Trying to work from home and my internet keeps going out. That kicks me out of my company's server and I have to start all over again. This happens many times A DAY! They said it was my modem and they would overnight a new one. 3 days later I finally get it (keep in mind, I'm still working from home). when I called about a credit, I was refused. I get it all plugged in and configured and it works great...for a couple of hours. When I called back for the 5th time to try and resolve this the gal told me she couldn't look up my account by my name or address. I don't have a phone so I don't have that memorized and I have autopay set up so I don't get a bill. When I told her the last 5 people I've talked to was able to pull it up using my name she hung up on me. At this point I have had to call too many times. Next time I call will be to cancel after I get set up with my new provider tomorrow. It's one thing to mess with my Netflix, but it's a whole new deal when you are messing with my job. I am lucky to have one these days and I will not tolerate this in anyway, shape, or form. I found a great deal for a simple internet service from century link for only $35 per month. Sounds perfect, right? Wrong. While the internet service worked fine for the several months I had it, getting it started was a ridiculous process. I lost count, but I made a minimum of 7 or 8 calls to century link customer service just to get my internet STARTED. Basically they told me completely incorrect information each time I called, including wrong username, password, router type to purchase, etc. Furthermore, I got transferred to approximately 5 people per call and had to repeat my questions multiple times. Disconnecting my service when I moved out was once again, a nightmare. Serveral calls, around 30 minutes each (on hold most of the time), approximately 4-5 customer service representatives per call. And just to top it all off, they gave me an incorrect (too little) refund for the 22 days of the billing period I was cancelling. Don't use this company. I would never recommend century link for internet service, even if it's a good price. I wish I could give this company 0 stars. read more

Working to establish CenturyLink service has been one of the most painful processes I've ever dealt with as a customer. 1 hour 45 minutes to get an initial appointment to set up new service. Set up to rent their modem and they shipped it late and to the wrong address. Technician showed up to the house to establish service, left without establishing service, and closed the ticket. If you like poor communication, lack of follow through on commitments, and account errors (billing address that wasn't even my address). Without hesitation, this is the worst customer experience I've received in the last 5 years and a one star rating is being generous. Even the service tech, who I spoke to before he left the site without establishing service, acknowledged their customer service team was awful. When I called to have another tech going out to establish service I spent 45 minutes on the phone with them and then they placed me on a "brief hold" where I was promptly disconnected. If you have any other option, select it over CenturyLink. read more

Crap service as usual. I wish there was another option other than Cox. My internet connectivity is a hot mess. I keep losing it. I called and he removed into my modem and saw all the dropped connections and suggested I get a new modem. I paid to get a modem overnight hoping that was the issue, but it never showed. I work from home full time as a database programmer, I can't work if I can't VPN. I called, the wait was 45 minutes so they suggested I download the app and chat. I tried to chat, she was clueless and suggested I call customer service, which started my 45 mins all over again. My time is just as valuable as theirs and I don't appreciate them wasting it. Disconnected service in October. Still being charged every month even after four months. Wasted a lot of hours with customer care who themselves cannot figure out what is happening. Every month, they promise, I will not be charged again but, yet I was charged. Still, have to receive 270$ from them. CenturyLink bundled with DirecTV is the worst company I have ever had The Misfortune of dealing with. They have done nothing but overcharged me they have sent bills that are incorrect with way more more due than was due. No access to customer service the two companies act like they're bundled but they do not even speak and when you have a problem you are sent into the Oblivion of being tossed between the two. They have no relationship and there is no communication and when there's a problem you're stuck smack in the middle. It's been over a month and I still do not have my DirecTV it's been turned off? And I have spent more than 368 minutes on my phone trying to negotiate with DirecTV only to be abused and told that I should talk to CenturyLink. Even though my bill is paid in full? And now I just received a bill and they say there is a balance that carried over from last month are you kidding me? The bill was paid in full!! CenturyLink has the worst customer service. The employees have no idea what they are doing, and don't know how to fix problems. They just transfer your call to a different department to see if they can figure it out. I've been hung up on more times than I can count. There are a billion different phone numbers to call for ONE ISSUE and it's impossible to get on the phone with someone who can fix your problems! It would be great if I could give a zero rating. Customer service is atrocious and that is a compliment. I pay for 1G while receiving 20-40mb the last month. Cannot get anyone from tech support to help. They just shuffle you to this imaginary Fiber Optic team that never answers your call. They say your wait time is 7-10 mn and I waited an hour with no call. I am not going to have to go with another provider because I don't like zero service and them stealing from me. I wish I could give this service negative stars... I literally have to reset my router at least 8 times a day. This is ridiculous. Customer service told me it's because I live in an apartment and the more people that are on the more likely I'll get kicked. Well guess what.... It's 315 in the morning and I just got home from my second job and have reset my router 3 times in 18 minutes and still no connection. I have my cell phone, PS4, and Roku connected to my WiFi. Don't do it I asked them to disconnect the service. Told me done, we will send you a final bill ... I should have thought something was up when I never received a final bill. Just got busy and forgot about it till 90 days later the collection department was calling me for $539. I asked them for what?, they replied for services and up till 10 days ago when your service was discontinued, Plus equipment and late fees. But I canceled service and I never had your equipment... I bought a modem and router off craigslist for $25 from people that were sick of them. Their reply Never the less Sir how would you like to pay that balance? After 2 days on the phone, I thought had it resolved no more collection calls. We have 2 centurylink accounts, one in the area where fiber has been installed and the service is outstanding. In 3 years only suffered thru 1 downtime, great performance and the right price. The service at the second location is unfortunately a different kettle of fish. Using traditional copper, and approximately 12,000 ft from the DSLAM (Centurylink main switch). Located in a more established neighborhood, & have to call service a couple of times a year. Problem is always the same the Centurylink service wires in the street get grounded out. Biggest frustration is placing a service call & getting a tech to show, one time had to wait 5 days. Must be a common issue, as always resolved within a short period of time (less than 1 hr) once the tech arrives. Centurylink has 2 levels of service, the on-premise technician and the cable service technician. Centurylink policy is to send an on-premise technician first, but only a cable technician is authorized to touch the wires in the street. No matter how hard I complain and demand a cable technician, I always have to go through the process. Most recently I have the phone number to call the cable technician directly, which has greatly improved the latency in problem resolution. Performance of the service is reasonable (30M down, 2M up), the price includes modem and tax ($60), and has not changed in 3 years. I was very tired of the 10% bump every year and 101 different fees on my previous Cox bill. read more

