CENTURY LINK SUCKS! I got their services because it was a buddle with Direct TV. When Direct TV came out to install at my apartment, the satellite couldn't be put in properly so I had to cancel. Century Link SUPPOSEDLY has a service where if you cancel in the first 30 days then the customer owes nothing. I swear to GOD I have had the same conversation with TEN different people within their company about getting my charges taken off. It's now 3 months later and they are threatening to send me to collections. SUCH A SCAM. Don't ever buy Century Link. I am writing this review in regards to Centurylink and not a specific store. I live in the Phoenix, AZ metro area and I will say this: if you have other options, explore them. I have had payments not applied (taken from my bank account, electronically, mind you), I have had representatives hang up on me, and I have had the usual misinformed or not-very-well-trained customer service agents constantly. As recently as November, Centurylink processed a payment from my bank account, then sent me a notice stating they could not locate my account; wait, what? Yes, you read that correctly. Next, I've been working for 2 weeks to have them apply the payment they took, yet they continually "lose" the information I send them. Next, I've had multiple (and I mean "multiple") customer service agents hang up on me or send me back to the generic call queue because they did not know how to fix my problem, I promise it is not due to rudeness on my part. I actually have a record of speaking to 7 representatives in an hour and a half trying to get me to the right department...needless to say, I never spoke to the "correct" person. No customer service agent in their customer-service area seems to know what they're doing. I understand many companies have scripts, etc. that they utilize, but when I say this, I mean they are contradictory and literally [typically] have no clue. You really need to dot your i's and cross your t's when dealing with customer service. I recommend using the online chat version and having EVERY chat emailed to you for your records; you'll need them when you cancel service. This department and area is in the negative "stars" on a 0-5 scale. As for the techs and the tech support group: they're great! Every single tech I've had sent to my house for issues has astounded me with their knowledge of any issue I've had. At one point, I had a tech at my home for 8 hours bonding a circuit and rewiring something...in the middle of July (I'm in AZ, remember?). He actually called in and spoke to managers due to the mess that was created with my internet service and complete disarray of equipment and wiring, etc. I wrote to his manager, as well as called the company to comment on this guy. Seriously, he was great. These guys are like a 5/5 star rating. Tech support: Hard to understand, but if you go step-by-step with them, they typically can help with troubleshooting and basic equipment issues. I'd give them a 3-4/5 star rating. read more

If you're considering signing up with Centurylink, save yourself some time and money - buy a hamster, have him run around in a wheel next to you to generate power and plug your computer into that. CENTURYLINK MAKES COX LOOK GOOD I am in the process of moving in with my parents to help them with their care. If I could give negative stars I would. We switched our internet service from the pathetic 1.5 MPS download rate to Cox Internet at a minimum consistent 80 MPS at about the same price. We were if we cancel the internet service their email address would be deleted. Which is so incredibly stupid from a business stand point. I guess they never heard of a company called Google that uses users emails to mine data and make money..... So instead of canceling the Internet Service we are keeping it until we transition to a gmail address. The canceling if the internet is not the biggest issue I have with CenturyLink. The real issue is during this process the inept person we were dealing with canceled their phone service. Which has now been out of service for three days. The absolute most frustrating thing is during this time my 90 year old mother passed away, and my father has been unable to use their house phone to call relatives and friends. I requested 6 month home internet service and made it clear when I was ordering my service. I said I will be leaving the state in 6 months. When I canceled my service they sent me a $176 penalty bill for "early termination". When I called them to explain my situation they said they don't see a note in my account about 6 month service request. Incompetent or unethical either way I got screwed. read more

