner and staff were excited to see us and helped us with ordering from the menu. They gave us free drinks while we waited, which was very nice. The drinks were tasty and refreshing. Our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the cucumber salad, tofu and mushroom, Pho, and popcorn chicken. We all enjoyed the flavor, freshness and presentation. This is one of the new kids in downtown SJ so we wanted to go check them out. I'm a huge noodle soup girl so I was excited to see a new noodle spot open up downtown. The woman working was so excited to see us walk in and was so sweet and welcoming. We were sadly the only ones there. We ordered and paid for our food through the self service station. When your food is ready it's brought to your table. We ordered 2 noodle soup dishes: the spiced Laksa and the savory Beijing beef noodle, chicken wings and the golden cheese wontons. We sat at the bar top at the front of the restaurant facing Santa Clara St. It was perfect! The food was delicious! The woman serving us was very nice. Wanted some noodles! Ordered everything else (and a little noodles! Haha) I ended up ordering the CEO without noodles and going with bao which could be stuffed with the signature CRO dish. It was incredible!! The bao was perfectly fluffy, warm, and sweet. The savory umami filling matched the bao perfectly and the chili crisp on the table had a wonderful smokiness I wasn't expected that really elevated everything. The person I was with got the hot pot which came with a really delicious slightly sweet broth that was incredibly addictive. It reminded me of a less intense sukiyaki and the noodles had a very balanced texture that reminded me of a Chinese style noodle but still had a bit of chew. I also got to try the cream cheese wonton, which I usually don't care for. Here it was perfectly crispy everywhere and the cheese filling had this perfect density that was still somehow airy, I guess I do like cream cheese wontons when they are made well! The place itself is very cute with a classy feel, while avoiding feeling pretentious. I really enjoyed it! And our service was also great! Definitely get into this place while you can because I can see it being packed when people find out about it. I've tried this place 3 times already. Sukiyaki and noodle dishes are generally super good. Good mean, clean food quality, and a portion is pretty satisfying. We walked into this restaurant at 12:30pm Saturday and we were the only customers in the entire restaurant. We ordered from the Kiosk for beef noodle soup, and Japanese Udon with Beef, coke and juice. The restaurant has funky ambience with a little bit of Flintstone feelings. The server came and provided our food. But we noticed, there was no beef in my udon, and the coke wasn't served. He fixed it but the coke and juice had all sticky liquid on the bottom and on the side. So when we held the drinks, our hands became sticky. Fine, we had our sanitizer and went to the front to find napkins to clean the surfaces of the drinks. Now the food scoring was low because beef noodle soup was very bland with no flavor. It was like chicken wings with a spicy tempura panko on top. Really tasty, unlike anything else I've had. I love noodles, so when this new place popped up on Yelp I got super excited. At first glance, was a little wary of the minimal number of reviews, that it's labeled 'sponsored', the menu being comprised of different ethnic noodle types, and the tacky name. Decor was a little different, but I found it inviting. Reservations aside, I'm always down to try new places before I place any judgment, and boy was I glad I did. I went with the Beef Noodles (niu rou mian), and ordered at the self-serve kiosk. The noodles were the thin noodles that I like, and were cooked perfectly. (What's the Asian equivalent to 'al dente'?) Despite what others have said, the broth was flavorful with just the right amount of kick, so I'm guessing they took the early criticism to heart and adjusted accordingly. Now to the true test, the beef. Typically, beef shank is used and this is usually where others make or break this dish. Beef Shank is easy to mess up given it's natural character of being tough. I'm not sure if shank was actually used because what I ate just melted in my mouth and I couldn't get enough of it. Yes, that does mean there's fat or marbling involved, but whatever they did to prep that meat got me to immediately commit a return visit. I'm not one to write a lot of glowing reviews, but didn't want to gatekeep this one as I would love for this place to stick around seeing how hard it is for small businesses (especially new ones) to survive in the area.