My modem went out on Thursday afternoon. After 2 and half hours, 6 representatives later all of whom transferred me to someone else, I finally got an order in for my new modem. In the meantime, I told them my phone line was down. I checked every single jack in this house and nothing was working. Got the modem next day (refurbished), and still cannot connect because I STILL have no phone service. I have been with this company for many years, the customer service, and wait time to speak to someone is awful. I now have been without internet, telephone, security, and TV for the last 4 days. No one will help, I've been asked the same questions, account number, phone number, address, last 4 of social since today 8 times and still no help. You cannot connect to the chat line, as nothing goes through. I have been using my personal hotspot just to get work done. No telling what that cell bill with be. I work from home and my internet is my lifeline, as it is for many others. I'm DONE, as soon as I can get another provider I will. After 24 years in the same home your service Centurylink if awful and even more disappointing, I have not one person I can get in touch with. read more

After trying Centurylink for a couple of years and having consistent internet crashes, having their techs out multiple times, including one service call that I paid extra for, mulitple modem change outs, and still having crashes, I switched away from Centurylink. Since switching, there have only been a few minor crashes and service interuptions from my current service. Century Link SUCKS!!!!! Please please please please do not waste your time or money on this piece of JUNK service. Then to top it off, I just recieved four months of billings from the date the service was to be shut off. And since I was no longer receiving any electronic bills like I had been to that date, I presumed that all was good with the account. I recieved all four months of billings all at once, all four were in my mailbox today. Sounds like on top of crappy service, Century Link is pulling a scam on former customers to try to get money out of them for services they didn't provide. So, buyer beware! I simply cannot believe that businesses like Centurylink and COX can charge so much yet offer such poor service Three (3) phone calls and over two (2) hours on the phone with CSR's and nothing is resolved. I still do not have WIFI and for the second time my account has been cancelled! I don't even have service but I get a letter with my charges. We as customers have no protection against misrepresentation by these companies! By the way, we always our bills ON TIME and in full amount. We call them almost every month, they will try to sell you something new and charge you for service you didn't even subscribe to. Folks do not waste your time doing Directv through Centurylink. We did a contract for wireless boxes with Centurylink. They sent the wrong order To Directv and now they won't fix it,so now we have wires on everything. They will not fix without a charge. Centurylink will not fix it either. Real nice customer service. If I could give them -5 starts I would. I sent back the modem/router A YEAR AGO. I cancelled my account and service a YEAR AGO. I just got a call last month regarding a late payment. I said I don't have an account anymore, you must be mistaken. They have been CHARGING ME FOR A YEAR. No notice. No notice of a late payment. Nothing. I've had the same phone number since I got a phone nearly 10 years ago. Nothing has changed. It's not like my phone number wasn't on file for them to get ahold of me. They sent credit write off without ever informing me of payments not being made. I cancelled A YEAR AGO. They have no note or anything of me stating I wanted to cancel a year ago. The person never notated my account, and there was no note of me ever speaking to anyone. I am beyond upset. I've never had a late payment in my life, so why would they think all of a sudden she hasn't been making payments for a year and that's normal? Unacceptable. I owe them $400. I don't have $400 to give them for service that I requested to be cancelled a year ago. I will be calling them again tomorrow to have this removed from my account, and if they do not fix this they will be hearing from a lawyer. read more