Worst customer service experience of my life. Pray you never have to call them. Their call center is the most incompetent and annoying place I've ever had to call in my life. I've had to call several times over the years and every experience trumps the previous level of frustration and stupidity I had to deal with. There is always a long hold time before you even speak with someone who will then transfer you to another department with an equally long hold. If your lucky that is the right department and you'll just have to deal with a person that knows nothing and cannot help you in a proper efficient manner. If not you have to be transferred again and hold for another ungodly amount of time. They need to put money into training and hiring competent people. We were quoted an estimated CenturyLink monthly bill of $54.95. Bills for past year are $105-$125. More than double. Spoke w CenturyLink on 9/29/2016 and was told we were being erroneously overbilled for $10 a month and that was all they would take off the bill. It's no fun trying to call them either. WARNING!!! Reasons why you should not make the mistake of using centurylink: 1. The chat agent lied to me twice. The first lie was that he would set up the account to show I was using my own modem, this way it wont charge me for leasing a modem. I found out later on the first bill, it was charging me for leasing their modem. The 2nd lie from that chat agent, I asked him how to make sure I can get the full 40mbps speed for my plan, because I was using comcast before and the speed was not nearly as fast as they advertised. The chat agent told me I would need a bonded modem to get the full 40mbps. I found out later from the technician that installed the line, he explained the bonded service means it splits the 1 line of 40mbps to 2 lines of 20mbps. And this slowed the speed by 50%. 2. Although my plan was only $29.99 a month, my first months bill came out to over $116. Besides the installation fee $59, there were many hidden charges with maintenance fees, surcharges, and taxes adding around another $19, which is the equivalent of paying for an upgraded plan, without receiving the upgraded service. 3. When I decided to cancel the service, I asked another chat agent and an agent at the local centurylink office if there would be a charge for early termination? And both of them said there shouldn't be any charge as long as its cancelled within the first 30 days. But when I called another agent to make the cancellation, that agent told me they would send me a final bill. I asked that agent about the 30 day period and in the end he said there wouldn't be anything to pay, which turned out to be a lie. I found out today I have to pay $83.16 for the days I used the service. Why didn't any of these agents inform me about this earlier? From this experience I would never use this company again, and will warn others to stay clear, I think a more accurate name for this company would be CenturyStink!! read more

Century Link Customer Service can only be compared to the United States Postal Service - they both suck. I have been trying to have my phone and internet repaired since Oct 19. My first repair ticket was cancelled for no reason. I have been given a number of appointments with no repairs done. I now have an appointment scheduled for Nov 5 at 430. Worst Internet Company Ever!!!!!!!!! I had no issues with the actual Internet or Prism TV. It is their billing practices. After a year, my rate went from $88.00 a month to $188.00 a month. I didn't catch the change at first and with late fees ended up with a bill of $376.00. They were very rude and gave me no options. I ended up paying the $376.00 and then cancelled my account. Ordered Centurylink 1gb Fiber. After installation, Centurylink Speedtest reported only 280mbs download. Installer said that was normal over WiFi even though the upload speed was showing 600mbs! Later testing with an ethernet connection showed 200mbs down and 900mbs up! Since I might be able to live with that if they were reversed, I called to have a technician out to fix the issue. Long story short after 5 weeks and 3 service calls, I am still stuck with 200mbs down with no date for repair or even if it will be repaired! This speed doesn't even come close to their satated 80% speed guarantee. read more