THE WORST. I cannot believe the level of incompetence at every turn within this company. At every turn they mess up. It took THREE weeks from my purchase date to get my internet set up -- then I find out when I am trying to cancel that I am on a year-long contract, and need to pay a cancellation fee. One day, I spent a total of 5 hours on hold or on the phone trying to get answers and things worked out with this company. When I called to cancel, I had hopes that it would be quick and easy. Nope -- I just spent another 3 hours on the phone, on hold most of the time. I was re-directed to the wrong place twice. The worst of the worst. We opened a new commercial account with centurylink. We've had it for almost a month and we still don't have a reliable connection. They have primarily offshore support. At one point I had run a speedtest on the connection and said to the rep the service you're providing is a lot slower than what we are paying for. She corrected me and said, it's acceptable for us to deliver up to 20% under your contracted service WTF! If I had any other choice I would go with it in a heartbeat. read more

I have had internet with century link for more than 2 year now. At first every thing was great. Never once had to call and complain about anything. I got a promotion to switch to prism TV. After a year that promotion ended and my bill (originally 55$) was raised to 89$. We only get 12mbs and the lowest grade of prism tv and there is no way it is worth 89$. After talking with more than 7 different people and spending more than 3 hours on the phone, I was basically told that I have to pay that 89$ or my internet will shut off, which I can't have happen because I am a student who needs internet. I paid the 89$ and was promised that this next months bill, September 2016 would go back to the original 55$. Meanwhile I log onto my account and my bill is $101.03. When I called to question this, they told me basically those promises were a lie and that the bill of 101.03 was what I had to pay. HOW IS IT MY FAULT THAT SOMEONE LIED TO ME? Finally the last lady I talked to, who seemed like she could really care less, gave me $25 off of my bill, Which is still way more than I was promised. I hate getting mad and I hate being mean, but the century link customer service screwed me over and is making me pay way more than I should, not even offering any sort of compensation for my frustration and their lies. I have had to cancel and start new service twice. BOTH times having to cancel, they charged my cc for the last month of service AND sent me to collections for the same bill they received payment on, and on time. BOTH times I was also sent to collections for not returning their rented modems, which BOTH times I sent back- luckily, after the first, I emailed myself all the tracking info (that i paid for since their return box never showed after requesting 3 times), and I was able to get it off my credit. AWFUL..... I think Id rather use my cell service and pay extra than to deal with this company again. They also had AWFUL customer service-- they cant look up your account without the account number which I didnt have so sat on hold for 46mins and 53seconds for them to get a manager who then transferred me elsewhere to look up my account. read more

PLEASE SHARE Please don't go with Centurylink for your internet company. Save yourself the headache. In march I realized that Centurylink had lowered my internet from 20 mbps to 7 mbps and raised my bill from 35 dollars a month to 65 dollars a month(which I had been paying for around 7 months). So I called and complained, they sent me over to their "loyalty" department. This is when they realized I have been a long time customer with them, and decided to put me at 20 mbps for 35 dollars a month. They said I would not be entered into a contract. I also bought my own modem at the time, and sent back theirs. Today I call because I finally noticed that I was being charged for their modem still. So I ask them for a refund they said "we can not do that but we can apply a credit". Any other time that would have been acceptable for me. However I wanted it returned to my card, because I was planning on switching to Cox soon, because Centurylink does not provide higher than the 20 mbps; in my area. Which turns out we need a lot more than that. So I spend 2 1/2 hours in the chat trying to get them to refund the amount that they had been taking out of my account wrongfully. When I am finally with the disconnect department (the 4th person I talked to that day). They finally tell me that I am in a contract and that in order to disconnect I owe them 200 dollars please! I told them I was told that I wouldn't be in a contract by the person who setup the account. The guy (number 6 by the way) tells me well it has been on your monthly bills that you get in the mail every month. Well I don't look at my bills since its taken out automatically (obviously or else they wouldn't have gotten away with charging 65 dollars a month for 7 mbps of internet or gotten away with over charging me for 5 months for a modem I don't have). I tell him I specifically asked the person over the phone if I would be in a contract because I was thinking about switching to cox, and the employee said no you wont be you will continue on a month to month. All in all they said either you 200 dollars or you are stuck with us, and everything that comes with us crappy service, horrible internet speed, and agents who are more than willing to lie you. So please don't get Centurylink they will screw you over the first chance they get and everytime after that. read more