When I ordered the service I was asaured that I could cancel my service in 9 months.... today I called to cancel my service, I got the runaround and at the end of my conversation my account is still activated and I will be paying until month 12. I explained to the agent on the phone that this was not the case and that I was assured that I could cancel my services at anytime when I ordered them. I'm disgusted with this company. If I don't pay they'll report me to the credit bureau. CenturyLink customer service stinks and I would give it a minus 5 if I could. In August, after I was transferred to at least 4 different people, I was told I could put the service on suspension due to my moving to a different state, but was not told there would still be a charge. I had auto-pay and for 2 months paid the bill for which I received no services. Today, I chatted online and officially closed my account. I will follow up tomorrow to be sure it is in their records so I don't get another bill. I've never dealt with such incompetent people as CenturyLink. AVOID THIS COMPANY. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!!! I have had issues from day 1. The tech showed up 6 hours late and had to return the next day and was 3 hours late again. Customer service sends you in circles. NONE of my bills have been correct. They have been 1.5-2x the promotional rate. I have called 4 times to correct and they are still wrong. This last time, they offered to comp me a free dvr upgrade and instructed me to trade in my box at a local store. I brought the box and the store said "I don't know why they would have told you that. This is the worst internet service provider. We pay for 60mps, and even with a wired Ethernet connection we still get 2mps at max! This ISP is a scam! When we called customer service they told us it was our fault the internet wasn't working. How? I've gotten to a point where I only use a wired Ethernet connection to connect to the internet because wirelessly it won't work and the customer service refuses to send someone to even take a look at it! This ISP should get fined for false advertising!I only get 2mps on a wired Ethernet connection when I pay for 60mps wireless internet and their customer service refuses to help. I hope this helps anyone reading this to not buy Centurylink. Just get Cox. Their 30mps is a better plan because it's more consistent. Ordered Century Link when we moved to a new place because they had a good promotion. Ended up NOT having the promotion added to my account. Bill was consistently almost double what it was supposed to be each month. Would have to call in and spend hours on the phone they would eventually correct the bill, and tell me they added the promotion and my next bill would be correct. This continued for three months. Finally had to cancel because they just refused to try to correct my bill or issue any credits anymore. Do NOT deal with them at all. The service itself was great. I really don't do reviews often, but the numer issues I have expected here since beginning with them has finally prompted one. I recently had my internet service switched from one location to another, took a week to get someone out to practically plug in the modem and router then the same day I spent from 6:40pm to 10:50 pm with online tech support trying to get an issue of no internet connection resolved. I ended up speaking to 6 different people (and had to repeat the same information and verification that I provided previously) up until I received one that actually seemed like he knew what he was doing, and actually reviewed the past conversations as their auto generated message says their doing with each change over to a new person: Lester P. Through that entire time previous representatives did not provide much help other than "please unplug and replug" (three different times with the same person mind you) and it took till 9 to get ahold of Lester who ultimately wasn't able to fix the issue (but damn, did he try, and I'm sincerely grateful for that) It's really a shame that techs don't ensure that the internet is working before they leave. Now I have to miss additional days of work (until sometime between 8 and 5 pm 2 days from the time the initial tech came out, when another tech is supposed to come out and fix the issue) solely due to the lack of follow through on the techs end. And I understand it may not be entirely their fault, that some blame rests upon their customer load, but that is the responsibility of CenturyLink to balance and hire more techs to service more customers in a timely fashion and the dispatchers job to properly route those techs (I used to work as a mobile tech, I know the bull they have to put up with). I am deeply disappointed in CenturyLink as this is not my first rodeo with similar situations and I am sincerely debating on changing providers. The ONLY thing they have going for them is the fact that they have a price for life contract, but paying near $100/month for 100Mbps of practically dial up, fax sound speed (shout out to the other older than dirt people on here) shotty service kinda outweighs that price for life benefit read more

Let me walk you through my experience. 1st Customer Rep: Tells me I have to cancel service and start a new service since I moved? Gets super hostile when I tell her no I don't, centurylink.com said different, call center must have been in Pakistan because she was soooo hard to understand 2nd Customer Rep: says he can cancel it and reissue it, says it will take a couple days to cancel and couple to start up again 3rd Customer Rep: service didn't kick on that day, call to verify, tells me that a transfer was never issued, said they issued it for our new home 4th Customer Rep: again DID NOT start service, call, say it is active and then send me to tech support 5th Customer Rep: I call and say that tech support hung up on me and need to be transferred, he said that I did not have active service, I demand a supervisor Supervisor: says the idiot sales rep cancel my service but reissued it at my old place, wtf, then he says it was a huge mess, issues me a 55 dollar credit and says a tech will be out the next day The day the tech was supposed to come, internet did not kick on again on Sat like scheduled. It is now almost two weeks later and I call on Mon (today) to check that he came out. They say it was completed and I verify the address and he went out to MY OLD ADDRESS. I ask to speak to a supervisor to cancel, after waiting for 20 FUCKING MINUTES, he hangs up on me. Nevertheless, CenturyLink is the worst company and they hire employees that really aren't that bright. I would give this company a -10 stars if I could. Seriously, don't waste your time. read more