If I could rate them below a 1- I would!! This is seriously the WORST customer service I have ever encountered! We changed TV providers because we were offered a much cheaper rate. We bundled with Century Link again (have a current account with old TV provider bundle)- we were told that we would get a new account and a $25/month cheaper bill. We were told no new modem would be needed, one was purchased 2 years prior. When a tech arrived, he said our modem wasn't compatible and a new one would be delivered. He left and we no longer have any internet...my husband called and was transferred to 4 different people, over an hour on the phone only to find that we need to change our modem. I have now been on the phone for 1 hour and 10 minutes, been transferred 5 different times telling me someone would help me....and gotten NO answers, other than my old account was $55.00/month for slower speeds than the new account for $29.99 (because that makes sense). My new account, cheaper but needs a new modem. I requested them just to keep my modem that is working perfectly fine and give me the $29.99 rate...of course this person can't help me...so waiting for yet another costumer service rep. There are numerous problems with this company as a high speed internet provider: 1) Customer Service: expect wait times of 20+ minutes nearly every time you have to call regardless of day/time. 2) Speed: run a speed test after getting hooked up. I was on a 7 mbps plan but could only get 2-3 mbps. When I called to complain, I was told they didn't promise me any particular speed (I referenced my bill where is specifically says 7 mbps). They had nothing to say to that other than I would never get that speed at my address (85048 zip code). 3) Billing: I have to call nearly every month to get a paper bill sent to me. 4) Online: I have never had as much difficulty setting up an online account with any company. After I moved, it seemed impossible at times to get my new service address added to my online account so that I could pay it online (due to rarely getting bills sent to me in the mail). It easily took 10 phone calls to make it happen. 5) Sales: when I moved, I was told that my contract date would not change and that I would only have 1 month left in my contract. Six months later, when I couldn't keep the service due to dozens of intermittent outages per day, I was told that I had 6 months left in my contract. Escalating the call to a supervisor did not help and I was told I would have to pay $200 to get out of the contract. My appeals did not get any sympathy from them. Overall, when you (eventually) get these people on the phone, they aren't concerned about customer service. I will never use their service ever again. read more

Do not use this provider. My wife and I work from home offices when not traveling. 1st day 1 megabyte a second. Canceled service next day, still charged me the 99 bucks to have some dude confirm my phone line worked. They would not discount this price after my dissatisfaction, told them I would pay them 15 bucks a month to pay it off. Still sent me to collections after paying it every month. Then you are on hold for 45 minutes to speak to someone. Bush league company read more

CENTURY LINK SUCKS! I got their services because it was a buddle with Direct TV. When Direct TV came out to install at my apartment, the satellite couldn't be put in properly so I had to cancel. Century Link SUPPOSEDLY has a service where if you cancel in the first 30 days then the customer owes nothing. I swear to GOD I have had the same conversation with TEN different people within their company about getting my charges taken off. It's now 3 months later and they are threatening to send me to collections. SUCH A SCAM. Don't ever buy Century Link. I am writing this review in regards to Centurylink and not a specific store. I live in the Phoenix, AZ metro area and I will say this: if you have other options, explore them. I have had payments not applied (taken from my bank account, electronically, mind you), I have had representatives hang up on me, and I have had the usual misinformed or not-very-well-trained customer service agents constantly. As recently as November, Centurylink processed a payment from my bank account, then sent me a notice stating they could not locate my account; wait, what? Yes, you read that correctly. Next, I've been working for 2 weeks to have them apply the payment they took, yet they continually "lose" the information I send them. Next, I've had multiple (and I mean "multiple") customer service agents hang up on me or send me back to the generic call queue because they did not know how to fix my problem, I promise it is not due to rudeness on my part. I actually have a record of speaking to 7 representatives in an hour and a half trying to get me to the right department...needless to say, I never spoke to the "correct" person. No customer service agent in their customer-service area seems to know what they're doing. I understand many companies have scripts, etc. that they utilize, but when I say this, I mean they are contradictory and literally [typically] have no clue. You really need to dot your i's and cross your t's when dealing with customer service. I recommend using the online chat version and having EVERY chat emailed to you for your records; you'll need them when you cancel service. This department and area is in the negative "stars" on a 0-5 scale. As for the techs and the tech support group: they're great! Every single tech I've had sent to my house for issues has astounded me with their knowledge of any issue I've had. At one point, I had a tech at my home for 8 hours bonding a circuit and rewiring something...in the middle of July (I'm in AZ, remember?). He actually called in and spoke to managers due to the mess that was created with my internet service and complete disarray of equipment and wiring, etc. I wrote to his manager, as well as called the company to comment on this guy. Seriously, he was great. These guys are like a 5/5 star rating. Tech support: Hard to understand, but if you go step-by-step with them, they typically can help with troubleshooting and basic equipment issues. I'd give them a 3-4/5 star rating. read more