They do not care about their customers. They are SNEAKY! Go with them and you'll feel DUPED! We signed up for a 24 month contract and our bill was consistently ~$108-$110. Right at our 1 year, I just noticed the bill went up to $173.14 and it has gone up more and now consistently $187.57...Meaning, I'm being charged ~$63-$77 more per month than expected for the past 9 months??? Long story, short: We believed we were locked in for a monthly bill for 2 years for $110 and we were not. Centurylink provided me information which has left me feeling duped. I feel this was sneaky and I'm very frustrated. This is what I heard when speaking with CenturyLink: You signed a 2 year contract but it was only 2 years for HALF your package...2 years for the DirectTV, 1 year for internet. You signed a 2 year contract for the DirectTV, but the price increases HALFWAY through your contract. You signed a single contract but if you want to renew it, you need to negotiate with TWO different companies. A very nonsensical contract. They were not willing to work with us. Oh how I wish I could give zero stars! Where can I even begin? Firstly, I've been on auto pay for 11 months. I've had no need to log into my account at all until this month, where money has been super tight. Luckily the site saved my login and password. I checked my due date - Dec 10 - and unenrolled in auto pay because I was going to pay the bill a day or two late. My yearly contract is up in a month anyway. This morning (Dec 8) I checked my bank account and they've taken the money out for my bill and I got a nice insufficient funds notice from my bank (mind you I have the cash in my wallet I just haven't made it to the bank because I thought I had time!) I call Customer Service and speak to two different ladies before I start taking names of the SIX people I got passed around to in the HOUR I spent on the phone with them. Everyone was super quick to pass the buck. Basically their answers were oh ____ department can help you. *Transfer* Oh _____ department can help you with that. *Transfer* One guy, Jose, was a total jerk, I can't even believe he makes his living in customer service. Nobody could explain why my due date says one thing but they take the money out before. All I wanted was a real black and white answer. Or a document that explains it. One guy flat out refused to send me anything to my email, like I'd asked for something insane? I think that was Jose. Lol. There was a bunch of nonsense I caught them in and their answers made no sense. (Finally speaking to a manager who knew a teeny tiny itsy bitsy bit more than the other reps, but was still clueless, he states that the due date is for non-autopay customers. This makes zero sense as to why I have a non auto pay due date but have been on auto pay!) I won't get into anymore of it. But it is super safe to say that their call center sucks, has rude people of which work here in the East Valley - how scary! No one will help your situation...they just keep trying to find ways to defend their system. The manager got my contract end date wrong, by a month, couldn't add the bill date correctly and I had to correct him few times to keep the Convo less confusing than it already was. One rep said he was sending me an email with some personal security id in it and I never got it. I asked the manager how long it takes to get that email, he says a couple mins. I say a couple like 2 or a couple like 15? He says 15. Well that's not a couple, but I still didn't get the email and it's been an hour and a half. I asked the manager what he could do for me to keep me as a customer, he said oh that's not my department. And offered to transfer me to "Loyalty." LOL!!! Don't waste your time or money with this company. The internet service is bad enough and it's backed up with uneducated employees that lack integrity. I feel so sad for this company. Miserable final experience. what happened is i turned in my equipment on 4/2/18 and was given a receipt. Then I called to cancel my service because I was moving to an apartment that only allows for cox communications. I was told no early cancellation fee. Not only was I charge a cancellation fee but they have no record of the phone call and said my service was not cut off until 4/25. I was charged $200 for the cancellation fee and an extra $95 of service even though i did not have the modem or remote or any of the equipment for 23 days. calling customer service to a run around joke. i can't believe they dont have notes or a record of when customers call in, especially when it's to cancel read more

Today 9/8/17 was the first time I called to get any help from tech support. My modem C2100T was not working. The guy tried to fix it. He tells me I need to get a new modem which Im already thinking there might be a fee since im replacing it. He transfors me I get a lady her name is Natalie id # AB87925 ( yes I did get it to have it so i can know exactly who helped me ) I give her my info I let her know what the tech rep tells me. She informs me my warrenty is expired and I only have two options get a new one which i did a year ago. Or pay every month for the modem. My warrenty expired 8/2/17 thats a month and some days. I understand that but its my first time calling to replace it. I told her it should be covered through them its their device its defective and she should honor it she said no i asked her if i can speak to her manager and let me tell you he was the WORST he made me feel beyond stupid. He was hispanic as am I his name is Jaime and i had to hang up on him after i said im going to cancel my service and thanks for the help. He was so RUDE worst customer service.
